My Arranged Marriage Partner Has Two Faces 43p2

Chapter 43 p2

He could never win in playing games, or in studies. Xu Linfeng felt that he had spent half of his life’s courage to maintain his friendship with Zhong Yuxiao.

“You’re being stereotypical.” Zhong Yuxiao took another sip of his drink and patted Xu Linfeng’s shoulder. “This is a gay bar, you’re a straight man, stay away, lest you become like a cockroach.”

It took Xu Linfeng a while to understand what he meant, and his expression turned to disgust. “I’m a straight man, I’ll never be swayed!”

Zhong Yuxiao ignored his ranting. After saying that, he got up and left. Xu Linfeng thought he was going home, but it was only after the bartender reminded him that he realized Zhong Yuxiao had left with his glass.

The bartender’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “This is going to be a good show.”

At the central booth, Xi Shi crossed his legs and looked at the man standing in front of him with a bored expression. “Sorry, not interested.”

The cute-faced man asked anxiously, “Why?”

“Why else? Because you don’t meet my standards.” Xi Shi smiled, his gaze sweeping over his legs. “Your legs are too short, I can’t accept a partner whose legs are shorter than 100cm.”

The words “short legs” made the man’s face flush. He opened his mouth, but couldn’t find anything to refute.

Another one dealt with.

If only his blind dates could be resolved this easily.

Recently, his grandfather had been acting strangely, insisting on setting him up with the Zhong family’s youngest son. A blind date in name, but a marriage alliance in reality. They hadn’t even met, yet Xi Chongyang had already started discussing marriage arrangements with the Zhong family parents, as if wanting to drag him to the Civil Affairs Bureau immediately.

Marriage?
Ridiculous.

He had argued with Xi Chongyang, and that night, he bought a plane ticket and came overseas to relax.

Xi Shi took a sip of his drink, his brows furrowed, unable to shake off his frustration. He had originally planned to hunt for some action in the bar, but the thought of the marriage alliance and the supposedly intelligent blind date made him lose all interest.

He hated nerds.

Xi Shi slowly sipped his drink, not in a hurry, savoring it, clearly there to relax, not to drown his sorrows.

Zhong Yuxiao stood not far away, observing him calmly. Someone recognized him and said excitedly, “Night, is that you? What brings you here?”

Amore was Zhong Yuxiao’s usual haunt, and many people waited there hoping to run into him. But when it was close to the end of the semester, Zhong Yuxiao wouldn’t show up. Gradually, everyone understood the pattern and would stop “accidentally” showing up at that time and instead bombard him online.

This was one of the reasons why Zhong Yuxiao’s inbox was always overflowing with messages.

“Could it be because of Apollo?”

“Apollo?”

The man pointed at Xi Shi in the central booth. “That’s him. Everyone knows a high-quality gay came to Amore. The entire circle is talking about him these past few days. They call him Apollo, a man with godlike beauty.”

Zhong Yuxiao was speechless.

Little Shakespeare, Apollo, was that too much?

Zhong Yuxiao glanced at the booth again, alright, not really.

“You know, he’s a lot like you.”

He was also very attractive, a natural show-stopper.

He was also popular.

Zhong Yuxiao took a sip of his drink.

“He was obviously a top.”

“Yeah.”

“But everyone wants to top him.”

“Yeah.”

“And everyone is lining up to be his bottom.”

“I know.”

“And he’s rejecting all of them.”

“I see.”

“And they’re all falling for him.”

“That’s the point.”

Zhong Yuxiao looked at him, his eyes shining with interest. “You want me to go try?”

“Are you interested?”

“I think so.”

“Then I’ll bet you can’t make him fall for you.”

“And you’ll bet on me?”

“What’s your worth?”

Zhong Yuxiao didn’t answer, but looked at the central booth.

There, in the middle of Amore, the focus of everyone’s attention, the man sitting there was indeed the undisputed center of the entire bar. Since his appearance, it was as if the atmosphere of the bar had changed.

Zhong Yuxiao tapped the bar. “A Godfather.”

The Godfather was a classic cocktail. In a glass full of ice, Scotch whisky and amaretto liqueur collided, the strong taste with a hint of sweetness. Amore’s Godfather used a sweeter amaretto, which Zhong Yuxiao favored.

Feeling the hot sweetness spreading from his tongue to his throat, Zhong Yuxiao straightened his back slightly. “It’s already nine o’clock, and so many people are still trying to pick him up.”

He said it as if in passing, but he had immediately opened Xu Linfeng’s floodgates.

