Chapter 33
Early the next morning, Zhong Yuxiao rode his pink electric scooter, taking Xi Shi to Lincheng University.
“It won’t run out of battery halfway, will it?” Xi Shi asked worriedly.
“No.”
Zhong Yuxiao had called Xu Linfeng last night, who then called the scooter shop. The shop explained that new electric scooters came with some charge, and after a full charge, they could be used normally.
Zhong Yuxiao said confidently, “I had Uncle Qin fully charge it, it definitely won’t break down halfway.”
Xi Shi, wearing the pink helmet, shook his cramped legs, and assumed his CEO persona. “Driver Zhong, this is your last chance. If there’s another problem, you’re fired.”
Zhong Yuxiao suppressed his laughter and played along. “Yes, yes, please rest assured, CEO Xi, I’ll definitely get you to school safely.”
Not long after he said this, they were stopped by a traffic officer at the second traffic light.
“According to the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China, electric scooters are not allowed to carry passengers over the age of 12.”
The officer looked at Xi Shi, who clearly looked older than 12. “50 yuan fine, here’s the ticket.”
“…”
Zhong Yuxiao reluctantly scanned the QR code and paid the fine. Under the officer’s watchful eye, he didn’t dare carry Xi Shi anymore and could only push the scooter alongside him. Fortunately, they weren’t far from Lincheng University, just around the corner.
Xi Shi chuckled. “Driver Zhong, is this what you call arriving safely?”
“There was no traffic accident, and no casualties, why wouldn’t it be considered safe?” Zhong Yuxiao handed him the ticket, saying confidently, “You’ve definitely never received a ticket like this before. Your first time was with me, CEO Xi, feel honored?”
“…”
He suspected Zhong Yuxiao was being suggestive, but he had no proof.
Xi Shi folded the ticket and put it in his pocket.
It was strange. He didn’t feel anything before Zhong Yuxiao said it, but now, he suddenly felt that this ticket was worth keeping.
Not only were his words venomous, but Zhong Yuxiao himself was poisonous.
As soon as they entered the campus, he felt gazes from all directions. Zhong Yuxiao ignored them. Since his photo was posted on the confession wall after his last class, he was constantly surrounded by stares.
Xi Shi initially thought it was because they were too handsome and attracted attention, but he gradually realized something was wrong.
These people seemed to be looking at Zhong Yuxiao, not him.
The young master frowned, once again doubting his own looks. He should be equally as attractive as Zhong Yuxiao, why was there such a big difference?
“Have I become uglier recently?”
“What?”
Xi Shi stood in the parking shed, exuding an air of melancholy. “Maybe it’s because I’ve been busy with work lately, I feel like I’ve been pickled, smelling like…”
He thought for a moment and uttered a word: “Corporate slave.”
He remembered the people at the company saying this, that work made them smell faintly of death, a scent known as the “corporate slave smell.”
Zhong Yuxiao choked. Was his understanding of the term “corporate slave” inadequate, or had the scope of “corporate slave” expanded to include even the boss?
“I feel very haggard recently, my attractiveness has decreased.” Xi Shi took off his helmet and touched his face sadly.
Almost thirty years old, perhaps he should learn from the bottoms in the circle and use a face mask.
Zhong Yuxiao couldn’t understand why he suddenly had this thought and comforted him truthfully. “I think you look good, and your attractiveness hasn’t decreased. At least I still feel something when I see you.”
“What feeling?” Xi Shi subconsciously glanced at him.
“…The urge to punch you.”
Zhong Yuxiao said expressionlessly, patting his head. “Let’s dye your green hair someday, it makes me feel like I’m morally corrupt, like I’m about to cheat.”
Thinking of the gazes directed at Zhong Yuxiao just now, Xi Shi nodded seriously. “I’ll dye it when we get back.”
This wasn’t a good sign, he didn’t want to have more rivals in love for no reason.
The lecture was held in the auditorium. Even before it started, the auditorium was packed, far more spectacular than his last class.
