Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 16 Part 2

“You want to break through the human lifespan limit, become an immortal who lives as long as heaven and earth, and still expect the heavens not to trip you up? What pipe dream are you having?”

Shen He fell silent for a few seconds before carefully asking, “Shizun, you spoke very mildly before. How did you suddenly become a bit…”

“A bit sharp-tongued? You’re perceptive. That’s normal. I’m currently fusing my divine soul with the Nine Revolutions Return to Truth Pill. After that, you’ll need to find a place rich in demonic qi, set up a demonic qi-gathering formation as I taught you, and throw in the Nine Revolutions Return to Truth Pill. After a certain time, I’ll be able to reconstruct my body.”

Xie Linlang sighed lightly. “During this period, my divine soul will irreversibly transform toward a demonic cultivator’s, converting true spirit qi into a demonic cultivator’s True Demon Breath. My temperament might change a bit, but I’ll try to control and adjust it.”

Shen He breathed a sigh of relief. If Shizun was just sharp-tongued, that was nothing. He just hoped Shizun wouldn’t turn into one of those Silent Night Palace demonic cultivator seniors—especially not Night Senior. That would truly be a nightmare.

Since Shen He had hidden away in the Spirit Spring Cave Mansion for secluded cultivation, the uproar in the pill room over refining the Demon Clan Snack Pills didn’t reach him.

When he emerged from seclusion, Xie Linlang had already fully prepared everything needed to reconstruct his true body.

During this time, Shen He had perused various scrolls borrowed from the sect and selected about three targets.

One was a plateau sea called Shi Cha Qing Hai. It was said that demonic qi magma often erupted into the sky from its waters. Though very dangerous, with even great demons lurking there, the demonic qi was absolutely abundant, with extremely high density and purity—perfect for helping Xie Linlang reconstruct his body.

Another was the Purple Radiance Mountain Small Secret Realm, which had only appeared in the last thirty years and opened every three or four years. It seemed to be a spirit garden from some ancient destroyed sect for raising spirit beasts. Low-level cultivators occasionally found dead demon beast eggs or remnant corpses there.

The last place was deep in the ocean a thousand li south of Silent Night Palace, where special islands periodically emerged, randomly generating natural demonic springs. Collecting even one spring eye allowed long-term soaking or consumption, which was extremely beneficial for demonic cultivators.

Shen He discussed it with Xie Linlang and ultimately chose the Purple Radiance Mountain Small Secret Realm.

Shi Cha Qing Hai was great, but the great demons there were at least Nascent Soul Stage. Shen He going there would be delivering himself as food. The deep-sea islands with demonic springs were too random and luck-dependent. Neither Shen He nor Xie Linlang thought they were lucky people, so the reliably appearing Purple Radiance Mountain Secret Realm was safer.

“While you’re at it, help me exchange for some things.”

Xie Linlang knew Shen He had traded the pill formula for a lot of resources and Class Hours Points. “After I resurrect, I’ll have no cultivation and will immediately draw in demonic qi to cultivate. At the very least, I need to become a Qi Refining cultivator, or I won’t be able to leave the Purple Radiance Mountain Secret Realm.”

So, cultivation pills, protective artifacts, and the like needed to be prepared in advance.

Shen He nodded repeatedly. “No problem. With Shizun’s abilities, you’ll surely advance from Qi Refining to Foundation Establishment quickly. How about you use my old Qi Refining stuff for now, and I directly exchange for Foundation Establishment resources for you?”

Even a fake like him had entered Foundation Establishment in just a month. Not to mention Shizun rebuilding from scratch.

Xie Linlang seemed to smile. His tone softened considerably. “You’re quite thoughtful. Very well. Exchange a spirit sword for Foundation Establishment use for me, and grab any protective artifact.”

“Eh, isn’t Shizun a pill cultivator? I thought you’d want a good pill furnace.”

Shen He thought of Xie Linlang’s earlier words and grinned. “Like Master Lin’s Supreme Magic Furnace?”

Xie Linlang drawled, “How did you know I placed a mark on that magic furnace?”

