Chapter 28
After muting the noisy expert, Gu Chi happily began unpacking, a wide smile on his face.
There wasn’t much to unpack, but he needed to keep his hands busy to avoid laughing out loud. He was overjoyed to finally be sharing a bed with his little apprentice again!
Wen Linyu, not hearing a verbal response, watched Gu Chi’s slightly frantic unpacking, pulling out various items from his interspatial pouch, and couldn’t help but smile. He teased Gu Chi again:
“It’s not peak season. The next room should be empty. Should I call and ask?”
“No!” Gu Chi immediately replied. “I’m sleeping here.”
He looked at Wen Linyu accusingly: How can you go back on your word?
“Alright,” Wen Linyu said, suppressing his laughter. Seeing Gu Chi pull out two sets of clothes, he asked, “You brought clothes?”
Gu Chi handed him one of the sets: “It’s a cultivation robe. Try it on.”
Wen Linyu took the garment. It was incredibly soft, like silk, but different, radiating warmth like moonlight.
It was a close-fitting robe, without any patterns, its surface shimmering. It would probably look beautiful in the light.
“I should have given this to you sooner,” Gu Chi said. In fact, when he had packed his belongings and seen this robe, he had imagined dressing Wen Linyu in it himself.
The gossamer fabric would look stunning on Wen Linyu’s body.
He imagined undressing Wen Linyu, like that first night, and then dressing him in this robe.
Now, he still wanted to, but he knew it would be inappropriate. He didn’t want to anger Wen Linyu.
Wen Linyu didn’t overthink it, taking the robe to change. Putting it on, he realized something was amiss—it was transparent, extremely so. It had appeared white in his hands, but now, against his skin, it became increasingly translucent, until it was practically invisible.
But it hadn’t disappeared. He could feel the fabric against his skin, invisible yet enveloping him. It didn’t restrict his movements and was light and breathable, but he felt his face flush.
Thankfully, he hadn’t changed in front of Gu Chi.
He emerged from the bathroom, still wearing his regular clothes over the robe. Gu Chi asked: “How is it? Did you try it on?”
Wen Linyu nodded: “Yes.”
Gu Chi: “Do you like it?”
Wen Linyu’s face warmed slightly: “I do.”
Gu Chi beamed: “Good. It took me two nights to modify it.”
Wen Linyu was surprised: “You made it yourself?”
Gu Chi gave him a smug “of course” look. Crafting artifacts was child’s play for him, especially something meant for Wen Linyu, something so intimate.
And he had one too. Wasn’t this what they called “couple’s outfits”? Although invisible to others.
Wen Linyu’s face flushed even more, feeling enveloped not just by the robe, but by something more.
He went to the balcony to cool down. The room had a stunning view of the ocean, the setting sun painting the sky and water with vibrant hues.
He took a photo, intending to add it to his collection, then, remembering the person he wanted to share it with was right beside him, he turned to Gu Chi: “Look, isn’t it beautiful?”
Gu Chi approached, glancing at the photo, then at Wen Linyu’s smiling eyes: “Beautiful.”
He tentatively put his arm around Wen Linyu’s waist, his heart swelling with happiness when he didn’t pull away.
Wen Linyu chuckled softly, leaning closer, amplifying Gu Chi’s joy. He tightened his embrace, a contented sigh escaping his lips.
It felt like floating on a cloud, incredibly soft and comforting.
They enjoyed the view for a while before leaving the room to explore the island’s restaurants.
There weren’t many options. If they couldn’t find anything suitable, Wen Linyu would cook.
Although it wasn’t peak season, there were still a few tourists around. As a young couple walked past, Gu Chi’s gaze followed them, then returned to Wen Linyu.
He glanced at him several times before reaching out and taking his hand. Wen Linyu sighed, slightly exasperated: “Teacher, you don’t have to do that.”
He had thought he was the one who needed to be cautious.
He raised their joined hands, interlacing their fingers: “You can just do this.”
Gu Chi’s joy overflowed, calling Wen Linyu’s name repeatedly, the soft cloud turning into honey, sweet and intoxicating.
From then on, whenever they encountered anyone, Gu Chi would “casually” display their intertwined hands, his chin held high, clearly showing off.
The onlookers: …Okay.
998 clicked its tongue: “Look at him, so excited about holding hands. Just wait until he sees what the host has learned. He’ll lose his mind!”
Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be able to witness that, as it would definitely be censored.
998 brushed away its cyber snack crumbs and addressed Wen Linyu, who was having dinner with Gu Chi at a restaurant: “Host, I’m leaving now.”
Having witnessed the Demon Lord’s misery and the host’s happiness, it was satisfied. Its vacation was still long, and it had other worlds to explore!
