Brother, Don’t Delete Me! 63

Chapter 63: Close

Luo Jing froze slightly upon hearing this and instinctively glanced at his phone.

Huai Dan also looked down.

Seeing the unread messages from Huai Dan, Luo Jing felt a pang of guilt and explained, “I didn’t do it on purpose, I just wasn’t looking at my phone.”

Huai Dan didn’t reply, but shifted his gaze from the phone screen to his face, staring intently at him for several seconds.

Luo Jing: “?”

“Why don’t you want to be with me?” Huai Dan asked softly, lowering his eyes.

The break room was quiet. Although the muffled voices of employees could be heard from outside the glass door, it only made this space seem even quieter.

Luo Jing felt wrongly accused.

“Why would you think that…” he asked, his eyes wide with disbelief, feeling like he couldn’t explain himself.

“Your workstation is right next to mine,” Huai Dan continued, as if not seeing his expression. “But you always run off somewhere.”

Luo Jing: “…”

Luo Jing glanced at the time and realized he had only been gone for a little over half an hour.

So he showed Huai Dan the time on his phone and stated his observation.

Huai Dan, however, blinked slowly and took his phone, putting it aside.

As if he didn’t want to argue with him logically.

Luo Jing’s gaze followed his phone as it was placed on the counter behind him.

“I didn’t realize before…” Luo Jing turned back, about to speak, but then noticed that Huai Dan hadn’t withdrawn his hand.

Then, while he was still in a daze, Huai Dan’s other hand landed on the counter on his other side, trapping him between his arms.

The distance between them instantly shortened. Luo Jing instinctively took a step back, his lower back hitting the counter with the coffee machines, leaving him with nowhere to retreat.

He instinctively put his hands behind him, one hand landing on his innocently implicated phone, the other accidentally pressing down on the back of Huai Dan’s hand.

But neither of them withdrew their hands.

Huai Dan leaned in closer, looking down at him, his expression still indifferent.

But Luo Jing felt he looked different from usual.

…As if something was about to happen.

He looked away flusteredly.

Two voices suddenly sounded from outside the door, approaching. It was two girls chatting as they walked towards the break room.

“Mr. Huai is in a relationship? Really?”

“Probably, everyone’s talking about it.”

Some words, as they spread, would become distorted. It had initially just been a guess, but with more and more people saying it, it had somehow become a statement of fact.

“With who? Oh my god, it can’t be someone from the company, right?”

“Maybe it’s a business marriage or something? Don’t all the bosses do that, finding someone of equal social standing…”

“But no one can force Mr. Huai into a marriage, right?”

“That’s true… Sigh, I wonder what his wife is like, I’m so envious.”

“Don’t assume it’s a woman, maybe it’s a man… Do you like Mr. Huai?”

“N-no, I wouldn’t dare to dream of such a thing. Although Mr. Huai is really handsome, as an NPC, I just hope he’ll give me a bonus if he’s happy enough.”

Luo Jing was forced to listen to their conversation, his ears turning increasingly red. He could only stare at his shoes, feeling inexplicably guilty and flustered.

“…And wouldn’t dating him be freezing? Just imagine, I’m already scared. Wouldn’t their dates just be working together in a cafe?”

“That’s actually quite possible… Hey? Why is it locked? Is someone inside?”

Someone pushed the door, and Luo Jing could see the faint outline of a hand on the glass.

The break room’s glass door was frosted, so they couldn’t see inside when it was closed, but even so, he still couldn’t help but feel nervous and instinctively placed a hand on Huai Dan’s chest, pushing him slightly.

Huai Dan, however, grabbed his wrist.

From the hallway, a colleague seemed to have reminded the two girls of something, and they instantly fell silent. Their footsteps faded away, and the door became quiet again.

Luo Jing’s heart raced. Huai Dan lowered his eyes, his gaze sweeping over the hand on his chest, then looked back at him.

Then, after a moment of thought, he lowered his head and kissed him.

Luo Jing: “!”

He was so startled by the touch on his lips that his heart skipped a beat, and the hand on Huai Dan’s chest instinctively clutched his shirt.

…Although he had vaguely anticipated it, it was still too sudden.

The touch on his lips was unexpectedly soft, and Luo Jing instinctively closed his eyes, feeling his heart pounding.

Huai Dan gently nibbled on his lips, his movements gentle. Luo Jing was still a bit dazed and passively accepted it.

His mind was blank, and he only had one thought.

…This was a bit too much.

Gradually, his hand was guided away from Huai Dan’s chest, and he instinctively grabbed the hem of his shirt.

Without the obstruction, Huai Dan took a step forward, the distance between them shortening, and Luo Jing’s mind became even more muddled.

After a while, he started to respond hesitantly.

After who knows how long, the kiss ended, and Huai Dan gently bit his lower lip, then pulled away slightly.

They were very close, and he looked down at Luo Jing, whose eyes were slightly red, his expression dazed, his lips also unusually red from the kiss.

After a pause, he asked softly, “Want to have a business marriage with me?”

Luo Jing: “…”

Luo Jing took a shallow breath.

He was still a bit dazed.

Before he could say anything, a phone suddenly rang. They both instinctively looked towards the sound and realized it was Luo Jing’s phone.

Luo Jing closed his eyes, calmed down for a moment, then reached for his phone.

“Sister” was displayed on the screen. Huai Dan also glanced at it.

Luo Jing was about to answer when he saw that Huai Dan didn’t seem to intend to move away, but continued to maintain their current position.

So he looked at Huai Dan with a hint of warning.

But because his eyes were still slightly teary from the kiss, it didn’t seem very threatening.

Huai Dan kissed him again without hesitation, then looked at Luo Jing’s phone and simply said, “Answer it.”

