Chapter 23: Kidnapped
It was already night when the Su family received the news that Su Chimian and Chi Xiasheng had been kidnapped.
The kidnappers, hiding in a secret location they couldn’t find, finally called the frantic Su family.
On the other end of the line, a kidnapper, his voice distorted, directly demanded that they put two hundred million in cash on a ship. After they confirmed the money, they would release the hostages.
Mother Su, who had never experienced such a situation, was so anxious she almost fainted. Father Su, however, remained calm. He calmly recorded the call and asked for the time and place of the transaction.
The kidnapper naturally knew what Father Su was up to and said coldly, “Don’t get any funny ideas. I have two hostages here! If you do anything wrong, you’ll be one son short!”
The Su family had been unable to find Su Chimian since the afternoon and had reported it to the police in a panic. They had thought only Su Chimian had been kidnapped, but they never expected there was another one.
“Two… two?”
Mother Su’s chest heaved, and her voice trembled as she asked, “Is Chi Xiasheng with them too?!”
There was a hint of relief in her tone, but unfortunately, everyone just thought she was too agitated and didn’t catch the meaning behind her words.
“It’s alright, we’ll save both children. I promise I won’t give up on your child.”
Su Chengjian knew he had wronged Mother Su and quickly patted her hand comfortingly.
Mother Su had been married to him for over twenty years and knew his character well. She just lowered her head and silently wiped her tears. At this moment, she felt that it was a good thing she had done what she did back then. Otherwise, with Su Chengjian’s shallow guilt towards her, it would have been useless!
Su Jinfeng returned from outside with the police, looking dusty and tired. He shook his head at his parents.
“The relevant surveillance footage has been deleted. They had someone on the inside at the hotel.”
The kidnappers had taken advantage of the birthday party to disguise themselves and sneak in.
At this moment, the hotel manager was also standing by, his back drenched in a cold sweat. If Young Master Su couldn’t be rescued this time, their hotel would be truly finished!
No, it was already finished.
Young Master Su had been kidnapped at their hotel. Their hotel’s reputation was probably completely ruined!
But Father Su had no energy to worry about the hotel now. He was only thinking about how to rescue the two of them with the least cost.
Because the kidnappers had two hostages, the police also advised them to first comply with the kidnappers’ demands and prepare a ship with cash to prevent them from getting angry and killing the hostages.
“That port in Hai City has been abandoned for a long time. The kidnappers chose it as the transaction point, partly because it’s deserted, and partly because they want to escape overseas by ship.”
This was a common tactic used by kidnappers. Their main goal was money, so as long as the money was there, they would release the hostages and flee the country.
By now, Mother Su had mostly calmed down. Her expression slowly became composed. After the police temporarily left to deploy, she said to Father Su, “Chengjian, we don’t have that much cash. Once we take out two hundred million, the company’s capital chain will definitely have problems.”
Father Su naturally knew that too. Their company was expanding into other markets, and it was impossible to get two hundred million in cash in one day. He ran a hand through his hair and, thinking of something, his eyes deepened.
“Prepare the ship first. Add the liquid funds that Jinfeng and I have, and put half of it on board.”
One hundred million. This was Su Chengjian’s bottom line now.
Although the police had said before they left that they must comply with the kidnappers’ demands, otherwise it could easily lead to a disaster, Su Chengjian would absolutely not allow the company he had worked so hard to build to be impacted by this.
In the afternoon, Little Black finished the meat Chi Xiasheng had prepared for him and lay on the sofa to slowly heal.
His injuries were all internal, like a dry well overgrown with weeds. Not only was there no clear water inside, but it was also full of disgusting moss and thorny balls. He needed to pull out all these things one by one and refill the well with water to fully recover.
In fact, he had thought he wouldn’t survive that lightning tribulation. After all, He had detested him for a long time and had wanted to strike him dead with lightning. But he never expected that he would open his eyes again.
But he was also severely injured. If Chi Xiasheng hadn’t appeared, he would have gone into seclusion for a few decades or even a hundred years, only coming out after his injuries had completely healed.
Thinking of Chi Xiasheng, Little Black’s slightly recovered body slowly stretched out. He jumped off the sofa and padded to the balcony.
The last sliver of light on the horizon was swallowed by the night, and Little Black felt a strange sense of worry.
Chi Xiasheng had said he would be back at night, but it had been so long…
After all, he was his savior. After thinking for a while, Little Black jumped onto the windowsill and, using his old trick, leaped down.
A few minutes later, Sheng Sheng, dressed in black clothes transformed from his fur, was waiting by the roadside for his secretary to arrive.
