Chapter 40
The wedding date was set for half a month later, a week later than originally planned.
The two families sat together to discuss the arrangements, and Zhong Zhili raised a question, “Why postpone it?”
He had already cleared his schedule, and now he had to rearrange it again.
Xi Shi glared at him, and Zhong Yuxiao smiled, replying, “I have some temporary classes scheduled next week, there’s not enough time to take wedding photos, so we postponed it.”
How could work be more important than marriage? This was a major life event, postponing it casually seemed too frivolous.
Zhong Zhili frowned but didn’t say anything more.
Back at home, the young master’s face immediately fell, and he let out a heavy snort.
Zhong Yuxiao chuckled and coaxed him softly, “I’ve taken all the blame, no one will know you’re incapacitated, don’t be angry.”
Speaking of which, Xi Shi immediately went into rage mode. “Why am I incapacitated? Isn’t it because of you?”
Being fucked was one thing, after all, it was his fault for wearing that damn nightgown, but which decent sheep would graze for five or six hours straight? Wasn’t he afraid of being stuffed to death?
After that day, he took two days off, lying in bed.
Heavens, Zhong Yuxiao was simply outrageous.
“It’s my fault, my fault for lasting too long, my fault for being too capable. I’ll humbly accept Teacher Xi’s criticism and education, I’ll definitely be more careful next time, and try not to make you unable to get out of bed.”
“…”
You’re actually proud of it, aren’t you?
Xi Shi grabbed a pillow and threw it at him, but seeing the ring on his hand, his anger subsided considerably.
“Why a gold ring?”
The ring’s design was exquisite, he liked it, but the color was a bit too flashy.
Zhong Yuxiao put the pillow back on the sofa. “You said you liked gold.”
Xi Shi froze, thought for a moment, then his eyes widened in surprise. “You were planning to buy me a ring when you asked me if I liked diamonds?”
He had wondered why Zhong Yuxiao asked him about diamonds out of the blue.
“So you were already head over heels for me back then.” Xi Shi said smugly.
Zhong Yuxiao had never said anything like “I like you,” but he could find clues from his words and actions.
“I just thought the original ring was too plain, and people kept hitting on me after I got married, so I wanted a new one to ward off unwanted attention.”
Zhong Yuxiao shrugged indifferently. “Since it’s a wedding ring, you should at least contribute to the choice.”
Xi Shi: “…”
So his contribution was choosing the material.
Xi Shi snorted. “Many people hit on me too.”
Zhong Yuxiao raised his eyebrows, his expression unchanged. “Really? You’re so busy with work, and people still hit on you?”
“Of course.” Xi Shi sat up straight, bragging without blushing or panting, as if it were true. “The people who hit on me every day could line up from the company to my doorstep, countless.”
“Alright, then let’s invite them all to our wedding, it’ll be lively.”
“…”
“Forget it.” The young master forced a smile. “Too many people, the catering cost would be several times higher. It’s better to save that money and support Teacher Zhong’s educational career.”
Was CEO Xi, with billions in assets, short on money?
Zhong Yuxiao didn’t expose him and went along with it. “We’re taking wedding photos tomorrow, are you up for it?”
Finding traditional wedding photos too rigid, they booked an outdoor photoshoot. The photographer would follow them throughout the day, capturing candid moments of their outing.
The location was set at the strawberry farm.
Since he had bought a year’s worth of strawberries, they had to use them, no waste.
Xi Shi said seriously, “A man can’t say no.”
Zhong Yuxiao wanted to tease him, seeing his serious expression. He said with a playful smile, “Oh~ then you crying ‘no’ last night was a lie? CEO Xi, being dishonest like this, you might not be able to get out of bed.”
“…”
The pillow was grabbed again, and Xi Shi pressed it against Zhong Yuxiao’s face, saying fiercely, “Can’t get out of bed, huh? I’ll make sure you can’t even get into bed!”
