Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 30 Part 1

Boss Zhu picked up the parts from the floor and turned his head, looking somewhat embarrassed.

“Sorry about that, Little Bo. You must have found that amusing.”

“This guy gets a bit excited whenever he sees my hands.”

“Ouch, this old waist of mine—I don’t even know how long it’s been since I replaced it.”

Those legs nimbly stepped over Bo Ting and walked to the calico’s side. They lifted up the head mounted on the waist and reassembled another section.

Bo Ting took a deep breath, finding the scene before him inexplicably horrifying.

But when he remembered that the calico had kicked him, that trace of terror seemed to fade a little.

However, Bo Ting suddenly took another look at Boss Zhu’s legs. So, the ghostly thing that delivered the mail during the day was actually Boss Zhu himself?

“Oh, right, Little Bo, what were you about to ask earlier?”

After reassembling himself, the disheveled Boss Zhu turned back around.

Bo Ting hesitated for a moment.

“Brother Zhu, you put your ears on backwards.”

“Oh, oh, like this?”

Boss Zhu fumbled around and swapped his left and right ears.

Bo Ting nodded, feeling like he didn’t need to ask anything else.

No matter how much he malfunctioned, he wouldn’t be this disoriented, right?

Bo Ting felt he urgently needed to calm down and properly mend his crumbling worldview.

He had thought his air conditioner turning into a spirit was strange enough, but Brother Zhu was actually a spirit made of parts— even more bizarre than him.

Coming back to his senses, Bo Ting smiled friendly at Brother Zhu and politely took his leave.

“Well then, Brother Zhu, why don’t you tidy up first today.”

“I won’t disturb you anymore.”

He glanced around; the house was a total mess, and the desk lamp in the study had been knocked over. Boss Zhu also looked a bit embarrassed at that moment.

“Alright then, Little Bo. Contact me on your phone anytime if you need anything.”

“I’ll clean up first.”

Muttering to himself, Brother Zhu stood up and walked to the door.

Bo Ting let out a slight sigh of relief, not fully relaxing until he reached downstairs.

But the next moment, he felt something was off.

Wait… why did his left hand feel so heavy?

Bo Ting frowned and quietly glanced back, only to suddenly lock eyes with the three-colored cat squatting on his arm.

Bo Ting: …

Damn it, he had forgotten to return the cat!

He had actually brought the cat downstairs too.

the calico, who had just fiercely attacked her owner, had no idea what had happened.

She meowed a couple times while grooming her paws. Then her round eyes turned to Bo Ting, as if signaling him to open the door.

Bo Ting: …

Fine.

He had brought her back, so be it. Boss Zhu would probably contact him once he finished cleaning and noticed the cat was missing.

But as soon as Bo Ting opened the door, before he could steady his phone, Doudou came charging from the balcony and pounced right at him.

Oh no!

The thought had just flashed through his mind when the black-and-calico duo, the tyrants of the building, leaped at each other and started fighting fiercely.

Bo Ting’s temple twitched. After hearing the “crack” of a vase shattering, there was a “bang”—his thermos cup, which he had just bought before transmigrating, rolled down too!

The pure white cup landed under the paws of the calico cat and black dog, fragile as a thin wafer.

Bo Ting’s face was expressionless as his anger steadily rose.

Finally, just as the calico and black dog prepared to keep tearing into each other, he spoke coldly.

“Stop pawing!”

The clear male voice rang in their ears.

the calico and Doudou stopped in unison.

The next second, Bo Ting grabbed each by the scruff with one hand and hoisted them into the air.

“No more fighting!”

“Keep it up, and I’ll hang you both on the door.”

The cat and dog were forcibly calmed, suddenly not daring to provoke the human in front of them.

Doudou huffed through its nose and shot the calico a sidelong glance, as if mocking how she wasn’t so arrogant now.

the calico immediately whipped her tail at it again.

Bo Ting twitched his mouth and decided to look away.

One animal per cloth bag, hung behind the door for reflection. Only then did he painfully gaze at his shattered vase and thermos cup!

These were all premium items he had bought with his own money at the ten-yuan store, and now they were broken.

If these weren’t a dog and a cat, Bo Ting would have demanded compensation.

With a cold face, he cleaned up the mess of shards on the floor.

Bo Ting turned to look at the calico and Doudou.

“No midnight snacks tonight.”

“You two need to reflect properly.”

the calico meowed dismissively.

Doudou’s eyes widened, its ferocious dog face instantly collapsing, as if it hadn’t expected such severe punishment.

A few minutes later.

Bo Ting lay on the sofa and blankly picked up his phone.

Truth be told, before going upstairs to see Boss Zhu, he hadn’t imagined things would develop like this.

—Witnessing Boss Zhu “transform” with his own eyes.

But now, the reassembled image of him flashed clearly in his mind; Bo Ting even remembered exactly how he attached his hair.

Boss Zhu was clearly not human.

Or at least, not a “normal” human.

He frowned slightly, unsure how to tell the netizens.

Should he say, “Hahaha, eye-opener today—first time realizing express deliveries really can grow legs and run on their own.”

Or “I discovered a secret.”

“The bookstore owner upstairs in our complex isn’t human!”

Horrifying, shocking headlines flashed through his mind. Bo Ting sighed. “They’d definitely think I’m crazy, right?”

He found it hard to comprehend himself.

Bo Ting rubbed his face, feeling like the entire day had shattered his worldview.

the calico, hanging on the door, boredly swished her tail at Bo Ting.

Bo Ting grabbed the cat’s fluffy tail and took a sniff of the sly little feline before perking up again.

No, regardless, he still needed to reply to the netizens.

