Chapter 33: Save the World?
“What should I call you?” Wen En asked in a gentle voice.
“Me?” the Omega pointed at himself. “My name is Xiaoli…” After saying that, the Omega named Xiaoli felt a prick at the back of his head.
Xiaoli turned his head and saw the Alpha staring at him with displeasure. The look in his eyes was just short of directly cursing the words “ungrateful.”
“Can you still get up?” Wen En asked. Xiaoli turned his head and saw Wen En say to him, “If you can’t stand up, don’t force yourself. Do you need me to carry you?”
The moment he finished speaking, Xiaoli felt an unbearable itch at the back of his head, as if he had been pricked dozens of times. Yet he didn’t dare to turn back. The thick Alpha pheromones came from behind him, like a great mountain, pressing down on him and making it hard to breathe.
“N-no, it’s fine,” Xiaoli smiled tactfully. “I’m not that weak.”
Xiaoli quickly stood up. In fact, he was weaker than he had said. He had just stood up and taken two steps when he felt the blood rush to his head. His vision went black, and he almost fell to the ground. Fortunately, Wen En was quick-witted and swiftly supported him.
“Are you okay?” Wen En asked in a low voice.
“I-I’m fine,” perhaps because he was in heat, Xiaoli’s cheeks felt hot. “Thank you.”
Romeo, on the side: …
(Frowns) (Glares) (Pants with anger) (Growls darkly)
Good, this fits his stereotype of Omegas perfectly. That wasn’t the point. The point was, how could he not have thought that Wen En would fall for this? Heavens, Wen En was so cold to him, yet so gentle to this annoying, feigning-weakness, whiny green-tea Omega. Romeo was so angry he could only glare.
Although he didn’t know, and didn’t think much about why he was so angry, why he had such emotions.
—After all, he was an Alpha. It was well known that Alphas were somewhat narcissistic and always hoped that everyone, especially Omegas and Betas, would focus their attention on them.
Romeo was no exception. He hated Omegas, so naturally he didn’t care what Xiaoli thought. But Wen En, as a Beta, how could he focus his attention on anyone other than Romeo?
Feeling the Alpha’s pheromones, Xiaoli felt both hot and cold sweat at the same time. Having just witnessed the intimate contact between the Alpha and this Beta, he could guess their relationship with his hair. And why Romeo’s attitude towards him was so subtle.
Xiaoli had been a dealer in an entertainment venue for some time. He hadn’t learned any other skills, but he was good at reading faces. So Xiaoli very tactfully said to Wen En:
“In fact, Mr. Romeo needs help more than I do.”
“Him?” Wen En glanced at the Alpha.
Xiaoli’s eyes darted around and said, “You don’t know what Mr. Peter did to him…” Xiaoli recounted what had just happened to Wen En, using a very exaggerated narrative to portray Romeo as a pitiful figure. Wen En almost couldn’t hold it together.
This was a completely different person from the Romeo Wen En knew, right?
Wen En had seen clearly what had happened on the monitor before, but he didn’t expose him. He just smiled and said, “It’s good that you’re both okay.”
Glancing at Romeo, who was still standing on the side with a displeased look, Wen En walked up, extended his hand, and said, “Let’s go.”
Romeo looked at him in surprise. Was Wen En… finally seeing that the Omega was a little green tea feigning weakness?
Just as Romeo was about to get smug, Wen En’s action caught his attention.
Wen En took out a pair of handcuffs and cuffed his own hand to Romeo’s. Wen En had picked these up when he passed by a cell earlier. He hadn’t expected them to come in handy.
What is he doing?! Romeo licked his lips. Wen En’s actions made him excited, and his pants even tightened. The Alpha’s pheromones rushed to his brain uncontrollably, and from his brain, they gushed out like a fountain, spreading everywhere.
Xiaoli felt uncomfortable. He shrank his head and, enduring the pain in his body, walked to the door. “I’ll wait for you here,” he said.
Wen En nodded in understanding. Fortunately, Wen En was a Beta, and the Alpha’s pheromones had no effect on him.
Is this a hint? This is clearly a blatant hint! Romeo really wanted to pounce on Wen En and give him a big kiss, but unfortunately, due to Wen En’s fists, he held back.
Perhaps afraid that Romeo would misunderstand, Wen En said, “I’m sorry. I’m just afraid you’ll act impulsively and do something irreversible to Xiaoli.”
After all, these two were in heat. Wen En had thought it over. In this extreme situation, without inhibitors, he could only control Romeo this way to prevent Xiaoli from being harmed.
A little interesting.
Romeo said, “Aren’t you afraid I’ll do something irreversible to you?”
Hearing this, Wen En stopped in his tracks. “Oh? What irreversible thing will you do to me?”
“Are you going to betray me and side with that lunatic named Peter?” Wen En’s voice sounded a little angry.
