Chapter 45: The Beta Who Hates Alphas Part 1

The manager finally stepped in, urging them not to let things escalate into a real conflict.

“You’re pretty lucky,” he added before leaving. “The boss is coming back from overseas, and the timing lines up perfectly—he’ll arrive just in time for your concert.”

At those words, the others instinctively turned to look at Shen Anliu.

He paused for a moment, lost in thought.

“In any case, put on a good show. If the boss is happy, the resources will keep flowing.”

They didn’t chat right away. Instead, they tacitly left the infirmary and returned to their apartment.

“What does your organization think of the company?” Jiang Nianxing asked curiously.

Yu Sui glanced at Shen Anliu upon hearing the question.

Shen Anliu immediately assumed it was about revenge, but the young man had no idea what the organization’s true intentions were. No one could say for sure.

“I’m not clear on that either,” Shen Anliu said as he stood up. “I’ll make a phone call.”

The others remained in the living room, their expressions darkening.

“Just what kind of person is this boss, anyway?” Lu Jinxia asked with a frown.

A lot of the company’s Alphas had been coerced or lured in through threats and bribes. It was hard to fathom what experiences could breed such hatred toward Alphas.

Unable to figure it out, they pushed the thought aside for now.

Shen Anliu returned to his room and dialed Lin Xiaoyi’s number.

“Hello.”

“I was just about to message you,” Lin Xiaoyi said. “Did you know your teammate is a Beta?”

“Huh?” Shen Anliu blinked in surprise. “What do you mean?”

“Yu Sui.” Lin Xiaoyi’s tone was oddly strained. “His personality and looks don’t scream Beta. Is he from the organization?”

Shen Anliu was stunned. “He… he’s a Beta?”

“If he didn’t lack a gland, I’d have pegged him for an Omega. What’s got you so shocked?” Lin Xiaoyi asked, puzzled. “Test him out. His presence at Star Sea Entertainment is suspicious as hell. All the info I’ve dug up might just be surface-level.”

“What info? Send it over,” Shen Anliu said.

“Sure thing,” Lin Xiaoyi replied. “What did you want to tell me?”

“The manager just said the boss behind the scenes is coming back to the country soon,” Shen Anliu explained.

Lin Xiaoyi paused. “For real?”

“Yeah, and he’ll be watching our concert,” Shen Anliu added.

“Got it. I’ll report this up the chain.”

They ended the call.

Shen Anliu opened his laptop. The folder on the screen held everything there was on Yu Sui.

A Beta, and privately…

Shen Anliu raised an eyebrow, unmoved by the details. What truly surprised him was Yu Sui’s reason for joining the company.

It was downright bizarre. And the young man’s behavior didn’t match the profile’s anti-Alpha hatred at all—maybe it was all a front.

Was he from the organization too? If so, why hadn’t he made contact?

Meanwhile, Yu Sui and the System were combing through the plot, but unfortunately, in the original storyline, they had already toppled the company, and the cannon fodder characters were long offstage.

In the end, Shen Anliu decided not to dwell on it.

That evening, they ordered takeout. After dinner, Jiang Nianxing reminded him, “Sui Sui, make sure to lock your door tonight.”

Shen Anliu shot him a cold look. “You’re the one with ulterior motives.”

And he hadn’t even spoken up yet—what gave this guy the right to play the main consort?

Yu Sui had no interest in their bickering. He headed upstairs.

“Bro, there’s something I want to talk to you about,” Shen Anliu said, following him.

Yu Sui turned, puzzled. “What is it?”

“Let’s talk upstairs.”

Yu Sui eyed him suspiciously. Shen Anliu cleared his throat. “Bro, don’t worry. I won’t try anything funny.”

They entered the room.

Shen Anliu sat in a chair and fixed Yu Sui with a steady gaze. “Lin Xiaoyi looked into your background. What’s your real purpose at the company?”

Yu Sui saw right through it—another guy who’d dug up his entire life story. He didn’t bother hiding the truth. “That’s right. I’m a Beta, and I joined Star Sea Entertainment to keep down Alphas like you all.”

“That’s way too reckless,” Shen Anliu said, shaking his head in disapproval.

“Nothing else you want to say?” So much for the promised kindness and virtue—only the good looks were real, huh.

“I’m no saint either, and you’re not wrong. Alphas do get better treatment in society,” Shen Anliu admitted. “Bro, I’m actually an Alpha transformed from a Beta, so I get that feeling.”

“An Alpha modified from a Beta?” Yu Sui stared in shock. “Wait, you’re not a natural-born Alpha?”

Shen Anliu shook his head. “Our organization has modified a lot of people—various genders… I’m from this batch.”

Yu Sui was floored. He started questioning the original plot entirely.

After all, even the protagonist’s gender info had been wrong.

“What about you, bro?” Shen Anliu pressed, studying him. “No other identities?”

“I’m just an ordinary guy,” Yu Sui said, shaking his head.

His mind was still reeling.

“Do you remember your parents?” Shen Anliu asked, scrutinizing his face. Doubts about the young man’s origins began to form.