Xi Shi’s right eyelid twitched. “The last time I saw so many students and teachers was at the pre-college entrance exam motivational rally.”
Strange, how did he end up dating a teacher?
Zhong Yuxiao was also surprised. He had heard that Lincheng University’s mid-term lectures were grand, but he didn’t expect so many people to come. No wonder the teachers took this so seriously.
“There are no seats left, come with me backstage.”
The dean of academic affairs had asked him if he wanted to reserve seats, but at that time, he hadn’t planned on bringing anyone, so he declined.
Xi Shi clicked his tongue. “Teacher Zhong is too popular. I came to see my partner shine, but it feels like I’m sneaking in for an affair.”
Zhong Yuxiao was warmed by the word “partner,” but choked on the word “affair.” “An affair is good, it’s exciting.”
Neither of them were virtuous people. Their eyes met, their gazes ambiguous, and Xi Shi nodded with a grin. “You’re right, then I’ll go backstage and wait for Teacher Zhong’s favor.”
This wait lasted an hour.
Xi Shi wasn’t interested in lectures, even if it was his partner on stage.
However, Zhong Yuxiao on stage had an extraordinary aura, and countless students were taking pictures. Xi Shi found Lincheng University’s confession wall and saved several photos.
He was figuring out how to set a photo as his wallpaper when a news notification popped up on his phone.
[Chenxi International director Shi and his wife involved in a physical altercation, both hospitalized, suspected marital discord]
Xi Shi frowned and clicked on the picture.
Shi Fengsheng’s face was blurred in the photo, but his injuries weren’t. He was still wearing the same clothes as last night, but they were stained with blood.
He hadn’t hit him that hard last night.
And, the reported assailant wasn’t him, but Xi Le.
Xi Shi’s heart skipped a beat, and he called Xi Chongyang. After a while, the call was answered, but it wasn’t Xi Chongyang, but the housekeeper.
“Where’s my grandfather?”
The housekeeper was silent for a moment. “One moment, please.”
There were rustling sounds on the other end of the line, then the phone was handed to Xi Chongyang, whose voice sounded weak. “Xi Shi, what’s wrong?”
“Grandpa, I…” Xi Shi didn’t know how to begin, hesitated for a moment, and asked, “Do you know about Xi Le and Shi Fengsheng?”
“Mm.”
Xi Chongyang sighed. “Last night, Xi Le came to see me and told me some things.”
Xi Shi’s heart sank. He had a feeling that Xi Chongyang knew about Shi Fengsheng’s sham marriage.
But Xi Chongyang didn’t say more, just instructed, “Xi Le wants a divorce from Shi Fengsheng. Xi Shi, find a lawyer for her. Infidelity during marriage is enough for Shi Fengsheng to leave with nothing.”
He seemed to have aged significantly, and his usual complaints about Xi Le were gone.
Xi Shi agreed and contacted his assistant.
The lecture was nearing its end, and people were leaving the auditorium in twos and threes. Zhong Yuxiao was packing up, preparing to go backstage, when someone suddenly appeared in front of him.
He looked up, slightly surprised. “Why is it you?”
A delicate face, it was Miao Yuan, who had accused him of seducing Xi Shi at the school gate.
“We meet again. I didn’t expect you to be a teacher.”
Zhong Yuxiao’s expression was indifferent. “Is there something I can help you with?”
Had Xi Shi not broken things off with Miao Yuan yet?
Zhong Yuxiao’s eyes darkened.
“Teacher Zhong, you’re a top, right?” Miao Yuan’s eyes sparkled. He stepped forward and placed an envelope in Zhong Yuxiao’s pocket. “I misunderstood last time. Tonight, can you give me a chance to make it up to you?”
If he wasn’t mistaken, the envelope probably contained a hotel room key card.
So, this young man was… interested in him?
“What are you doing?!”
Xi Shi rushed over. He was tall and much stronger than the slender Miao Yuan, easily pulling him away from Zhong Yuxiao. “I already told you, we’re done. Do you not understand human language?”
