Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 12 Part 2

He instructed Shen He, “The pills in this Yellow Jade Gourd are the Nine Revolutions Return to Truth Pills I need to reconstruct my body. But reconstructing my true form requires vast amounts of demonic qi. You can’t do this work in your sect. You must find a place with abundant demonic qi that’s hidden and safe. That’s your next task.”

“While cultivating the methods and demonic treasures Lin Yu gave you, go to Silent Night Palace’s Scripture Pavilion and search for relevant information. The sooner, the better.”

Xie Linlang added, “In the meantime, don’t open the Yellow Jade Gourd again. I barely managed to find a material in Lin Yu’s Storage Bag that can preserve the Nine Revolutions Return to Truth Pills. Opening it frequently will cause some of the medicinal properties to dissipate.”

Shen He drew in a sharp breath.

Heavens, his Jade Pendant Master’s efficiency was terrifying!

Had it only been two months since he awakened this senior? The Portable Grandpa had already handled all the constraints for reconstructing his true body! This was nothing like the old grandpas described by the Martial Uncles in the sect’s major lectures!!

Shen He first agreed wholeheartedly to Xie Linlang’s requests, then voiced some concern.

“…You used Senior Lin Yu’s materials. Won’t he notice something’s missing later?”

Xie Linlang seemed to chuckle. “Every material for the Nine Revolutions Return to Truth Pill can serve as the main ingredient in other pill formulas. With various combinations, Lin Yu won’t possibly detect that a set of materials for Nine Revolutions Return to Truth Pills is missing.”

At this point, Xie Linlang’s tone grew indifferent again.

“I’ve paid the price too. I taught him several improved pill formulas and the method to refine the Bone Transformation Pill he urgently needed. That’s enough to settle the karma.”

He was a good person, after all. Xie Linlang, known as the upright and bright Linlang Dao Lord, had persisted for over a hundred years for Pei Ji’s sake.

He would continue to persist.

“Alright, for the next period, I’ll nurture my remnant soul in the Nine Revolutions Return to Truth Pills and won’t probe the outside world. Hurry and refine these demonic treasures, then go borrow books from the Scripture Pavilion.”

“Yes!”

Meanwhile, Lin Yu finally brushed off the other sect alchemists. Using the excuse of stabilizing his state, he resealed the Pill Room.

As soon as he returned to the pill furnace, Lin Yu saw a gaudy Ground Chicken flapping its fleshy wings and pecking at the medicine bottles near the furnace with its beak.

Lin Yu sighed and took out a bottle from his sleeve.

“Try this one. Its effects should last longer.”

The Ground Chicken shot straight up from the ground, flapping over to Lin Yu’s wrist in a flash. It kicked open the bottle stopper with one claw, stuck its head in, and swallowed the pill inside.

“Huh, you really broke through.”

As soon as the pill entered his mouth, Pei Jiye realized that its quality was on a completely different level from what Lin Yu had refined before.

Every ingredient had fused perfectly, bringing out all their properties to the fullest. Pei Jiye even felt the rock-hard demonic qi in his body loosen slightly, like a crack finally appearing in millennia-old profound ice.

Lin Yu looked somewhat smug. “Of course. And luckily, you didn’t nag in my ear during this time.”

Pei Jiye ignored Lin Yu’s veiled disdain and mused, “You said earlier that those pill refining insights came from your newly accepted good-for-nothing disciple?”

“That’s right. Shen He has decent talent in pill refining, and his heirloom contained pill refining insights. His bloodline ancestors must have included a top-tier Pill King master. I plan to focus on nurturing him.”

Lin Yu was full of ambition. “But before that, I need to help you find the Four Seasons Starflower. If all goes well, you won’t need to pop Bone Transformation Pills every day.”

Pei Jiye’s focus wasn’t on the Four Seasons Starflower; he took an interest in Shen He.

“Does Shen He really have good pill refining talent?”

Lin Yu feigned displeasure. “Fancying the newbie? No matter his talent, he’s just a Foundation Establishment Stage disciple!”

“You were only at Foundation Establishment Stage back then too.” Pei Jiye said noncommittally, indifferently, “If not for your pill refining skills, why would I have brought you out back then?”

In the eighty-first year of Pei Jiye’s entrapment in the Ancient Graveyard, he picked up Lin Yu, who was on his last breath.

Seeing that Lin Yu’s pill refining figure somewhat resembled Xie Linlang, Pei Jiye took him along when he escaped.

This was Lin Yu’s sliver of hope for survival.

It was also Pei Jiye’s opportunity to finally break through the Time River Restriction and return to the human world.

The last time he met Xie Linlang was right before their upcoming Dao Companion Bonding Ceremony.

He promised to return soon, but from then on, it turned into an eternal farewell.

Lin Yu beamed. “You said it yourself.”

Pei Jiye: ?

Thus, three days later, Lin Yu summoned Shen He and solemnly handed him a gaudy Ground Chicken perched on a Crimson Branch Stand.

“This is a spirit beast raised by the sect. You can call him… uh, Night Senior.”

Lin Yu said with dead seriousness, “He’s troublesome, has a restless temperament, and loves to fly around wildly. Make sure you don’t hurt him. Take good care of him, got it?”

After failing his Tribulation Transcendence, Xie Linlang inexplicably entered the Portable Jade Pendant carried by a Menial Disciple, becoming the trendy "portable golden finger grandpa."

Xie Linlang had originally planned to slack off, but he discovered that this disciple bore an extremely similar face to his Dao Companion Pei Ji, who had passed away over a hundred years prior.

*

"Could it be his reincarnation?"

Xie Linlang thought so. Thus, he bucked up and earnestly guided the disciple in his cultivation.

*

—Until Silent Night Palace suffered a great calamity. Before countless disciples, the Jiye Palace Lord cleaved the sea open with a single sword and stood in mid-air.

—Then, he arrived before Xie Linlang.

Pei Jiye, the Silent Night Demon Lord—whose reputation in the Demon Domain was the worst, with ruthless methods that could hush a crying child at night—had blood-red eyes. His hoarse voice carried a chilling undertone as he asked in a soft, delicate tone, "Who were you smiling at just now?"

Xie Linlang fell silent for a dozen seconds, his own eyes reddening.

"You clearly didn't die. Why did you hide from me for a century?"

The Demon Lord, who had been radiating killing intent and arrogance just moments before, immediately shrank back.

"This... there are reasons for it..."

Wonderful. You're still alive.

Ascending to immortality cannot compare to you in the mortal world.

**Disclaimers:**

1. This is my dog-blood style. I wanted to write some fun, brainless, self-indulgent stuff. Please don't nitpick logic or details—everything serves the plot.

2. The story background is traditional immortal hero progression. The protagonist Xiao Xie acts faster with his hands than his mouth, so some behaviors seem crazy. He has his own logic. Don't apply real-world thinking to the characters' ideas or plot. It's just for fun—take it or leave it.

3. The demonic cultivator disciple that the male lead Xie Linlang takes in is Pei Jiye's nephew, so they look similar. There will be body-double jealousy plots and all sorts of brainless misunderstandings. Mind readers, beware.

4. Hands-faster-than-mouth shou × equally fast-handed-and-mouthed, brain-broken gong. My style of romance—gong and shou are equals. They both have flaws, but they complement each other to become perfect and flawless.

5. Xie Linlang starts as a jade pendant and will soon reshape his immortal body.
