My Arranged Marriage Partner Has Two Faces 27

Chapter 27

“…”

Who the hell could keep pretending after that?

Xi Shi had never run so fast in his life. He pushed Zhong Yuxiao away, grabbed the duvet, rolled himself up like a burrito, and scrambled to the other side of the bed. “You’re taking advantage of me!”

He strongly condemned Zhong Yuxiao’s despicable act of trying to fuck him while he was “unconscious.”

Wrapped tightly in the duvet, Xi Shi was on high alert, only his head peeking out. The lighting at home was warmer than the bar’s, and he looked like a prairie dog popping out of its burrow, his peach blossom eyes wide.

Zhong Yuxiao suppressed his laughter. “Not pretending to faint anymore?”

“…”

He had been discovered.

“Your acting is terrible.” Worse than an over-the-top drama, Zhong Yuxiao commented mercilessly. “You could only fool someone brainless like Xu Linfeng.”

Xi Shi couldn’t save face and said angrily, “You’re just deliberately making fun of me!”

He must look like a clown in Zhong Yuxiao’s eyes, even worse than a clown.

“If I wanted to laugh at you, I would have exposed you long ago. Why would I bother carrying you all the way back?”

Zhong Yuxiao paused, adding, “In a princess carry.”

Xi Shi choked.

Princess carry, princess carry, princess carry – these three words were the last straw, extinguishing the young master’s arrogance. “Then what do you want?”

His tone was aggressive, but his face was flushed, a picture of bluster.

He didn’t really want to do anything, just tease Xi Shi. The young master’s reaction after being exposed was amusing, like a cat that acted fierce on the surface but was actually soft all over.

Zhong Yuxiao didn’t consider himself an animal lover, but now he suddenly thought having a cat wouldn’t be so bad.

“Fucking is out of the question. If you’re still thinking about that, you can dream on.” Xi Shi added warily.

What kind of dream?

A wet dream about him?

Zhong Yuxiao coughed, turning his head away. Xi Shi’s words were always hitting his funny bone, and he had to use half of his energy to suppress his laughter when facing him. “Then I don’t want anything.”

“Really? You said it yourself. You can’t go back on your word later.”

Letting him off the hook so easily, Zhong Yuxiao was reluctant. “Wait.”

The young master’s smile immediately vanished, demonstrating what a quick change of face looked like.

Xi Shi was constantly testing his limits of laughter, and he had to retaliate by testing Xi Shi’s limits of anger. That was only fair.

“Actually, I’m a little sheep.” Zhong Yuxiao said mysteriously.

“Did you take the wrong medication?” Xi Shi looked suspicious, suspecting Zhong Yuxiao was up to no good.

The last time he had this feeling, Zhong Yuxiao called him “gege,” and then he was forced to go to the company and question his life choices.

“I didn’t take the wrong medication, I’m just hungry.” Zhong Yuxiao cleared his throat, the amusement in his eyes almost overflowing. “So, can you graze me?”

Little sheep eat grass, it’s only natural.

“What kind of grass do you want…” He paused, suddenly realizing.

Fuck!

Zhong Yuxiao blinked and winked theatrically. “Can you?”

Heat rushed to his head, and Xi Shi was furious, grinning menacingly. “Of course I can. Tomorrow, I’ll go downstairs and pull some weeds for you, make sure you, this little beast in human skin, are well-fed.”

Seeing the young master so angry he was about to jump up and bite him, Zhong Yuxiao felt refreshed and returned to his room, satisfied.

He was in a good mood and could have a good sleep tonight.

The moonlight was gentle, shining equally on everyone. Some lived in the depths, some in the spotlight. The circumstances in this world were vastly different. Some slept soundly, while others tossed and turned, unable to sleep.

Xi Shi was the one who couldn’t sleep.

As soon as he closed the door and pulled the covers over himself, he frantically poked his phone, sending a message to his useless brother.

[XS: Actually, I’m a sheep.]

[You Jiayu: …]

[You Jiayu: I’m straight, don’t you dare have any ideas about me!!]

“…”

[XS: Fuck off, even if all the men in the world died, I wouldn’t look at you.]

[You Jiayu: That’s good.]

[You Jiayu: You suddenly said something so scary, I thought your account was hacked by some scheming gay.]

Was he really that out of touch with the times?

Xi Shi was in tears. He thought he was trendy, but even You Jiayu knew the “sheep eat grass” meme, while he didn’t.

Age was catching up to him. Was this the sorrow of being almost thirty?

Young Master Xi, who would be turning thirty in two months, sighed sadly.

[You Jiayu: Are you okay?]

[XS: Not dead.]

[You Jiayu: Are you feeling the aftereffects of the kiss yet?]

[XS: …]

Xi Shi licked his lips. He didn’t feel much, maybe it was because he drank too much and was a bit dizzy.

