Chapter 64
Several clouds drifted across the sky. The winter sun, like golden scales, shone through the treetops, and small, bright, round spots swayed gently with the wind.
The car stopped at the villa entrance. Shen Tiantian, who had taken a nap in the car, jumped down with his small, long legs.
It had been almost half a year since he had returned to the Shen family, and Shen Tiantian’s short little legs had clearly grown longer. He now called himself a “long-legged” kid.
He happily ran from the lawn into the house, calling out a series of names.
“Auntie Mu-Mu, Butler Uncle, Sister Ranran…”
Shen Xiuze followed him with two large suitcases, listening to the cheerful little milky voice echoing throughout the villa.
The villa, which had felt cold and quiet a few days ago, seemed to have been injected with a certain vitality at this moment, instantly becoming bustling and cramped.
Auntie Mu came out of the kitchen, wiping her hands. Seeing the sweet little bean, Tiantian, her eyes and brows were filled with a smile.
“Oh my, our Tiantian is back.”
Tiantian nodded, hugged Auntie Mu’s leg, and was as sticky as a little rice cake.
“Did you miss me, Auntie Mu-Mu? When I was at the film crew, I even dreamed of Auntie Mu-Mu.”
Auntie Mu was old and loved it when Tiantian acted spoiled and cute.
“I did. As soon as you left, the whole villa felt cold and cheerless.”
It was empty and quiet. Without Shen Tiantian’s chirping voice, it felt awkward everywhere.
Tiantian acted spoiled for a while, and without even having time to eat lunch, he took out the C City specialty he had bought and distributed it to the aunties and uncles.
After distributing it, he clapped his small hands, his mission accomplished.
“Alright, time to eat.”
Tiantian pattered to the dining room, skillfully put on his bib, held his special “meal-eating” spoon, and wolfed down his food.
Shen Xiuze, who had come in a step later, glanced at the specialty in the others’ hands and lowered his eyes without a word.
After lunch, Shen Xiuze had a company meeting in the afternoon. He picked up his coat and went out.
Once he started to get busy with company matters, it was as if there was no end.
Shen Xiuze had a lot of work piled up from the past few days. He was busy until almost midnight before he drove home, exhausted.
The low-key, luxurious car cut through the night, and the bright headlights, like a sharp sword, illuminated the iron gate of the villa.
Usually at this time, the villa was already quiet and dark.
But tonight was a little strange. When Shen Xiuze’s car drove into the yard, the iron chandelier in the middle of the lawn was still on.
There was also a faint light coming from the living room of the villa, and a chubby little figure could be vaguely seen on the curtains of the floor-to-ceiling window.
“Tiantian?” Shen Xiuze called out as he reached the entryway.
Shen Tiantian was yawning, his small hands behind his back as he circled the sofa.
He was so sleepy that he even had to use his fingers to hold his eyelids open, struggling to open his two eyes to look at the returning Shen Xiuze.
“I’m so sleepy, I’m hallucinating.”
Shen Tiantian held his eyelids open with his hands, walked closer, and touched Shen Xiuze’s arm.
It was hard and carried the unique chill of a winter night.
His eyes then widened in surprise:
“It’s not a hallucination!”
Shen Xiuze pressed his lips into an amused smile and reached out to ruffle the little one’s messy, spiky little head.
“Why is Tiantian still not asleep?”
Shen Tiantian couldn’t help but yawn. Before he could answer, he heard Shen Jinfeng, who was coming from the dining room, say:
“He’s waiting for you.”
Tiantian hummed twice, his reaction much slower than usual. His little head whirred for a while, and he said slowly:
“Waiting for you.”
Shen Xiuze’s expression was a little disapproving. He frowned, and his cold and stern expression became serious.
“You don’t have to wait for me. When I’m busy with overtime, I can’t be sure when I’ll be back. What if I’m not back until the latter half of the night?”
Shen Tiantian was still young and needed more sleep.
