Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 25: Spent a Hundred Taels

Every time Yun Huizhou used his lightness skill to carry him, Lian Li doubted whether the world he had transmigrated into was actually a wuxia world.

Soon, the two of them swept past the town’s walls and appeared outside the settlement.

Yun Huizhou still didn’t stop, though this time it was no longer the direct, flight-like lightness skill from before. Instead, he occasionally borrowed leverage from tree branches.

Lian Li thought to himself that perhaps there were two modes of lightness skills—one that used leverage points to consume less energy and save effort?

He didn’t know how long Yun Huizhou had been flying with him, but gradually, he began to hear the sounds of wild beasts.

Thinking of the three-headed coyotes he had seen at the beginning, he subconsciously hugged Yun Huizhou a bit tighter.

Noticing that his hands were ice-cold, Yun Huizhou assumed he was cold and channeled some internal energy into him.

Lian Li wasn’t actually cold, but the influx of internal energy did indeed make him feel much more comfortable, as if his entire body had lightened.

After a short while, Yun Huizhou’s speed slowed down.

He brought Lian Li down onto a rock beside a jungle path. After setting him down, Yun Huizhou closed his eyes.

Lian Li didn’t dare make a sound. Having spent so much time with Yun Huizhou, he knew that when he acted like this, he was listening to the movements in the surroundings.

On several occasions, he had listened for the movements of wild game in this exact manner before taking Lian Li along for an extra meal.

After about two minutes, Yun Huizhou opened his eyes and said, “There are no beasts around that pose a threat to you. Stay on this rock and don’t move for a moment. Feng Man will be here shortly.”

Lian Li looked at him, his eyes filled with confusion and a desire for answers.

Yun Huizhou explained, “Back when we were in Xianglai City, I was already scouting his whereabouts.”

As he spoke, he held up a single finger: “It cost a hundred taels.”

Lian Li: !!!

What a spendthrift!

Having only just become “overnight wealthy,” Lian Li knew that the amount Yun Huizhou spent just to track the movements of a petty man like Feng Man was equivalent to his entire current net worth. He felt an immense pang of heartache.

He had long known that Yun Huizhou was actually quite generous—lavish when he had money and calculating when he didn’t.

But he had never realized this man could be this extravagant.

Seeing the expression on Lian Li’s face, which was twisted with financial distress, Yun Huizhou knew he was mourning the money.

He reached out and smoothed Lian Li’s long hair, saying nothing more.

Lian Li sighed, refraining from saying anything to dampen the mood.

Yun Huizhou was spending his own money, and seeking out Feng Man was for the sake of helping him get revenge. If he said anything now, it would make him seem ungrateful.

He looked at Yun Huizhou standing before him, clutching his blade. Thinking about how such a high-spirited and arrogant person would eventually suffer a regression in martial arts and never progress again in that book, he felt a bitter taste in his heart.

This was clearly a person whose talent for martial arts was three points stronger than even the Male Lead’s. Otherwise, how could he have suppressed the Male Lead to take first place in the martial arts assembly while being a year younger?

Oh, right. This man also wanted to become the World’s Number One and find the World’s Number One Beauty to be his wife.

Recalling his previous suspicion, Lian Li hesitated. Should he have a talk with Yun Huizhou?

Should he tell him not to think about dating until after he became the World’s Number One?

Once he became the World’s Number One, what kind of wife couldn’t he have?

It was just that while they were quite familiar now, they hadn’t reached the point where he could casually interfere in the other’s romantic life.

Several thoughts swirled in his mind. Finally, Lian Li decided to wait until they returned to Drunken Dream Island to speak up.

Just as he finished his thought, his vision blurred.

Yun Huizhou was no longer standing in front of him. Instead, like a black crow, he swept toward a certain direction.

The shadows of the trees were thick. Soon, Lian Li couldn’t even see a glimpse of his silhouette.

He only heard the sound of clashing weapons coming from that direction.

Qiang! Qiang! Two sharp rings.

A figure suddenly bolted out from the distant woods, rushing straight toward Lian Li.