Luo Jing: “…”

He took a breath.

Then, with a straight face and flushed ears, he swiped to answer the call.

“Hello,” Luo Feng’s voice sounded, carrying a casualness that contrasted sharply with the current atmosphere. “Have you had lunch yet?”

“…Not yet,” Luo Jing cleared his throat and replied.

“Huai Dan isn’t feeding you?” Luo Feng asked.

“…” Luo Jing really wanted to remind his sister that the person in question was right there listening, but he clearly didn’t have the chance.

The man in front of him listened to their conversation with an indifferent expression.

“No, I’m not very hungry yet,” Luo Jing said, quickly getting to the point. “What’s up?”

Calling him in this situation was too strange, and he just wanted to end it quickly.

“Nothing much,” Luo Feng said casually. “How’s the internship going?”

“It’s good,” Luo Jing replied.

“That’s good,” Luo Feng nodded. “It’s been a while… I think it’s about time.”

“You can’t stay at his house forever. Do you want to come back to the company? By the way, ask Huai Dan when he’s free. I want to treat him to dinner to thank him for taking care of you…”

Luo Jing blinked in confusion and instinctively looked at Huai Dan.

Huai Dan met his gaze calmly and raised his chin slightly, signaling Luo Jing to continue.

So Luo Jing looked back at his phone screen.

Their thoughts were silently connected at this moment.

…Going back was out of the question.

And… he had just moved into Huai Dan’s room yesterday.

So Luo Jing said, decisively refusing, “No.”

Luo Feng was slightly taken aback, then said with a smile, “You can stay a few more days if you want, as long as he’s willing to let you stay… Don’t tell me you have a crush on him?”

Luo Jing: “???”

He froze, then looked at his phone screen in shock, his finally calmed heartbeat racing again.

But this time, it was from guilt.

…Why did his sister always manage to hit such strange nerves?

Thinking this, he instinctively glanced at Huai Dan again.

The man hadn’t moved away, and their posture was intimate and ambiguous. He had heard every word from the phone.

Huai Dan’s eyes were half-closed, a hint of amusement in them.

…It inexplicably made him feel annoyed.

Huai Dan sensed his mood and, although feeling a bit wronged, rubbed the back of his neck in appeasement.

But once he started touching him, he seemed unable to stop.

It was a simple gesture, but it seemed to carry a different meaning.

“…” Then Luo Jing became even more flustered.

However, Luo Feng on the other end of the phone was also silent.

Her smile vanished under Luo Jing’s silence.

She had initially just been joking.

This had been a popular meme online recently, so she had asked half-jokingly, without any other meaning, and she hadn’t actually thought it was true.

It was too absurd.

But what did Luo Jing’s strange silence mean?

Something seemed wrong.

When she spoke again, her voice was serious: “Luo Jing?”

“Huh? I’m here,” Luo Jing replied after two seconds, his voice slightly flustered.

Luo Feng: “…”

Damn.

She picked up her coffee and took a sip, her hand trembling slightly. Then, after a pause, she spoke again, her voice tinged with disbelief and forced calmness: “What do you mean? You don’t actually like him, do you?”

The boy on the other end of the phone was silent again.

Luo Feng put down her coffee with a straight face.

She really wanted to hang up right now.

As long as she didn’t open the box, she wouldn’t know what was inside.

Although she had already vaguely anticipated the answer from Luo Jing’s triple silence.

“Mm,” after a moment, Luo Jing replied.

His voice was soft, as if guilty.

But Luo Feng heard him clearly.

Luo Feng: “…”

She closed her eyes, and when she spoke again, her voice was filled with regret and exasperation: “…Get your ass back here! Huai Dan is going to be pissed!”

Status: Completed Author: Native Language: Chinese
When Luo Jing was fourteen, because he was too handsome, his older sister, worried about his future dating prospects, brought home an even more handsome boyfriend for the New Year. The guy's name was Huai Dan. He was somewhat taciturn and had a face as indifferent as his name. Mom and Dad seemed very happy, probably because their daughter, who looked like she was going to be single forever, had finally found a decent guy. Luo Jing was also very happy because this older brother was incredibly good at video games. Huai Dan stayed at their house for over a month, and Luo Jing pestered him every day to play games and rank up. As a result, he thrived among his friends throughout the entire holiday, his game ranking soaring. Luo Jing was more than satisfied with this prospective brother-in-law. He felt that no other man would be more suitable to join his family than Brother Huai! It was just a little strange that his sister and her boyfriend didn't seem very close. Suppressing his unease, Luo Jing continued to happily interact with his prospective brother-in-law. Then one day, his premonition came true. His sister and her boyfriend broke up! Luo Jing felt like a bolt from the blue. Thinking of all the videos and posts he had seen about couples relentlessly erasing all traces of each other from their lives after breaking up, a huge sense of crisis swept over him. He quickly opened his messaging app. Luo Jing: [Big Brother, don't delete me!] In a panic, Luo Jing blurted out: [Actually, I have another older sister who lives abroad. I'll introduce her to you!] Huai Dan: [?]
He agreed. Thus began a rather strange "online relationship."
Later, as Luo Jing grew up, he belatedly realized how childish this behavior was. So he made his "second older sister" break up overnight and planned to fade out of his brother's life for a while. They met again when Luo Jing finished university and returned home for an internship. He discovered that the client he was liaising with was the very person he had inadvertently deceived for so long. An immense sense of guilt washed over him. "Where's your second older sister?" The most dreaded question finally came. "Dead... Dead." Luo Jing hung his head, scanning the floor, wishing he could find a crack to disappear into. The man was silent for a moment, then let out a soft chuckle. "Don't curse yourself like that, Luo Luo."
