Chapter 10: Sweet
Niangao was already tired from playing with Facai and Dashun. He was curled up on the sofa, drinking the hot milk Feng Yan had given him.
Niangao held the glass with both hands, taking small sips with his head down. The expression on his face grew increasingly unhappy.
“What’s wrong?” Feng Yan looked down and smiled. “Does it not taste good?”
“Daddy still hasn’t, come back…” Niangao looked up at Feng Yan and said pitifully, “Why isn’t Daddy back yet?”
Feng Yan paused, then reached out and gently ruffled Niangao’s hair. “Your daddy will be back soon.”
Feng Yan couldn’t resist asking, “Is he your daddy? Why did you call him gege before?”
Niangao instantly froze on the spot. He still had a milk mustache, but he was so scared that all expression vanished from his face.
Feng Yan: “…??”
Niangao’s face grew redder and redder, and his eyes grew redder and redder.
Feng Yan: “???”
Did I say something wrong?
Right now, what Niangao was thinking was, it’s over, I didn’t listen to what Daddy told me, I wasn’t obedient, I forgot about the address thing again.
Will Daddy not want me anymore because of this?
Daddy still hasn’t come back yet.
Just like that, Feng Yan watched as tears welled up in Niangao’s eyes, and then teardrops fell one by one. He was actually sobbing on the sofa, holding his milk.
“Hey, Niangao, don’t cry, don’t cry…”
Feng Yan was a little flustered. He took the milk away, picked up Niangao, and coaxed him, “Daddy will be back soon. He’s probably on his way, buying cake for Niangao.”
“I want Daddy…” Niangao completely let loose and wailed.
Feng Yan: “…”
Feng Yan held the soft little ball of flesh, not daring to scold him and not knowing how to coax him. He said stiffly, “Don’t cry, don’t cry. I’ll give you candy, okay?”
“Look, what’s that outside the window? A flying saucer!”
“Should we call your daddy?”
…
Feng Yan had no choice. “How about we go find your daddy?”
Niangao immediately stopped, blinking his tear-filled eyes at Feng Yan.
“Can, can we?”
Feng Yan said helplessly, “Yes, let’s go to the hospital to find your daddy.”
“Thank you, Yan-gege…” Niangao hiccuped as he sniffled.
Feng Yan pointed to the milk on the table. “I’ll take you to find him after you finish drinking.”
Niangao immediately jumped off the sofa and gulped down the milk. Feng Yan, on the other hand, went to his room to find a shorter jacket, draped it over Niangao to wrap him up, and then picked the child up.
“Can Yan-gege find Daddy?” In the elevator, Niangao clutched Feng Yan’s collar. “Yan-gege is so amazing.”
Feng Yan smiled. “Where do you usually wait when your daddy is busy?”
“At, at Uncle Yu Han’s house!” Niangao pouted. “But, Uncle Yu Han can’t find Daddy.”
Feng Yan smiled. “That’s because when you’re at Yu Han’s house, your daddy is mostly at work or on a business trip.”
If Yu Han were to take the child to Yu Weixi’s workplace to find him, wouldn’t the gossip explode? Wouldn’t the entire entertainment industry be in an uproar??
“Oh, oh…” Niangao seemed to understand, but not really.
But…
Niangao nuzzled Feng Yan’s neck.
“I like Yan-gege!”
For some reason, he always felt particularly safe and warm when this big brother held him.
“Oh?” Feng Yan deliberately teased him. “Then who do you like more, Yu Han or me?”
Niangao was stunned. He frowned and thought hard.
“Mmm…”
“I like Uncle Yu Han’s cooking, and I like it when Yan-gege holds me.”
“But I like Daddy the most!”
Feng Yan smiled and carried the child to the car.
I hope Yu Weixi doesn’t misunderstand and think I’m kidnapping his child.
…But, this child was a little too easy to kidnap.
Feng Yan helplessly buckled the child’s seatbelt.
The car started smoothly and headed towards the hospital.
“…Xixi!”
The moment Yu Weixi stepped out of the back door of the vet hospital with Nuomi’s carrier, Ji Shilin caught up to him.
Ji Shilin was really worried seeing Yu Weixi like this.
Yu Weixi was about to shout again, but he froze.
The black Mercedes-Benz was parked on the side of the road. Feng Yan was still wearing his black jacket. He took off his sunglasses and smiled at him. “Get in.”
Yu Weixi thought he had time-traveled.
“Gege!!” Niangao, sitting in the passenger seat, threw himself at Feng Yan, waving his hands, wanting to get a little closer to Yu Weixi.
Feng Yan quickly unbuckled Niangao’s seatbelt and held him in his arms.
Ji Shilin, standing on the side, also thought he had time-traveled.
…What happened to being arch-nemeses?
