Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 124: Hidden Hand

At the same time, he crouched down to support Yun Huizhou, letting the other man lean against him to prevent any exertion from causing him pain.

Yun Huizhou did not remove the bath towel. Instead, following Lian Li’s movements, he leaned halfway against him.

Unfortunately, his physique was a size larger than Lian Li’s. While it was described as leaning halfway, it looked more like his entire weight was pressing down on Lian Li.

Lian Li gave him a nudge, wanting to push him a bit further away, but he was afraid of knocking him over and could only endure it.

He adjusted his posture, then raised his hand to gently rub Yun Huizhou’s head through the towel, helping him dry his long hair.

Yun Huizhou took the opportunity to lower his head and drop his gaze, letting him rub away. Occasionally, through the gaps in the shifting towel, Yun Huizhou’s face would be visible. Lian Li discovered that he actually looked quite rare and well-behaved; paired with a face pale from injury, it was actually somewhat heart-wrenching.

As Lian Li dried his hair, he thought to himself:

You are truly finished. This person was intentionally provoking you just now, yet you actually think he’s well-behaved and heart-wrenching.

Pitying a man is the beginning of misfortune!

At the thought of this sentence, Lian Li felt even more miserable.

Just as Lian Li could see Yun Huizhou’s face through the gaps in the towel, Yun Huizhou could naturally see his expression as well.

He noticed that Lian Li had been very strange ever since he woke up for the second time. Especially when he went over there to get the clothes, his entire mood seemed off.

He had gone from being a bit flustered at the start to being somewhat dejected, then for a moment he was a little irritable, and now he seemed filled with sorrow and despair.

Yun Huizhou thought to himself: I only took a palm strike from the Great Elder of the Spirit Cult. It barely counts as a serious injury. Although it brought a bit of trouble, I shouldn’t be dying, right?

Why does this kid look like I don’t have much longer to live?

Could it be that when Junior Uncle examined him earlier, he discovered some fatal hidden hand that he hadn’t noticed himself, concluding that he didn’t have long to live?

Yun Huizhou’s tongue flicked against his sharp canine tooth. He wasn’t even dead yet, and this kid was already this sorrowful and desperate. If the day truly came when he died, this kid would probably cry himself to death.

But to be honest, having known this kid for so long, although he looked delicate and fragile, he had never actually seen him cry.

At the thought that if he died, this kid would definitely be weeping uncontrollably, he actually felt a bit of excitement.

Unfortunately, he wouldn’t be able to see it then. Thinking of this, Yun Huizhou felt it was meaningless again. Since he wouldn’t be able to see it, the kid better not cry.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to rest in peace even in death.

Yun Huizhou suddenly reached up and pinched Lian Li’s chin. Startled, Lian Li instinctively tried to pull back.

But Yun Huizhou held on tight. Especially upon realizing he wanted to dodge, he immediately increased his strength.

Lian Li felt that if he dodged any further and Yun Huizhou added more force, his chin would be crushed.

If his chin was crushed, no matter how good-looking he originally was, his face would become deformed. Wouldn’t that make his already hopeless love even more desperate?

Thus, he stopped his struggling and lowered his eyes to look at his own hands, refusing to meet Yun Huizhou’s gaze.

Yun Huizhou’s thumb brushed against Lian Li’s chin, making Lian Li instinctively flinch, yet he forcibly suppressed the urge to hide.

“I say, why have you looked like you’re about to cry since just now?” Yun Huizhou said. “I’m not dead yet, but it feels like a funeral procession is about to start. Even if I really am going to die, please at least pretend to smile in front of my mourning hall, alright?”

Lian Li grabbed his hand and looked up at him. “What’s all this talk about dying? Are you sick in the head? You keep saying ‘die, die, die.’ Do you want to die that badly?”

Yun Huizhou tilted his head in confusion. “But that expression of yours just now really looked like you were ready to send me off at any moment. Am I not about to die?”

Lian Li was fuming. “Who said you’re going to die?! Look at how much energy you have to annoy people—does that look like someone who’s about to die? Huh? If you have the strength to annoy me, why don’t you save it to put on your own clothes!”

Lian Li slapped his hand away, walked to the side to grab the other robe, and once again threw it over Yun Huizhou’s head.