“My parents?” Yu Sui looked blank. The info he’d received painted him as an orphan.

He shook his head.

“I want to have someone look into it,” Shen Anliu said.

“Huh?” Yu Sui blinked, dazed.

Could a mere cannon fodder like him have some hidden bombshell identity?

Still, he didn’t refuse.

It dawned on Yu Sui belatedly. “No wonder you never leaked any pheromones before.”

“Since I’m modified, my pheromones aren’t strong—they’re pretty subdued and cool-toned,” Shen Anliu explained, looking at Yu Sui. “Of course, that’s for Omega marking. Normal life is no problem.”

“Stop! No driving!” Yu Sui cut him off.

Shen Anliu’s eyes curved into a smile.

He left the room and asked Lin Xiaoyi to investigate.

He kept this from the others.

The group continued their rehearsals methodically.

Soon, the day of the performance arrived.

They arrived at the stadium early to run through positions and iron out any glitches.

Yu Sui gazed at the vast, empty venue, which could hold thousands. The pressure felt immense.

No one said much. They simply practiced alongside him.

On the actual performance day, Yu Sui found himself weirdly calm.

They changed into their outfits, did makeup, and checked their gear.

Yu Sui stared out at the sea of people waving glow sticks, feeling dizzy.

He couldn’t even make out individual faces. Without the in-ear monitors, he probably wouldn’t hear his own voice.

This was what it meant to be an idol?

Yu Sui had never gotten it before—he wasn’t into chasing stars. Now, standing onstage under all those eyes, he felt it: like an electric shock, his heart pounding wildly.

He took a deep breath and threw himself into the music.

No more rote memorization—it was rhythmic, interactive dancing now.

In the backstage lounge.

Chen Qing answered a call and stood with utmost respect to greet the arrival.

A man in a sharp suit and sunglasses strode in through the VIP passage.

He settled onto the sofa and watched the big screen.

“Where’d you find these two?” The man, wearing black leather gloves, pointed at Shen Anliu and Yu Sui on the screen.

His expression was grim.

Chen Qing froze at the question. “Boss, what’s wrong?”

“Have you checked their backgrounds?” The boss whipped around, his face twisting savagely.

“We investigated Shen Anliu—no notable background, solid skills,” Chen Qing replied. “As for Yu Sui, he signed up on his own. Great face for promotion, strong commercial appeal, though a bit unruly.”

“Is that so?” The man’s features contorted as he snatched the remote from the table and hurled it at the screen. “I’ll be waiting in the VIP box. Bring them to dinner afterward.”

He stormed out.

Chen Qing wiped the sweat from his brow, knowing he’d messed up.

But he couldn’t figure out—what backgrounds did these two have?

One song after another, Yu Sui’s voice grew hoarse.

Thankfully, nothing went wrong. The concert wrapped up successfully.

For the final segment, it was the interaction round.

Personal intros, then greetings to the fans.

The crowd below screamed CP names, along with solo fans urging them to take care of their faves.

Yu Sui grew uneasy again, his smile stiffening.

This part felt even more exhausting than the performance.

But he powered through.

Backstage, he wiped away his sweat.

They changed back into their own clothes, removed their makeup, and then the manager approached.

“The boss is waiting for you in the VIP box.”

Chen Qing’s face wasn’t joyful; his eyes held a warning: you’re on your own.

Yu Sui blinked, exchanging a glance with Shen Anliu.

The manager had glanced specifically at them.

Jiang Nianxing and the other two looked serious, worried for Yu Sui.

“Let’s go.”

They slipped out of the venue quietly and headed to the hotel’s VIP box.

A five-star hotel.

The place was eerily empty—probably booked out entirely.

They took the elevator to the ninth floor.

The manager knocked politely.

Knock knock knock.

“Come in.”

At the boss’s voice, the manager pushed open the door and gestured for them to enter.

Yu Sui looked up curiously. When he saw the boss, he paused, mildly surprised.

A strikingly handsome older man, and he didn’t seem like an Alpha.

Noticing the stare, the boss shot him a displeased glare.

Yu Sui averted his eyes, puzzled.

Shen Anliu was inwardly shocked too but kept it hidden.

They took their seats, and the manager gave a report.

“You, out,” the boss waved him off.

Chen Qing hesitated. Before leaving, he said, “They’ve all worked hard and cooperated fully with the company’s plans, boss. You…”

“Out!”

Chen Qing didn’t dare say more. He left and closed the door.

The boss sized them up. “You three, out.”

He pointed at Jiang Nianxing and the others, then shooed them away.

“Boss…” Not knowing the boss’s name, they could only address him this way.

The three men didn’t move, their faces etched with wariness.

“What’s wrong? Can’t I speak with my employees alone anymore?” The boss’s gaze carried an oppressive weight.

“I’ll stay behind by myself.” Shen Anliu said, “Whatever you want to know, I might have answers.”

“Oh? You’ve got some spine.” The boss’s tone dripped with mockery as he turned to Yu Sui. “And you?”

“I’ll stay too.” Yu Sui glanced at the other three. “Wait for us.”

