Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 17: Eaten Up Part 1

Tao Zhi felt that this task was too difficult. He definitely couldn’t do it.

That was three whole days!

For three entire days, he had to interact with Fu Siheng as a girl, both in identity and appearance, and find every possible way to seduce him and win him over. How could he possibly pull that off?!

Tao Zhi immediately shook his head like a rattle drum. For the first time, he had the urge to run away. He retreated several steps in a row, putting distance between himself and Fu Zheng.

Fu Zheng didn’t rush to drag him back.

For some reason, Tao Zhi’s resistant and disobedient look made him quite happy.

He was inexplicably delighted, though he didn’t know why. He just felt very comfortable. His tone softened considerably as he calmly tempted him with money: “Thirty thousand for three days.”

Tao Zhi: “…”

Here it came again.

Tao Zhi felt he had no backbone at all.

But…

His retreating steps stopped, though his expression remained hesitant. He looked at Fu Zheng without speaking.

Fu Zheng was in a good mood today and unusually patient.

The two locked eyes. Moments later, Fu Zheng spoke confidently: “Forty thousand.”

Huh?

Tao Zhi was stunned but still waved his hands, trying to reason: “It’s not about the money, Fu Zheng. I really…”

“Fifty thousand.” Fu Zheng interrupted him.

The hesitant expression on Tao Zhi’s face turned to doubt.

But he still didn’t give in.

Fu Zheng kept throwing money at him.

This long-lost feeling of wantonly splurging was just too exhilarating: “Sixty thousand.”

?!!

Sixty thousand!

It had already gone up to sixty thousand!

Tao Zhi’s eyes widened, his black pupils seemingly turning into the shape of money.

As long as there was enough money, all his hesitation and fear of being exposed vanished. He really wanted to nod and agree, but the words caught at the edge of his lips, and he forcibly held them back.

“But Fu Zheng, three days is really too long. I’m afraid I’ll be found out,” Tao Zhi reverted to his earlier hesitant demeanor.

“…”

His acting was terrible.

Such clumsy performance couldn’t fool Fu Zheng at all.

Fu Zheng really wanted to roll his eyes. He held back and warned Tao Zhi: “That’s enough. Know when to quit.”

“Try playing mind games with me again, and you get nothing.”

Ah.

He’d been exposed.

For the first time trying to “scheme” against someone, he was ruthlessly called out. Tao Zhi felt a bit embarrassed. His eyes filled with shyness, and his cheeks heated up.

He felt so bad and excessive. He didn’t dare refute Fu Zheng’s words.

Hmph.

Idiot.

This honest idiot had come to the big city and actually learned to be naughty.

But what good did that do?

An idiot was still an idiot. Even after learning to be naughty, every expression was written on his face. One glance and you knew what he was thinking.

“Come here.” Fu Zheng lifted his eyelids.

He was probably about to get scolded.

Tao Zhi braced himself and walked over obsequiously, apologizing fluently: “Sorry… mmph.”

As soon as he got close to Fu Zheng, his face was grabbed.

Tao Zhi’s fair and soft cheek flesh was pulled into shape by Fu Zheng’s rough fingers.

One hand tugged at his face, the other poked at the slightly bulging flesh of his left cheek.

Not idle at all.

“You still dare to play mind games with me,” Fu Zheng said in a cold, merciless tone.

Though his words were unforgiving, his eyes were fixed on Tao Zhi’s face.

This feel was so soft, the skin so tender. Tsk, why did his teeth suddenly itch?

He wanted to bite.

Fu Zheng pressed his molars together, suppressing the urge, and feigned coldness: “Do you know you’re wrong now?”

“It huwwts, it huwwts.” Tao Zhi begged for mercy, his cheeks pulled so his speech was slurred: “I won’t do it again next time… it hurts.”

“How could it hurt?” Fu Zheng didn’t believe him. “I didn’t even use any force.”

Even so, he let go.

The moment he released him, Tao Zhi clutched his face and retreated, rubbing it for a good while before recovering.