Lian Li was startled. Even if he couldn’t see the person’s face clearly, he could identify from the silhouette and the shadow of the clothing that it wasn’t Yun Huizhou.

Lian Li instinctively wanted to jump off the rock and run.

Before he could move, he heard a muffled groan.

Looking again, Feng Man seemed to have been hit by a heavy attack mid-air. He plummeted halfway and crashed onto the ground.

At this moment, Yun Huizhou also appeared. He descended from the air, standing beside Feng Man with his blade unsheathed, pressed against Feng Man’s neck.

Feng Man coughed, then pretended to know nothing as he said to Yun Huizhou, “The Champion’s heart is far too narrow, isn’t it? I merely said a few unintentional words during the banquet that day, yet it has incited you to hunt me down like this. Are you not afraid that the heroes of the world will mock you if they find out?”

Hearing this, Lian Li was practically laughed to anger.

Truly, how damn shameless. On the day of the banquet, he was the one who picked a fight, and Lian Li had merely talked back.

Then he had instigated the Five Seas Sect disciples to find Ma Tie to kidnap him, only to slip away early himself. Now that someone had come knocking on his door, he was pinning the blame back on Yun Huizhou.

Lian Li wanted to walk over and shout a few curses, but then he remembered how insidious this man was. If he got too close and was caught in a sneak attack, what would he do?

So he stopped his steps and remained standing on the rock, watching from there.

Yun Huizhou flicked his blade and looked at Feng Man, his eyes cold. He said, “Don’t pull this nonsense with me. You know exactly why I’ve come for you.”

Feng Man acted like a rogue: “Then I truly am unclear.”

Yun Huizhou ignored him further and simply called out to Lian Li, saying, “Didn’t you want to stab him once to vent your anger? Come here.”

With those words from Yun Huizhou, Lian Li hurriedly jumped down from the rock and ran toward them.

Yun Huizhou pulled a dagger from his waist and handed it to Lian Li.

Lian Li gripped the dagger, looking at Feng Man and then at Yun Huizhou. He whispered, “Are you sure it’s definitely him?”

He had heard Feng Man’s words and remembered that previously it was only the one-sided account of the Five Seas Sect disciples. He was afraid of getting the wrong person.

Feng Man also heard Lian Li’s words. He glanced at Lian Li, then lowered his eyes, a flash of mockery flickering within them.

“I’m sure. This was included in the hundred taels I spent,” Yun Huizhou said. “I wouldn’t have brought you here to kill someone without being absolutely certain.”

He didn’t think Lian Li shouldn’t have asked; on the contrary, he felt it was normal for Lian Li to ask such a thing.

Seeking verification from him first when in doubt, rather than blindly believing others—this was good.

Hearing Yun Huizhou say this, Lian Li nodded, his doubts vanished.

He gripped the dagger and looked down at Feng Man, preparing to squat down and stab him. This would be his first step in adapting to this world of killing and violence.

Suddenly, the blade in Yun Huizhou’s hand moved.

Feng Man immediately let out a shrill scream. Two bloody gashes appeared on both of his wrists.

An object resembling a nail fell beside his hand.

!!!

Lian Li: “He was going to ambush you!”

Yun Huizhou: “…Is there a possibility he was preparing to ambush you?”

Lian Li frowned, holding the dagger and momentarily unsure if he should squat down. He was afraid that if he got too close, this man might have another hidden trick up his sleeve.

The novel's supporting male character happened to be the great hero who had saved his puny life. All he knew was that this supporting character's martial arts skills would eventually deteriorate. To ensure the "golden thigh" he was clinging to grew even stronger, Lian Li began analyzing the reasons behind the stagnation of his protector's martial arts. After beating around the bush, he concluded that the big shot must have been plotted against while fighting for the hand of the "Number One Beauty Under Heaven." Not a big problem. He just needed to desensitize the golden thigh, seal his heart in cement, and make him focus solely on the Martial Dao! But who would have guessed that while he was busy clinging, the golden thigh's gaze started to look a bit off? It seemed he might have clung to the wrong... leg?