Hearing him speak like that, the three had no choice but to stand up.

But once they stepped outside, they didn’t go far. They stayed alert, ready for anything.

The boss toyed with the ring on his finger. “What did he send you to my company for?”

The question came out of nowhere. At least, that’s how it felt to Yu Sui and Shen Anliu.

“You…” Shen Anliu had a bold suspicion forming. This man was connected to the organization…

“Heh, I should have known…” The man suddenly muttered to himself. “I don’t even need you to do anything. Just your presence is enough to stir up all those ugly memories.”

He seemed to recall something, and veins bulged on his neck.

Yu Sui had a guess of his own forming in his mind.

He glanced at Shen Anliu.

Ding-a-ling—

Shen Anliu’s phone rang right then.

He checked it and saw it was Lin Xiaoyi. The timing felt off—too coincidental. Shen Anliu answered.

“Liu Yunyue.”

The man’s voice on the other end carried a mocking lilt. “Time to come home.”

Shen Anliu’s pupils shrank at the sound.

He’d never dealt with the higher-ups face-to-face, but he’d heard that voice before.

That man…

Liu Yunyue couldn’t hold back his rage anymore. “Why won’t you just go away? I told you I hate you—I hate you with every fiber of my being!”

“From Omega to the alpha you’ve always dreamed of being, Liu Yunyue—I told you there’d be a price, and you agreed. I even let you run wild out there, treating those alphas like livestock in a pen, and I cleaned up your messes every time. How are you still not satisfied?”

“Because I can’t stand alphas! Are you deaf?” Liu Yunyue roared into the phone. “What will it take for you to leave me alone?”

“Unless you die.” The response was ice-cold. “But you won’t die. You’re too afraid.”

He sounded utterly certain.

Liu Yunyue fell silent.

The call ended amid a burst of laughter.

How Miserable is a Straight Man Playing a Tool Character in Restricted Novels [Quick Transmigration]

直男扮演限制文工具人有多惨[快穿]
Status: Completed Native Language: Chinese

After his death, Yu Sui was bound to the System. All he had to do was play the role of a tool character in R18 novels, pushing the plot along to gather revival energy.

System: You're really just foreplay for the protagonists.

Yu Sui: Fine.

World One: Beta Who Hates Alphas

[You are a foolish Beta who hates Alphas. You disguise yourself as a high-class Alpha to infiltrate an all-Alpha boy band, using a fake identity to belittle your teammates. Out of jealousy for their talents, you become twisted, hell-bent on ruining them as you repeatedly court disaster—but you always end up hoisted by your own petard. Thanks to your schemes, the protagonists find their happy ending. Then your true identity is exposed, and brutal revenge awaits...]

Yu Sui diligently stuck to the script. By day, he trashed his teammates to build up their hatred. Behind the scenes, he pulled off one shady stunt after another.

To cook up a teammate scandal, Yu Sui used an alt account to add one of them and chat about flirty topics. But his target dove in even harder, obsessing day after day over his legs, his waist, dying to kiss his mouth...

Yu Sui was floored. Whatever happened to that deep devotion, with eyes only for the protagonist shou and everyone else just background noise? Did a dog eat that character setup?

Desperate to snap proof of infighting, he racked his brains to stir up trouble between them.

Instead of teaming up to mess with him as scripted, his teammates actually threw down for real!

All over his missing underwear...

Yu Sui: He felt a little dead inside. Exactly who the hell stole his underwear?!

The scheme to drug his teammates and make them look bad—which was meant to accidentally spark the protagonists' romance—backfired spectacularly. Yu Sui took the hit instead. His Alpha-phobic teammate rubbed his ankle with an ambiguous purr. "Tried to screw me over? So how should I make you pay?"

Terror gripped Yu Sui. Fear consumed him. He shook his head wildly.

Don't come any closer!

World Two: Incompetent Husband

[Unable to give your beautiful wife the happiness he deserves, you've grown psychologically warped, forever fantasizing that he's stepping out on you. To test the theory, you drag your boss home, engineering one chance after another for them to be alone as you try to catch them in the act. In the end, they really do cheat—and since you can't cross the boss, you swallow your rage and play dumb...]

Yu Sui threw himself into the role of the paranoid, spineless husband. Timid and cowering outside the home, he'd raise a fuss indoors, inviting the boss over again and again to give the pair "privacy."

But the wife—supposed to lose patience and hook up with the boss out of spite—ditched his usual restraint. Pinching Yu Sui's waist, eyes red with fury, he snarled, "Shoving me aside over and over, then bringing your boss home to make googly eyes—do you think I'm blind?"

Body and soul worn to the breaking point, Yu Sui refused to give up on salvaging the plot. He cornered the boss to test the waters.

Spotting Yu Sui's suggestive outfit, the boss's voice soured. "Didn't you promise to keep him away?"

Eyes lighting up at the jealousy, Yu Sui figured a job threat was coming next.

"Stringing me along every damn day—when are you dumping him so I can step up?" The boss's gaze burned with envy.

Yu Sui: ???

When the hell had he strung the boss along?! No way—the plot was derailing again!
