Zhong Nian was not particularly afraid of what the Kidnapper Boss had said.
He had experienced such things before; he was no stranger to them.
So when the man wanted to bind him, he sat on the bed and waited quietly, his mindset calm.
In the pitch darkness, he heard the man rummaging through some cabinet, not knowing what was inside as things clinked and clanged against each other.
Before long, the cabinet door closed, and the man returned to the bedside. He moved with ease, either due to exceptional night vision or complete familiarity with the room.
Before the man could issue his cold command, Zhong Nian had already taken the initiative to raise his hands and extend them.
“…” The man paused without moving. “You’re not afraid?”
“I am.” He said as much, but Zhong Nian’s voice remained calm, devoid of any trace of fear.
“What do you take me for?” Unexpectedly, the man seemed provoked. He suddenly seized both of Zhong Nian’s wrists and yanked him, causing him to topple sideways onto the bed.
Zhong Nian felt the man’s body pressing toward him, one hand bracing at his other side near his waist, enveloping him almost entirely with his frame.
Even in the darkness, where nothing was visible, an intangible pressure bore down. Zhong Nian unconsciously held his breath and swallowed.
“Why aren’t you afraid?” the man pressed him. “Do you think I won’t really hurt you? Just because I…”
The words cut off abruptly. Puzzled, Zhong Nian lifted his gaze. After hearing the man’s breathing grow heavier, he cautiously spoke up. “Sorry.”
He hadn’t been afraid moments ago, but the shift in position and atmosphere now truly made his heart race.
Fortunately, the meek apology worked. The man said nothing more, lifted his wrists, and bound them.
Unlike the ropes or shackles Zhong Nian had imagined, it was a softer fabric, tied loosely enough not to cause discomfort.
Before he could bind his feet or eyes, a knock sounded at the door.
“Boss, something happened outside…”
The man responded but showed no hurry to leave. His hand lingered at Zhong Nian’s wrists, adjusting the bindings. His fingers slipped into the gap and tugged lightly, seemingly checking the tightness.
In the process, he inevitably tickled Zhong Nian’s wrists.
Due to the itch, Zhong Nian couldn’t help but twitch, then suddenly went rigid all over.
The man’s palm pressed against his stomach, exploring slowly, though it was unclear what he intended.
Zhong Nian’s mind flashed with horrifying images of vivisection. He didn’t even dare breathe, tensing his abdomen.
But the man asked, “You haven’t had breakfast yet?”
Zhong Nian was taken aback. “…I have.”
“What did you eat?”
After a half-second hesitation, Zhong Nian answered, “A cup of soy milk and a steamed bun.”
The man sounded slightly displeased. “I remember we didn’t skimp on food for you crew members.”
Zhong Nian explained, “It was too busy in the morning. I didn’t have time, so I just grabbed a little something.”
The man said nothing more and rose to head for the door. As he was about to close it, he added, “I’ll be back soon.”
Zhong Nian lay on the bed watching him and nodded.
Once everything returned to silent darkness, Zhong Nian settled back and let out a long yawn.
There was nothing to be done; he had barely slept last night because of Ke Zhengchu. Even in this situation, drowsiness overtook him.
Moreover, the single bed beneath him was surprisingly soft, with a spring mattress—unlike the hard wooden board in his dormitory, padded only with a few thin quilts.
Thinking about it, this outcome wasn’t so bad. At least he didn’t have to worry about how to face Ke Zhengchu back in the dormitory that night.
This roommate was no longer the roommate of before. What if he clung to him demanding slaps again?
Zhong Nian disliked hitting people; it hurt his hand and was exhausting.
Now it was fine—no need to worry.
Staying here wasn’t bad either. No work, and food and drink delivered.
The surroundings were dark and quiet, unlikely to be disturbed while he slept…
With such thoughts, Zhong Nian’s eyelids grew heavier.
【The wife just fell asleep so heartlessly like that.】
【Even if there’s no harsh torture, you still need to watch out for that dog man’s ill intentions, ahhh.】
【Kept like this as a pet by the scheming dog boss.】
【The bound and sleeping wife—another prime opportunity.】
【I could watch sleep stream all day.】
【Muah.】

Cruise Ship 6th Floor.
At the long table in the casino, four men sat around it.
“Where did you take him?” Zhan Lu’s brows furrowed deeply as he stared straight at the man seated at the head.
Charles remained silent, also awaiting an answer.
The youth grinned cheekily. “Second Brother, he’s a traitor. Of course he needs to be locked up for a proper interrogation. Boss, why don’t you hand him over to me? You know I’m the best at loosening tongues. I’ve never pried open one as pretty as his~”
The Black-Clothed Man raised his eyes, silencing the chattering youth. Then, indifferently, he turned to Zhan Lu. “You urgently summoned me here just to ask about this?”
Zhan Lu didn’t evade, nodding frankly. “It’s very important to me.”
“I should have told you long ago.” The man looked toward Charles. “He doesn’t like you two.”
