Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

The Little Mermaid Fell for the Jiaoren 54

Chapter 54: Little Conch Shell

Early the next morning, the various sizes that had been purchased last night were delivered to District A. After the mechanical butler received them and finished washing them, they were all sent to Deng Xi’s room.

When Deng Xi woke up in the morning, he didn’t see the little mute. He frantically pulled his pants back on. After they were loosely piled on his hips and he had just put them on, he heard a knock on the door.

The little merman instantly and obediently raised his head and greeted him with some guilt, “Good morning, Little Mute.”

Si Jisheng glanced at Deng Xi, who was wearing his pants backwards. He pretended not to have noticed. “Morning.”

The slightly smaller undergarments and the clothes to be worn out today were placed on the bed.

“Try on which one fits, and then change your clothes yourself.” Si Jisheng left the room to prepare today’s breakfast.

He quickly found the size that fit Deng Xi. He reluctantly took off his whale pajamas and obediently changed his clothes.

The sales assistant had already demonstrated once yesterday, teaching Deng Xi how to wear these clothes. But because his legs had no strength, it still took a lot of time.

Si Jisheng pushed the door open again and, at a glance, saw Deng Xi sitting obediently in the middle of the quilt. A soft, light blue, round-necked T-shirt, beige overalls, long white socks that reached his calves, and his curly golden hair was scattered messily behind him.

The sunlight from outside the window shone in, bathing the golden-haired youth on the white bed in a soft light. Si Jisheng was in a daze for a moment before he was called back by Deng Xi. He held up a small leather band. “Little Mute, help me.”

The small leather band circled his golden hair and was loosely wrapped around twice.

Si Jisheng bent down. “Alright.”

Deng Xi held onto the little mute’s shoulders and, bit by bit, stood up and stepped into the prepared shoes.

Si Jisheng half-squatted down, his silver eyes lowered, and carefully tied the straps on the shoes.

Today, he had contacted Dr. Li in advance to come and modify the treatment plan. Deng Xi was in the lounge with Bunny, attending class again.

They were sitting cross-legged on the floor, leaning against each other. Bunny’s lop ears were rubbing against Deng Xi’s arm, soft and fluffy.

Deng Xi, who had difficulty concentrating in the first place, started to daydream. “Can I touch your ears?”

Bunny, who was listening attentively to the lecture, nodded perfunctorily.

Deng Xi was like the bad student in the class, not listening to the lecture and even disturbing his deskmate. He pinched the tip of Bunny’s ear, rubbed his fluff, and asked curiously, “Why do you have ears today?”

Only then did Bunny move his gaze away from the blackboard on the blue screen. “Because my mom said that I don’t have to go to the treatment center and stay with those little brats anymore.”

He could always play with this cute big brother. It was just that the big brother never listened to the lecture properly and was not obedient at all.

But Bunny still liked to play with the big brother very much and was willing to let the big brother touch his drooping ears, which no one else except his mother was allowed to touch.

Bunny said seriously, “My mom said that I don’t have to take medicine today, and no one else will see.”

Deng Xi thought of something. He looked around and said in a small voice, “I have a way to make Bunny’s ears retract without taking medicine.”

Bunny was a little disbelieving. “Big brother, let’s just listen to the lecture.”

Deng Xi blinked. “Doesn’t Bunny want to know?”

Bunny looked at the blue screen but still couldn’t help but be curious. “Just for a little while.”

He would only play with the big brother for a little while, and then he would listen to the lecture seriously!

The course on the blue screen was paused.

The early morning light from outside the French windows illuminated the room. The giant aquarium reflected a wavy light and shadow. The breeze blew the curtains, and the light and shadow also swayed gently.

A light tune quickly formed in Deng Xi’s mind, and he hummed it out leisurely, occasionally interspersed with a few merman’s low murmurs that Bunny couldn’t understand.

The beautiful melody drilled into his mental sea, and thousands of mental threads couldn’t help but stretch out with the melody. The knotted mental threads slowly loosened.

Bunny couldn’t help but be immersed in it. It was like the first ray of sunlight at sunrise, dispelling the darkness and cold, waking up all things, warm and comfortable.

When he opened his eyes again.

The heavy, drooping feeling on his ears had disappeared.

His ears had really disappeared!

Bunny’s eyes widened in pleasant surprise. “Really, really! Big brother is so amazing!!!”

