After Marrying Professor Song 28

Chapter 28

The kiss was losing control.

Their breathing became ragged, their bodies pressed close together, the heat between them intensifying.

Especially noticeable in the enclosed space of the car.

Lu Xuefeng could barely think.

Finally, Song Muqing stopped, his hot breath against Lu Xuefeng’s jaw and neck, sending shivers down his spine.

He rested his head on Lu Xuefeng’s shoulder, trying to catch his breath.

Their bodies intertwined, their positions intimate and clinging, their heartbeats echoing each other.

The silence was filled only by the sound of their breathing.

It felt like an eternity.

When they finally parted, Lu Xuefeng couldn’t see Song Muqing’s expression clearly in the darkness, but he could feel his unsteady breath.

Song Muqing sat back, putting his glasses back on, his demeanor once again calm and composed.

“Sorry,” he looked at Lu Xuefeng, his voice slightly husky. “Did I scare you?”

“…No.”

He said no, but Song Muqing could tell he was still slightly dazed.

This had been their first truly passionate kiss.

Lu Xuefeng exhaled softly, unconsciously licking his lips.

The lingering scent of Song Muqing was still strong.

He thought that if they hadn’t been in the car, it might have escalated further.

Desire was a natural part of being an adult.

Lu Xuefeng was aware of his own arousal.

He didn’t feel ashamed; it was normal.

But Song Muqing’s expression was unreadable.

He seemed calm and collected, as if unaffected.

Was he truly asexual?

In the dim light of the car, they looked at each other, their thoughts hidden.

Song Muqing touched Lu Xuefeng’s eyes. “I won’t do that again. I’ll control myself.”

“…”

Lu Xuefeng didn’t say anything.

After a moment, he commented, “You really like kissing.”

Song Muqing chuckled softly. “I couldn’t resist.”

He didn’t deny it; it was true.

He simply enjoyed kissing Lu Xuefeng.

On their last day of work before the New Year, Jin Hong gave everyone gifts, wishing them a happy new year.

The theater was filled with a festive atmosphere, everyone anticipating the holiday.

After the year-end summary meeting, Lu Xuefeng left to meet Song Muqing.

It was the coldest part of winter, the air biting.

People bundled up in thick layers, hurrying past.

Lu Xuefeng walked towards Song Muqing, who had been waiting for him, breaking into a light jog for the last few steps.

“No need to rush,” Song Muqing said.

“It’s too cold. I didn’t want you to wait.”

Lu Xuefeng adjusted his scarf, pulling it higher, covering half his face.

“Where are we going?” he asked.

“Dinner.”

They had plans for the evening, a celebration for the start of Lu Xuefeng’s vacation.

Song Muqing had already chosen a restaurant, so Lu Xuefeng simply followed him.

They drove through the city, the bare trees lining the streets standing starkly against the winter sky. Lu Xuefeng watched the scenery blur past the car window.

The restaurant was a Japanese place.

It was always popular, and they wanted to have one last meal before it closed for the holidays.

They were shown to a small, private room, just enough for two.

Lu Xuefeng removed his scarf and coat, setting them aside.

“What would you like to eat?” Song Muqing handed him the menu.

Lu Xuefeng didn’t usually eat much, but he was hungry today and ordered a bit more than usual.

The food arrived quickly.

Sukiyaki was perfect for winter, the steaming broth warming them instantly. Thinly sliced beef covered the surface, looking incredibly appetizing.

The salmon also looked fresh and delicious, perfect with a bit of wasabi.

They also had unagi don, sushi, and tempura.

More than enough for two.

“Mom said we should buy some decorations for the apartment. She said it should feel more festive for the New Year,” Song Muqing mentioned.

“Tomorrow then?” Lu Xuefeng asked, cracking open a raw egg and dipping a slice of beef into it before eating it.

The flavor was exquisite.

Good food was always satisfying, warming him from the inside out.

“You just started your vacation. We can rest for a few days.”

Song Muqing said there was no rush; they had plenty of time.

“Okay, we’ll go in a couple of days.”

Lu Xuefeng thought he should decorate his grandmother’s apartment as well, saving her the trouble and ensuring her safety.

In the past, she had always put up couplets and window decorations for the New Year.

He mentioned this to Song Muqing, who agreed.

They discussed what to buy; preparing for the New Year took time.

This was their first New Year together as a married couple; they wanted to make it special.

Lu Xuefeng thought it would be nice.

They ate and chatted, the food slowly disappearing.

“It’s a bit hot,” Lu Xuefeng said after eating a piece of vegetable.

There was a pot of hot genmaicha on the table, and they had poured themselves cups while waiting for their food.

