Being hunted down wasn’t the worst of it. If he were expelled from the sect because of it, and Lin Chuyun refused to leave with him…
Feng Xixing’s fingertip paused as it stroked the little black cat. He stared at the deeply sleeping little black cat, finally closing his eyes and suppressing the thoughts in his heart.
Although this Spirit Medicine was specifically effective for Heart Devils, in the matter of cultivation, no one could predict if they might develop a Heart Devil later. Preparing in advance was naturally better.
However, with Feng Xixing adding to his bid without any restraint, the competitors eventually fell silent. Only the person in the third private box on his left was still competing with Feng Xixing.
“Four hundred thousand! The guest in Box Six bids four hundred thousand!”
“Four hundred and ten thousand! Guest in Box Nine… Five hundred thousand! The guest in Box Six bids five hundred thousand! Five hundred thousand going once…”
“Five hundred and ten thousand! Box Nine… One million! The guest in Box Six bids one million Spirit Stones! One million going once, one million going twice, sold!”
Without looking up, Feng Xixing had the auction house staff place the three items on the table beside him and then dismissed them. There was nothing else he wanted among the remaining items. Seeing the auction about to end, Feng Xixing felt a slight headache.
The little black cat still hadn’t woken up. Feng Xixing was afraid that moving might wake it. But before Feng Xixing could figure out a solution, the auction had ended.
He hesitated for a moment, gently touched the little black cat’s paw, and said softly, “Shizun?”
The little black cat stirred, burying its head deeper into Feng Xixing’s palm, even flattening its cat ears. Seeing this, Feng Xixing could only smile helplessly and planned to sit a while longer, waiting for the little black cat to wake before leaving.
But just then, the Devil Qi outside the door suddenly felt strange. As if drawn by something, in a mere instant, Feng Xixing sensed he had lost control of that wisp of Devil Qi.
He frowned and used his cloak to shield the little black cat in front of him.
The door to the private box was abruptly pushed open, and simultaneously, the barrier of Spirit Qi around them dispersed. A sudden burst of noise flooded into the room. The little black cat unhappily nuzzled Feng Xixing’s palm, its tail whipping rapidly back and forth.
Feng Xixing’s expression was not good either, but he didn’t stand up. He just coldly watched the two people entering the doorway.
One was the Steward of this place, speaking anxiously. The other person hadn’t even looked at the Steward; instead, their gaze fell upon Feng Xixing, the corners of their eyes still reddened as if they had just been crying.
Doesn’t look as good as when Lin Chuyun cries.
This thought flickered through Feng Xixing’s mind, but he quickly dismissed it. He glanced coldly at Bai Linghan at the doorway, then shifted his gaze to the Steward.
The Steward felt a chill run down his back under this stare. This guest had only arrived yesterday, but the higher-ups had specifically instructed that he must be entertained with the utmost care. Yet, Bai Linghan was someone he couldn’t afford to offend either, giving him a headache.
“This Senior,” Bai Linghan began weakly, his voice carrying a hint of timidity and a nasal tone from crying, “I am Bai Linghan, a disciple of Star Point Sect. I wonder… if I might trouble you for a favor.”
Feng Xixing had no intention of even glancing at him. He merely looked coldly at the Steward. “Throw him out.”
But although his attitude was icy, he hadn’t personally moved to act. To Bai Linghan, this meant the man still felt a trace of softness towards him.
Bai Linghan gritted his teeth. Quickly dodging past the Steward’s hand, he took a few more steps into the room.
The room lights weren’t on, and the man sat in a corner, so Bai Linghan couldn’t clearly see his entire figure, only faintly sensing a formidable aura.
“Linghan means no disrespect to Senior. It’s just that the Spirit Medicine from before is truly very important to Linghan. I wonder if Senior could bear to part with it… Linghan would be endlessly grateful!” As he spoke, his eyes reddened again, as if he would burst into tears if Feng Xixing refused.
If it were someone more soft-hearted, they might have already agreed.
However…
“Get lost.” Feng Xixing looked at Bai Linghan before him, slightly narrowing his eyes, a murderous intent spreading in his heart.
Originally, he didn’t have much of an issue with Bai Linghan. Even in his past life, the one he hated was Lin Chuyun. But now, seeing Bai Linghan instantly reminded him of how much Lin Chuyun used to like this person, and a violent impulse to make Bai Linghan disappear right then and there surged madly within him.
Frightened by Feng Xixing’s undisguised killing intent, Bai Linghan stumbled back a step, his face instantly paling. He looked at Feng Xixing in panic, completely unaware of which word he’d said had offended this Senior.
“This Senior…” Bai Linghan clenched his teeth, still unwilling to give up.
The Steward behind him finally acted, grabbing Bai Linghan’s wrist and unceremoniously yanking him towards the door.
The entire Myriad Treasures Pavilion was under a Formation. Even a Nascent Soul stage cultivator couldn’t use Spirit Power here, let alone Bai Linghan, a mere Golden Core stage. What was somewhat surprising, however, was that despite looking gentle and frail, Bai Linghan had quite a bit of strength. The Steward couldn’t immediately drag him out directly.
And just then, Feng Xixing suddenly sensed that the little black cat on his knees seemed to have stirred.
