Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 90: High Consumption

He could only mount a horse to find Lian Li from a higher vantage point.

However, Ice Treader refused to let him ride.

Yun Huizhou: “…”

At that moment, a massive cheer suddenly erupted from the crowd. Yun Huizhou turned his head and saw countless copper coins raining down from above.

Many people held their hands high, hoping to catch just one more.

However, although Yun Huizhou was in the center of the crowd, he was still quite far from the area closest to Hehui Tower.

The money wouldn’t reach his position; he wouldn’t be able to pick any up.

Helpless, he could only flip himself onto the horse Lian Li had been riding. Relying on being a head taller than the rest of the crowd, he attempted to locate Lian Li.

After three waves of copper coins were scattered, the rain of money stopped.

Many people thought it was over and began to disperse, walking outward.

Yun Huizhou finally spotted a familiar figure waving a hand while running toward him.

“Yun Huizhou! I grabbed fifteen wen!” Lian Li ran over, spreading his palm open toward him.

Inside were exactly fifteen copper coins.

At this moment, Lian Li’s hair and clothes were a bit disheveled, but his eyes shone with an indescribable excitement.

Yun Huizhou looked at Lian Li for a while, then glanced at the fifteen copper coins, deciding not to spoil Lian Li’s fun.

He said, “Not bad, not bad. I saw many people only get one or two coins. Those who got more than five were few and far between, and even more people didn’t get a single wen.”

Lian Li walked over to Ice Treader and flipped himself onto the horse’s back, his expression full of smugness. “I’m pretty amazing, right?”

“Amazing, amazing,” Yun Huizhou echoed, though his gaze fell upon Ice Treader.

The horse had been stubborn with him earlier and wouldn’t even let him mount, so why did it let Lian Li ride?

Ice Treader glanced at him, gave a snort, and then turned its head away, refusing to look at him as if it were still angry.

Lian Li also noticed the interaction between Yun Huizhou and Ice Treader. He was just about to ask how Yun Huizhou had offended the horse when he suddenly saw more things being scattered from the front of Hehui Tower.

He focused his eyes.

“Holy crap! It’s silver pieces! They’re so damn rich!”

With his exclamation, Yun Huizhou saw the man immediately leap off the horse and sprint toward the base of Hehui Tower.

To be honest, this was the first time he had seen Lian Li run so fast.

As Lian Li ran, he didn’t forget to look back and shout to Yun Huizhou, “Come on! A lot of people just left, hurry and grab a spot!”

Yun Huizhou thought for a split second before decisively dismounting and running toward Lian Li.

Seeing both of them run off, Ice Treader hurriedly led the other horse to follow them.

By the time those who had dispersed returned, this wave of silver pieces had already been finished.

Many people slapped their thighs in regret. Although they were just silver pieces, each one was worth about a tael.

Picking up a few would be equivalent to several months’ wages.

Just as they were immersed in their regret, sheets of paper began to drift down from the sky. The paper fell much slower than the copper coins and silver pieces.

If Yun Huizhou hadn’t reminded him, Lian Li wouldn’t have noticed. He looked up and—holy crap! Silver notes! The smallest denomination here was ten taels.

If he could just grab one, it would be the equivalent of picking up ten taels of silver for free.

What kind of Young Master Jiang or Young Master Ma were these? They were freaking Gods of Wealth!

Lian Li’s position was excellent, and Yun Huizhou was protecting him from the side.

While others were still dazed, he decisively caught two silver notes drifting from the sky. Then, he joyfully pulled Yun Huizhou and whispered, “Let’s go, hurry, let’s get out of here.”

Yun Huizhou looked at him with some confusion. Their current position was good, and they had seized the initiative. Even without using martial arts, they could have gotten at least five notes.

Why was this person so enthusiastic when he came to pick up money, yet now that they could get much more, he was giving up?

He looked up at the silver notes still drifting down and asked Lian Li, “Aren’t you going to continue? If you want, we can get several more.”

Lian Li stuffed the two silver notes he had caught into his robe and pulled Yun Huizhou toward the exit. “The denominations of silver notes aren’t small, so they probably won’t scatter too many. Catching two is enough. If we take too many, we’ll likely be targeted. With so many people here, a single punch from each of them could beat us to death.”

Yun Huizhou said, “Even if they try to mob us, with our Lightness Skill, we can still escape. Are you sure you don’t want to catch a few more?”

Lian Li pointed at the two horses struggling to move behind them and asked, “The two of us can escape with Lightness Skill, but what about them? We can’t just leave them here; they’re much more important than these silver notes. Unless the two of us are going to carry them and run? Let’s get this straight—I can’t carry them, you’ll have to do it.”

Yun Huizhou’s mouth twitched slightly. He knew Lian Li had a point, but the way he said it made one want to hit him.

Seeing his expression, Lian Li grinned and continued, “Besides, we aren’t short on money. I just came to join the fun and get a bit of a laugh. There’s no need to fight others for this money.”

The two of them walked against the flow of the crowd, moving very slowly.

However, since others saw they were heading out rather than squeezing in, there wasn’t much of a reaction. If they had been pushing inward, they likely would have been shoved around by many people.

As Lian Li expected, because the silver notes were of high value, they were the fewest in number.

After the two left the crowd, they walked to a deserted area.

Lian Li took the silver notes he had just caught out of his robe. Just as he was about to say that their expenses in Linjiu City would come from this, his eyes suddenly widened as he looked at the notes.

“Holy crap! There’s a fifty-tael note here!” Lian Li exclaimed in amazement. “Are the people of Linjiu City really this rich? They even scatter fifty-tael silver notes like this.”

Hearing this, Yun Huizhou leaned in to look. When he saw it really was a fifty-tael note, he was also shocked.

Just as he was about to say something, he heard Lian Li speak again. “Wait, no, this fifty-tael note is my own. I got them mixed up just now.”

As he spoke, he pulled another ten-tael note from his robe and said, “This is the one I actually caught.”

Yun Huizhou pursed his lips and said, “I really feel like you’re teasing me.”

Lian Li laughed loudly, saying, “No, no, how would I dare tease you?”

Seeing the mischievous glint in his smile, Yun Huizhou knew the man had indeed been teasing him earlier.

Seeing him smile so brightly, Yun Huizhou raised his hand. With his fingers against Lian Li’s face, he pinched Lian Li’s cheek with lightning speed.

He didn’t use much force, and Lian Li didn’t feel any pain. However, Lian Li couldn’t see that even with such a gentle pinch, a red mark had appeared on the soft flesh of his face.

Yun Huizhou took a glance and withdrew his hand, thinking to himself that this person’s skin was far too delicate.

The two of them found a random inn. The moment he learned the price, the smile nearly vanished from Lian Li’s face.

The cost of living in Linjiu City was simply too high.

In other cities, staying at the best inn would cost about a hundred wen a day. Even for the absolute best room, it would only be between a hundred and twenty to a hundred and fifty wen, and that usually included three simple meals.