Lu Xuefeng had finished his, but Song Muqing’s was still full, now lukewarm.

He handed it to him. “Drink this.”

Lu Xuefeng took the cup and finished it.

Song Muqing looked up, noticing Lu Xuefeng’s slightly reddened lips from the hot food.

The steam from the sukiyaki pot created a hazy atmosphere.

“Eat slowly,” Song Muqing said.

Lu Xuefeng explained softly, “I’m not rushing.”

It was just that the broth was hot, and the vegetables had absorbed the heat.

He poured himself another cup of tea. “This is quite good.”

The tea in the pot was warm, not too hot, drinkable straight away.

Song Muqing raised an eyebrow. “Really?”

He reached for the cup Lu Xuefeng had just used, wanting to try it.

“I’ll get you another cup,” Lu Xuefeng offered.

It was the cup he had used.

Song Muqing chuckled softly. “We’ve kissed; do you mind?”

Lu Xuefeng paused, meeting his gaze.

He had a point.

They had kissed more than once, even shared a passionate kiss; there was no need to be so particular, and Song Muqing wouldn’t mind.

Lu Xuefeng couldn’t argue, handing him the cup.

Song Muqing took a sip, the subtle fragrance of roasted rice lingering on his palate.

“It is quite good.”

After finishing their meal, they sat for a while, chatting idly.

It was still early. Song Muqing glanced at his phone, then stood up. “Let’s go.”

Lu Xuefeng followed him, retrieving his coat. “Are we going home?”

“To the cinema.”

“Is there a new movie out?”

Lu Xuefeng was puzzled; he hadn’t been following movie releases. Usually, new movies premiered after the New Year, during the holiday season.

Song Muqing shook his head, smiling. “It’s an old movie.”

Lu Xuefeng nodded slightly.

“You’ll like it,” Song Muqing added, looking at him.

Lu Xuefeng, trusting his judgment, expressed his anticipation.

Song Muqing indeed understood his preferences.

They had watched movies together at home before, with Lu Xuefeng choosing the films.

Song Muqing had deduced his preferences from the books and movies he enjoyed.

So, when the news of this classic film’s re-release came out, he knew Lu Xuefeng would like it.

Perhaps because it was the end of the year and the weather was cold, the cinema wasn’t crowded.

There were only a few scattered viewers.

It was a slow-paced film, with a melancholic and introspective atmosphere, requiring patience and attention.

The cinema was quiet during the screening.

Lu Xuefeng watched intently, the flickering light from the screen reflecting on his face.

Song Muqing occasionally glanced at him.

He had the same focused expression when they watched movies at home, completely immersed in the story. But at home, they would discuss the plot points; they couldn’t do that in a cinema.

They didn’t speak much during the film, only discussing it after the credits rolled and the other viewers had left.

After watching it, it felt like an unfinished dream.

They discussed whether the second half of the film was still a dream sequence or reality.

The final scene, with the protagonist waking up on a train in a tunnel, was thought-provoking.

They both had their own interpretations.

But they weren’t trying to convince each other; they were simply discussing the director’s intentions and the message of the film.

Stepping out of the cinema, they noticed white flakes falling from the dark sky.

Light and fluffy, they realized it was snowing.

Lu Xuefeng looked up. “It’s snowing.”

No wonder it was so cold.

Song Muqing also looked up at the sky, the white snowflakes falling against the dark backdrop.

Like cottonwood fluff.

“The first snow of the year came so late.”

Song Muqing said, then turned to look at Lu Xuefeng.

Lu Xuefeng’s expression, as he looked up at the sky, was much the same as before, distant and ethereal, like the snow.

Blending in with the falling snowflakes.

Like a scene from another winter.

But Song Muqing didn’t think it was too late.

He said, feeling a sense of gratitude, “But thankfully, you’re here with me.”

“…Hmm?” Lu Xuefeng looked at him, puzzled.

Song Muqing smiled, his eyes reflecting Lu Xuefeng’s image, his gentle expression almost melting the snow.

He didn’t say more, just brushed the snowflakes off Lu Xuefeng’s shoulder and adjusted his scarf, making sure he was warm.

“Ready to go home?”

“Yes.”

Lu Xuefeng agreed softly.

Song Muqing extended his hand, and Lu Xuefeng, without hesitation, placed his hand in his, his palm enveloped in a warm grasp.

Song Muqing tucked their joined hands into his coat pocket.

Lu Xuefeng always felt his pockets were warmer than his own, perhaps because Song Muqing’s body temperature was higher.

He always radiated a sense of warmth and security.

They walked into the falling snow together.
