Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 6 Part 2

Below, the nest was laid with luxurious furs and colorful treasure jewels. A person lay sprawled across it.

The figure was shrouded in black-purple divine light, his features obscured.

He wore an ink-green long robe embroidered with subtle patterns. His black hair cascaded like a waterfall, framed by the gleaming gems, yet it evoked the cold, profound depth of a black hole.

But the sleeve draping before him had been folded into a soft cushion, upon which a fluffy ball curled.

Hearing the noise, the fluffy ball poked out a bird head.

The chick was only the size of a palm, pitch-black all over, with a punkish tuft of fur sprouting from its head.

The tuft mixed gray, white, and black. Though small, the chick’s crimson eyes carried a terrifying aura of intimidation the instant it looked over.

Upon seeing Lin Yu, the chick narrowed its eyes. It immediately spread its chicken-wing-like little wings and charged like a Ground Chicken.

Lin Yu raised his hand to block it.

But though the Ground Chicken appeared feeble, its impact was ferocious. Its sharp beak punctured a bloody hole straight through Lin Yu’s hand.

Lin Yu hissed in pain and flung the chick away with force.

He said irritably, “Pei Jiye, what the hell is wrong with you?”

The Ground Chicken ignored Lin Yu. The edges of its chicken-wing-like fleshy wings bore tiny claws.

It hooked onto Lin Yu’s sleeve robe and deftly snatched the jade bottle from his hand.

With a bold swipe of its claw, the Ground Chicken knocked off the bottle stopper and tossed the bottle into the air.

The bottle flipped midair, and the golden pill dropped perfectly into the gaping maw below.

The Ground Chicken swallowed the golden pill.

The next second, the Ground Chicken spat out human speech: “Lin Yu, I’m gonna kill you!!”

Lin Yu was baffled. “Are you insane? I worked my ass off refining this Bone Transformation Pill for you so you could speak human language in your fledgling stage, and you wanna kill me?”

The Ground Chicken: “You trying to poison me to death? This pill is even more goddamn bitter than a three-thousand-year-old mature coptis from the immortal sects!!”

“…Oh, I had someone test it, but you’re a bird. Sorry, I forgot humans and demons differ, and so do taste buds…”

Lin Yu felt instantly guilty. He coughed repeatedly. “Alright, that’s not important. Us Demonic Cultivators’ pills are all like this, right? The effect is definitely fine; it’s just the side effects are a bit strong.”

The Ground Chicken—or rather, the Silent Night Demon Lord revered as Palace Lord of Silent Night Palace—said coldly and ruthlessly, “If it’s this bitter next time, I’ll smash your precious pill furnace.”

Lin Yu: “You’re crazy. Without a pill furnace, how am I supposed to refine pills for you?”

Pei Jiye: “I don’t care. I want a non-bitter Bone Transformation Pill!”

Lin Yu was exasperated. “Fine, wait for it.”

He waved his hand with a sweeping momentum and said aggressively, “Whether it’s bitter or not is trivial. Now you can finally speak human words without pretending to be dead. So, spill it?”

“How did you end up in this state? Don’t tell me it was Feng Ruyue. His title as Ruyue Venerable sounds impressive, but we all know he’s just a pushover who throws himself at beautiful people.”

Pei Jiye lowered his head and preened the few sparse, messy feathers that had just grown in with his beak.

Lin Yu jumped in fury. “Don’t play dumb! Say something in human words!”

“Help me find someone.”

The Ground Chicken tilted its head, the messy tuft on its head shaking.

“No idea about their appearance, age, condition, gender, or even if they’re human. But they’re still alive. They must still be alive.”

The golden glow from above cast shards of light, falling on the tiny bird and magnifying its shadow without reason.

The pitch-black shadow seemed to come alive on its own, trembling, struggling, twisting, and emitting faint roars.

“I’m alive, so how could they die? How dare they die?”

Pei Jiye’s voice sounded like cracking ice from an abyss—fragile yet laced with deep obsession.

Lin Yu felt a chill and instinctively shifted sideways, his hand hidden in his sleeve forming an escape spell ready to flee at any moment.

Though the Silent Night Demon Lord had met with an accident and turned into a Demonic Bird Chick, he still possessed savage lethality. When he went berserk, demons really died!

After about a quarter of an hour, the terrifying aura around the Ground Chicken eased slightly.

Lin Yu relaxed a bit and spoke. “…Listen to what you just said. Is that something a person would say? You gave zero information. How am I supposed to help you find them?”

Pei Jiye declared righteously, “I’m not a person right now. I’m a bird.”

Lin Yu sneered. “Since you’re a bird, why speak human words?”

The next instant, the Ground Chicken opened its mouth again—and out came chirping noises!

Chirp? The punkish Ground Chicken’s face showed a hilariously shocked expression.

Lin Yu flicked his sleeve and vanished, leaving only a faint echo.

“I told you the Demonic Core has side effects. Besides being super bitter, the duration is a bit short…”

“Chirp chirp chirp—!!!”

The Ground Chicken let out a shrill, desperate screech. A bit short? Lin Yu, you bastard!!

You in the Mortal World

Status: Completed Native Language: Chinese

After failing his Tribulation Transcendence, Xie Linlang inexplicably entered the Portable Jade Pendant carried by a Menial Disciple, becoming the trendy "portable golden finger grandpa."

Xie Linlang had originally planned to slack off, but he discovered that this disciple bore an extremely similar face to his Dao Companion Pei Ji, who had passed away over a hundred years prior.

*

"Could it be his reincarnation?"

Xie Linlang thought so. Thus, he bucked up and earnestly guided the disciple in his cultivation.

*

—Until Silent Night Palace suffered a great calamity. Before countless disciples, the Jiye Palace Lord cleaved the sea open with a single sword and stood in mid-air.

—Then, he arrived before Xie Linlang.

Pei Jiye, the Silent Night Demon Lord—whose reputation in the Demon Domain was the worst, with ruthless methods that could hush a crying child at night—had blood-red eyes. His hoarse voice carried a chilling undertone as he asked in a soft, delicate tone, "Who were you smiling at just now?"

Xie Linlang fell silent for a dozen seconds, his own eyes reddening.

"You clearly didn't die. Why did you hide from me for a century?"

The Demon Lord, who had been radiating killing intent and arrogance just moments before, immediately shrank back.

"This... there are reasons for it..."

*

Wonderful. You're still alive.

Ascending to immortality cannot compare to you in the mortal world.

**Disclaimers:**

1. This is my dog-blood style. I wanted to write some fun, brainless, self-indulgent stuff. Please don't nitpick logic or details—everything serves the plot.

2. The story background is traditional immortal hero progression. The protagonist Xiao Xie acts faster with his hands than his mouth, so some behaviors seem crazy. He has his own logic. Don't apply real-world thinking to the characters' ideas or plot. It's just for fun—take it or leave it.

3. The demonic cultivator disciple that the male lead Xie Linlang takes in is Pei Jiye's nephew, so they look similar. There will be body-double jealousy plots and all sorts of brainless misunderstandings. Mind readers, beware.

4. Hands-faster-than-mouth shou × equally fast-handed-and-mouthed, brain-broken gong. My style of romance—gong and shou are equals. They both have flaws, but they complement each other to become perfect and flawless.

5. Xie Linlang starts as a jade pendant and will soon reshape his immortal body.
