Since Jing Chi’s injury was only a minor cut to his hand, Pang Chunxia’s husband was detained at the police station for just seven days. After paying a fine, he was released.
The man walked home in high spirits, never imagining that a single knife slash would secure his comfortable life for the rest of his days.
But in the next moment, darkness fell before his eyes, a sharp pain struck the back of his neck, and he blacked out.
“Splash some water on him to wake him up.” The man’s voice was ice-cold.
With a splash, a basin of cold water doused Wang Dahong from head to toe.
His body jerked, and he opened his eyes. Seeing the group of people in black clothes facing him, he panicked and stammered, “Y-you… who are you? Where am I? A-aren’t you afraid of the police?”
Feng Qinghan sat in a chair and let out a cold laugh. “Afraid now, are we?”
Wang Dahong followed the voice and saw a strikingly handsome face.
But that face made his pupils contract.
“It’s you.” His voice trembled even more.
Wang Dahong knew he had to stick to one story at all costs: that Feng Qinghan had killed his wife. Otherwise, if that person found out he’d betrayed them, how would he ever get his money?
His expression changed in an instant, and he blustered with false bravado, “What, you killed my wife and now you want to kill me too?”
“Killed your wife.” Feng Qinghan chuckled lightly at that, his eyes full of contempt as he tossed the dossier he’d gathered onto the table in front of the man.
Wang Dahong, male, 58 years old. Wife: Pang Chunxia. After a successful surgery more than half a month ago, she should have undergone follow-up chemotherapy. But you forced her discharge, preventing proper recovery. The relapse and complications led to her death.”
“And the reason you were in such a hurry? Because the woman on the side gave you a son, right?”
Sure enough, as soon as he finished speaking, Wang Dahong’s face turned ashen. He knew it was all out in the open.
“Want to see a photo of that son of yours?”
Feng Qinghan dangled his phone lightly.
He might not care about much else, but that late-in-life son was his lifeline. How could Wang Dahong not care?
“I’ll talk! I’ll talk!” he blurted out.
“Someone approached me and offered two million, as long as I injured your hand.”
“Who?” Feng Qinghan’s gaze turned icy.
“I don’t know exactly. The person who always contacted me seemed like a secretary. But one day during our talk, they let slip the name ‘President Lu.'”
“President Lu.” Feng Qinghan murmured the title, and a figure immediately came to mind.
Lu Shichen.
He hadn’t planned to dwell on the matters of his previous life, but why did this man have to come crashing back into it—especially dragging Jing Chi into the mess?
Wang Dahong immediately begged, “I’ve told you everything I know. You can let me go now, right?”
Feng Qinghan nodded indifferently. “Sure. And as a bonus, here’s some news for you: that child isn’t yours.”
The words struck like a dagger to the heart.
Wang Dahong froze in shock, collapsing to the floor in a daze.
As Feng Qinghan left, he instructed his men, “Break his hand.”
He would show no mercy to anyone who harmed Jing Chi.

Only a few days remained before Jing Chi was due to join the film crew, and his hand had mostly healed by now.
He had hoped to spend the time before heading to the set with Feng Qinghan, but lately, the man had been incredibly busy.
Days were spent at the hospital, and nights back at the villa were devoted to handling documents until midnight.
Seeing him so exhausted, Jing Chi didn’t have the heart to bother him further.
Feng Qinghan’s busyness stemmed from gradually taking over parts of the company.
All to bring down Lu Corporation.
Drawing lessons from his previous life, things were progressing smoothly this time. In that life, he would have succeeded if not for the unexpected twists.
Who would have thought he’d circle back to this point?
Lu Corporation wasn’t some small fry, though. He couldn’t topple it entirely in a short time, but he could certainly make their lives hell.
On the final day before Jing Chi’s departure, he couldn’t hold back any longer.
Jing Chi knocked on the study door and pushed it open without waiting for a response.
“Brother, I’m heading off to start filming tomorrow. Aren’t you going to show some appreciation?”
Feng Qinghan pretended not to understand. He kept his head down, continuing to work through the stack of company documents, and said casually, “Then I wish you a smooth journey.”
“What a smooth journey that is.” Jing Chi gritted his teeth, his gaze darkening.
He strode right over and scooped the man straight out of his chair.
“Jing Chi!” Feng Qinghan let out a startled cry and hurriedly wrapped his arms around the young man’s neck.
Jing Chi gave the man’s backside a light pat. He arched an eyebrow, his tone laced with suggestive ambiguity. “Brother’s been naughty. He needs a good spanking.”
Feng Qinghan froze for a moment at Jing Chi’s words. Then realization dawned, and a flush crept across his face. In a mix of embarrassment and annoyance, he sank his teeth into Jing Chi’s collarbone—only to hear the young man let out a muffled grunt as his breathing suddenly grew heavy.
“Looks like Brother can’t wait any longer.” The youth’s voice turned husky, carrying a note of sensuality.
Later on, Jing Chi pretty much drained himself dry—and drained Feng Qinghan right along with him.
The next day, when Feng Qinghan woke, Jing Chi was already gone.
Propping himself up on his aching waist, he let out a helpless sigh. “Young people really do recover fast.”
He picked up his phone and saw a message from Jing Chi:
【Brother, miss me while I’m gone. You have to call me every day.】
A smile flickered in Feng Qinghan’s eyes as he replied with a simple “Mm.”
Over on Jing Chi’s end, he saw the single character pop up in reply. His brows curved upward in a gentle smile.
