Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 29: Asking for Leave

Shen Zhixiao heard his voice, and scalding tears dripped onto Qiu Sui’s neck.

His hand gripped Qiu Sui’s wrist tightly, his bloodshot eyes staring straight at the Beta, fangs bared in his mouth as he growled on the verge of losing control. “Let go… just Mark… Baby… You said… Mark…”

Shen Zhixiao kept pleading with the words they’d agreed on earlier, no different from a stray dog begging on the roadside. Even his frenzied roars were just desperate pleas for Qiu Sui’s response.

He could tear and grab without restraint, but a taut string in his mind held him rigidly in place. He could only lower his head to nuzzle Qiu Sui’s cheek repeatedly, his uncontrollable fangs grazing the other’s delicate skin as his massive body trembled uncontrollably.

Pitifully, Shen Zhixiao kissed the Beta’s cheek, his sword-like brows furrowed in agony. Every breath felt like it was ripping his body apart, and he murmured brokenly, “It hurts so much… Baby… I need you… Need to Mark you…”

Half of Qiu Sui’s face was rubbed damp by the other man, the brush of fangs against his skin sending tingles across his scalp. His fingers, buried in Shen Zhixiao’s hair, tightened slightly, his breathing growing heated.

He fluttered his eyelids reluctantly, wrestling with the decision. If nothing else works, just let him bite once. Maybe that’ll calm him down.

After all, he was a Beta—he couldn’t be Temporarily Marked. It’d just hurt, nothing more…

Feeling the hot presence shifting against his cheek, Qiu Sui closed his eyes to steady himself. His breathing erratic, he loosened his hand covering his neck bit by bit, exposing his Gland. As Shen Zhixiao eagerly leaned in, Qiu Sui hurriedly shoved his face away and compromised. “After you bite, go inject Suppressant.”

The Alpha’s eyes lit up. He rasped an agreement and buried himself impatiently in Qiu Sui’s neck.

Qiu Sui awkwardly tilted his head to the left, baring his side neck. When he felt those lips press against that vulnerable skin, he bit down in panic, his body shuddering sensitively beyond his control.

Though Qiu Sui remembered last night’s events, not every detail was crystal clear—the later parts felt shrouded in a thin fog. His mind and body recalled those sensations vividly, yet they didn’t feel entirely real.

Until now, fully awake, he felt Shen Zhixiao press in dominantly, that ambiguous, entwining sensation spreading through his entire body once more.

Panic hit him like a conditioned reflex, his legs drawing together instinctively. The next second, a sharp sensation pierced the licked-wet spot on his nape.

Qiu Sui’s arms around Shen Zhixiao’s neck tightened subconsciously, fingers clenching in panic. But after several seconds, the excruciating pain he’d imagined didn’t come.

Shen Zhixiao rubbed his fangs teasingly over the Gland like he was savoring it, the sharp sensation pricking like fine needles, bringing a dense itchiness that made Qiu Sui uncomfortable. Unable to hold back, the hand on the other’s neck smacked that head lightly in shameful urging. “Hurry… up… uh…”

The moment he made a sound, Shen Zhixiao bit down eagerly with mischievous intent. His sharp fangs pierced the thin skin, plunging almost instantly deep into the Gland.

Qiu Sui let out an uncontrollable scream from the sudden attack. Searing pain radiated from his nape, pinning his entire body in place, rendering him frozen and unable to move.

Shen Zhixiao’s palm pressed against Qiu Sui’s lower back, stroking upward intimately. The loose shirt lifted slightly, revealing the marked chest and abdomen beneath.

All of Qiu Sui’s senses focused on his nape, where he vividly felt a massive surge of Pheromones domineeringly injected from Shen Zhixiao’s fangs, trying to fuse with his body—only to swirl futilely inside the Gland.

A Beta’s Gland could only hold a tiny amount of Pheromones. They quickly filled every crevice in that small patch of skin, the excess cruelly blocked outside, driving the S-Rank Alpha nearly mad.

Qiu Sui’s nape felt injected with blazing fire—swollen and agonizing. He gasped heavily, a thin sheen of sweat beading on his forehead.

That should be enough. His weakening fingers tugged at Shen Zhixiao’s nape, urging him to let go.

But Shen Zhixiao kept trying to force more Pheromones in, only for them to be repelled every time.

Under Qiu Sui’s urging, he let out pained whimpers, crying as he licked and teased the bitten wound. He could only catch a faint whiff of Green Tea Pheromone from his partner.

The sensation of his Gland being licked was too stimulating for the sober Qiu Sui. Trembling, he shoved that head away, propping himself up weakly on the bed. Dizzy and muddled, he urged, “Go… go inject Suppressant.”

The pushed-away head slowly crept back, as if Shen Zhixiao couldn’t understand words. He hugged Qiu Sui, wanting to lick more. Qiu Sui’s body went soft; unable to hold his temper, he shoved again. “Stop licking.”