Of course, it could also be because he was angry at Zhong Yuxiao.

The fact that he didn’t faint after kissing Zhong Yuxiao not only made him lose face in front of Zhong Yuxiao, but also caused an inexplicable worry in Xi Shi’s heart.

He sat up in bed and found a contact he hadn’t contacted in a long time.

At two in the morning, when the nightlife was winding down, the young master directly dialed the number. The call automatically disconnected after a few rings, but Xi Shi persisted and called again.

This time, it connected.

“Dr. Chu, hello, this is Shi Xi.”

“…”

Professionalism stopped Chu Yi from cursing. He took a deep breath. “Hello, Mr. Shi.”

He had a strong impression of this Mr. Shi, who had consulted him online. The other party had a strange phobia – kissing. The symptoms were so unusual that he still remembered him after all these years.

“May I ask what important matter prompted you to call in the middle of the night?”

He was woken up from a sound sleep, and his tone clearly expressed his displeasure.

“I kissed someone, and I didn’t faint.” He didn’t care about other people’s life or death. Xi Shi, regardless of everything else, expressed his confusion. “Does this mean my phobia is cured?”

“…”

“Dr. Chu?”

There was no response, only the sound of breathing proved that the call hadn’t been disconnected.

Xi Shi thought for two seconds and added, “Tonight’s consultation fee is ten times the usual rate.”

“…”

Money made the world go round. Chu Yi pinched the bridge of his nose and resignedly got up, pulling up the consultation records on his computer.

The records showed that this Mr. Shi had a strong aversion to kissing, severe enough to cause him to faint. He had previously advised him to avoid lip contact with others as much as possible.

“Contact with a single individual doesn’t prove that your problem is completely solved. May I ask, how many people have you kissed?”

“…One.”

Before, it was to test his phobia, so he casually found someone to experiment with. Their lips barely touched before separating, it couldn’t even be considered a kiss. Strictly speaking, his first kiss was with Zhong Yuxiao.

Xi Shi licked his lips. “So far, I’ve only kissed one person.”

Chu Yi raised his eyebrows. He had asked a similar question before: Have you had sexual intercourse or other forms of physical intimacy with others?

The answer was yes, he had done everything except kiss.

And with quite a few people.

Only sex, no kissing. Was this the new trend among playboys?

Chu Yi thought of Zhong Yuxiao. He heard that Zhong Yuxiao and Xi Shi were getting along well after marriage, Xi Shi had turned over a new leaf, was madly in love with him, and they were even lovey-dovey at the banquet.

His eyes dimmed, his voice also dropping. “There are too many influencing factors, it’s difficult to determine why you didn’t have a reaction.”

“What do you mean?”

“You didn’t faint, maybe your phobia has eased or been cured, or maybe the person you kissed is special to you. This is a common trope in dramas – the destined kiss.”

Chu Yi yawned. “I suggest you try a few more times.”

Xi Shi: “…”

Zhong Yuxiao had also said “try it” before kissing him, which caused Xi Shi to automatically recall that scene every time he heard this phrase. His throat bobbed, and he felt a slight itch at the base of his tongue.

For a first kiss, his kiss with Zhong Yuxiao was too intense.

“Kiss your potential destined partner a few more times, and if possible, try with other people as well. If you only don’t faint when kissing him, then he’s probably your destined one.”

Destined – a very subtle description, both anticipating its arrival and fearing the predestined feeling it brought.

After hanging up, Xi Shi transferred a hefty consultation fee to Chu Yi.

The empty room was dark, only the faint light from his phone screen illuminating the space.

Xi Shi hugged his knees, his eyes unfocused, showing a rare vulnerability.

Destined…

If he really only didn’t have a phobia with Zhong Yuxiao, what should he do?

The phone screen automatically turned off, the faint light swallowed by the darkness, along with the panic and fear in Xi Shi’s heart, all disappearing into the silent night.

He got out of bed and found the spare key to the second bedroom.

As the saying goes, nothing good happens after 2:30 am.

Conversely, if you go to bed at 2:30 am, something good might happen.

Zhong Yuxiao was sleeping soundly when he suddenly heard a soft click. He was a light sleeper and immediately opened his eyes.

The room was pitch black, the moonlight blocked by the curtains, and he couldn’t see his hand in front of his face.

Who was it?

The security was tight, the elevator required a key card to access his floor, and the double security doors were equipped with the most advanced electronic locks… With all these security measures, it was highly unlikely for an outsider to break in.

Was Xi Shi, unable to sleep in the middle of the night, sneaking into his room to deliver grass?

His hand at his side clenched into a fist. Zhong Yuxiao suppressed his excitement, closed his eyes, and swallowed all his speculations.

Xi Shi tiptoed to the bedside.

A vague lump was visible on the bed, the face indistinguishable. Xi Shi leaned closer, his palm moist, the thin tissue almost soaked through.