On his fair and pretty face, fingerprints had actually appeared.

Red marks bloomed, a bit disheveled, as if he’d been roughly bullied.

In fact, he really had been roughly bullied.

Thinking of how Tao Zhi had just cried out in pain, Fu Zheng’s expression stiffened.

He subconsciously raised his hand, but Tao Zhi warily retreated, afraid Fu Zheng would tug his face again.

“I was wrong, I was really wrong.” Tao Zhi begged him: “Don’t bully me anymore.”

“Fu Zheng, let me off the hook. I won’t do it next time. I’ve agreed, okay? I’ve agreed, alright?”

Fu Zheng: “?”

Fu Zheng: “…”

Damn.

Did that even count as bullying?

So frustrating.

But at the same time as the frustration, it felt exhilarating.

What the hell.

What was this weird feeling?

Tao Zhi was really… Fu Zheng’s expression changed. Tired of talking nonsense with him, he pointed ahead at the store: “Go in.”

Tao Zhi nodded eagerly and obediently. The storm finally subsided.

Once inside the store, Fu Zheng handed Tao Zhi over to the sales assistant and stepped aside to call Wei Yu.

Things developed exactly as Wei Yu had anticipated.

After hearing Fu Zheng’s purpose, Wei Yu immediately refused, putting on a show of his own difficulties, then left a bit of leeway by saying he’d try to fight for it. Fu Zheng thanked him, and the call ended quickly.

Fu Zheng didn’t care whether Wei Yu agreed or not. He was definitely going on this trip.

Because after New Year’s Day came the approaching Spring Festival, Fu Si Heng was always very busy at this time every year. If he missed this chance, who knew how long it would take to bring Tao Zhi before him next time.

Ah? Me?

Ah? Me?

Tao Zhi had struggled immensely to make it from the countryside to the big city through sheer hard work on the exams. His family was dirt poor and couldn't afford to send him to university, so he shouldered student loans and scraped by with part-time jobs. He juggled classes and work, heading out early and dragging himself home late, pinching every single yuan until it screamed. Life was brutally tough. Until a rich second-generation heir moved into his dorm as a roommate. The roommate was fierce. Bad-tempered, petty, and loaded with young master syndrome. On his very first day, he bossed Tao Zhi around, making him wash his clothes, polish his shoes, attend classes in his place, and fetch his packages. ...And then handed him a thousand yuan as a hardship fee. Tao Zhi, who had just been inwardly griping about how over-the-top this new roommate was: Huh??? The little money-grubber's eyes lit up. - From that day on, Tao Zhi dutifully stepped up as the rich heir's little lackey. When the roommate ate, he passed the chopsticks. When he drank water, he twisted off the cap. When the roommate bullied someone... he hung back, using his own scrawny frame to prop up the scene. But he didn't quite nail the act and got chewed out for it. That night, he rushed to the library and crammed through over a dozen novels, studying up on how to play the haughty, overbearing lackey. One weekend. Tao Zhi had just returned from the library when he spotted an uninvited guest in the dorm. Dressed in a sharp suit, exuding a cold, imposing aura. The man stood before the roommate, wiping blood from his knuckles. His gleaming leather shoe ground Tao Zhi's god of wealth—his roommate—into the floor. "If I catch you stirring up trouble at school again, you're out." Tao Zhi was petrified. He stood there frozen, not daring to twitch. Only after the man left did he scramble over to help his roommate up. The roommate gritted his teeth, wiped the blood from his nose, and spat at Tao Zhi, word by word: "I order you to seduce my brother, toy with him, then dump him hard. Steal his company's trade secrets while you're at it. I'm seizing power—I want *him* gone!" Tao Zhi: "?" Huh? Tao Zhi's vision went black. Thinking back to the man's icy demeanor, he collapsed straight to the floor and jabbed a finger at himself. "M-Me?" ** Reading Guide: 1. Both pure, mutual first loves.
