Chapter 55: Overflowing
His tone of voice seemed no different than usual, but upon closer listening, there was a hint of coldness—not the usual tone he used with Luo Jing.
Luo Jing had just woken up and was still a bit dazed. He didn’t react immediately and asked in confusion, “What… flower?”
Huai Dan didn’t reply, just removed his hand from his hair and stood there quietly, looking at him.
Although his expression was still the usual indifferent one, Luo Jing inexplicably felt a strange sense of… grievance from him.
Luo Jing: “?”
Was it an illusion caused by the darkness?
This word seemed so out of place with the person in front of him. Luo Jing ran a hand through his hair, trying to wake himself up.
Then he came to a conclusion.
In short, his brother seemed to be in a bad mood.
After returning home, he had originally planned to wait for Huai Dan on the sofa, but perhaps because of the afternoon’s activities and the concert, Luo Jing had fallen asleep without turning on the lights.
And for some reason, Huai Dan hadn’t turned on the lights either when he came back.
The living room was dark, the only light source coming from the buildings outside the floor-to-ceiling window.
They looked at each other for a while, then Huai Dan looked away first.
But the moment his gaze was broken, Luo Jing’s mind caught up.
The image of a yellow rose flashed through his mind, and Luo Jing blinked: “You mean the one from the concert?”
Huai Dan didn’t reply.
Silence meant agreement.
“I gave it to the girl sitting next to me…” After saying this, he suddenly realized something.
He picked up his phone and unlocked it, seeing messages from a few friends besides Huai Dan’s.
Luo Jing sat cross-legged on the sofa and briefly scrolled through the posts, getting a general idea of what had happened.
Huai Dan sat down next to Luo Jing and poured himself a glass of water from the kettle on the coffee table.
After catching up, Luo Jing turned off his phone and looked at Huai Dan.
“Brother, you poured too much,” Luo Jing said after a moment.
Huai Dan’s hand, holding the kettle, paused slightly, then he put it back down.
The water in the glass was almost overflowing.
Luo Jing, looking at his expression, felt a flicker of understanding and slowly moved closer: “Are you unhappy?”
Huai Dan didn’t reply, just took a sip of water.
Luo Jing, however, wasn’t going to let him off so easily. He leaned in slightly, carefully observing his expression: “Why are you unhappy, brother?”
Huai Dan cleared his throat and put the glass on the table: “Is the concert over? Why did you come back so early?”
Luo Jing narrowed his eyes but didn’t answer his question: “You’re unhappy.”
This time, his tone was assertive.
“Because of me?” he asked.
“…” Huai Dan suddenly found tonight’s Luo Jing difficult to handle. After a pause, he said helplessly, “I’m not unhappy.”
“Really?” Luo Jing persisted.
Huai Dan fell silent again.
The first thing he did after coming back was to ask him where the flower was, and his tone was strange… It was hard not to overthink it.
“Brother…” Luo Jing leaned closer, wanting to say something more, but Huai Dan suddenly put a hand on his forehead.
He was instantly silenced.
“…That curious?” Huai Dan asked.
Luo Jing shook his head, freeing himself from Huai Dan’s hand.
Huai Dan felt inexplicably awkward under his gaze and covered his eyes with his hand.
Feeling the warmth on his eyes, Luo Jing blinked, his eyelashes brushing lightly against his palm.
Huai Dan’s hand suddenly stiffened.
“Not curious anymore,” Luo Jing said seriously after a pause.
Huai Dan: “…”
“So why did you come back so early?” Huai Dan asked, putting down his hand, seemingly calm.
“Because my sister told me to come home early and be with you. She said tomorrow…” Luo Jing was immersed in his own thoughts, pondering his new discoveries, and subconsciously blurted it out.
Realizing what he had said halfway through, he instantly shut his mouth, his eyes widening slightly as he looked at Huai Dan, like Plastic Bag when it had done something wrong.
Plastic Bag didn’t understand what the two humans were talking about. It had been lying by the coffee table, and seeing that Luo Jing was still ignoring it, it took the initiative and started pawing at his pants, wanting to play.
Luo Jing picked it up and placed it on his lap, petting it guiltily.
“It’s okay,” Huai Dan chuckled, looking at him. “It’s been a long time.”
Although he wasn’t usually in a good mood around this time of year… tonight should have been even worse.
But now it seemed it wouldn’t be.
“Thank you, Luo Luo,” Huai Dan looked at Luo Jing, smiled after a moment, and said.
“…You’re welcome,” Luo Jing’s thoughts stuttered because of his smile.
Returning to his room, Luo Jing opened his phone, found Wu Li, and ignoring the posts he had forwarded him, started typing.
AAA.Internship Seal Wholesaler Xiao Luo: [I think]
Luo Jing’s fingers paused, as if hesitating, then he continued typing: [He might also like me.]