Shen He: “……”

Xie Linlang burst into laughter, his voice carrying a hint of smugness and nostalgia.

“My senior brother was a sword cultivator. Later, I too was often accompanied by a sword. My swordsmanship may not reach One Sword Breaks Ten Thousand Laws, but it’s more than enough for the low-level cultivators in the Purple Radiance Mountain Secret Realm.”

Shen He noticed Xie Linlang mentioning his own past and felt a bit happy. It seemed the jade pendant Shizun had opened up some. He felt like he understood this Shizun even better now.

Shen He asked eagerly, “Then can I learn swordsmanship from Shizun later? I have the Emerald Jade Sword, but my sword arts are terrible.”

Pill refining made money, but as a demonic cultivator, fights were inevitable. He needed to stay alive first before worrying about earning.

“There’s too much for you to learn. Focusing on pill refining means it’s normal to have gaps elsewhere. Don’t rush…”

Xie Linlang wanted to admonish Shen He that cultivation couldn’t be rushed, but the words caught in his throat.

Scenes from the past floated in his mind.

Cultivators lived by the century. He had once always felt time stretched endlessly, with plenty of tomorrows.

But if he slacked now, there would be no tomorrow.

In the end, what Xie Linlang said became: “If you really want to improve your swordsmanship, it requires dedicated study. It’ll be tiring. Can you persist?”

Shen He said firmly, “I can!”

If he didn’t work hard now, what would he do if he got beaten again?

Night Senior at least spared his life. Other cultivators outside wouldn’t show mercy.

“This disciple doesn’t dare claim immortality, but since I’m alive and have stepped onto the path of cultivation, I must struggle for it and achieve my wishes, right?”

Xie Linlang was stunned upon hearing this.

Yes, in one lifetime, one must achieve their wishes. Otherwise, why was he still alive?

“You’re right.” He said word by word, “I want to achieve my wishes.”

After failing his Tribulation Transcendence, Xie Linlang inexplicably entered the Portable Jade Pendant carried by a Menial Disciple, becoming the trendy "portable golden finger grandpa."

Xie Linlang had originally planned to slack off, but he discovered that this disciple bore an extremely similar face to his Dao Companion Pei Ji, who had passed away over a hundred years prior.

*

"Could it be his reincarnation?"

Xie Linlang thought so. Thus, he bucked up and earnestly guided the disciple in his cultivation.

*

—Until Silent Night Palace suffered a great calamity. Before countless disciples, the Jiye Palace Lord cleaved the sea open with a single sword and stood in mid-air.

—Then, he arrived before Xie Linlang.

Pei Jiye, the Silent Night Demon Lord—whose reputation in the Demon Domain was the worst, with ruthless methods that could hush a crying child at night—had blood-red eyes. His hoarse voice carried a chilling undertone as he asked in a soft, delicate tone, "Who were you smiling at just now?"

Xie Linlang fell silent for a dozen seconds, his own eyes reddening.

"You clearly didn't die. Why did you hide from me for a century?"

The Demon Lord, who had been radiating killing intent and arrogance just moments before, immediately shrank back.

"This... there are reasons for it..."

Wonderful. You're still alive.

Ascending to immortality cannot compare to you in the mortal world.

**Disclaimers:**

1. This is my dog-blood style. I wanted to write some fun, brainless, self-indulgent stuff. Please don't nitpick logic or details—everything serves the plot.

2. The story background is traditional immortal hero progression. The protagonist Xiao Xie acts faster with his hands than his mouth, so some behaviors seem crazy. He has his own logic. Don't apply real-world thinking to the characters' ideas or plot. It's just for fun—take it or leave it.

3. The demonic cultivator disciple that the male lead Xie Linlang takes in is Pei Jiye's nephew, so they look similar. There will be body-double jealousy plots and all sorts of brainless misunderstandings. Mind readers, beware.

4. Hands-faster-than-mouth shou × equally fast-handed-and-mouthed, brain-broken gong. My style of romance—gong and shou are equals. They both have flaws, but they complement each other to become perfect and flawless.

5. Xie Linlang starts as a jade pendant and will soon reshape his immortal body.
