Chapter 72: Rut Extra [Extra]
During his husband’s last rut, Bai Yan had been at a seminar abroad.
Originally, Bai Yan had planned it well. He would return to Yǎyuán after the seminar, and there would still be some time before his husband’s rut.
But who knew there would be a sudden change of plans? The conference was unexpectedly postponed by half a month.
Bai Yan, as the main speaker, could not be absent, which meant he couldn’t rush back to Yǎyuán in time. The man had to get through his rut with suppressants.
Ever since he had returned from studying abroad and Tuantuan was born, the two of them had never been apart during their ruts and heats.
Although Pei Tingyu was gentle and understanding in their video calls, telling Bai Yan to take care of himself and not to worry about things at home, that he would be with Tuantuan, when he came back and saw the needle marks on his husband’s arm, Bai Yan still felt guilty and heartbroken.
This time, he had requested leave in advance, sent Tuantuan to Brother Wen Yue’s house, and had even unwrapped a few of Jiang Zhiyi’s company’s new products as a surprise for his husband.
The pink, sheer qipao was made of a light and soft fabric that tore easily. The tattered remnants of the fabric were scattered all over the floor.
From the kitchen island, to the leather sofa in the living room, to the floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the river, and finally, to the large bed in the bedroom.
Saturated with pheromones and an unknown fluid, the fabric exuded a racy, sweet, and cloying scent, so captivating it would haunt one’s dreams, making one sink into it, unwilling to wake.
The Alpha in his rut was exceptionally patient, having learned some new tricks from somewhere.
By the end, Bai Yan couldn’t even tell if he was in a dream or in reality, being coaxed into saying those blush-inducing, heart-pounding words over and over again.
His voice had become hoarse from overuse, uncontrollably tinged with a rasp.
When the rain had stopped and the clouds had cleared, and the sky was clear again.
Bai Yan slowly woke up, unable to tell what day or time it was.
He was leaning against the man’s strong, hot chest, with an arm still draped over his waist. Bai Yan moved his leg, his body clean and fresh.
He didn’t know which time in the bathroom, cough, his husband had cleaned him up.
The Omega snuggled in his embrace, his reason slowly returning.
The indulgence had lasted for too long, and Bai Yan’s throat was a little dry.
The husband beside him was still deep in his dreams. Bai Yan pressed his lips together and gently moved the arm on his waist.
He threw back a corner of the quilt, put on the clean robe that was folded on the bedside table, and tiptoed out of the room to get some water.
He didn’t know if it was morning or afternoon, but the sun was shining brightly on the world.
The sunlight sprinkled on the sparkling surface of the river and also on the delicate skin of the person by the window.
An endless expanse of snow-white spread out, with faint plum blossoms blooming along the way, carrying a hazy, dark fragrance, and disappearing into a no-man’s-land.
The cool river breeze blew in from the window, and the young man’s hair was messed up, revealing a few fresh bite marks on the fair nape of his neck.
The orange blossom pheromones on him were so strong that they completely covered his original jasmine scent.
You didn’t need to look to know what a wonderful night he had had these past few days.
The river breeze completely woke his sleeping reason. Bai Yan drank the glass of water in one go, and the heat in his throat was finally relieved.
He stood by the window for a while longer. The phone on the coffee table suddenly vibrated twice.
Bai Yan walked over in his cotton slippers and glanced at it. It was his husband’s phone, with a message popping up.
Because it hadn’t been used for a long time, the phone’s battery was less than 10%. It had automatically turned off airplane mode, and the accumulated messages had also popped up.
Worried that there was a problem at the company, Bai Yan, without thinking, directly unlocked it with his face.
After being married to his husband for many years, the Alpha’s phone had never been protected from him. The phone’s password had always been a combination of both of theirs.
The black screen lit up, and a report suddenly popped up. Seeing the contents, Bai Yan’s eyes instantly widened in a daze.
“Patient Alpha Pei Tingyu suffers from pheromone disorder. The condition is currently well-controlled and has returned to its original level after treatment.”
“After testing, the partner Omega Bai Yan’s pheromones are still the only treatment…”
“Due to the sudden onset of the condition this time, it is recommended that the patient stop using suppressants during future ruts.”
With a clatter, the phone, out of battery, went dark again and fell from Bai Yan’s hand onto the carpet.
Bai Yan’s wrist trembled, his fingertips so numb he didn’t even have the strength to pick up the phone.
A mist filled his eyes, his vision blurred. Tears welled up uncontrollably and, the next second, rolled down his cheeks, drop by drop.
When did this happen? Wasn’t my husband’s pheromone disorder cured a long time ago?
It said that his pheromones are the only way to treat his husband.
My husband hid it so well. He hadn’t noticed at all!
During his last rut, he hadn’t been able to come back. How much pain must his husband have been in, being sick at home alone?
But when he video-called him, he would still gently comfort him in return.
He’s a completely incompetent lover.
Bai Yan covered his mouth and sobbed, his heart as if a piece of flesh had been suddenly gouged out, a deep, bone-chilling pain sweeping through his entire body.
It was as if all his strength had been instantly drained. His eyes were red, and he let the tears slide down his cheeks, falling dazedly onto the sofa.
“My precious is awake. Are you hungry? Do you want some pasta? I’ll go—”
Footsteps came from the corridor. The man’s sated and pleased voice was only half-spoken.
The rest of his words, upon meeting Bai Yan’s tear-streaked face, were stuck in his throat, and he couldn’t say them anymore.
“Xian sheng?” Bai Yan’s shoulders shook. His whole person was trembling unconsciously as he asked in a trembling voice, “Your pheromone disorder, only my pheromones are effective.”
