Chapter 71: Cub’s POV Extra [Extra]
The baby’s nickname was Bai Tuantuan, and his full name was Bai Yu’an.
Because he was born on a snowy day, Tuantuan’s favorite season was winter, and his favorite color was white.
Perhaps because he had heard his father unconsciously mutter “so ugly” when he was born, Tuantuan had held his breath and was determined to prove himself.
When he was a few months old, he had grown into a little pearl, fair and tender, completely washing away the bad reputation of being a “red, ugly meatball.”
His skin was fair, and his two eyes were round and large, like black grapes, completely inheriting the good looks of his father and papa.
When he stared at people, his long, thick lashes would flutter like a fan, even cuter than a doll.
This was Tuantuan’s proudest achievement before he turned three, because even his godfather and god-daddy, who disliked children, would praise him for having a proper nose and eyes.
Tuantuan had a quiet personality, just like when he was in his father’s belly. He was quiet and didn’t make a fuss.
He liked being held by his father the most. When he smelled his father’s scent, he would giggle.
His two chubby little hands would reach out to grab his father’s white hair, trying to put it in his mouth to taste. When he couldn’t, he would cry out.
Occasionally, when he was hungry or needed to pee, he would just blink his eyes, holding back his cries, tears welling up in his eyes.
At these times, Oz, who was always by Tuantuan’s side, would be the first to bark, letting his father and papa know to come and see him.
Tuantuan had three family members: his father, his papa, and his brother Oz.
Brother Oz was a Doberman and also Tuantuan’s best friend. He would eat with Tuantuan, play with toys, and sleep with him every night. When Tuantuan couldn’t get up in the morning, he would even jump on the bed and nudge Tuantuan’s quilt.
Papa would make milk for Tuantuan, bathe him, and coax him to sleep. Papa had also given Tuantuan many, many toys, and also Tuantuan’s favorite big airplane.
But Tuantuan liked his father the most. His father was different from Tuantuan, papa, Grandma Chen, or his god-daddy.
Because he had white hair like in a fairy tale, pink eyes, and skin whiter than snow. When he smiled, he was so gentle, even more beautiful than Snow White.
Sleeping in his father’s arms was like sleeping in a cloud, so sweet and comfortable.
The night before Tuantuan started kindergarten, it was papa’s turn to read him a story and coax him to sleep.
Papa told him the story of Snow White and gently stroked his head, telling him that Tuantuan’s father was different from others, that he was a beautiful angel.
When he came down to earth, he fell in love with papa, and in order to bring Tuantuan into this world, he had used up all his magic and couldn’t change back into a human.
“I know. Daddy is the best,” Tuantuan said, raising his little fist and waving it proudly in front of papa, his voice milky. “When I was in heaven, many babies liked Daddy and wanted to be his child.”
“But in the end, Daddy chose me. Tuantuan is so happy, even happier than eating honey cake.”
Tuantuan had a sweet smile on his face, the two little dimples by his lips just like his father’s.
Pei Tingyu smiled and closed the fairy tale book, placing it on the bedside table, only taking Tuantuan’s words as a child’s joke.
He tucked Tuantuan’s quilt in, lowered his head, and kissed the baby’s forehead, saying warmly, “Goodnight, Tuantuan. Daddy and Papa both love you.”
“Ah-ha—” Tuantuan rubbed his eyes, let out a yawn, and replied in a small voice, “Goodbye, Papa. Papa, remember to tell Daddy that Tuantuan loves you too.”
“Alright.” The man turned off the overhead light, gently closed the door, and the little sun, emitting a faint, gentle light, rotated on the ceiling, casting a soft glow.
Tuantuan clutched the corner of the quilt. Under the nightlight, the corners of his mouth curved up, and he hugged the rabbit baby toy in his arms, falling into a sweet sleep.
Oz wagged his tail, lay down on the small rug by the bed, and also fell asleep.
Starting kindergarten meant being separated from his two fathers. Tuantuan was a little unaccustomed at first and shyly hid outside the crowd.
