Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 19 Part 1

After consulting the big boss, Shen Leyuan sought out each of the kids for a private talk.

He didn’t mention that business about comparing sizes.

No need.

Though what he’d overheard was awkward as hell, all young people went through that phase—fiery, restless, and boldly dramatic. Years later, looking back, it wouldn’t embarrass them; they’d just laugh at their own immaturity.

He started with Sheng Shisi, chatting with the young man about his crush.

“To be honest, this isn’t something I should meddle in,” Shen Leyuan said straight to the point. “But Little Deer’s mind isn’t mature enough yet, and he’s far too naive when it comes to emotions. I don’t recommend starting a romantic relationship right now.”

Sheng Shisi paused slightly.

Shen Leyuan explained, “I learned some things from Mr. Lin.”

Sheng Shisi lowered his gaze. The cold hardness in his expression softened a bit, replaced by an indescribable emotion—like unease, or the stubborn silence of a child who’d done something wrong.

The high school seniors Shen Leyuan had first brought along were about this age now.

“First, let me share my thoughts,” he said with a smile, smoothly reassuring him. “You’re all adults. Crushes and relationships are your freedom. If you insist on dating, I won’t stop you—I could even help persuade Mr. Lin.”

Sheng Shisi looked up, his handsome face tense and rigid.

Shen Leyuan continued, “I can’t judge if your views on love are good or bad, but it’s clear they won’t hurt Little Deer, so I’m at ease on that front. However—”

Before he could finish, Sheng Shisi said earnestly, “I don’t mind if he hurts me.”

Shen Leyuan shook his head helplessly. “That’s not what I meant.”

“As long as you’re both willing, so-called ‘hurt’ is just two people getting what they want. I still think there’s no room for a third party in a relationship, but this is your love, not mine.”

All lies.

Like Lin Yuan, he thought A Si’s feelings were abnormal.

But he couldn’t say it outright—he had to coax him in circles.

Sheng Shisi listened expressionlessly, seeming utterly unmoved.

In reality, he was spacing out, thinking: He acts like an elder.

A barely twenty-year-old elder.

“In short, I have no intention of prying into your views on love.”

The young elder met his gaze, his gentle tone suddenly turning serious. “But you must understand: Little Deer is too immature right now. What he can’t handle isn’t just love—it’s family ties, friendships, and even basic social skills.”

“He’s like a sick child who needs rehabilitation, who needs to rediscover the world—and rediscover all of you.”

Shen Leyuan asked, “Are you willing to give him time to grow?”

Outside the door, Lin Yao pressed his ear against it and rolled his eyes in disgust.

The Fox Spirit sure knows how to sweet-talk. Says he won’t stop them, but every word is pushing A Si away from Little Deer.

“Give him time to grow”? What a pipe dream.

If Little Deer could grow up, the old man wouldn’t have him cooped up in the villa, surrounded by bodyguards taking shifts to watch him like some virus under quarantine—not even letting this group interact with him.

My wife stays forever young, forever fickle, forever hungry for new meat.

Too bad A Si wasn’t as clear-headed as him. He was getting played by the Fox Spirit, easily handing over promises like “I’ll wait for him.”

The conversation ended, footsteps approaching, the doorknob turning.

Lin Yao hurried back to the ward. He turned too sharply, yanking his wound, his face twisting in pain—but he didn’t stop, hobbling around the corner just before A Si emerged.

Next up was Little Deer.

A Si’s gaze followed his beloved’s retreating back, continuing his silent crush.

Lin Yao mocked him. “You don’t even dare chase him. Your ‘like’ is less than a fart—at least a fart makes a sound!”

“You chased,” A Si countered flatly. “Did you catch him?”

Lin Yao’s face turned ashen. He muttered something about “if the old man wasn’t controlling me,” “the Fox Spirit screwed me over,” “Little Deer’s blind,” like a sore loser mocked for stealing books.

His only audience pulled the blanket over his head, ignoring him.

Lin Yao’s eyes darted slyly. He slipped out of bed and trailed after Little Deer, eager to sneak a peek at how the Fox Spirit coaxed his wife—maybe pick up some seduction tricks.

Shen Leyuan didn’t coax.

He projected a video segment onto the wall, his face stern as he spat out two words: “Explain.”

The footage was blurry, but it faintly showed the boy’s actions. Zoomed in and enhanced, it became clearer: he was unfastening the muzzle on the black dog’s mouth, practically prying its jaws open to shove his hand inside.

Little Deer didn’t grasp the severity, but he read the teacher’s expression and shrank back timidly. “Explain… what?”

Explain how Brother and A Si got bitten?

It wasn’t Little Deer’s fault. Little Deer didn’t ask Brother or A Si to save him. Teacher called A Si first earlier, but A Si isn’t even Teacher’s student. If Little Deer got hurt, Teacher would’ve called Little Deer first!

The more he thought, the more wronged he felt. He puffed out his cheeks in a sulk.

Shen Leyuan tapped the desk with a teaching aid, yanking the boy’s wandering attention back. “Explain why you hurt yourself.”

Little Deer blinked slowly, then again. He didn’t get it.

Shen Leyuan rubbed his throbbing forehead wearily and rephrased. “What were you thinking when you undid the muzzle?”

Little Deer lit up excitedly, accusing him aggrievedly. “Teacher doesn’t keep his word! Last time, you said you only cared about Brother because he was doing poorly. Now Brother and Little Deer are both doing great, but you still only look at Brother, only talk to Brother!”

Shen Leyuan was incredulous. “So you hurt yourself?”

