Chapter 74 Part 2
The infirmary entrance was crowded, like a celebrity appearance.
The doors opened, and Li Hao and He Yunxiao rushed in like Olympic sprinters, almost knocking over the table.
Wu Heng: “…”
This was a vaccination, not a money giveaway!
He Yunxiao, perhaps because of Xi Xi’s aura, was slightly faster, wincing slightly as he received his shot, smugly watching the frustrated Li Hao, who had missed his chance.
After being vaccinated, the students lingered, staring at Wu Heng curiously, their first time seeing him up close, even more handsome than online, and in a lab coat, he didn’t look like a mysterious shaman doctor at all.
Excited chatter erupted from outside, and Wu Heng watched with surprise as a pretty girl with short hair was escorted inside, surrounded by people.
“A celebrity student returning for vaccination? She’s usually never here,” Li Hao said, surprised, pressing a cotton swab to his arm.
The celebrity seemed to be in a hurry, seeing the long line at Wu Heng’s table, she went to the other one, cameras flashing. Wang Dong and the Black Hairs were among those taking photos.
Wu Heng’s gaze followed her, until a shadow fell over him, blocking his view.
Shi Xuan, in a loose T-shirt, his sleeves rolled up, revealing his toned arms, biceps flexing, pulled his attention back.
He suddenly remembered their “reciprocity” moment, Shi Xuan showing him his abs. His good friend was indeed… well-built.
“Doctor, not getting vaccinated?” a voice asked.
Wu Heng hesitated, “Are you sure?”
This vaccine was developed by the Xuanmen, to replenish Yang qi and protect against evil spirits, effective for ordinary people, but not for someone like Shi Xuan, whose body was filled with Yin qi.
Even He Yunxiao had suggested he feign illness, after all, it was voluntary.
Shi Xuan: “Yes.”
Not getting vaccinated would require an explanation, a hassle.
The elderly Taoist doctor, after checking his normal temperature on his medical report, handed Wu Heng the vaccine.
Shi Xuan’s expression didn’t change as the needle pierced his skin.
Afterward, as required, they had to wait for half an hour, so the students sat on the benches, some sleeping, some reading.
Li Hao and his friends gave Shi Xuan a thumbs-up. “So badass, even getting vaccinated.”
He Yunxiao said, “Our Brother Shi is immune to Yang energy. That little bit from a vaccine is nothing.”
Even the snake that made him pregnant was afraid of Shi Xuan, what was a vaccine to him? Besides, he was still human.
Shi Xuan, his face impassive, reading calmly, showed no signs of discomfort.
The celebrity student, sitting a few rows behind, feeling drowsy, leaned against her friend and closed her eyes.
After half an hour, the head of their senior year entered, “If you’re all feeling fine, return to your classrooms.”
As they filed out, a scream suddenly echoed through the hall.
“Huh? Where am I? Wasn’t I just… gardening?” The celebrity rubbed her eyes, her voice filled with confusion.
Her friend chuckled, “Gardening? You must be dreaming! This is the infirmary! We all came for vaccinations.”
The celebrity, staring at her friend, then blurted out, “…Who… who are you?”
Her friend was stunned. “Huh?”
Had she forgotten her best friend? She hadn’t been back to school much lately due to filming, but they chatted online frequently.
“She must still be half-asleep,” another student suggested. “Get some fresh air.”
The commotion quickly died down.
Wu Heng, watching the girl’s retreating figure, took out a piece of paper, wrote a secret character on it, and handed it to Wang Dong. “Give this to her.”
Wang Dong was almost in tears!
Doctor Wu was so good to him! Creating an opportunity for him to meet his idol! Even Brother Hao didn’t have this privilege.
This celebrity student wasn’t very popular online, famous only for her looks, many negative comments, but some dedicated fans based purely on her appearance, Wang Dong among them.
Clutching the talisman, he rushed out.
The elderly Taoist doctor quietly observed all this, then, during a break, said gently to Wu Heng, “Doctor Wu, thank you for taking care of Chen Zhao.”
Wu Heng smiled. “You must be Chen Zhao’s master. Isn’t he treating those patients with the… diseases… for you now?”
The old man stroked his beard, his voice filled with benevolent concern, “I’ve cured them all, following Doctor Wu’s instructions. I’m here to assist with the vaccinations.”
Wu Heng: …Really?
What assistance? This was about money.
Wu Heng thanked a student who brought him water, took a sip, and asked, “Is there something you want to tell me, old man?”
The old man looked around, embarrassed.
That was fifty thousand yuan!
Fifty thousand, that unfilial disciple had just transferred it to him! He was certain that Wu Heng had given Chen Zhao one hundred thousand, that’s why he was so generous, giving half to his master.
A Taoist doctor wouldn’t be swayed by money, but he would gladly bow down to it.
All that talk about integrity was just hot air, faced with starvation, he would bend faster than anyone.
Although an officially recognized organization, the Xuanmen was different from government agencies or state-owned enterprises.
The government recognized their skills, but internally, it was still autonomous, only occasionally taking on official assignments, the salaries coming from within.
He continued, his voice indignant, “That unfilial wretch, Chen Zhao, said he wanted to take me and join another sect, such disrespectful words, how shameless…”
Wu Heng, intrigued, “And?”
The old man declared righteously, “So I’ve decided to bring my unfilial disciple to join your esteemed sect.”
Wu Heng: “…”
Heaven truly worked in mysterious ways, these two were destined to be master and disciple.
Wu Heng was speechless as the old man continued to study him, this wasn’t just an ordinary intern. He couldn’t see through his abilities despite observing him for so long.
His deceased master had said, hard work was no match for latching onto someone powerful.
Although Wu Heng looked young, perhaps just superficially so. With him, their master-disciple duo would never have to worry about food again.
Wu Heng paused. “…I’ll consider it.”
He then continued administering vaccines. Being a prestigious school, there weren’t many students, the process quick.
Wu Heng, in casual clothes now, his backpack on, thanked the principal, “Thank you, Principal. I’ll audit your classes.”
Attending once or twice a week, bringing back resources for Zhou Yi, even some exam papers and online lessons, would be helpful.
The principal beamed and patted his shoulder, repeatedly agreeing.
Although just an auditor, with Wu Heng’s presence, he felt the school was safer, and their connection would make seeking help easier in the future.
Wu Heng followed the homeroom teacher to the classroom, and the students fell silent as he entered.
“This is Wu Heng. He’ll be auditing our classes from now on.”
Shi Xuan’s gaze, fixed on the window outside, turned to Wu Heng, surprise in his usually indifferent eyes. Wu Heng had never mentioned this.
The next second, he kicked Li Hao, who was smugly fantasizing about being classmates with Wu Heng, and said coldly, “Return to your seat.”