“Of the six people who just tried to hit on him, four had tried before. I realized that gays are like unkillable cockroaches. Normal people would give up after being rejected, but they would change their clothes and try again.”

Zhong Yuxiao quietly reminded him, “I’m also gay.”

Xu Linfeng choked and quickly changed his words. “I realized that gays have a strong, indomitable spirit. They would bravely pursue the man they like.”

He chuckled, his tone flattering. “And they will also work hard to complete their assignments and get the best grades in their major.”

Zhong Yuxiao had too many contradictions. He was experienced but had a good reputation, he had a bad reputation but got good grades. These seemingly contradictory labels existed perfectly in him, creating an unpredictable image.

Playing was something he was good at, and academics were something he excelled at.

“Night, maybe you can try to flirt with someone, I think you can make that Apollo fall for you.”

“You think too highly of me.”

“Or maybe you’re just afraid?”

Zhong Yuxiao ignored him and focused on his drink. “A Godfather.”

The bartender quickly made it for him, putting it on the bar. Zhong Yuxiao picked it up and took a sip. The strong alcohol mixed with the sweet almond liqueur, and Zhong Yuxiao’s eyes narrowed slightly.

“Night, why don’t you just try it?”

“I’m not interested.”

“…”

Zhong Yuxiao had always been a top in his relationships, and he would never be the one to chase others. The top in the central booth, although very eye-catching, was not yet worthy of his attention.

“Night, I’m telling you, that guy is definitely not simple, he’s already rejected at least twenty people, but people are still throwing themselves at him.”

“And that’s what makes him so interesting.” Zhong Yuxiao said with a smile, his tone casual.

Xu Linfeng raised his eyebrows, then lowered his voice. “I’ll bet you can’t make him fall for you.”

“Okay.”

“If you lose, you have to let me…”

“I won’t lose.” Zhong Yuxiao said confidently, his eyes fixed on the central booth.

Xu Linfeng’s heart skipped a beat, and before he could finish, Zhong Yuxiao took his drink and walked away.

“You should know, I never lose.”

Xu Linfeng was stunned, his eyes widening as he watched Zhong Yuxiao walk towards the central booth.

“Holy shit!”

Xu Linfeng couldn’t help but shout, his voice almost breaking, his face a mix of shock and excitement.

Zhong Yuxiao walked towards the central booth, each step slow and steady.

Just as he was about to reach the booth, Zhong Yuxiao casually glanced inside and met the beautiful peach blossom eyes.

He wasn’t exaggerating when he said those eyes were unforgettable. He saw the hint of interest in those eyes, and as a fellow top, he knew exactly what that gaze meant.

He was clearly easy to pick up.

Zhong Yuxiao’s lips curled slightly, and he quickly looked away, walking past the booth.

He stopped behind the booth, raised his glass, as if celebrating his victory, and said to the dumbfounded Xu Linfeng, “Long time no see, would you buy me a drink?”

My Arranged Marriage Partner Has Two Faces

书名:联姻对象有两副嘴脸
Status: Completed Author: Native Language: Chinese

Forced into an arranged marriage and living under the same roof, they establish three rules: maintain a superficial husband-husband relationship and divorce amicably after a year.

One day, Xi Shi is drinking with friends at a bar, complaining incessantly: "My arranged marriage partner is a weirdo. White shirt, black glasses, thermos full of goji berries, old-fashioned, abstinent, and no fun. He's in bed by ten every night. Ugh, even looking at him makes me lose my appetite."

Neon lights flash. A friend stares at a man in a booth: "Holy crap, that guy is so handsome! He's a god!"

Xi Shi glances over dismissively and instantly turns to stone.

Still in the same white shirt, but without his glasses, his prim and proper arranged marriage partner is being given a lap dance.

Xi Shi, feeling utterly betrayed, rips the dancer off Zhong Yuxiao: "Get lost."

The people in the booth tease: "Oh, which little lover is this who came looking for you? Spicy."

"My wife."

"...Doesn't seem like your type."

The man looks up, his voice languid: "Indeed, not my type."

"An arranged marriage partner forced on me by my family."

Xi Shi laughs in anger: Fuck.

This arranged marriage partner of his is interesting.

Haha! Even in an alternate reality, Zhong Yuxiao will always catch Xi Shi’s attention, but never make his own interest in the other party known. I just wonder if Xi Shi will play hard to get, since Zhong Yuxiao clearly ignored him, or if he’ll go straight for the kill like in the original storyline.

On a side note, the chapter repeats itself halfway, but with slight changes both in some sentences and in the circumstances with which Zhong Yuxiao decides to approach Xi Shi.

Thanks for the chapter! 😀