“Put it on yourself!”

“Alright…” Yun Huizhou breathed a sigh of relief. “So I’m not dying. Seeing you so sad, I thought my life was coming to an end. You nearly scared me to death.”

Lian Li was so angry he wanted to kick him twice to make him shut up, so he wouldn’t have to hear a single word he didn’t like.

But he couldn’t kick him now. He could only stomp out of the bathroom in a rage.

Seeing him leave, Yun Huizhou dropped his frivolous act and took the robe off his head.

He had just draped the robe on, tied the sash, and was about to stand up to pull off the soaking wet bath towel wrapped around his waist when he saw Lian Li walking back in huffily.

Yun Huizhou stopped his movements and looked at him.

Lian Li didn’t even notice that Yun Huizhou had already briskly dressed himself and was prepared to stand up and walk out on his own. He walked to Yun Huizhou’s side, bent down to support the man’s arm, and helped him up.

Yun Huizhou: “…”

He wanted to say that although it hurt every time he moved right now, he wasn’t so weak that he needed someone to support him for every step.

But seeing Lian Li’s darkened face, he tactfully shut his mouth.

If he made the kid angry again and he just washed his hands of him, that would be one thing; but if he gave him a hard shove, he really wouldn’t be able to stay standing.

When Lian Li supported Yun Huizhou out of the bathroom, the West Island Lord had just seen off Zhao Honglan and Qu Tingquan. At this moment, he was sitting by the table drinking tea.

Seeing Yun Huizhou being supported by Lian Li with such a weak appearance, he curled his lip imperceptibly.

Once Yun Huizhou was seated on the prayer mat in front of him, he pointed at the door and said to Lian Li, “You, get out. Go to the courtyard next door; that’s your room.”

“Huh?” Lian Li let out a confused sound.

West Island Lord: “What? Do you think this is an outpatient clinic where you need family members to accompany you? When I tell you to get out, get out. I’ll call you in when I need you.”

Lian Li didn’t dare talk back to the West Island Lord. He let go of Yun Huizhou and scurried out, closing the door behind him.

After hearing the sound of Lian Li’s footsteps fading into the distance, Yun Huizhou sat up straight, no longer looking like he might collapse at any moment.

Seeing him like this, the West Island Lord remarked mockingly, “You’re only good for fooling that silly Junior Brother of yours.”

Yun Huizhou shrugged and said nothing.

He indeed wasn’t weak to the point of needing support, but seeing Lian Li’s look of thinking he was about to die at any moment, he couldn’t help but want to tease him, lest he keep wearing that expression of being heartbroken to death.

However, he also felt that his condition was indeed not very good.

Seeing that he didn’t reply, the West Island Lord stopped rambling. He spoke up: “Your situation is a bit troublesome. That palm strike you took—that old fogey took the opportunity to plant a Gu insect inside. It’s in your meridians now. You should have felt it by now, right?”

The novel's supporting male character happened to be the great hero who had saved his puny life. All he knew was that this supporting character's martial arts skills would eventually deteriorate. To ensure the "golden thigh" he was clinging to grew even stronger, Lian Li began analyzing the reasons behind the stagnation of his protector's martial arts. After beating around the bush, he concluded that the big shot must have been plotted against while fighting for the hand of the "Number One Beauty Under Heaven." Not a big problem. He just needed to desensitize the golden thigh, seal his heart in cement, and make him focus solely on the Martial Dao! But who would have guessed that while he was busy clinging, the golden thigh's gaze started to look a bit off? It seemed he might have clung to the wrong... leg? Yun Huizhou hoisted Lian Li onto his shoulder and headed straight for a deserted area. After a long while, Lian Li looked completely bewildered. Wait... didn't you want to marry the Number One Beauty Under Heaven? What are you doing right now? Did you really fall for a femboy!? Just where did things go wrong? Much later, Lian Li realized that when Yun Huizhou said he wanted to marry the Number One Beauty Under Heaven, he wasn't technically wrong. Pfft! It's actually getting married TO the Number One Beauty Under Heaven! *** PS: Neither of them has a clue; they both keep thinking it's just pure brotherly affection between martial brothers.