Feng Xixing thought the little black cat had been woken up by the noise and was getting annoyed. He was just about to soothe its fur when he felt the weight on his lap suddenly change.
The fur gripping his wrist turned smooth. The soft down he’d just been feeling vanished. Sensing the weight in his hand shifting backward, Feng Xixing instinctively pulled back slightly, and felt something collide heavily against him.
A low yelp of pain suddenly sounded in the room.
“Ugh…”
Both people entangled in the struggle paused. Bai Linghan seized the chance to quickly break free from the Steward’s grasp, but his gaze also involuntarily turned towards the Senior’s direction.
He saw the previously cold-aura’d Senior suddenly soften, the whole person seeming somewhat dazed, staring down at what was in his arms.
Because the Senior wore a black cloak, Bai Linghan couldn’t see what was there.
“Senior…?” Bai Linghan hesitantly took a step forward but saw the man suddenly look up, his eyes staring at him with a bone-chilling coldness.
A blast of Spirit Power was mercilessly swung towards him. Caught off guard, Bai Linghan was pushed back several steps, crashing directly into the door frame. He cried out in pain, tears immediately spilling over.
Unfortunately, no one in this room would soften so easily.
The Steward was already extremely fed up with Bai Linghan. Seeing this, he didn’t care about anything else and directly dragged the man out the door. Bai Linghan only had time to look up, catching a final glimpse inside the room.
He saw that the front of the Senior’s cloak seemed to shift, as if someone had been sleeping beneath it earlier.
…
“Ugh… it hurts, it hurts.” Lin Chuyun rubbed the top of his head, his whole person a bit dazed from the impact. It took him a moment to recover. He looked at the stunned Feng Xixing before him. “Hm? Disciple, what’s wrong with you?”
Only after speaking did he realize he had turned back into a human. But Lin Chuyun wasn’t too concerned. He estimated it was just caused by eating too much of that medicine yesterday; things would probably return to normal once the effects wore off.
Feng Xixing slowly came back to his senses, but his gaze was erratic, refusing to land on Lin Chuyun no matter what. “Shi… Shizun.”
Lin Chuyun seemed to have seen something unbelievable. He leaned closer, somewhat surprised, and blinked. “Disciple, why is your face red?”
“…” Feng Xixing felt the earlier faint herbal fragrance grow even more intense with Lin Chuyun’s proximity. The heat at the tips of his ears grew worse. “I-It’s nothing. Did Shizun sleep well?”
Lin Chuyun looked at him suspiciously, reached out to feel his forehead, and only after confirming his little disciple wasn’t sick or having a fever did he sigh. “I suppose I slept well enough.”
It was just a bit noisy in the middle.
He turned his head, looking around, and realized he was still in the private box of the Auction House. But the auction stage below no longer had a host running things; clearly, the auction had concluded.
“It’s already over?” Lin Chuyun felt somewhat embarrassed. “Why didn’t you wake your teacher?”
Feng Xixing paused, then said quietly, “Xixing wanted to let Shizun sleep a little longer.”
What an obedient disciple, Lin Chuyun couldn’t help but sigh.
He stretched his arms wide in a big yawn, then… looked down at where he was sitting, looked at Feng Xixing, and finally, as if burned, jumped off Feng Xixing’s lap at lightning speed.
Lin Chuyun’s ears also began to burn, with a tendency to spread towards his cheeks. He had actually just been sitting in Feng Xixing’s arms, talking to him for so long!
This couldn’t be blamed on Lin Chuyun. It was mainly because when he was a cat, he was always held in Feng Xixing’s arms. He was so used to seeing his disciple from this angle that even though he’d suddenly transformed back into a human, his awareness hadn’t quite switched over yet.
“Ahem,” Lin Chuyun paused, quickly changing the subject. “Let’s go.”
Since he was in human form now, there was no need for his disciple to carry him back.
But Feng Xixing spoke up, stopping Lin Chuyun. His expression was a mixture of complexity and conflict.
Lin Chuyun looked at his disciple blankly. At first, he didn’t realize what was wrong. When Feng Xixing stood up, Lin Chuyun’s expression suddenly froze.
Lin Chuyun lifted… tilted his head up, looking at Feng Xixing, then looked down at himself. Finally, his entire being went into a daze.
“Disciple, did your teacher… shrink?”
Feng Xixing fell silent. Finally, he cleared his throat lightly but instead produced a mirror, placing it before Lin Chuyun.
Lin Chuyun tremblingly took the mirror. After only a glance, the mirror slipped from his grasp.
The Lin Chuyun in the mirror was noticeably more youthful than before, looking at most a little over ten years old. Of course, shrinking wasn’t what hit Lin Chuyun the hardest. The most important thing was, why did he see a pair of cat ears on top of his head?!
Fluffy, standing upright, and they could swivel back and forth?!
Lin Chuyun dazedly reached up and touched the cat ears on his head. An immediate tingling sensation shot from the tips of his ears, making him snatch his hand back in fright.
He looked down again at his clearly diminished height. His whole person was utterly devastated. Even the cat ears on his head flattened sideways like airplane wings in fright.
Feng Xixing’s fingertips abruptly dug into his own sleeve. He sucked in a sharp breath.
S-So badly wants to touch them.
Smol cat boy shizun!! I sense lots of meng in the next chapters (*^▽^*)