An alien with a not-so-strong mental sea could not freely control the atavistic and alienated organs on his body. Bunny could only rely on taking medicine every day to suppress the atavistic genes and prevent the organs from alienating.

The frequency of an ordinary alien’s frenzy was not high. Their mental sea was too weak, but after going berserk, they would all turn into their complete animal form.

Regardless of whether they had any attack power, this type of alien would be ostracized by the public. So every time he went out, Bunny had to take medicine.

Half a song’s time.

Deng Xi counted on his fingers. It was so effective, and his song was really useful!

Although the little mute did not agree to let him experiment with his song, it was impossible for the little mute to be by his side every time he wanted to sing. Such a treatment efficiency was simply too low.

And singing was not a difficult matter.

Deng Xi was not willing to sing for bad people, but he was willing to sing for the little mute, for Bunny, and for many, many kind humans.

Even without the company of the ocean, Deng Xi extended his fingertip, touched the light that had passed through the clouds and shone beside him, which was still exceptionally clear, and curved his eyelids.

But he still had the sky.

The deep blue ocean and the light blue sky filled Deng Xi’s entire childhood memories. He liked to lie on the reef, basking in the warm sun, his tail soaked in the ocean, and his hand, which was hanging down from the reef, would stir the surface of the sea. If he was lucky, he would run into a few stupid fish that would swim to the surface and sunbathe with him.

But after playing with them for a long time, Deng Xi would still pretend not to have seen them and let these stupid fish go, without eating them.

More often than not, Deng Xi would hum a song to himself. Besides the ocean and the sky, there were no other audiences.

Deng Xi’s lips curled up. “I can sing for Bunny every day.”

Bunny asked timidly, “But won’t big brother be very tired?”

Just like he had to do his homework every day.

Deng Xi “hmm”-ed. “It’s okay. It only takes a few minutes to sing a song, but Bunny won’t be in pain anymore. It’s worth it, isn’t it?”

Bunny thought for a moment and shook his head. “Although I also want to hear big brother sing every day, I don’t want big brother to be so tired.”

“So,” Bunny opened the recording interface of his comm, “I’ll record it, so I can listen to it every day!”

“Can big brother sing it again?”

Deng Xi asked curiously, “Record it?”

Bunny said like a little adult, “It’s to store the sound.”

Deng Xi still didn’t understand, but he sang it again.

After Bunny had played the recorded song for Deng Xi to listen to, Deng Xi understood. “So magical.”

His blue eyes lit up slightly. Then he could also record it when he wanted to sing and let the little mute listen to it!

He just didn’t know if it would be useful.

Deng Xi asked curiously, “When Bunny listens to the recording, does it feel the same as the first time?”

Bunny nodded his head. “Yes!”

Deng Xi opened the shopping mall.

He thought of what gift to give to the little mute.

Deng Xi woke up Smart Brain and had it help him search for the word “recording.”

Bunny watched with the big brother.

In the interstellar age, recording equipment was varied and very common. There were all kinds of dolls and small decorations. Deng Xi looked for a long time but was not satisfied.

Bunny pointed at a mecha figurine. “This is so cool!”

Deng Xi couldn’t appreciate the dark and gloomy thing. He “hmm”-ed twice and did not give any more opinions.

Under the blackboard displayed on the blue screen, Deng Xi and Bunny played with the comm for nearly an hour, browsing through the shopping mall. Bunny was even a little aesthetically fatigued. “What does big brother want to buy?”

Deng Xi said softly, “I want to buy a small conch shell.” He curved his eyelids. “I want to give it to someone who accidentally broke the last small conch shell and then very, very stupidly glued the pieces back together.”

Bunny half-understood.

Smart Brain automatically recognized the word “conch shell.” The next second, the mall interface instantly switched, and the dazzling array of goods was instantly left with only one, and it was Deng Xi’s favorite.

Bunny read it out, word by word, “Couple-style conch shell recording earrings?”

So the big brother was giving it to his partner! Just like how his mom and dad would often give each other gifts.

On the interface was a translucent golden conch shell earring the size of half a fingertip, small and exquisite. The other one in the couple’s set was bright silver.

When one party stored a recording in the conch shell, the other party, when they activated their own conch shell, would hear the newly stored recording.

Bunny quickly understood the details page and explained it to Deng Xi. Deng Xi nodded his head. He had no concept of money. As long as he liked it, he wanted to buy it.