He raised his other, uncuffed hand and suddenly punched the wall behind Romeo. The fist carried a gust of wind that blew Romeo’s hair.
Romeo’s heart pounded. Damn it, why am I getting more excited?
“You remember this,” Wen En lowered his head and whispered, “If you dare to betray me, I’ll make you die a horrible death, understand?”
Wen En lowered his eyes and looked down at the Alpha in front of him. The Alpha’s face was flushed, and he suddenly trembled. “I understand,” the Alpha raised his hand and gently stroked Wen En’s chin. “I will never betray you. At the same time, I hope you won’t betray me either.”
“I won’t,” Wen En said calmly. “I promise you.”
“That’s good,” Romeo smiled. He was about to lean in and kiss the Beta’s lips, but a sudden noise came from the doorway.
It turned out that Xiaoli had accidentally kicked the door.
“I’m sorry.”
Xiaoli frowned in pain, but in his heart, he thought, I’m doomed. Not only have I stumbled into a strange play about an Alpha and a Beta, but I’ve also accidentally interrupted a part of their play.
Look at that Alpha’s eyes, it’s like he’s throwing daggers at Xiaoli!
Wen En just cleared his throat and said, “Let’s go.” He had said this for the third time today, but the previous two times, they had not been successful. Wen En said again, “If we don’t go now, it will be too late.”
He was right. Even if Romeo was horny, he had to recognize the grim reality. He had to stop and follow Wen En out of the cell.
Charles Brown’s body was airlifted back to F.I.A.D. headquarters, where it would be autopsied by the professional forensic pathologists of the headquarters’ biological sciences department for a final examination.
After a day and a night of overtime by the dedicated forensic pathologists, the autopsy report was finally out.
Deceased: Charles Brown
Cause of death: Gunshot wound
The bullet had pierced his aorta, and he had died from excessive internal bleeding.
His limbs, spine, and skull had varying degrees of fractures, all caused by impact after death.
It was speculated that after being thrown into the sea, the frequent movement of the seawater had caused him to hit the reefs at the bottom of the sea, resulting in the fractures.
At the same time, the forensic pathologists found a chip in the muscle of his right thigh.
“A chip?” Della asked doubtfully.
“That’s right, a chip,” the forensic pathologist handed her a small, sealed plastic bag. Inside the bag was the cleaned, green chip, less than 0.5cm in diameter. The forensic pathologist continued, “This chip is coated with a layer that can block any scanner on the market, including the one on the sea-faring aircraft.”
Thanks to the anaerobic bacteria in the sea, they had corroded the flesh and tissues on Charles Brown’s body so severely that the forensic pathologists had to separate the flesh, tissues, and bones to proceed with the autopsy. It was then that they had accidentally found the chip. If not for this, the chip might never have seen the light of day.
“Understood. Thank you,” Della nodded and took the chip from the biological sciences department to the information technology department.
She took a brand-new computer and placed the chip in the computer’s connection device. Of course, she had to see what information was stored on this chip.
The computer’s display showed that the chip and the computer were successfully connected. Everything seemed to be going smoothly, until Della clicked on the document where the chip was located. Della’s expression suddenly became grim.
The computer screen suddenly turned black.
“Damn it,” Della cursed. She had a Ph.D. in computer science. She could tell at a glance what this was.
There was a virus on this chip.
Fortunately, Della had a countermeasure. She took out her smartphone and connected it to the computer with another port on the connection device. Her phone had an anti-virus application that she had created herself. The moment this application detected a virus invasion, it would activate a protection + anti-tracking mode, killing the virus while also finding its source.
The moment the phone was connected to the computer, a warning from the anti-virus application popped up on the phone’s screen. Della pressed “confirm trace,” and an hourglass immediately appeared on the phone’s screen.
Della did not have to wait long. The sand in the hourglass flowed quickly. When the last grain of sand fell, the words “Trace Successful” appeared on the phone’s screen.
But Della did not breathe a sigh of relief, because the computer screen was still black. Had it failed? Just as Della was about to launch a more aggressive virus scan, Charles Brown’s face suddenly popped up on the computer screen, startling her.
“I’m sorry,” the face on the screen said. “Please listen carefully. Every word I’m about to say is very important. It concerns the safety of the entire Interstellar Federation Empire, and even the entire universe.”
“Do you want this world to be destroyed?”
Della nodded. She did, quite a bit.
Especially when she was working, or when she was writing her thesis and doing research experiments and data analysis, she would unconsciously fantasize about a meteor smashing this shitty planet of Capital Star to pieces.
“That’s great. The mission to save the world is now in your hands,” the Charles Brown on the screen said.
Della shook her head. Destroying the world was something to consider, but saving the world? Forget it.
The Charles Brown on the screen continued:
“It all started when I was still working at Joseph Technology…”
