Chapter 44
Xi Shi’s first thing he noticed was those long legs, straight and lean, encased in suit pants.
Not a rejection tactic, he was a leg person, his partner’s legs had to be pleasing to his eyes before he would consider their face.
He had been sitting in the bar for a few days and did encounter a few long-legged bottoms that met his standards, but they lacked a certain wow factor. It was like eating abalone in Buddha Jumps Over the Wall so often, that being served a plate of dried abalone would no longer pique his interest.
Or maybe it was because he had too many partners. Those of similar quality were no longer able to attract him.
But the person walking towards him wasn’t on the same level as those dried abalone, or even Buddha Jumps Over the Wall. When he saw his face, Xi Shi was instantly smitten, only one thought in his mind – to take him down.
Xi Shi put down his glass, ready to accept the drink that the other man was going to give him.
It was an unspoken rule. At the bar, if you were interested in someone, you would offer them a drink, or have them offer you one. Then, it would be a natural progression to go home together.
This person was approaching with a drink, he was definitely going to invite him—
Xi Shi’s eyes widened slightly, a look of shock on his face. That person didn’t stop, merely glancing at him, then calmly looking away, walking right past him.
As if he was a blind man who couldn’t see people’s faces.
Holy shit?!
Wasn’t he coming for him?
Xi Shi, who had been hit on countless times for the past few days, felt his confidence take a hit. He, who had been a seasoned player on the scene, was being ignored for the first time.
“Long time no see, would you buy me a drink?”
The voice came from behind him, and Xi Shi turned around, a bit aggressively.
He wanted to see just what kind of person had more charm than him.
And then Xi Shi saw Xu Linfeng standing opposite Zhong Yuxiao.
“…………”
That’s it?
Xi Shi fell silent.
Xu Linfeng secretly winked at Zhong Yuxiao. “What are you playing at?”
Zhong Yuxiao’s expression made him think of Nick from Zootopia, secretly plotting something.
Zhong Yuxiao didn’t answer, but held out his glass. “If you won’t even buy me a drink, you’re making me sad.”
Xu Linfeng: “?”
Second Young Master Zhong was richer than him, and had just told him to save his money to get his brain checked. How could he pretend to ask him to buy a drink?
Something was definitely off. Having spent more than six years with Zhong Yuxiao abroad, Xu Linfeng knew that something was wrong, and didn’t dare say a word.
“I’ll buy you a drink.”
The three words were spoken clearly, and along with them, a hand with distinct knuckles was extended towards Zhong Yuxiao.
Xi Shi looked Zhong Yuxiao in the eyes. “Give me the glass.”
They were gold.
The lighting in the bar wasn’t very bright, and Zhong Yuxiao’s eyes had a dark golden hue, like solidified liquid gold.
Zhong Yuxiao showed a hint of confusion at just the right time. “Hmm?”
Xi Shi glanced at Xu Linfeng dismissively, scoffed, and then nodded towards the booth. “Forget about him, come sit with me. What do you want to drink? I’ll buy you.”
Xu Linfeng was dumbfounded. He felt like he had just been looked down upon, but that wasn’t important. What was important was what he just saw!
The new top was taking the initiative to approach Zhong Yuxiao!
“Then I’ll be imposing.” Zhong Yuxiao followed him to the booth. Before turning away, he raised his eyebrow at the stunned Xu Linfeng, a look of triumph on his face.
Xu Linfeng belatedly realized that Zhong Yuxiao was doing it on purpose!
He said he wasn’t interested, hmph, he was already playing his little tricks.
Zhong Yuxiao followed Xi Shi to the booth. He had often reserved this central booth before, but sitting here now felt different.
Maybe it was because the former was due to his wealth, and the latter was due to his face, making him feel a sense of accomplishment.
Xi Shi waved his hand. “What do you want to drink?”
More than a dozen different bottles of alcohol were on the table, mostly the high-end ones at Amore. No wonder people were throwing themselves at him. This little Apollo not only had a great face but also a lot of money.
Zhong Yuxiao casually pointed at a bottle. “I don’t know much about alcohol, how about this one?”
The little Apollo clearly had a strong sense of machismo. If he acted too experienced, he might scare him away. He had to take it slow.
Zhong Yuxiao was secretly formulating a plan to capture the sun.
“You don’t know?”
No wonder, if you understood alcohol, you wouldn’t have taken a liking to that guy just now.
Xi Shi picked up the bottle with the highest alcohol content. “This one is more suitable for someone who doesn’t understand alcohol.”
Zhong Yuxiao raised an eyebrow, but didn’t say anything.
As he was about to pour the alcohol into the glass, Xi Shi’s hand suddenly paused.
“What’s wrong?” Zhong Yuxiao pretended to be concerned.
Xi Shi shook his head. “It’s nothing.”
He put down the bottle and picked up another one with a lower alcohol content.
“Changing your mind?”
It was clear that Xi Shi wanted to get him drunk. That was a common trick at bars, but he had changed his target.
“I just think this one is more suitable for our first meeting.” The amber liquid reflected dazzling light in the glass. Xi Shi handed him the glass. “To you, your eyes are really special.”
Zhong Yuxiao had been addicted to drinking for a while and had tried all the alcohols at Amore. He preferred sweet drinks over hard liquor.
And coincidentally, the drink Xi Shi poured for him was sweet.
