The matter had to start from the Sect Leader Hall on Pingxu Peak.
Lu Yun Ting allowed Xuanjing Zhenren to berate and scold him furiously, standing unmoved like a pine piercing the clouds, his mouth repeating only one sentence: “Yun Ting sincerely seeks to marry Junior Sister Su. I earnestly request the Sect Leader Uncle-Master and all the Elders to grant this.”
Seeing him like this, Xuanjing Zhenren’s anger burned even fiercer, and he seemed about to lay hands on him. Yulan Zhenren hurriedly intervened.
“Ahem, this matter can be discussed later.” With flesh on both sides of his palm, Yulan Zhenren simply employed the tactic of delay, changing the subject. “Right now, there is a more pressing matter that requires your attention.”
Upon receiving an order from the sect, Lu Yun Ting immediately ceased his stubbornness and bowed. “Please give your instructions, Sect Leader Uncle-Master.”
Yulan Zhenren handed him an object—a grayish, dusty stone bead that had only recently been turned over to the sect through Lu Yun Ting’s hands.
“The Buddha Heart Stone?” Lu Yun Ting was mildly surprised. “Does Sect Leader Uncle-Master want me to…”
“Correct.” Yulan Zhenren nodded. “You shall handle the repair of the Passing Immortal Bridge this time.”
The Passing Immortal Bridge was the place with the most abundant spiritual energy in the entire Cultivation World. Cultivating beneath it allowed one’s cultivation to advance by leaps and bounds. However, the cultivators of the Cultivation World feared that such a method of cultivation would eventually exhaust the bridge’s spiritual energy and sever the path to ascension. Thus, the major sects had reached a consensus and established rules: no cultivators were permitted to cultivate at the Passing Immortal Bridge. Du Xian Sect had set up a grand formation to strictly guard it, and no one was allowed to enter without permission.
But rules were rules; with such a feng shui treasure land right at their doorstep, no one dared say whether Du Xian Sect truly refrained from using the Passing Immortal Bridge for cultivation.
“Upon your return from the Fan Tian Secret Realm, your Mid-Stage Golden Core cultivation has reached perfection, showing signs of an impending breakthrough.” Yulan Zhenren’s face was full of affection. “Go to the Passing Immortal Bridge and make a trip of it.”
Lu Yun Ting received the Buddha Heart Stone and solemnly agreed. “This disciple will surely restore the Passing Immortal Bridge to its original state.”
With the task at hand, Lu Yun Ting immediately pushed the matter of seeking marriage to Su Yanran to the back of his mind. He left Pingxu Peak without even catching his breath and headed straight for the Passing Immortal Bridge.
Though called a bridge, the Passing Immortal Bridge did not have flowing water beneath it.
Radiant light filled the sky, descending like rain. A majestic white jade stone bridge coiled across the heavens like the bones of a giant dragon, winding endlessly. On both sides of the immortal bridge, several snow-white cloud waterfalls tore open gashes in the sky, cascading down from the heavens and pouring thunderously into the bridge’s base. At the base, thick clouds roared and surged like rapids, crashing into each other and splashing up a haze of transparent, ice-crystal-like mist that enveloped the bridge.
The glistening stone bridge, the vast cloud waterfalls, the brilliant crystal mists—layers of white in varying shades filled the entire world, reaching up to the azure firmament and down to the yellow springs, vast as the four seas, dazzling as the three luminaries.
There was no sign of human habitation anywhere, no birds or beasts, no plants or trees—everything in sight was white, and all sounds were silent. The Passing Immortal Bridge was the epitome of beauty, the epitome of desolation.
“You can only look from afar like this. Once we get closer, you’ll have to stay obediently in the Spirit Beast Bag.” A helpless voice sounded like a drop of ink splattered on pristine white paper, disturbing this heaven and earth. The surging cloud waterfalls seemed to sense it and roiled even more fiercely.
Lu Yun Ting relied on the Sect Leader’s command token to enter the barrier of the Passing Immortal Bridge but did not immediately proceed to repair it. Instead, he lectured the Silver-White Little Snake on his shoulder.
Xun Ji had just made a fuss for a long time in the Spirit Beast Bag and finally got Lu Yun Ting to release him. Now, upon seeing the true visage of the Passing Immortal Bridge, he became even more insatiable. He slithered from Lu Yun Ting’s shoulder along his neck to the top of his head, coiling his body around Lu Yun Ting’s high ponytail, leisurely admiring the magnificent scene before them.
In this Cultivation World, all hopes and all disasters stemmed from the Passing Immortal Bridge. Since he was here, he naturally had to see it clearly.
“The spiritual power of the Passing Immortal Bridge is too abundant; the dense spiritual aura condenses into a sea of clouds, tangible as substance. Those with low cultivation who gaze upon it for too long risk blindness. Therefore, cultivators below Nascent Soul must cover their eyes when approaching the Passing Immortal Bridge.” Lu Yun Ting plucked him down from his head and patiently explained, “In a moment, I’ll have to blindfold myself and rely solely on spiritual sense to repair the Passing Immortal Bridge. I won’t be able to watch over you, so go obediently into the Spirit Beast Bag, alright?”
Not alright—he hadn’t looked his fill yet. Moreover, though his body’s cultivation had plummeted, his Nascent Soul level was still more than sufficient; he wasn’t afraid of this mere sea of clouds at all.