Shen Jinfeng’s clear and moist eyes lifted. He folded his arms, let out a soft laugh, and signaled for Shen Xiuze to look at the table.
“Here, he’s waiting for you to come back to give you the gift specialty he picked out in C City.”
Shen Xiuze paused for a moment, turned his head to look at the small box on the coffee table, and a hint of fluctuation flashed in his dark, night-like eyes.
“This is… for me?”
Shen Jinfeng had come back early today. He had arrived home before it was completely dark. As soon as he got out of the car, he was blocked by the little one who was shaking his head, and was given a small gift box.
Thinking of Shen Tiantian’s appearance when he gave the gift, with his little neck craned, like a little tyrant, Shen Jinfeng couldn’t help but want to laugh.
“That’s right. Tiantian was afraid you wouldn’t know it was from him, so he insisted on waiting for you to come back to tell you.”
Shen Tiantian, who insisted on leaving his name when he gave a gift, yawned, fell onto the sofa in a daze, and fell asleep on the spot, hugging a small pillow.
Shen Jinfeng shook his head helplessly, walked over, and carried him back to his bedroom.
Before going upstairs, Shen Jinfeng turned his head again and said:
“My box has a very, very ugly little horse figurine. I didn’t see yours.”
Shen Xiuze picked up the box.
After opening it, it was a cute little plush cat doll.
The little cat was made very realistically, with long, flowing fur, pure white all over, and blue, ocean-like eyes.
At a glance, Shen Xiuze’s eyes couldn’t help but light up. He reached out and pinched the little cat.
“Very cute,” Shen Xiuze’s lips curved into a smile.
That night, Shen Xiuze placed the little cat doll on his bedside table.
His room was decorated according to his own preferences, simple and cold, looking very much like a hotel’s model room.
Shen Xiuze had also hidden his love for cute things very well. The entire bedroom had almost nothing that could be associated with the words “fluffy” and “cute.”
But today was different.
Before going to bed, Shen Xiuze picked up this little cat doll and pinched the little cat’s black, round nose.
Really cute.
Next door bedroom.
Shen Jinfeng stared at his little horse figurine, looked at it from left to right, folded his arms, and couldn’t help but fall silent.
The little horse was like a cartoon character from a prank, with two different-sized eyes, and its four legs were all running in different directions. It was really bizarre.
Shen Jinfeng thought of Shen Xiuze’s little cat, and his brows furrowed.
Why is the one for Shen Xiuze so cute.
And the one for him is so funny?
He really couldn’t figure it out. Shen Jinfeng simply slapped this ugly little horse, huffed, and lay down to sleep.
The day was bright.
More and more clouds gathered in the sky, blocking the rare winter sun, and the weather looked a little miserable.
Shen Tiantian slept until almost noon. Just as he was about to wake up, he was woken up by the ring of his small watch.
“Hello?”
Qin Ye, who was abroad, jumped up from his chair, rubbed his tired eyes, and said:
“Tiantian, are you awake?”
The time difference between them was almost twelve hours. Qin Ye knew that Tiantian liked to sleep in, so he had waited until it was late at night on his side before calling Shen Tiantian.
Shen Tiantian lay on the bed, his face buried in the pillow, his eyelids half-open, yawning.
“Almost. I’m about to wake up.”
Qin Ye’s voice immediately lowered, and he said in a low voice:
“Then do you want to sleep a little longer? I can wait for you for a while.”
Tiantian climbed out of bed, a quilt that had somehow ended up on his head. He messily pulled the quilt off and crawled out.
“I’m not sleeping anymore. My tummy is hungry. I’m going to eat breakfast.”
Qin Ye silently corrected in his heart, it should be lunch.
“Have you finished filming your drama? I went to a tutoring class yesterday and came back too late to call you.”
Shen Tiantian ran out in his small slippers, hummed twice, and said:
“I’m done. Yezi, I even brought you a specialty from C City!”