Lu Xiaozhi, his little assistant, watched Jing Chi from nearby. Even though the young man wasn’t the most perceptive, he could clearly see that Jing Chi seemed surrounded by a haze of pink bubbles.
And so, Jing Chi’s filming life on set began.
Time flew by. A month and a half passed in the blink of an eye, and the bleak autumn had given way to a cold, silent winter.
After wrapping up another day of shooting, Jing Chi took a break and immediately pulled out his phone to message Feng Qinghan.
【Brother, when are you coming to visit the set? I miss you so much.】
It took a while for a reply to come through:
【Sorry, I’ve got things to take care of.】
Feng Qinghan sat in the back of his car, a smile playing in his eyes. He gazed out the window as the vehicle drew closer and closer to Jing Chi’s filming location.
Jing Chi knew full well how insanely busy Feng Qinghan had been lately. There had even been a few days when they hadn’t managed to speak at all. If he didn’t know any better, Jing Chi might have started suspecting that the man had found himself another “little brother.”
He pouted and typed back:
【Fine, fine.】
Looking utterly dejected, Jing Chi trudged out of the set, heading toward his hotel.
That’s when Jiang Yi suddenly appeared.
“Jing Chi, come here for a sec.” She beckoned him over with a mysterious air.
Puzzled, Jing Chi followed her out.
Ever since he’d joined the crew, the System had barely shown up. There wasn’t much for it to do on his end, so it had gone into hibernation.
In truth, the System had suddenly noticed a steady stream of energy flowing into it from some unknown source. To better absorb it, the System had told Jing Chi it was hibernating.
“The investor wants to meet you,” Jiang Yi said calmly, nodding toward a black Lincoln parked not far away.
The moment Jing Chi heard that, he refused. “I’m not going.”
“Come on, just take a look. Who knows—there might be a surprise waiting.”
Jiang Yi winked at him.
Now Jing Chi sensed something was off. A suspicion bloomed in his mind.
He headed straight for the Lincoln. His assistant started to follow, but Jiang Yi grabbed his arm and held him back.
“Sister Jiang Yi, shouldn’t we go check it out?” Lu Xiaozhi asked, utterly baffled.
“Trust me. Jing Chi definitely doesn’t want us interrupting right now.”
Since Jiang Yi sounded so certain, he had no choice but to follow her lead and leave.
Jing Chi pulled open the back door and immediately spotted the man sitting inside.
A familiar smile graced the man’s features—gentle and indulgent.
Jing Chi slammed the door shut behind him and slid into the seat. In a rush of urgency, he captured those lips he’d dreamed of a thousand times.
He kissed with fervor, passing along all the chill he’d picked up outside.
The driver up front had the good sense to raise the privacy partition without a word.
Jing Chi slipped his hand under Feng Qinghan’s clothes. His cool fingertips brushed against warm skin.
Feng Qinghan shivered slightly. He caught Jing Chi’s wandering hand, his eyes clouding with a misty sheen. He drew in a soft breath, as if nipped by the cold, and murmured, “We’re still outside.”
Only then did Jing Chi withdraw his hand. He planted one more deep kiss on the man’s lips before sitting back properly.
He clasped Feng Qinghan’s hand and studied his face intently. After a long moment, he huffed. “Brother, you actually lied to me.”
Feng Qinghan took Jing Chi’s hand in his own, a gentle smile lighting up his eyes. “This isn’t called deceiving. It’s called a surprise.”
“Fine, let’s call it a surprise then.”
Jing Chi leaned his head against the man’s shoulder, nuzzling it affectionately while toying with Feng Qinghan’s fingers.
The two rode in silence the entire way, but even this quiet companionship felt utterly wonderful to them.
Jing Chi brought Feng Qinghan back to the hotel where he’d been staying lately. The man was in the bathroom taking a shower, while he had already finished and was now idly fiddling with his phone outside.
He had originally wanted to join him, but unfortunately, he’d been turned down.
Bored out of his mind, Jing Chi opened the trending searches, and one headline immediately caught his eye.
Lu Group Declares Bankruptcy#
He tapped it open and confirmed that it was indeed the same Lu Group he had in mind.
At that moment, Jing Chi finally understood what Feng Qinghan had been so busy with lately.
Right then, Feng Qinghan emerged from the bathroom, and Jing Chi set his phone aside.
“Brother, let me blow-dry your hair for you.”
With that, Jing Chi walked over, took the hairdryer from Feng Qinghan’s hand, and guided the man to sit in a chair. He tested the temperature first.
Once it felt just right, his fingers gently threaded through the man’s hair as the warm air flowed over it.
Feng Qinghan looked up, gazing at Jing Chi as he dried his hair. The tenderness in the young man’s eyes stirred him, and he couldn’t resist leaning in to kiss his chin.
That sparked everything.
Jing Chi set the hairdryer aside, lifted Feng Qinghan’s chin, and captured his lips in a deep kiss, picking up right where they’d left off in the car.
And now, nothing could stop him.
Feng Qinghan, deprived of such intimacy for so long, trembled faintly under Jing Chi’s soft touches.
Every sound was swallowed up by Jing Chi’s kisses.
Jing Chi sighed softly against the man’s ear. “Brother, it feels like I’ve never heard you say you like me.”
His lips brushed the man’s earlobe. “Brother, I want to hear you say it…”
“Say… say what?” The man’s voice came in broken gasps, laced with soft breaths.
“Say, ‘I like Jing Chi.'” Jing Chi buried his face deep in Feng Qinghan’s shoulder.
“Mm… I-I like… Jing Chi…”