The driver arrived at Sheng Sheng’s location at top speed. The secretary jumped out and opened the car door for him.
“CEO Sheng.”
Sheng Sheng nodded slightly, got into the car, and took the phone from the secretary. “Help me find out where Chi Xiasheng is as soon as possible.”
The secretary had known on the way that CEO Sheng would definitely ask about Chi Xiasheng’s whereabouts, so he had already checked. But the result of his investigation made his face a little pale.
“Liu Ren, what are you hesitating for?”
Secretary Liu was so scared by Sheng Sheng’s vertical pupils that his tail almost came out. He quickly answered in a low voice, “CEO Sheng, Mr. Chi… he’s been kidnapped.”
Hearing this, Sheng Sheng’s face gradually darkened, like the pitch-black night sky, making one feel a sense of fear.
“Can you find the kidnappers’ location?”
Secretary Liu shook his head with difficulty.
It had only happened a short time ago, and there were too many nooks and crannies in Hai City. Even though Secretary Liu was a demon, he relied on Sheng Sheng’s magic to maintain his human form, let alone a difficult task like finding someone.
“CEO Sheng, you’re so powerful. You should be able to find him, right?”
Secretary Liu didn’t know about Sheng Sheng’s lightning tribulation, so he cautiously made a suggestion. Although he didn’t know the extent of Sheng Sheng’s power, just a wisp of his magic could help him take human form. Finding a person should not be difficult.
After hearing him, Sheng Sheng’s face became even uglier.
He had indeed recovered a little in the past two days, but he couldn’t easily use his power. Once he did, he would expose himself, and that mortal enemy who was watching him in the dark would definitely pounce.
If it were before, Sheng Sheng wouldn’t have even bothered to glance at him, but now, he couldn’t.
If only that lightning tribulation hadn’t happened, he wouldn’t be in such a passive situation…
Secretary Liu was very good at reading people’s expressions, otherwise he wouldn’t have been chosen by Sheng Sheng. So he quickly said, “The kidnappers probably want a ransom. I heard that the Su family is currently exchanging a large amount of cash. They should be going to pay the ransom.”
“Where are they paying the ransom?” Sheng Sheng rubbed the bridge of his nose in frustration.
“At Tianjia Bay. It’s an abandoned small port.”
Sheng Sheng knew that the relationship between the Su family and Chi Xiasheng was not good. After thinking about it, he decided to be on the safe side and told Secretary Liu to get some money.
Although he felt that with the Su family’s financial resources, they shouldn’t have trouble raising the money. But for some reason, he had a feeling that it might come in handy.
Exchanging cash also took time. Because the amount was so large, Sheng Sheng even had to go to the bank to sign for it in person. The bank manager accompanied him, afraid that this big client would be dissatisfied. When he was leaving, he even carefully put in a few good words for his bank, asking Sheng Sheng to choose them first next time he needed to deposit money.
Sheng Sheng didn’t respond and left in a hurry.
Chi Xiasheng was blindfolded, and his senses had become numb. He had no idea how much time had passed.
He had also thought about saving himself, but after trying for so long, he confirmed that both his arms had probably been dislocated by the kidnappers, and he couldn’t lift them at all.
It was the same for Su Chimian. He couldn’t use his arms either.
The only thing they could do was to get close to each other and use their teeth to remove the black cloth from their eyes.
This small action had attracted the attention of the kidnappers.
But seeing that the two of them were relatively obedient, the kidnappers cursed at them for a while and then retied the blindfolds, even assigning someone to watch them.
Now, Chi Xiasheng and Su Chimian couldn’t even talk. They could only lean against the wall in silence, feeling the slow passage of time.
This period of time was extremely torturous. Chi Xiasheng even felt as if a century had passed.
And because he was dehydrated and needed to drink a lot of water every day to feel comfortable, he hadn’t had a drop of water since he was kidnapped.
The feeling of dehydration was more obvious than ever, but it wasn’t as severe. It was a gentle and slow torture.
The legs wrapped in his jeans also felt an itch like they were shedding skin, making him want to scratch them. But his legs were also tied, so he could only let the itchy, numb feeling run rampant, all the way to his heart, making his usually calm heart begin to beat faster.
His mind was not as rational as before. Chi Xiasheng even started to see light and hallucinations in the darkness, making him think he was swimming in water at one point.
In the end, he bit his tongue, using the sharp pain to try to stay awake.
Just as he was about to be driven mad by this torment, the kidnappers finally took them out again.