The topic change was too abrupt, and Wu Li didn’t react immediately, thinking he was talking about Xie You: [Isn’t that obvious? His expression was really strange.]
Wu Li: […Wait, “also,” what do you mean?]
Wu Li: [Who are you talking about?]
The corners of Luo Jing’s lips curved upwards slightly: [I’m talking about my brother.]

Wu Li: [???]
The concert ended, but the online discussion continued, and the comments under that photo had exploded.
Netizens could ship anyone and anything these days, and with their identities and appearances, Luo Jing and Xie You had always had many CP fans. After Luo Jing became an adult, it intensified, even surpassing the popularity of all other CPs within the group.
And because there was no conflict of interest, and being close to the boss’s son was actually beneficial for Xie You’s future development, compared to other teammates’ CPs, his solo fans were more accepting of Luo Jing.
Tonight was a celebration for CP fans, and solo fans also quietly admired their visuals and enjoyed the fan-made content. Only a few girlfriend fans and toxic solo stans couldn’t accept the CP fans’ excitement.
[I’m dead, I’m dead, who understands the atmosphere of this picture? Mom, is this even real life?]
[As a CP fan, I’ve turned into a screaming chicken tonight. Luo Luo hasn’t posted on Weibo for so long, and his comeback is huge. I was almost ready to accept that they were going to be BE.]
[But, isn’t Xie You just trying to avoid suspicion? It’s a smart move, since Young Master Luo was right there. Or maybe this was a planned segment, with Young Master Luo as a special guest or something, wouldn’t that generate buzz?]
[I understand the logic, but this picture is truly amazing. Can we use it as the super topic’s profile picture forever?!]
[Even if it’s just fanservice, I’ll take it! It feels like all their past interactions have come full circle. This sense of fate is so good.]
[And Luo Luo still only follows Xie You. I don’t believe there’s nothing between them!]
[Stop shipping them, Young Master Luo just followed all the Luminary members and the group’s official account.]
Luo Jing posted a few pictures he had taken at the concert, briefly praising Luminary’s performance, and the members reposted them, as if concluding tonight’s events.
The fansite manager who posted that picture updated her Weibo not long after, posting a picture of the rose alone, tagging Luo Jing and captioning it: [Luo Luo is such a nice person. He was sitting next to me today, and when he left, he gave me the flower, saying it belonged to the fans. I’ll treasure it forever, also looking for reliable dried flower making tutorials.]
Xie You liked her post.
In the dormitory, Xie You was sitting on the sofa, looking at his phone. Xu Xing, passing by with a plate of fruit, said enviously, “Still looking at Weibo? When will I get this kind of popularity?”
He sat down next to Xie You and said regretfully, “Sigh, I also wanted to give a flower to Young Master Luo, but I couldn’t find him.”
“Your eyes are sharp,” he said.
Xie You was silent for a moment: “I wasn’t doing it for popularity.”
“?” Xu Xing’s chewing stopped, his cheeks puffed out comically, like a hamster storing food.
After a pause, he continued chewing and mumbled, “Then why? To avoid suspicion? That makes sense. As expected of our leader, always so thoughtful…”
Xie You’s popularity was significantly higher than the other members, and he also had the largest proportion of girlfriend fans.
Thinking about it this way, his actions were very smart. He wouldn’t be misunderstood, or have his actions misinterpreted by the media later, and no girls would be subjected to any negativity because of receiving a flower from him.
Believing he had figured out the truth, Xu Xing took another bite of the apple.
“No, because I like him,” Xie You said, lowering his eyes.
“Huh? Cough, cough, cough…” Xu Xing was shocked by his words, then almost choked on the apple.
All his questions from the afternoon were answered, and he now understood why that segment had been moved earlier. After recovering, he looked at Xie You with a complicated expression: “You…”
Then he patted his leader’s back, a silent comfort.
After finishing everything, Huai Dan glanced at the closed guest room door, lowered his eyes, and walked to the door, but stopped before opening it.
Then he paused, turned around, and sat down on the sofa.
It was 8 a.m. on Sunday morning. Not only Luo Jing, but even Plastic Bag, was still fast asleep in its bed.
Huai Dan’s gaze lingered on the black TV screen for a moment, suddenly finding his current behavior amusing.
They hadn’t made any plans last night, and he didn’t understand why he was sitting here.
After a moment of silence, Huai Dan was about to get up and leave, thinking about whether to bring something back for Luo Jing’s lunch or just order takeout.
“Brother, are you waiting for me?”
Behind him, accompanied by the sound of the door opening, the boy’s clear voice sounded, not at all drowsy.
Huai Dan: “…”
“Mm,” he replied after a pause, a hint of helplessness in his voice.
Receiving the answer he wanted, Luo Jing smiled: “I’ll wait with you.”