Qin Ye’s little eyes instantly lit up, and he shouted excitedly, “Really?”
Shen Tiantian hummed again, washed his face in a hurry, and without even drying the water droplets, he pattered downstairs.
“That’s right. It’s very, very far from you. The butler uncle said it will take a long time to mail it.”
C City didn’t actually have any particularly famous specialties.
However, because of the film city, there were many small stalls selling cultural and creative figurines, which had led to a variety of plush dolls.
On his second day in C City, Shen Tiantian had gone for a walk with the butler uncle.
He had picked out a beautiful and noble cat for his big brother, which looked very much like his big brother when he looked at people with narrowed eyes. For his second brother, it was an ugly-cute little horse, which looked very much like his second brother when he was hit in the stomach and grimaced.
For Qin Ye, it was an all-green leaf ornament.
It was green, but fluffy, and a little cute.
Qin Ye listened to Shen Tiantian on the other end and couldn’t help but look forward to it.
“Thank you, Tiantian. I will definitely cherish it.”
After hanging up the phone, perhaps because he was too excited, Qin Ye couldn’t sleep. He ran to his mother’s bedroom next door and told her the good news.
“Mommy, Tiantian gave me a small gift.”
Qin Ye’s posture was upright. He stood there like a small pine tree, but his expression was a rare excitement.
Qin Bailan knew her son. He had always been a serious little adult since he was young and rarely had such a cheerful and happy time.
Qin Bailan had to manage the huge Qin Group and was indeed not concerned enough about Qin Ye’s life.
Seeing Qin Ye’s eyes light up with joy every time he finished a call with Tiantian, Qin Bailan couldn’t help but feel grateful.
“Really? Then has Qin Ye ever thought of giving Tiantian a special little gift too?”
This time, Qin Ye was even more excited. His lead-gray eyes were incredibly bright, and he wished he didn’t have to sleep and could go and pick out a gift for Tiantian overnight.
It was Qin Bailan who held him down and made Qin Ye lie down obediently to sleep.
In China, thousands of miles away.
Shen Tiantian ran all the way to the dining room. Just as he sat down to eat, he saw Shen Yuanchuan, whom he hadn’t seen in a long time, walk in.
Glancing at his cheap dad who had also come to eat, Tiantian didn’t say anything, bit into the braised pork, and his little cheeks chewed with great effort.
Shen Yuanchuan had seen Shen Jinfeng and Shen Xiuze’s posts on his social media last night.
The two of them, as if they had planned it, had posted one after another in the middle of the night.
A picture of a little cat doll, and a picture of a little horse figurine.
A mutual friend had liked it and asked:
[Who gave this? Such good taste?]
[Shen Xiuze: Tiantian gave it.]
Shen Jinfeng’s reply was even longer: [The little brat went to film and didn’t forget to bring me a figurine. It’s so ugly, it doesn’t look good anywhere.]
Someone else had asked:
[Where’s Yuanchuan? Why don’t you post a picture too?]
At that time, Shen Yuanchuan had just finished working overtime and was staying in the company’s lounge. Seeing this question, his heart was very sour.
Was it that he didn’t want to post?
It was that he didn’t have one at all!
Shen Yuanchuan hadn’t heard the butler report that Shen Tiantian had brought him a gift.
There was nothing he could do. The more he thought about it, the more sour he felt. Shen Yuanchuan, this person who was so busy he couldn’t even touch the ground, actually skipped a morning of work to go home.
But Shen Tiantian could really sleep. He had slept until noon before he got up.
Shen Yuanchuan suppressed his anxious mood, cleared his throat, and said:
“Tiantian, did you forget something?”
Tiantian tilted his head, thought for a while in confusion, and in Shen Yuanchuan’s brightening eyes, he had a sudden realization:
“I didn’t get any rice!”
No wonder the meat tasted so salty.
Pfft that was hilarious 😂 Tiantian being a foodie as usual and his dad kinda deserved this 🤭
