Chapter 33
After a rain, it was as if winter had arrived overnight.
A thin layer of frost condensed on the windows in the early morning. The warm, small night light in the room had been on all night and was finally turned off by a small hand.
Shen Tiantian jumped out of bed and first went to his wardrobe to find his clothes for the day.
After admiring his outfit in the mirror every day and preening for a while, Shen Tiantian lifted his little chin and ran downstairs full of energy.
Shen Jinfeng was already sitting in the dining room, eating. There was a faint dark circle under his eyelids, clearly indicating that he hadn’t slept well.
He looked up and saw the little one running over full of energy. Without thinking, Shen Jinfeng knew what Shen Tiantian was going to do.
Sure enough, Shen Tiantian lifted his little neck and held out his small hand.
“Give me the cake.”
He was like a little debt collector.
Having to deal with such a little ancestor, Shen Jinfeng was both angry and amused.
“Don’t worry, you’ll get your share. After breakfast, I’ll have Auntie Mu give it to you.”
Only then was Shen Tiantian satisfied. He put on his bib and sat down to eat breakfast.
He stuffed a piece of shumai into his mouth and asked indistinctly:
“Where did Qin Yezi go? He’ll be hungry if he doesn’t eat.”
Sometimes, Shen Jinfeng really couldn’t understand how other people’s children were so sensible, considerate, and capable, while Shen Tiantian was confident, plump, and could eat a lot.
“Qin Ye had breakfast early in the morning and is already helping Auntie Mu tidy up the cabinets. Not like some children who only crawl out of bed when the sun is high in the sky.”
Shen Tiantian felt a little guilty at his brother’s words, but he firmly denied that his brother was talking about him.
Shen Tiantian buried his head and wolfed down his food. After eating and drinking his fill, he finally remembered his old father whom he had thrown to the back of his mind.
“Yesterday… I called Daddy yesterday, but no one answered.”
Shen Jinfeng was not surprised at all, and the curve of his lips even carried a hint of mockery.
“Don’t worry, nothing will happen to him. He was probably in a meeting during the day, with his phone on silent. As for the night, that’s not something a little brat like you needs to worry about.”
Shen Yuanchuan had many female confidantes. Otherwise, where would so many children have come from?
Shen Tiantian didn’t understand. He held his milk glass and thought for a while, then his eyes suddenly widened.
“Big brother, could it be that… Daddy died last night?”
Shen Jinfeng was about to say no when he saw Shen Tiantian lean his little head closer, press his little face against his shoulder, and say in a milky voice:
“Then if Daddy is dead, can I inherit the company?”
Shen Jinfeng: “?”
“You really are Shen Yuanchuan’s great, filial son.”
Shen Jinfeng was at a loss for whether to laugh or cry. He reached out and pinched the tender flesh of Shen Tiantian’s cheek.
“Shen Yuanchuan is not going to die. Can you stop thinking about inheriting the company all day? You still have two older brothers. It won’t be your turn for a while.”
Shen Tiantian was not happy. He huffed at him and moved his little bottom to sit back in his seat.
Another day of not inheriting the company. Shen Tiantian was so worried he downed a small glass of milk.
After eating, Shen Jinfeng saw Shen Tiantian running around the house with a toy airplane, looking happy and carefree, and couldn’t help but let out a soft “tsk.”
How is this little brat so happy every day?
Last night too, Shen Jinfeng had thought that when he came back, he would see a little cub huddled in bed, secretly wiping away tears, scared by the rainy night.
But not only did Shen Tiantian not cry, he even had the energy to fight with him.
He seemed to be born with the ability to be happy.
No matter how sad or upset he was, he could always take good care of himself.
But this definitely had nothing to do with the Shen family’s genes.
The Shen family’s genes were bad and selfish. From Shen Yuanchuan to Shen Xiuze and Shen Jinfeng, not a single one was a good person.
Thinking this, Shen Jinfeng’s eyes showed a hint of mockery as he walked towards the little tyke.
“Don’t you want to inherit the company? Then what are you playing for?”
Shen Jinfeng used his PUA spirit, lifted the little one up, and poked Shen Tiantian’s little forehead, making his little head sway left and right.
“Do you know how hard it is to manage a company? Not to mention, you’re not far from the college entrance exam. How can you still be in the mood to play?”
Shen Tiantian felt that his little head was like a small rubber ball, being patted with a thumping sound.
“I… I know!”
Shen Tiantian held his head with his small hands and kicked his little feet in the air.
“Then when is my college entrance exam?” Shen Tiantian asked.
Shen Jinfeng thought for a moment and replied, “Not far. Only about… fifteen years.”
Shen Tiantian counted on his little hands, but he couldn’t count to fifteen, and his little expression couldn’t help but show some confusion.
Shen Jinfeng looked at his illiterate appearance, feeling exasperated.
“Don’t stay at home and play today. Come to school with me.”
Shen Tiantian was still confused. “School?”
Although Shen Jinfeng’s studio had been established for several years, he was actually only a freshman in college.
When he had just started college a while ago, Shen Jinfeng had been running between school and his studio and had been very busy for a while.
Fortunately, the school’s curriculum had been relaxed for the past half a month, so Shen Jinfeng could stay at his studio and catch up on the work of his largest investment project.