When it was time to play, he would rather sneak into the backyard alone to look at the kindergarten’s apple tree than take the initiative to talk to his peers.
After school, Tuantuan would rush into his father’s arms, wait for his father to wipe his sweat, and then pour out all the words he had been holding in all day, like pouring out beans.
If both his father and papa hadn’t come back, Tuantuan would sit on the steps in front of the door with Oz, obediently holding a bowl of fruit, and wait while he ate.
Later, Tuantuan made new friends at kindergarten.
Every day, without Oz having to nudge his little short legs to urge him, he would finish his breakfast, put on his little schoolbag, say goodbye to his two fathers, kiss Brother Oz’s head, and rush to the door excitedly.
One day after school, Tuantuan’s eyes were shining with excitement. He ran up to the third floor, slipped in through the never-closed door, and jumped in front of his two fathers.
Tuantuan was so happy that he didn’t notice the flustered and embarrassed expression on his father’s face as he had just broken free from papa’s embrace.
He smiled sweetly and said mysteriously, “The teacher taught us a new word today. Father is ‘daddy’.”
“Tuantuan found out that the teacher was wrong. Because Tuantuan heard Daddy call Father ‘daddy’ outside the study last time.”
Bai Yan’s face suddenly turned red, and he glared at Pei Tingyu with his clear eyes.
Pei Tingyu coughed into his hand and quickly bent down, picking up the baby into his arms. As he coaxed him, he walked out of the study. “Tuantuan is Yu’an’s nickname, right?”
“Right.” Tuantuan nodded and added in a soft, glutinous voice, “Because Daddy said that when Tuantuan was just born, he looked like a little meatball rolled up in a ball. So he named me Tuantuan.”
Pei Tingyu: “But the name Tuantuan doesn’t just represent Yu’an. It also represents Tuantuan’s airplane and yacht. Does baby remember the Tuantuan airplane we took to the island last time?”
“I remember! Tuantuan liked it so much. It even had Tuantuan’s picture on it.”
Tuantuan’s eyes lit up, and he understood papa’s meaning. “Daddy calling Father ‘daddy’ doesn’t mean he’s calling him papa like Tuantuan does.”
“Right. Our Tuantuan is so smart.” Pei Tingyu laughed and kissed Tuantuan’s cheek.
“Grandma Chen made Tuantuan’s favorite milk candy. Does Tuantuan want some?”
“Okay, Tuantuan wants some… Mmm, I can’t eat too much. I have to leave some for Daddy.”
After finally coaxing Tuantuan, Pei Tingyu went upstairs to coax his precious.
Bai Yan had tidied up the files that had just been knocked over, a faint red still on the corners of his eyes and brows.
Being pulled back into his lover’s arms, Bai Yan looked up and asked, “Tuantuan didn’t misunderstand, did he?”
Pei Tingyu kissed the soft hair on his precious’s head and comforted him softly, “With me here, how could anything happen?”
“It’s all your fault. It’s the weekend, and it’s daytime. I said Tuantuan might come upstairs, and that we shouldn’t be in the study, but you insisted…”
Bai Yan lay on his husband’s chest, poking the man’s bulging chest muscles as he complained in a small voice.
These past few years, the Omega had been raised to be more and more noble, and his accusations were righteous.
He had completely forgotten who it was that day who had been teased until he trembled, who had grabbed the man’s collar and, like a flower branch trembling, had called out “daddy, daddy.”
A low chuckle escaped Pei Tingyu’s throat. He leaned close to his lover’s ear and coaxed, “Alright, alright, my precious. It’s all my fault. Can you forgive me?”
“My rut is next week. Tuantuan just said he misses his godfather. We’ll send him over to Wen Yue and Old Qin.”
“We’ll go to Yushui Court. My precious can punish me however you want, okay?”
Bai Yan was speechless.
The young man glared at him reproachfully. Is this a punishment or a reward?