“Why didn’t you tell me? Aren’t we the most intimate lovers?”
He spoke, each word like a drop of blood. “I worry about you too. I’m scared too.”
The thought of what might happen to his husband made his heart ache as if it were being cut by a knife, and he trembled with fear.
In places he didn’t even know about, how much had his husband suffered?
The Omega’s eyes were bloodshot, his face flushed red, and even his crying voice was hoarse. Who knew how long he had been crying alone?
An unspeakable panic washed over him. Pei Tingyu was terrified and completely lost his reason.
The man strode over, knelt on the carpet, and wrapped his large hands around the back of Bai Yan’s neck, pulling him deep into his embrace.
“Yanyan, I’m sorry. It’s my fault. I didn’t want you to worry, so I deliberately hid it from you.”
“I’ve already been to Erya for a check-up. I’m fine. The director said that using suppressants occasionally won’t be a problem.”
Bai Yan’s heart was both sour and pained. Not only was he angry because his husband had deliberately hidden it from him, but he was also angry with himself for not noticing.
His thoughts were a tangled mess, and he couldn’t sort them out. He subconsciously pushed against the man’s chest, wanting to escape.
But the Alpha held his waist tightly, not letting go no matter how he hit him.
Bai Yan couldn’t bring himself to use force and could only smear his tears all over his husband’s robe.
Feeling his precious in his arms gradually quiet down, Pei Tingyu patted his lover’s back to soothe him and, bit by bit, told him everything about his condition.
“I only hid this one thing from my precious. My precious can punish me however you want. Don’t be sad anymore, okay?”
The young man still couldn’t stop sobbing. He sat up from the man’s chest, his eyes filled with tears, and looked up, asking, “Then why… didn’t you tell me?”
The man’s large palm carefully cupped his precious’s face, his eyes welling up with the same heat.
He sighed and said slowly, “My precious, I am nine years older than you, after all. You are still young. I don’t want to be your weakness.”
A smile touched Pei Tingyu’s lips. “I hope my precious will always be without burdens, and do what you truly love.”
The Alpha’s gaze was fixed on him, the cherish in it making Bai Yan want to cry again.
This was perhaps the first time his husband had shown his vulnerability in front of him.
So, xian sheng, you also have things you’re afraid of?
The tears welling up in his eyes were precarious and finally gave way.
Bai Yan looked back at his lover, letting the bitter tears flow into his mouth, and said slowly, word by word, “But, xian sheng, you are also my treasure. You are my most beloved existence.”
“When you hurt your body, you are also hurting me.”
“It won’t happen again. It will never happen again.” The man’s heart was filled with a sour bitterness. With red eyes, he kissed away the young man’s tears and hugged his precious again.
The airtight scent of orange blossom completely enveloped Bai Yan. Bai Yan wrapped his arms around the man’s back and nuzzled him with his soft hair.
He could no longer be angry. He buried his face in the man’s chest and said in a muffled voice, “I will supervise you properly in the future.”
“You are not allowed to hide anything from me in the name of loving me, nor are you allowed to do anything to hurt yourself again.”
“Alright, let my precious supervise me for a lifetime, okay?”
Bai Yan was speechless.
That would be a reward again.
Bai Yan deliberately snorted. “We’ll see how you behave. Also, tonight, and next week, and the week after that, I will be sleeping with Tuantuan.”
Pei Tingyu smiled bitterly. “As you command, my precious.”
The next day, when Tuantuan came home from kindergarten, he was surprised to find that both his daddy and papa were back!
Tuantuan kicked his two little short legs and wiggled his way onto his father’s lap.
His meatball-like little hands fumbled in his little schoolbag and finally found the airplane model he had made in class today, which he enthusiastically showed to his daddy and papa.
It had been a long time since he had seen his baby, and Bai Yan also missed Tuantuan very much.
He held the child in his arms, kissed Tuantuan’s pink cheeks, and asked him if he had had a good time at his godfather’s house these past few days, and if he had been naughty.
Tuantuan put down the model airplane, wrapped his arms around his father’s neck, and giggled.
He said he had had a great time, and that his godfather’s house had many cats and dogs.
His godfather smelled so good, just like his father, and he had also played with blocks with him and slept with him at night.
But Uncle Qin wasn’t very happy, probably because their An’an dog had pooped in Uncle Qin’s study again.
Even though he wasn’t happy, Uncle Qin had still made him fried little meatballs.
Although Uncle Qin had burned a lot of them, and the level was completely incomparable to papa’s, Tuantuan hadn’t said anything and had obediently eaten all the little meatballs that weren’t burned.
Tuantuan thought for a moment and then added seriously that Tuantuan was very well-behaved. He hadn’t been naughty at all, and he had even helped his godfather and Uncle Qin clean up the dog poop.
Tuantuan’s serious expression was so cute. Bai Yan couldn’t help but give Tuantuan’s little face a couple more kisses.
It had been a long time since he had seen his two fathers, and Tuantuan was very clingy to his father today, becoming his little tail.
After dinner, he still didn’t want to go back to his room. He specially held Brother Oz’s hand and asked his daddy and papa to take them for a walk.
He didn’t know yet that this week and next week were his lucky days. Without him having to say it, his father would come to sleep with him every night.
He also didn’t know that his papa, every night, would be alone in his empty room, hugging a rabbit toy, sighing forlornly, and sinking into a bitter dream.
It wasn’t until papa received the secret weapon from Uncle Jiang Zhiyi that he would have a chance to sleep with his father again.
Sigh, these are the troubles of adults.
Tuantuan should just be a happy little baby.