Deng Xi, imitating the little mute, selected and paid. When he was choosing the address, he hesitated for a moment. “Can Bunny help me get it?”

Deng Xi wanted to give the little mute a surprise and didn’t want to buy it at home.

Bunny agreed and cleverly changed the address to his own home.

The next day, when they met, the conch shell earring was handed to Deng Xi by Bunny. At night, when he went home, Deng Xi was restlessly operating the flying chair. For some reason, he was suddenly very, very nervous.

The flying ship was flying steadily. The cabin was exceptionally quiet. Si Jisheng was looking down and dealing with official business. Outside the transparent round window was the starry sky that was rapidly passing by, with specks of stars and the moonlight like a waterfall.

Deng Xi mustered his courage and drove the flying chair to the little mute’s side. He propped himself up with his arms. “I want to sit with Little Mute.”

Si Jisheng helped Deng Xi to the empty seat on the sofa beside him.

A long silence.

Deng Xi swayed his legs and secretly glanced at the seemingly focused little mute. He bit his lip. Afraid of disturbing the little mute, every time he wanted to speak, he would lower his head in frustration.

“What do you want to say?” Si Jisheng closed his comm and turned his gaze.

“I have a gift I want to give to Little Mute.” Deng Xi’s eyes lit up, and he quickly said, he took out a small velvet gift box from his pocket, his blue eyes curving, as if seeking praise, “Ta-da—”

“It’s a new little conch shell!”

Si Jisheng was slightly stunned. Before he could react, Deng Xi, who had been studying how to wear earrings all day, pounced over, took out the translucent golden little earring, and placed it on the little mute’s earlobe. The earrings of the interstellar age would automatically stick to the human body.

“This conch shell can record. This way, when I want to sing, as long as I record it, the little mute on the other side can hear it!”

Si Jisheng’s breath hitched slightly. After thinking carefully and confirming that he was not mistaken, he asked, “Is this a gift for some anniversary?”

Deng Xi shook his head. “No.”

Deng Xi’s exquisite features were filled with a smile. He said seriously, “It’s not an anniversary, and it’s not because Little Mute gave me a gift, so I have to give Little Mute a gift too.”

This day was very ordinary, very normal.

It was because—

“I missed you, so I’m giving you a gift.”

[Jiaoren Gong x Merman Shòu]

Deng Xi lives on a planet that is all ocean, with no land.

He is the only merman on the entire planet.

Hugging his big tail and counting the days on his little fingers, the lonely little merman grew up day by day.

One day, he discovered another "merman"!

The other was injured and bleeding nonstop. His face was pale and weak—he looked so, so pitiful!

Deng Xi decided that he had to protect this precious, newfound member of his kind.

However, the other seemed to be a little mute and wouldn't speak to him.

Deng Xi painstakingly nursed the "little mute" back to health, only to discover with a heavy heart that once he was healed, the little mute had disappeared.

The other had left him, and Deng Xi was all alone once more.

A long, long time later, the merman was captured by offworlders who invaded his planet. Star pirates began to live-stream an auction for this merman, the only one of his kind in the entire universe.

Inside a cramped water tank, a chain locked around his neck, the merman huddled pitifully in a small corner.

Factions from all corners of the universe were in a frenzy. Who would win the bid for this new species of celestial beauty? Just as the astronomical deal was about to close—the starship's door was blasted open, and a man with features as sharp and cold as a blade stormed in, brandishing a weapon.

The Imperial Marshal, whose very name struck terror into the hearts of his enemies, apprehended all the star pirates and took the little merman home as a spoil of war.

The man gently and patiently taught the little merman everything about the interstellar age.

The sight of the Marshal's features softening left the entire universe slack-jawed.

·

On the very first day he was brought back, Deng Xi discovered that the Marshal also had a large tail. He thrashed it in delight and threw his arms around him, exclaiming, "Little Mute!"

Deng Xi was overjoyed to have found one of his own kind again, so much so that he failed to notice the man's slightly strange expression.

Si Jisheng held Deng Xi's hand, swimming slowly with him in the pool. Actually, he thought, I'm not one of your kind.

I'm not a merman. I'm a Jiaoren.

The Jiaoren of the East are immensely powerful, every part of their bodies a lethal weapon.

Whereas the mermen of the West are weak and powerless—nothing more than useless beauties.