Bo Ting picked up his phone and, the next second, sent an emoji.

A melancholic orange cat sighed while curled in its food bowl.

Xu Qinglai was alerted by his phone’s vibration. He glanced over and saw Bo Ting was “back.”

He finished asking so quickly?

But… tsk, why that emoji?

Thinking to himself, Xu Qinglai asked unhurriedly.

“What happened?”

Bo Ting: “Mr. Xu.”

“Do you believe humans can survive detached from their bodies?”

A highly philosophical topic suddenly popped up, clashing with the image in the chat.

Xu Qinglai paused, rubbing his fingertip on the phone.

“Of course. I’ve always believed it.”

The weird entities that had mutated weren’t mostly existences detached from their bodies?

Like the boss of the “Rebirth Pet Shop,” or… the so-called “Night Crying Woman” on Golden Summit.

Compared to the death-substitute wriggling worms of the “Rebirth Pet Shop,” the “Golden Summit Night Crying Woman” had a more interesting form of existence.

This “Night Crying Woman” was entirely formed from “cries.”

It was a weird entity aggregated from countless cries as a medium, with no body of its own.

Thus, the Resurgence Management Office probably couldn’t get any DNA conclusions from it.

However, analyzing the Night Crying Woman’s form of existence was still a big gain for those Ability Users. Xu Qinglai thought idly.

Bo Ting’s eyes widened. He hadn’t expected Mr. Xu to give such a completely different reply from what he imagined.

He had always thought Mr. Xu was a realist. After all, his speech and everything else suggested he was a truth-seeking scholar.

But now, Mr. Xu said he “believed in existences detached from bodies.”

Bo Ting felt a shiver-inducing excitement rise from the bottom of his heart. As expected, Mr. Xu never disappointed him!

After a quiet few seconds, Bo Ting couldn’t help but send another emoji to express his agitation, then lightly coughed.

“I believe it too.”

A slightly shy cat head appeared.

Xu Qinglai felt a bit odd inside.

This emoji…

What did Bo Ting mean?

He stared at the blushing orange cat image for a while.

Xu Qinglai finally said, “Does what just happened relate to this?”

“Pretty much.”

Bo Ting got the satisfying answer and didn’t want to scare Mr. Xu, so he skipped most details and just said, “Today’s mishap was indeed caused by the upstairs Boss Zhu.”

“But it’s fine now.”

“Delivery accomplished.”

Bo Ting thought openly. Their goal was DNA testing anyway; the delivery method shouldn’t matter, right?

These days, everything was received via email. As long as you didn’t run into it head-on, who would know a pair of legs delivered the box?

The Resurgence Management Office didn’t see it that way at all!

Because the delivery box had arrived so terrifyingly, they had already taken it for testing.

They didn’t think such a delivery was normal at all.

The dog food box’s info hadn’t been tested yet, but the rapid DNA report on the “bloodstained hair” from before came out.

Zheng Shangyun retrieved the DNA report first, but his expression froze the next second.

“Not in any databases?”

He frowned in disbelief.

If it wasn’t the Night Crying Woman, that would be normal—who could confirm it was really her hair?

But now, it said there was no such data…

Mengjia City had been collecting citizen data for hundreds of years per regulations; all pre-mutation citizen data was in the database.

Bo Ting considered himself just an ordinary unemployed young man. After losing his job and sleeping in frustration at home, he woke up the next day to discover—he had transmigrated.

Not only had he transmigrated, but the entire residential complex had come with him.

Overnight, they inexplicably arrived in... a strange city?

Before he could freak out over this unscientific event, Bo Ting suffered even more bad luck—he realized not only was his education useless here, but he also seemed to have developed mental illness.

He started hallucinating that he was some bizarre thing the moment he opened his eyes, and even looking at his neighbors felt off.

In the midst of anomalies resurging, a residential complex with no records suddenly descended upon the southern part of Mengjia City, drawing the highest attention from the Resurgence Management Office.

The building materials of the complex could not be detected and existed between illusion and reality. Like any ordinary neighborhood, its gate bore the words 【Taiping Luxury Garden】, red couplets were posted on it, and there was a security booth at the entrance—yet no security guard ever appeared.

After multiple tests, passersby had no impression of the complex at all. Strangely, nearby anomalies all avoided approaching it.

The Resurgence Management Office treated it as a major threat. Fortunately, 【Taiping Luxury Garden】 remained silent for a month after arriving in Mengjia City. Just as they classified it as a Dormant Anomaly and lowered the alert level by one—the next second, a handsome young man in a black hoodie, with a humanoid form, walked out from the complex.

The Resurgence Management Office, who had just breathed a sigh of relief after revoking the alert: ???

Bo Ting, stepping out of the complex for the first time: ???

Although Bo Ting had become a mental patient, as one of the few young and strong laborers in the complex after transmigration, he was entrusted with a heavy responsibility by the residents' committee after five days of heated discussion. He was sent out as the representative of 【Taiping Luxury Garden】 to procure supplies and send messages for everyone.

And also... *cough cough* (blushing), to meet up in person with the beautiful online friend who had frequently comforted him after the transmigration.

In Bo Ting's mind, this netizen not only didn't mind that he was a mental patient but patiently encouraged him to regain his confidence and embrace life. She was truly a good person.

To make her feel valued, Bo Ting specially bought a bouquet of pink roses from the flower shop at the base of the complex before the meetup. After thoughtfully writing a card, he stepped out of the complex gate with a "heart pounding with excitement."

A few minutes later, he suddenly locked eyes with a group of people across the street and was shocked to discover—wait, why was he surrounded?!
