Chapter 13
The night was dark, without a single star. Wen Linyu sat meditating in his room, waiting.
The formation was in place. He wasn’t sure how many would come tonight. After a long wait, he heard noises downstairs.
But the sounds were odd. He heard footsteps ascending the stairs, but they stopped before reaching his door, vanishing as if the intruders had retreated.
Wen Linyu frowned. Something wasn’t right.
As expected, moments after the noises downstairs ceased, he sensed someone entering his room.
He was surprised. He had layered multiple formations, yet the intruder had bypassed them with ease. Wen Linyu’s alertness intensified. This was no ordinary person.
His teacher had said, eliminate threats first.
Wen Linyu narrowed his eyes. The intruder was approaching. He had to act. Since the formations were ineffective, he would try his sword.
He struck out in the darkness, confident the blow would severely injure his opponent.
The sword light flashed, illuminating a tall figure. Wen Linyu clearly saw the hit land, but before he could react, his wrist was seized.
In an instant, his spiritual power vanished.
Wen Linyu’s eyes widened in shock. How…?
A soft chuckle echoed through the room.
Wen Linyu ignored the mockery, striking out with his palm to create distance, but his every move was effortlessly countered.
As if the intruder knew his every technique.
The laughter intensified with each parry.
As if toying with him, finding it amusing.
Wen Linyu gritted his teeth, cursing inwardly. Crazy!
Then, both his hands were captured, pinned behind his back, and he was pulled forcefully against a hard chest.
He grunted. The grip on his wrists loosened slightly, and he tried to break free, but the hands released his wrists only to grip his chin.
“You’re not nearly strong enough to kill me,” a voice whispered in his ear, a voice laced with amusement.
Wen Linyu froze. That voice…
He forced himself to stay calm, asking, “Who are you?” Was it his teacher? The voice was the same, yet different, unfamiliar, making him hesitant to recognize it.
And why would his teacher be here?
Still held captive, Gu Chi lowered his head, his gaze falling on Wen Linyu’s soft hair and the faint redness of his lips in the dim light.
A fire ignited within him, a fire he believed to be anger. The memory of Wen Linyu’s sudden departure infuriated him.
He was just rescuing someone yesterday! Smiling so unguardedly!
Disobedient little apprentice!
He decided a lesson was in order: “Who am I? You impersonated me for ten years. Did you think you could take those powers for free?”
Gu Chi?!
Wen Linyu was stunned. It was actually Gu Chi?
He remained silent for a long time, the light in his eyes dimming unnoticed by Gu Chi. When he spoke again, his voice was icy: “What do you want?”
What did he want? Gu Chi’s fingers twitched. Even in the darkness, their gazes met.
His gaze trailed over Wen Linyu’s body. He wanted a closer look, to understand what was happening to him.
Wen Linyu, always sensitive to gazes, felt the scrutiny on his shoulders, waist, and chest. A chill ran down his spine. For the first time, he truly wanted to kill someone.
Gu Chi leaned against the headboard, watching him intently, an almost eager glint in his eyes.
He noticed the killing intent and hatred in Wen Linyu’s eyes, and a flicker of approval crossed his face. This was how Gu Chi’s apprentice should be.
Wen Linyu lowered his gaze, his hands, now freed, clenching into fists, then relaxing. He removed his clothes.
He couldn’t kill him now. Resistance was futile. It was better to be compliant, appear harmless, and wait for an opportunity to strike.
In the darkness, Gu Chi watched him undress, his body stiffening once more, his throat suddenly dry.
He finally understood what was happening to him. Lust.
A novel experience.
He savored the sight, but it wasn’t enough. He addressed the motionless Wen Linyu: “Come here.”
Wen Linyu’s jaw clenched. He didn’t move. Gu Chi didn’t press him, his gaze fixed on him.
Disgusting.
Wen Linyu closed his eyes, then walked towards the bed, sitting beside Gu Chi.
Closer now, Gu Chi’s throat tightened. He was thirsty. He reached out, his hand tentatively tracing the smooth skin of Wen Linyu’s back.
Feeling the slight tremor under his palm, a strange excitement surged through him. He pulled Wen Linyu closer, no longer holding back.
As if discovering something fascinating, he nuzzled Wen Linyu’s neck, caressed his shoulders, and pried open his clenched fists, tracing the lines of his fingers.
Wen Linyu endured, waiting.
But in the end, he was simply held close, a contented sigh against his ear, and nothing more.
He waited, but Gu Chi made no further moves, only his arm tightening around his waist, his hand gently stroking his back.
Like holding a cherished toy.
A strange feeling settled over Wen Linyu. The demon’s lack of further action was a relief, but it didn’t lessen his hatred and desire for revenge.
As the night deepened, Wen Linyu remained in Gu Chi’s embrace.
In the other world, the butler, who had witnessed Gu Chi’s departure, stood for a long time, then sighed.
He was truly gone, so suddenly, so urgently.
Who was he going to see? The butler racked his brain. He hadn’t seen Gu Chi close to anyone, not even his subordinates. He had always maintained a certain distance.
And that expression…
The butler’s eyes widened. Could it be… could it be that the Great Demon Lord had secretly found a partner?
This…
The butler’s expression turned strange. The more he thought about it, the more plausible it seemed!
There hadn’t been anyone stronger than Gu Chi appearing recently. And that level of excitement… If that was the case—with all due respect, their Demon Lord’s hobbies were cultivation and fighting. He was completely clueless about romance.
The butler lamented his failure to anticipate this. He had been remiss in his duties!
He wondered if his master even knew how…