Laughter filled the air, and the pillow was pulled away, sunlight falling on their lingering kiss.
Zhong Yuxiao curled his lips. “CEO Xi, did you faint this time?”
Every time they kissed, Zhong Yuxiao would ask this question. At first, it was to check on Xi Shi’s condition, but gradually, it became a playful tease.
Xi Shi leaned against his shoulder, calming his breathing.
He hadn’t listened to the doctor and kissed other people, so he didn’t know whether his phobia was gone, or as the doctor said, Zhong Yuxiao was special to him.
“I probably won’t faint anymore.”
The answer wasn’t important, what was important was his choice. He wanted Zhong Yuxiao to be his only destined one.
“It seems I’m the cure for your ‘mouthsickness.'”
They leaned against each other, shoulder to shoulder, and Xi Shi, with half-closed eyes, smelled the familiar sandalwood scent. This scent was light yet invasive, at first only occupying his mind, then slowly permeating his body, melting his ice-cold heart.
A chronic illness, self-healed without medication.
“When my mother was sick, I would go home to see her after school every day. Shi Fengsheng was always by her side, never leaving her. I was puzzled, why wasn’t she happy even then?”
“Until one day, my mother was basking in the sun in the greenhouse, and the wind suddenly picked up. I went back to the room to get her a blanket and saw Shi Fengsheng kissing Xi Le.”
Xi Shi’s voice was soft, devoid of emotion. “Can you imagine? One second he was squatting in front of my mother, kissing her cheek, saying all sorts of sweet nothings, the next second he was kissing another woman in his and my mother’s bedroom.”
“And even, those lips that kissed a woman would also kiss a man.”
He would never forget that day. He skipped class and secretly followed Shi Fengsheng. In a cheap, secluded hotel, his father was kneeling on the ground, kissing another man’s genitals, even…that part.
The weather was nice that day, but it was disgusting.
It was also on that day that Xi Shi empathized with Xi Yue, understanding where her self-loathing came from.
“The doctor said I was traumatized, subconsciously thinking that kissing is dirty.”
Zhong Yuxiao tightened his embrace, and Xi Shi smiled, tilting his head up and kissing him on the lips.
Zhong Yuxiao froze for a few seconds.
He was always the one initiating their kisses. Xi Shi could accept him, but he seemed unable to overcome the psychological barrier.
But just now, Xi Shi took the initiative to kiss him.
“I think my priority overrides your subconscious.”
So I’m willing to overcome the obstacle and come to you.
Xi Shi asked seriously, “Zhong Yuxiao, are you willing to be faithful to me for the rest of your life?”
Zhong Yuxiao gazed at him deeply, his heart burning. “I’m honored.”
Xi Shi was the exception that crossed his bottom line, with an infinitely extended passion.
“Xi Shi.” Zhong Yuxiao’s voice was soft, like a promise. “I think I’ll love you forever.”
With a lifetime as the unit of measurement, I will come to you without hesitation.
Meanwhile, in an unnoticed corner, a message popped up on a phone.
[Former Chenxi International director Shi was placed under investigation by relevant authorities for suspected asset transfer. During the investigation, Shi was severely injured in an assault and has been hospitalized. According to sources, Shi tested positive for HIV. His wife, Xi, was sentenced to nine years in prison for intentional assault causing serious injury.]
—End of main story—
Well, I guess Zhong Yuxiao’s bed skills have been approved by Xi Shi, especially since he could still be in an accommodating mood after being “attentively” serviced for 5-6 hours, lol. I’m just glad that Xi Shi’s misunderstanding was cleared up so simply, without any excess melodrama, because their love is simply a funny, yet sincere one.
I can’t believe it’s already the end of the main story, though! I really like that it ended with both Xi Shi overcoming his kissing trauma and Zhong Yuxiao’s confession. Now, I’m looking forward to the extras!
Thanks for the chapter! 😀
