Xiang Xian transformed into a blazing meteor in midair and shot forth. The giant serpent’s eyes blazed with purple light. It raised its head and thrashed wildly in the air, gathering green poisonous flames in its mouth. Clutching Xiao Kun, it prepared to blast him with toxic fire toward Xiang Xian.
“Let him go!” Xiang Xian gripped the Wisdom Sword and charged at the serpent’s head.
“It’s stuck!” Xiao Kun roared.
His body burned under the poisonous fire, bursting with indigo blood. In the instant the blood sprayed, Ghost Fire blazed fiercely. The giant serpent snapped its jaws wide, feeling the searing pain.
Xiang Xian let out an angry roar. Xiao Kun finally struggled free, but the giant serpent was upon them in a flash.
“What Demon Beast is this?!” Xiang Xian and Xiao Kun dodged frantically as the giant serpent pursued them. Seeking a foothold, they found the wide river lacking stones. Fortunately, under Chaosheng’s Magic Treasure, jagged stone pillars protruded one after another from the riverbed, giving them places to land.
The serpent’s body stretched over a hundred zhang, yet it was extremely agile and flexible in the water.
“Ba She,” Xiao Kun said grimly. “Get out of the way! Don’t block my blade path!”
Xiao Kun sidestepped, gripped his blade, and slashed. The Ba She’s tail whipped out suddenly, sweeping through several protruding stone peaks before striking Xiang Xian into the depths. Xiao Kun rushed to save him. The icy waters churned violently, and all sounds vanished.
Once in the water, it was Ba She’s domain. In the murky currents, Xiao Kun dragged his Dual Knives backward and charged toward the golden light emanating from Xiang Xian at the bottom.
Xiang Xian kicked desperately toward the surface and saw Xiao Kun rushing at him. They met in the water. Xiao Kun grabbed Xiang Xian’s wrist and kicked hard with both legs. The Tang Dao whipped up a vortex, propelling them toward the surface.
But Ba She charged from the side, biting Xiao Kun once more. It spun rapidly underwater, the massive force separating them and hurling them downstream.
Ba She’s fangs pierced Xiao Kun’s shoulder and back. He spat a string of bubbles as Ba She burst from the river again, carrying him into the sky.
This time, with a diving snap, Ba She would tear him to shreds. Xiao Kun thrust a knife single-handed into its upper palate. Ba She writhed in injury.
The next moment, Xiang Xian, who had grabbed its tail and been pulled from the water, drew the Wisdom Sword.
A streak of golden light spread along the river surface, racing suddenly toward the eastern and western canyon walls like uncontrollable streams erupting in the earth’s crevices. Xiang Xian was enveloped in golden light, transforming into a blazing sun plummeting toward the river!
Ba She faced the intense light from the Wisdom Sword and roared in terror, jaws gaping to the limit.
Xiang Xian held the Wisdom Sword, flames burning around him. Countless glowing Talismanic Runes scattered from the Heaven-Earth Veins and were absorbed into the sword.
Golden fire climbed, sweeping over his body. Radiant light armor flickered from his left shoulder to chest. His lower body was covered in scaled battle skirts, his feet in golden boots. From neck to waist on his bare shoulders and back, Demon-Subduing Golden Talismans emerged.
He hovered high in the air, long hair flowing before bundling into short, rising flames. His left hand formed a sword gesture at his chest, right hand slanting the Wisdom Sword toward the earth.
Immovable Wisdom King Descent!
In that moment facing the Martial God, Xiao Kun felt as if he were being incinerated. Fear surged uncontrollably in his heart, urging him to flee.
The Xiang Xian possessed by the Immovable Wisdom King shot toward Ba She. Ba She still had the courage to fight, roaring and twisting to evade the fatal strike. The sword light swept the river, collapsing dozens of li of water and raising massive waves.
But Xiang Xian was faster than Ba She. He looped back from an impossible angle, thrusting the sword at its lower jaw. Ba She turned its head, carrying Xiang Xian crashing into the riverbed. Golden light erupted again underwater, blasting Ba She skyward.
Golden light flashed once more, propelling Ba She toward a hundred-zhang cliff face and nailing it to the wall!
The gathered Demonic Qi took humanoid form. As Xiang Xian pinned the mountain-weight Ba She to the cliff, a dark Demon Person emerged from its mouth.
“Long time no see.” It was a man’s voice.
As he spoke, he gripped the Wisdom Sword with one hand. Black Qi coiled around the blade, surging toward Xiang Xian and enveloping him heavily. Xiang Xian’s eyes widened in the Descent state, roaring in fury.
Golden light exploded from the Wisdom Sword, dispelling the Demonic Qi. Ba She spewed endless green poison from its throat. Xiang Xian withdrew sharply.
Ba She plummeted into the river, surging massive waves.
Xiang Xian hovered in the air. Xiao Kun stood on a reef in the river’s center, looking up at him.
He noticed Xiao Kun, advancing slowly with the Wisdom Sword, eyes blazing golden fire as if assessing the demon power on him.
Xiao Kun stared intently at Xiang Xian.
“It’s me, Xiao Kun,” Xiao Kun said. “Xiang Xian? Can you hear me?”
Flames burned in Xiang Xian’s pupils. His golden-red eyes met Xiao Kun’s azure blue ones, as if recalling.
Xiang Xian’s eyes regained human clarity and recognized Xiao Kun before him.
The immense power of the Wisdom Sword receded. Xiang Xian faltered and fell toward the river. Xiao Kun leaped through the air, catching him mid-descent while grabbing the Divine Sword with his other hand. Exhausted, the two plunged together into the icy river water.