It gave him a feeling that, perhaps, this wouldn’t be so bad.
“Thank you.”
Two people were drinking together, and those who were watching from the bar were shocked. Frankly, if it wasn’t Zhong Yuxiao, if anyone else had been in his place, they wouldn’t have attracted so much attention.
“Is that Night?”
“Holy shit, why is he here? And sitting at the central booth.”
“It’s obvious, they’ve caught each other’s eye.”
“But Night is a top, and Apollo is also a top, aren’t they a mismatch?”
“When two tops meet, one is bound to become a bottom. I bet Night will remain a top.”
“Why? I think Apollo is also a top, and he seems to be in control.”
“That’s because you don’t know how strong Night is.”
“I think this is just Apollo seducing him, and Night just going with the flow. They’ll be having a ‘trying to top, but getting topped instead’ scene in bed later.”
The music at the bar drowned out the whispers and chatter, and Xi Shi didn’t know that the gays who had just approached him were now discussing whether he would end up being topped.
Just like how he didn’t know that he had taken a liking to the famous top in the K-Chinese gay scene.
“Are you here to travel?”
“Studying abroad.” Zhong Yuxiao looked at him. “Are you here to play?”
“Mm-hmm.”
Xi Shi didn’t want to say too much, nor did he chase after the answer. These things were all about flirtatious back-and-forths. Overdoing it or talking too deeply would ruin the mood.
Zhong Yuxiao caressed his glass, mentioning a few famous scenic spots in KTV. “You can go sightseeing if you have time, the scenery is nice.”
Xi Shi glanced at him, saying slowly, “There’s no fun in sightseeing alone.”
That was true. He didn’t even want to leave his hotel room alone. He had spent the entire day lounging around and even ordered his meals from the hotel.
Zhong Yuxiao didn’t take the bait. Xi Shi asked again, “Do you know where I can find a student guide here? Being in a foreign country, it might be more fun with someone. I’m not picky, just someone like you is fine.”
The hints were becoming increasingly obvious.
“Someone like me is hard to find.” Zhong Yuxiao changed the subject. “It’s almost the end of the semester, most students are busy with their assignments.”
“What about you?”
“I need to go back and do my assignments too.” Zhong Yuxiao put down his glass.
After having those two drinks, plus this one, while he wasn’t drunk, the alcohol was taking effect, and his sleepiness was returning.
Even if the man in front of him was attractive, it couldn’t compare to the temptation of sleep. Right now, Zhong Yuxiao had no worldly desires.
“…You need to go back and do your assignments?”
Xi Shi was flabbergasted, not knowing what expression to make, feeling like he had pulled out a safety T, only for the other person to pull out a children’s smartwatch instead.
Oh, no, it was a homework notebook, because the person in front of him seemed mature.
“Just kidding, I’m not going to do homework.” Zhong Yuxiao yawned. “I’m sleepy.”
“…”
With homework mentioned first, even “I’m sleepy” became more acceptable.
Xi Shi nodded stiffly.
Zhong Yuxiao looked at him deeply and suddenly said, “I’ll buy you a drink next time, Apollo.”
Xi Shi froze. “Huh? Apollo?”
Was he calling him?
“Apollo is what everyone calls you. They think you’re as handsome as the Greek god of the sun.” Zhong Yuxiao was amused by the description.
In Xi Shi’s stunned silence, he added casually, “It does suit you.”
At least it suited him better than Little Shakespeare.
Xi Shi’s mind went blank for a moment, and he took a couple of seconds to react. “So you knew me?”
“You’ve been quite famous at Amore recently. People who come here should know about you.”
Xi Shi remembered his behavior of acting like he didn’t see him and belatedly realized he had been tricked. “So you did that on purpose just now?!”
Hmph, he thought his charm was irresistible. How could he lose to that seemingly unintelligent guy?
This guy had a good eye.
Xi Shi suppressed his smugness and said righteously, “You tricked me into drinking, you have to compensate me.”
Zhong Yuxiao tilted his head. “Then I’ll buy you a drink next time?”
“You don’t have to buy me anything.”
The young master had more than enough money, he didn’t need compensation in the form of money.
He had other plans.
Xi Shi leaned closer, his gaze lingering on Zhong Yuxiao’s collarbone, where there was a small mole, very sensual, making him want to lick it.
His warm, alcohol-tinged breath brushed against his neck. Zhong Yuxiao subconsciously pulled back, leaning against the back of the booth.
From behind, it looked like Xi Shi had pushed him into the sofa.
The gays who were secretly observing all had their eyes wide. Was this the Night they knew?
Xi Shi stopped a few inches away, his voice low, “What should I call you, Daphne?”
In Greek mythology, the sun god Apollo had many lovers. He fell in love with Daphne because of Cupid’s arrow, but they were never together. Later generations often viewed this tragic love story as being “fated to be together, but destined to be apart.”
“Wanting what you can’t have suits you and me. You can call me Night.” Zhong Yuxiao’s throat bobbed, his voice filled with a captivating smile. “It suits Apollo, don’t you think?”
It’s interesting to see Zhong Yuxiao play Xi Shi, but I would love to see Xi Shi outplay him for once. Either way, it’s going to be even more interesting when they start falling for each other just to discover they’re in an arranged marriage, lol.
Thanks for the chapter! 😀