What happened to the two leads who couldn’t stand each other and had a falling out over a drama?
Hmm??
Not only Ji Shilin, but Yu Weixi was also surprised.
He hadn’t expected to see such a scene.
Yu Weixi frowned slightly, walked over, leaned his hand on the car door, and lowered his head to whisper, “Why did you bring Niangao here?”
Feng Yan said, “I couldn’t help it. The kid was crying for you.”
Feng Yan pinched Niangao’s cheek. “Isn’t that right, little Niangao? You even cried.”
Niangao grinned and opened his arms towards Yu Weixi.
“Daddy, hold me!”
Yu Weixi smiled helplessly, leaned over, and reached into the car through the window to hug the child.
To an outsider, this gesture looked a little different.
In the night, under the moonlight, Yu Weixi was not only hugging the child but also seemed to be throwing himself into the arms of the man sitting in the driver’s seat.
Ji Shilin’s eyes were about to fall out of their sockets.
Didn’t Feng Yan personally admit that the rumors were fake…
Ji Shilin clenched his fists slightly.
It was the first time he had seen Yu Weixi act like this with someone. It wasn’t that they were being overly intimate, but… it was different.
He couldn’t put his finger on what was different, but it was just different.
Feng Yan also felt Yu Weixi’s proximity, the scent of his shampoo lingering at the tip of his nose.
It smelled like milk.
The same scent as Niangao. He probably just used Niangao’s to save trouble.
Since they filmed The Coast together, this was the first time they had been this close in four years.
Feng Yan was a little dazed, but before he could do anything, or even let his thoughts wander, Yu Weixi had already moved away.
Perhaps realizing that the gesture was a bit over the line, Yu Weixi only hugged Niangao for a moment to comfort him before straightening up.
Feng Yan felt a little regretful.
“Nuomi!” Niangao looked at the cat and smiled. “Let’s take Nuomi home!”
“Mmm.” Yu Weixi turned around, greeted Ji Shilin, and waved. “We’re leaving.”
I have no choice, Yu Weixi thought. My son is in Feng Yan’s hands, I have to get in the car.
Ji Shilin dazedly raised his hand in response.
Yu Weixi got into the passenger seat. The car started and disappeared into the night.
Feng Yan drove the car to a pastry shop, turned off the engine, put on his sunglasses, and smiled. “Should I go buy you guys some cake?”
“Chocolate! Chocolate cake!” Niangao was overjoyed, nestled in Yu Weixi’s arms.
“And you?” Feng Yan glanced at Yu Weixi.
“I’m not eating.” Yu Weixi was a dancer; the thing he cared about most was his figure. He didn’t mind much if his hair fell out or his looks declined, but his figure had to be maintained.
Feng Yan didn’t say anything, just grabbed his jacket and got out of the car.
Seeing Feng Yan leave, Yu Weixi glanced at Nuomi in the back seat and said to Niangao, “Daddy is going to take a nap.”
Yu Weixi closed his eyes and summoned the system.
“Ding-dong~! I’m here!”
Yu Weixi communicated with the system in his mind: “Request to exchange for a treasure.”
This system had appeared when Yu Weixi was terminally ill and on the verge of death. It required Yu Weixi to act as a vessel, constantly absorbing the dark energy from others’ curses to take out a loan on his life. Only by accumulating a certain amount could Yu Weixi completely break free from the system and gain a life that was truly his own.
But there were also perks along the way. The system had a small shop where he could exchange for various treasures, such as figure points and beauty points, things that couldn’t be bought in reality.
And exchanging for these things didn’t consume the accumulated energy. It was completely free. In other words, when his energy value reached a certain threshold, he would get an exchange opportunity.
And what Yu Weixi wanted to exchange for this time was a small life.
The system said, “Well, the system can’t directly exchange for precious things like life and soul.”
“Not a human life, just a small cat.”
“Ah… in that case, Host, please wait a moment. I’ll check for you right away!”
In no time, the system replied, “After checking, the Host’s current dark energy value is thirty-nine thousand nine hundred and twelve. The next exchange opportunity will drop when the dark energy reaches forty thousand. The Host is just a little short of the energy value.”
Yu Weixi frowned slightly.
He was just a little short, but nothing was happening right now. The online hate wouldn’t be enough to reach forty thousand before Nuomi couldn’t hold on any longer.
He just needed a small incident to happen.
What could it be…
Yu Weixi began to think about how to use his daily Dylan Bot post on Weibo to make a profit.
The trouble was, with Dylan Bot courting death like this every day, the various fanbases had become more or less desensitized. They even treated it as a daily joke and wouldn’t get too angry or start a serious fan war.
As Yu Weixi was worrying, Feng Yan returned.
In his hand, he was carrying three exquisite boxes.
Yu Weixi was stunned.