He quickly unfolded the tissue and fumbled to cover Zhong Yuxiao’s face.

This was the doctor’s prescription. I’m just following the doctor’s orders, trying to see if I’ll faint, not sneaking in to kiss Zhong Yuxiao.

Definitely not!

After reassuring himself, Xi Shi exhaled and leaned closer, supporting himself with his hand on the pillow.

Through the tissue, the gentle touch was as light as a butterfly’s wings, almost imperceptible.

But it triggered a butterfly effect.

Zhong Yuxiao’s heart skipped a beat, a storm raging in his chest, thousands of seagulls soaring through the waves, crashing into his heart.

He reached out and wrapped his arms around Xi Shi’s waist.

Xi Shi’s eyes widened, and before he could struggle, Zhong Yuxiao suddenly flipped him over, the 1.5-meter wooden bed creaking.

Xi Shi was pressed into the soft silk duvet, the tissue slipping from Zhong Yuxiao’s face and landing on his chin.

Zhong Yuxiao pressed down firmly, pinning him to the bed with his body.

It was like a few hours ago, when he was held captive in Zhong Yuxiao’s arms, kissed until he couldn’t breathe.

How did things turn out like this?

Xi Shi’s mind went blank, his body tense.

In the dark room, Zhong Yuxiao’s voice was as deep as the night, with a sleepy hoarseness. “Sneaking into my bed, have you considered the consequences?”

“You misunderstand, I, I came to cover you with a blanket!”

“Is this the blanket you brought?” Zhong Yuxiao held up the thin tissue.

“If I said I came to cover your belly button, would you believe me?”

“Heh.”

The tissue fluttered away. Zhong Yuxiao accurately captured Xi Shi’s lips, answering his question with action.

They kissed again.

Xi Shi’s vision darkened, complex emotions flooding his heart.

Good news: he had achieved his goal.

Bad news: he still didn’t fucking faint!

Not only did he not faint, he was wide awake, even clearly feeling Zhong Yuxiao’s hand slipping under his shirt.

“Next time you want something, just tell me directly. We’re sharing a bed, I definitely won’t reject you.”

“…”

Xi Shi turned his head away, gasping for breath, and grabbed his wrist. “You forgot ‘partners.'”

They were partners sharing a bed. Without the word “partners,” it sounded ambiguous and unclear.

…Although their current relationship wasn’t exactly clear either.

Xi Shi was deceiving himself, refusing to acknowledge this.

How could Zhong Yuxiao not see through his evasion? “Would you kiss your business partner?”

Xi Shi was silent.

Zhong Yuxiao chuckled. “Neither would I.”

From the moment their lips touched, they were no longer just business partners.

“You came looking for me.”

Xi Shi couldn’t refute this.

Regardless of the reason, he had snuck into Zhong Yuxiao’s room in the middle of the night.

The ridiculous kiss at the bar was over, but he was still obsessed with the reason, ultimately because of fear.

He was afraid that Zhong Yuxiao was the exception in his life, the destined one Chu Yi mentioned.

“From the beginning, you were the one who provoked me. Admit it, Xi Shi, you want me.”

Zhong Yuxiao shook the hand that was gripping his wrist, his tone gentle but firm. “Let go.”

My Arranged Marriage Partner Has Two Faces

My Arranged Marriage Partner Has Two Faces

书名:联姻对象有两副嘴脸
Status: Completed Author: Native Language: Chinese

Forced into an arranged marriage and living under the same roof, they establish three rules: maintain a superficial husband-husband relationship and divorce amicably after a year.

One day, Xi Shi is drinking with friends at a bar, complaining incessantly: "My arranged marriage partner is a weirdo. White shirt, black glasses, thermos full of goji berries, old-fashioned, abstinent, and no fun. He's in bed by ten every night. Ugh, even looking at him makes me lose my appetite."

Neon lights flash. A friend stares at a man in a booth: "Holy crap, that guy is so handsome! He's a god!"

Xi Shi glances over dismissively and instantly turns to stone.

Still in the same white shirt, but without his glasses, his prim and proper arranged marriage partner is being given a lap dance.

Xi Shi, feeling utterly betrayed, rips the dancer off Zhong Yuxiao: "Get lost."

The people in the booth tease: "Oh, which little lover is this who came looking for you? Spicy."

"My wife."

"...Doesn't seem like your type."

The man looks up, his voice languid: "Indeed, not my type."

"An arranged marriage partner forced on me by my family."

Xi Shi laughs in anger: Fuck.

This arranged marriage partner of his is interesting.

The biggest obstacle in their relationship is definitely Xi Shi’s aversion to romantic feelings of love, so I wonder how they’ll both overcome it. Hopefully it won’t be too much of a struggle, but romantic love is clearly a traumatic thing for Xi Shi, so it certainly won’t be easy.

Thanks for the chapter! 😀