Wen Linyu paused: “Okay, goodbye, Little Tong. And thank you.”
“Bye!” The little chick flapped its wings and vanished in a flash of light.
Silence returned. After dinner, they strolled along the beach and returned to their hotel room. Wen Linyu found a gift from Little Tong.
A pair of rings. Their appearance could be customized, and their main function was to sense each other’s location and distance, even across different dimensions, ensuring they would never lose contact.
Wen Linyu loved the gift, immediately designing the rings in his mind.
He then realized he hadn’t given Gu Chi a gift yet. He recalled Gu Chi’s anger and disbelief when he had given the little bird to Wen Xi, and felt a pang of guilt.
His teacher had wanted it so much, and he had been so careless.
He compensated with two kisses. Gu Chi, oblivious, was still reveling in the joy of sharing a bed and exchanging goodnight kisses with his little apprentice.
He felt lightheaded and giddy.
And he hadn’t realized the night was just beginning.
The kiss deepened, the heat rising, Gu Chi’s breath hot against his skin. He was both enthralled and reluctant to let go. Just as he pulled back slightly, his eyes widened, a surge of desire overwhelming him. He grasped Wen Linyu’s wrist.
Wen Linyu’s eyelashes fluttered. He looked up at him and softly asked: “Teacher, don’t you know how?”
Inspiration struck Gu Chi. He didn’t release his grip, but he loosened it slightly, allowing Wen Linyu to lead him, his voice husky: “I don’t. You seem to know what you’re doing. Teach me.”
Wen Linyu replied with a soft “Okay.”
The night was dark, the time long, the waves outside crashing against the shore, both fierce and gentle.
Wen Linyu didn’t leave the hotel room for several days, slightly regretting having provoked Gu Chi. A Demon Lord, who had spent millennia focused on cultivation and fighting, once unleashed, was… difficult to control. Gu Chi’s body was truly powerful.
He couldn’t keep up, but thankfully, the items he had acquired from 998’s system were very effective. With practice, he became more skilled, even his cultivation improving slightly.
Truly worthy of being a bestseller.
After several days of intimacy, basking in the sunlight on the beach, Wen Linyu felt like he had forgotten the passage of time. He took a few steps, then stopped, his legs suddenly heavy.
Gu Chi, ever attentive, immediately scooped him up, carrying him to a sunny spot, spreading a soft blanket, and gently setting him down. Moments later, a warm chest pressed against his back.
This level of attentiveness made Wen Linyu wonder: “Is someone still giving you advice?”
Gu Chi immediately banished the long-forgotten expert, denying it vehemently: “No!” He had mastered the art of pampering his wife through self-study, no external guidance required.
The expert, suddenly freed, woke up in his own bed, disoriented. The date confirmed that it hadn’t been a dream.
Wen Linyu, simply making casual conversation, continued to bask in the sunlight, gazing at the ocean. He then remembered their original purpose – tide pooling. They hadn’t even gone near the water.
But it didn’t matter anymore.
His hands were held captive, his fingers being played with, reminding him of Gu Chi’s actions when they first met.
As if he couldn’t get enough.
He felt the same.
Wen Linyu sat up slightly, taking Gu Chi’s hand, and under his puzzled gaze, produced the rings he had crafted, slipping one onto Gu Chi’s left ring finger.
Gu Chi’s eyes widened.
Wen Linyu placed the other ring in his palm: “Teacher, aren’t you going to put it on me?”
Gu Chi quickly took the ring, his hands slightly trembling as he found Wen Linyu’s finger and gently slid the ring on. He then placed their hands together, admiring the matching rings.
“When did you make these?”
Two black rings, each inlaid with a black gemstone, not quite wedding rings, but Gu Chi could sense their true purpose.
“Just these past few days,” Wen Linyu said, looking at him intently. “Now, no matter where we are, we’ll always find each other.”
Gu Chi’s heart swelled with emotion. He kissed Wen Linyu’s eyelids: “Of course.”
He wouldn’t let Wen Linyu out of his sight again, even without the rings. But he loved this gift, this symbol of their connection.
He felt giddy with happiness, admiring their joined hands for a long time before remembering something else: “Shouldn’t we have a proper ceremony?”
“We should invite some people. Your siblings, perhaps?”
“Where should we hold it? Should we go to my world? My butler would be delighted, and he can arrange everything…”
“A way back? Of course, that’s not a problem.”
“What else do you want? A private island? A giant cake? Jewels and flowers? No? That’s not acceptable! We should have everything everyone else has!”
…
That was an absolutely adorable end to a great novel! Thank you for your wonderful translation! ❤️