Fortunately, he had nothing to do today. Shen Jinfeng took the illiterate cub to school to let him experience the rich learning atmosphere.
After a rain, although it was gradually clearing up, the sky was still covered in a layer of gray mist, gloomy and overcast.
On the campus, there was always a youthful atmosphere, no matter when or where.
The young faces were like unripe fruits hanging on the branches, tender yet vigorous, full of vitality everywhere.
On the road in front of the dormitory building, a boy in a long gray wool coat was holding a round little child whose feet were nowhere to be seen, walking slowly forward.
Shen Tiantian was wrapped in a thick coat, with a scarf wrapped around his neck several times. He couldn’t see his feet when he looked down, and the walk was extremely difficult.
Finally seeing some steps, Shen Tiantian immediately broke free from his second brother’s hand and ran to the steps to sit down.
“I’m so tired. I’m not walking anymore.”
Shen Tiantian sat there, propped up his little feet, and his attitude of refusing to walk was very obvious.
Shen Jinfeng knew that the little one was going to act up. He looked up at the other students who were looking over, took a step forward, and lifted the little one up.
“You’re as fat as a ball. It would be a miracle if you could walk.”
Shen Tiantian couldn’t stand it when people called him fat. He was a child who cared a lot about his pride. He immediately bared his teeth and bit Shen Jinfeng’s chin.
Shen Jinfeng’s hand trembled in pain, and he almost threw Shen Tiantian out on the spot.
Fortunately, classes had just ended, and waves of students were coming in and out of the dormitory building. Shen Jinfeng, concerned about his pride, managed to hold it in.
He gave the little one’s bottom a light pat and said through gritted teeth:
“You just wait.”
Shen Tiantian covered his little ears, indicating that he hadn’t heard.
Shen Jinfeng’s dormitory was on the third floor. He carried the heavy, fleshy little thing upstairs, pushed open the dormitory door, and first put the little one on the floor.
As soon as Shen Tiantian touched the floor, he quickly slipped into a corner and shouted in a low voice:
“You’re not allowed to hit me, or I’ll start to cry.”
Shen Jinfeng wiped the saliva from his chin. Seeing the tooth mark on his chin in the mirror, he let out a long sigh.
“Having you as a little brother is really a great suffering.”
Shen Tiantian, on the other hand, grinned and giggled.
Lifting his head, Shen Tiantian sized up this unfamiliar dormitory.
Six bunk beds with desks underneath, each cabinet was filled with clothes and books, the aisle was narrow, and several stools were placed haphazardly.
Shen Jinfeng’s roommates were not the clean type. Shen Jinfeng, who had stayed in the dormitory for a few days, felt as if he were sleeping in a pigsty.
Every night, there would be various snores and teeth-grinding sounds, forming a torturous requiem.
Just then, a roommate pushed the door open and came back. Seeing Shen Jinfeng, he cursed what the hell.
“Shen Jinfeng? Why are you back?”
Having not seen Shen Jinfeng for more than ten days, the roommate thought that Shen Jinfeng was going to move out and not come back.
In front of outsiders, Shen Jinfeng always wore a perfect smile, like a gentle shell, but inside he was still cold and indifferent.
“I’m not busy lately, so I came back for class.”
The roommate nodded, scratched the back of his head, and didn’t know what to talk about with this rich second-generation young master.
He felt that there was a transparent wall between Shen Jinfeng and the people in the dormitory. They couldn’t understand what he was busy with every day, and Shen Jinfeng never participated in their conversations about basketball, internet cafes, and the like.
The roommate had come back to get a book for class. As soon as he walked in, he saw a toddler-sized child standing in the corner.
“Holy crap, Shen Jinfeng, you have a child?!”
Shen Jinfeng was speechless for a moment and said:
“That’s my little brother. Where would I get a son this big?”
Only then did the roommate realize his mistake. He laughed awkwardly and looked at the child in the corner.
The child was round and cute, wrapped in a scarf that covered most of his face, leaving only a pair of dark, watery eyes.
From a few steps away, you could clearly see his eyelashes, long and curved, like little brushes when they blinked.
“Your little brother is quite cute.”
The roommate rummaged on his desk, found a sausage he had bought before, and stuffed it into Shen Tiantian’s hand.
“Little brother, have some sausage.”
Shen Tiantian’s eyes curved. In front of strangers, he was particularly well-behaved and cute.
“Thank you, big brother.” His voice was also soft.
The roommate felt that his heart had been melted by the cuteness. He squatted down and watched the little one chew on the sausage with his mouth full, and couldn’t help but show an uncle-like smile.
“Shen Jinfeng, look at your little brother. He must be starving.”
Shen Jinfeng stood to the side and sneered.
“Of course. It’s been three minutes since he had anything. He’s already gotten thin.”
Shen Tiantian didn’t know that his brother was mocking him and took it seriously. He reached out and touched his round little belly.
“I… I am a little thin.”
Shen Tiantian smiled, his eyes curving into crescents, his little expression full of anticipation.
“Soon, I’ll be thinner than my big brother.”
Shen Jinfeng looked at this little fool, closed his eyes, and slapped his forehead.
So foolish. He’s a lost cause.