He had been busy with Zhong Yuxiao recently and almost forgot about this person.
“I hate it when people are clingy.”
Miao Yuan looked bewildered. He was just hitting on Zhong Yuxiao, how did it become him being clingy to Xi Shi?
Zhong Yuxiao tugged at Xi Shi’s clothes. “Cough, you misunderstand.”
“Misunderstand?” Xi Shi was confused. “Isn’t he harassing you?”
Miao Yuan had scolded Zhong Yuxiao in public last time, and now he was relentlessly causing trouble at school again. Did he really think he had a good temper?
Zhong Yuxiao looked awkward. “He’s not looking for me because of you.”
It was harassment, but not the kind you think.
Zhong Yuxiao handed him the envelope, and Xi Shi froze for two seconds, his eyes widening in disbelief. “You want to ask him out?”
Miao Yuan shrank his neck and nodded meekly. “Teacher Zhong is my type.”
Was he wrong to pursue his happiness?
Xi Shi: “…”
Fuck.
Zhong Yuxiao suppressed his laughter and returned the envelope. “Sorry, I’m married.”
Miao Yuan was stunned, then his eyes widened as he realized something.
The rumors in the circle were that Young Master Xi had also gotten married, turned over a new leaf, and was deeply in love with his partner.
“You probably guessed it, that’s right.” Zhong Yuxiao held Xi Shi’s hand, revealing their matching rings. “Xi Shi is my legal partner.”
Leaving the school, Xi Shi still had a sullen face.
Zhong Yuxiao didn’t dare to touch his brow and secretly laughed. The young master had probably never experienced such embarrassment in his life.
Even he couldn’t believe it was true.
“Just laugh if you want to.” Xi Shi’s face was downcast, his spirit broken. “I must have looked really stupid just now.”
He had spent time and money pursuing Miao Yuan, sending him many gifts, but Zhong Yuxiao didn’t do anything, just met him once, and Miao Yuan came offering a hotel room key card.
Was there any justice in this world?
Xi Shi didn’t care about Miao Yuan at all, but seeing Miao Yuan flirting with Zhong Yuxiao made him feel annoyed.
What made Xi Shi even more unacceptable was that he had misunderstood the situation at the time.
Last night, while chewing bubble gum, he thought there was nothing more embarrassing in life than buying condoms and mistaking them for candy. But reality proved him wrong.
Today, he encountered something even more embarrassing.
“You weren’t stupid, you looked very handsome when you were jealous.”
Zhong Yuxiao said sincerely, and Xi Shi looked into his eyes. “Really?”
Zhong Yuxiao couldn’t help but laugh. “Okay, maybe a little bit stupid.”
“…”
Xi Shi turned and walked away.
Zhong Yuxiao followed, his face beaming, his smile bright. “A little bit stupid isn’t stupid, it’s adorably stupid. I think you’re very cute.”
Heh.
A man’s mouth, a deceitful ghost.
They couldn’t ride the electric scooter back, and Zhong Yuxiao was about to call Qin Yun when Xi Shi stopped him. “I’ve called someone, let’s not go back yet, come with me somewhere.”
At the school gate, the assistant had been waiting for a long time and immediately greeted Xi Shi. “CEO Xi, I’ve found a lawyer. He has won countless divorce cases, the best divorce lawyer in Lincheng.”
Zhong Yuxiao was shocked, bewildered, and horrified. “You’re divorcing me?!”
It’s great that Shi Fengsheng will most likely walk away with practically nothing when the divorce takes place, but it’s still messed up that Xi Le should get anything from it when she’s the one who cheated with him while he was still married to Xi Yue and even bragged about her pregnancy to her. I can only hope that Shi Fengsheng’s shares will go back to Xi Shi after the divorce because Xi Le certainly doesn’t deserve anything of the sort due to her previous atrocious actions.
Thanks for the chapter! 😀
