Jian Bumian sensed someone approaching from behind. He reacted quickly and turned around, but he was still a beat too slow.
The figure that had appeared behind him had already walked unhurriedly to stand before him. A thick, heavy shadow completely engulfed Jian Bumian.
It was a very tall man.
His long silver hair was casually tied back, draping smoothly down his back like a length of silken satin.
His long, narrow eyes were a rare blood-red. His skin was pale, and his features were so flawlessly handsome one could find no fault, only marveling at the Creator’s favoritism when sculpting him.
He was dressed in a pale white suit, tall and form-fitting. His entire person was like a beautiful, perfect statue standing in a divine hall.
He narrowed his eyes, sizing up the youth who had suddenly barged into his territory.
Jian Bumian froze. He hadn’t expected the Target NPC to appear in such a sudden, unprepared-for manner.
A turn-around-and-find-love scenario?
To be precise, he had finally encountered the “food” he’d been yearning for.
At this thought, a mysterious, brilliant star-blue, as if falling into a boundless ocean, rapidly filled his eyes.
He hadn’t expected it to be so sudden…
This time, he simply couldn’t control his excitement. The rims of his ears flushed red, and the tip of his tongue unconsciously licked the corner of his lips.
…Can’t rush this.
The most delicious food should be savored slowly.
It wouldn’t be good to accidentally scare the food away.
Jian Bumian controlled his reason. He forcefully suppressed the urge to release his power and devour the Malicious Ghost. He took a step back and bowed slightly to the ghost before him, pretending to be just an ordinary Player.
“Sir, hello. I am the Attendant arranged for you by the Acrobatic Troupe.”
He was dressed in a fine black Tailcoat. His features were handsome and gentle, his voice respectful. His bowing posture was elegant and standard. His entire being held no threat whatsoever.
He truly looked like one… an innocent, pretty little attendant, completely unaware of his situation, the kind one could order around and bully at will.
Just then, hurried, heavy footsteps sounded in the Hallway, rapidly approaching where Jian Bumian stood.
The Acrobatic Troupe Leader NPC had arrived.
It ran over, panting heavily. Its gaunt, skeletal frame looked like it could snap at any moment. It stopped before the Malicious Ghost, staring at him. Its voice trembled, laced with a primal Fear and timidity from the depths of its Soul.
“Sir, the gourmet feast we prepared for you isn’t ready yet. The chef hasn’t finished. Could you wait a little longer?”
It remembered that this Noble Guest’s Letter had specifically mentioned a desire for many delicacies, in addition to needing an Attendant.
The handsome Malicious Ghost frowned slightly. A few traces of confusion flickered in his icy red eyes.
“I did not request a meal.”
His voice was magnetic, low and husky, like a costly, weighty double bass, or a fine, richly red velvet carpet in the dark of night. It instilled a deep-seated, innate fear, a feeling that one might accidentally fall to their knees before him.
The Acrobatic Troupe Leader suppressed its Fear, took a deep breath, and said cautiously, “But, in your Letter, wasn’t it specifically requested to have plump Matsutake mushroom foie gras, slightly smelly truffles, rich cod roe caviar, golden-fried crepes, duck confit with vanilla sauce…”
“And that you needed a personal Attendant with an unblemished body.”
It didn’t dare say anything else, afraid of angering this Noble Guest with a wrong word. It could only recite the contents of the Guest’s Letter verbatim.
Jian Bumian: “…………”
The NPCs in this Instance were too intelligent. They had actually recorded the nonsense he’d made up, word for word.
He felt an inexplicable sense of shame…
The Bullet Comments in the Livestream Room were scrolling wildly.
【Damn, I just knew Mianmian was making that up back then!! Mianmian is too bold!】
【Busted. I wonder if the Malicious Ghost will be angry when it learns the truth, and if it will just use Mianmian as an attendant on the spot ♂】
【Mianmian was really too bold back then, but it’s understandable. He was trying to survive.】
【Sob, I hope the Noble Guest doesn’t punish wifey QAQ】
Jian Bumian’s eyelids kept twitching nervously. A long-forgotten, unfamiliar sense of unease rose within him.
But what bothered him more was the raging, surging hunger inside him. Not just his stomach, but his Soul was also screaming with hunger.
He wanted to devour the Malicious Ghost before him.
Preferably in one gulp, leaving not a single scrap behind, to fill himself up completely.
The Acrobatic Troupe Leader still didn’t know the content it recited was entirely fabricated. It assumed the Guest was dissatisfied with the delayed food or the Attendant’s attitude. “Sir, if any aspect of the service is unsatisfactory, please feel free to voice it.”
The Silver-haired Man didn’t get angry immediately. He sat on the sofa by the glass window, his long legs, tightly wrapped by his suit trousers, elegantly crossed. His leather shoes were gleaming.
His voice held no emotional fluctuation, cold as an ice cellar, sending chills down one’s spine. “The content in my Letter was not what you just said.”
Hearing this, the Acrobatic Troupe Leader instantly realized what had happened.
It was Jian Bumian who had read the Letter to it! It was obvious Jian Bumian had deliberately read it wrong!
Its eyes widened instantly, its expression rapidly filling with rage. It turned around and glared viciously at Jian Bumian, its voice becoming piercing and grating:
“You read that letter for me! You—You—! You dared to deceive me!!! You!”
This was the first time it had ever been deceived and insulted by an Acrobat! And on such an important matter!
Jian Bumian: “…………”
He hadn’t expected to be exposed so quickly.
He lowered his head, staring at the tips of his shoes. The tips of his ears were bright red. Being scolded by the Acrobatic Troupe Leader made him feel a bit embarrassed.
After all, this was his first time telling a lie. He had thin skin.
The Acrobatic Troupe Leader moved towards Jian Bumian with incredible speed, shrieking piercingly, “I will make your life worse than death! Worse than death!”
It was wondering what the cruelest way to punish this little Acrobat would be, but it seemed no matter how he was killed, it wouldn’t ease its rage.
It reached out a withered, grayish-white claw towards the youth’s slender, fragile neck, intending to squeeze it tightly and break it.
Jian Bumian was a little stunned by the Acrobatic Troupe Leader’s extreme reaction. His innocent, fair face showed a bewildered emotion, his caramel-colored eyes were moist, the corners of his eyes a little red.
He hadn’t meant to make up that Letter back then.
He had originally planned to read the Letter properly and help the dear Acrobatic Troupe Leader. But who knew, he couldn’t read the Writing on the Letter at all.
And he couldn’t bear to tell the Acrobatic Troupe Leader such a cruel truth.
In this Instance, he was just an illiterate, enthusiastic Little Illiterate. What wrong had he done?
The Malicious Ghost shifted his gaze, his cold eyes landing on the youth in the corner, who looked utterly bewildered.
The youth was very beautiful, delicate and pitiful, like a fragile, exquisite vase, the kind that looked very easy to bully.
The handsome Malicious Ghost narrowed his eyes, studying Jian Bumian with considerable interest, as if sizing up a soft, weak animal cub.
A moment passed.
“Release him.”
The Silver-haired Man’s thin lips parted slightly, the corner of his mouth curving into a strange, ghost-like smile. The smile slowly widened. “Such a disobedient little liar… I shall punish him myself.”