“Just a little bite, and Teacher’s time would all be Little Deer’s.” Dreamy anticipation lit the boy’s face. “Teacher’s eyes only on Little Deer, mouth only talking to Little Deer, heart full of only Little Deer, only caring about Little Deer…”

Thinking about it makes me so happy. But why wouldn’t the dog bite me?

All Brother and A Si’s fault!

Shen Leyuan’s breath hitched as dense chills poured from his scalp.

“But…” His voice came out hoarse and dry. “This is wrong.”

“Where’s wrong?” Little Deer asked, puzzled.

“Hurting yourself to get attention—it’s too much, it’s not normal!” Shen Leyuan took a deep breath, steadying himself with effort, switching to a way better suited for Little Deer. “This won’t do! You can’t! Absolutely not!”

But Teacher’s looking at me right now…

Teacher’s eyes, heart—all me. No one else…

As usual, Little Deer asked sweetly and softly, “Why not? What happens if I do? Will Teacher punish me?”

“Yes!” Shen Leyuan gritted his teeth, extra fierce. “Harshly!”

“Yay~” Little Deer curved his eyes in a smile and held out his palm. “Teacher, punish Little Deer.”

Seeing the young man freeze, he rolled up his sleeve, baring his pale, soft arm, smug as could be. “Light punishment is the palm, so harsh must be the arm, right?”

See, Little Deer’s so smart. Time for praise!

A dull ache throbbed in Shen Leyuan’s chest, his mind spinning. “No, punishment is a means, not the goal—it’s to make you understand… Little Deer, injuries hurt. They scar. Severe ones can disable you. Do you get that?”

“Disable?” Little Deer asked. “Like Daddy?”

Shen Leyuan nodded, then shook his head. “Maybe unable to walk, or other parts won’t work. Every part of life gets affected.”

“It’ll be miserable,” he said.

Little Deer fell silent, brow furrowed in thought.

Shen Leyuan pressed on. “Think: a person’s attention is limited, patience and sympathy too. If you always use self-harm to draw people in, they’ll eventually get fed up and leave. What if you break a leg too? You won’t even catch them!”

Little Deer echoed strangely, “They’ll get fed up and leave?”

Shen Leyuan: “Yes.”

“Break a leg and can’t catch them?”

“Yes!”

Seeing it sink in, Shen Leyuan kept going with the logic. “Not just legs—if your hand’s hurt, you can’t hold what they give you. Stomach injured, no eating together. Eyes hurt, no watching cartoons. Mouth injured…”

“Can’t kiss Teacher,” Little Deer mumbled.

“…” Shen Leyuan held back, not correcting him now—first handle the urgent fire. “Anyway, self-harm for sympathy is totally unacceptable.”

Little Deer drooped. “I get it. That really won’t work.”

Shen Leyuan exhaled in relief, his suspended heart—

“Then I can only hurt Teacher,” Little Deer muttered bitterly to himself. “If Teacher’s leg breaks, he can’t run away, right?”

Shen Leyuan: …

His heart finally dropped dead.

“No!” He snapped, patience gone, tone turning irritable. “No one expresses like with hurt! How do you even think that? How do you have such terrifying…”

Stop. Don’t get emotional.

He breathed deep, softening his voice. “Sorry, Teacher needs a moment alone. Can you give me some space?”

It was a pleading tone. He looked a bit pitiful.

I love Teacher like this…

Little Deer’s breath quickened. Teacher’s only looking at me, only thinking of me—and begging me. He’s so obedient. A little more scared, more afraid… would he agree to anything?

No, no—that’d scare Teacher off.

Little Deer’s legs weren’t lame, but Daddy controlled him so tightly—he couldn’t catch Teacher either.

Nail crescents dug into his palm. Little Deer puffed his cheeks, whining. “Then Teacher kiss me once. I’ll be good—I was just talking, didn’t really break Teacher’s leg.”

He’s holding back so hard. Can’t I get a reward?

The boy reverted to his usual soft sweetness, as if those terrifying words were a hallucination—yet his lack of normal understanding leaked dark, twisted thoughts and true nature.

Shen Leyuan’s inner horror intensified. He refused sharply, “No!”

Why?

Little Deer felt utterly wronged. “I’ve been good lately, studying what Teacher teaches seriously. No secretly cursing Daddy, no fussing that Teacher doesn’t keep his word. Don’t I deserve a little kiss as a reward?”

“No!” Shen Leyuan overreacted, then forced calm. “Give Teacher some time to prepare a better surprise for Little Deer, okay?”

Not okay. Not at all.

Little Deer’s eyes darkened, the smile vanishing from his cat-like lips, looking eerily gloomy. “Teacher, will you never kiss Little Deer? Never like Little Deer?”

“Of course not,” Shen Leyuan dodged the first part, answering only the second. “Teacher likes Little Deer a lot. Still does.”

Liar.

Now it’s all just fear.

“Then kiss Little Deer,” Lin Shilu stepped closer, tiptoeing toward his beloved teacher. “Kiss once, and Little Deer will believe you.”

Shen Leyuan: “There are many kinds of like.”

Little Deer’s face grew gloomier, but his tone stayed sweet. “Teacher, you can’t give zero sugar and just coax Little Deer to believe you.”

Little Deer’s waited so long, but the sugar’s getting less.

Teacher’s giving it to other kids.

The boy pressed closer. Shen Leyuan’s heart clenched in pain, breath shaky as he leaned back, palm against the boy’s thin, warm chest—unable to push away.

“Little Deer!!!”

Two voices overlapped—one from Shen Leyuan, the other from Lin Yao, who’d burst in at his limit.

Help…

In Little Deer’s stunned instant, Shen Leyuan bolted like a rabbit, hiding behind Lin Yao to wrap up. “Anyway, no self-harm! No hurting others!”