The Alpha who’d bitten and Marked was a bit clearer-headed than before, but still restless. Feeling that touch against his inner thigh, Qiu Sui shivered and drew his legs back, sitting up. He grabbed a pair of shorts nearby and flung them at the other’s face, seizing the moment of relative clarity to make him put them on.

He avoided looking at the invigorated Alpha opposite him, twisting to rummage nearby for pants—but found nothing.

How?

Qiu Sui clutched the oversized shirt, enduring shame and stiffness as he rolled around on the bed. Really, no sign of last night’s clothes or pants.

We took them off when we entered the room…

Glancing back at Shen Zhixiao, now wearing the only pants, Qiu Sui felt mortified and annoyed. In the end, he grabbed a jacket, tied it around his waist, and struggled off the bed.

The Alpha lunged tensely, nearly toppling the unsteady Qiu Sui to the floor.

His back pressed against Shen Zhixiao’s scorching chest and abdomen, tailbone knocked hard. Scalp numb, he elbowed back to make him let go.

“No… no… Baby…” The other stubbornly locked his arms around Qiu Sui’s chest, his massive frame enveloping him completely. Head buried at the back of Qiu Sui’s, he focused on licking the wound on the Gland. One step for Qiu Sui, one step for him.

Qiu Sui had no strength left to wrestle. Unable to break free, he endured the numbing soreness and headed to the study, thinking Suppressant should fix everything.

The study was a mess from last night. Qiu Sui elbowed the Alpha behind him to find Suppressant, but the other ignored him, lips grinding against his nape.

Qiu Sui skirted the used Suppressants and yanked open a drawer by the safe, revealing various vials.

Unsure of the differences, to be safe he picked the type Shen Zhixiao had used last night, loaded the injector, grabbed the other’s arm, hesitated as he compared, then jabbed it in based on experience from injecting Qiu Shun.

The Alpha behind him grew agitated as the drug entered, but Qiu Sui finished the five-second injection, pulled out, and pressed a cotton swab to stop the bleeding, watching for changes.

“…Hurts… hurts… Baby.” Shen Zhixiao’s head moved from behind to the front, his pained expression pressing against Qiu Sui’s cheek, seeking his lips.

Qiu Sui dodged in panic, only feeling the warm touch on his cheek. His fingers tightened on the swab momentarily, noting the dropping temperature. He pushed the shoulders tentatively. “Shen Zhixiao.”

“Let go of me first.”

The Suppressant had somewhat controlled Shen Zhixiao’s Pheromones, but his mind still burned with the desire to Mark Qiu Sui—an instinctive craving. His hands clung relentlessly, unwilling to stop.

Seeing no reaction, Qiu Sui eyed the vials from last night hesitantly. Three at once?

Wary, he grabbed another Suppressant from the drawer, but this time Shen Zhixiao wouldn’t cooperate.

The feverish palm gripped Qiu Sui’s wrist holding the injector, immobilizing it. Panting roughly by his ear, he slurred, “Mark… first.”

Qiu Sui’s heart skipped, thinking he’d relapsed. He warily covered his neck.

Feeling the Alpha nuzzle his neck without temperature spike, Qiu Sui realized belatedly—this was negotiation.

He nearly smashed the Suppressant into that face. Are you okay? You’re the one suffering without it, not me.

Shen Zhixiao kept nudging the hand over the Gland. Minutes later, sensing the fading Pheromones on Qiu Sui, he grew restless again.

Qiu Sui knew he was much better than before. Pinching the injector, he shouldered him hard and turned to stare into those eager eyes. “You’re not in that much pain anymore. Let go first.”

The Alpha didn’t want to, pitifully nuzzling his shoulder, but relented shrewdly, one hand still gripping Qiu Sui’s shirt at the waist to prevent escape.

Without that hard pressure at his back, Qiu Sui sighed in relief and, sore all over, went to his backpack in the corner.

Unsure of the time, he had classes afternoon and evening. He probably couldn’t attend like this, but he couldn’t skip entirely.

Qiu Sui pulled out his phone to message his counselor for leave, but it shut down upon lighting up—past eleven, battery dead—filling him with despair.

He dug out his power bank, plugged in, spotted his scattered clothes, and felt a strong urge to shower from the stickiness—but held back, stuffing them into the bag to handle after leave.

While charging, Qiu Sui glanced back at Shen Zhixiao.

The man stared unblinkingly, like eyeing fresh prey, throat bobbing to reveal fangs—proof the S-Rank Alpha still craved Marking him.

Qiu Sui couldn’t fathom why Shen Zhixiao liked him, or when it started.

He kept saying he wanted to be friends—did it begin then? But he recalled Shen Zhixiao and Qiu Shun under the streetlamp off-campus that day, mind muddled as he pursed his lips.

The rebooted phone buzzed with messages. Qiu Sui opened it; the man behind leaned in blatantly, peeking.

Unsure if Shen Zhixiao could read now, and nothing secret anyway, Qiu Sui ignored him and checked WeChat.

Qiu Shun and Qiao Keren had messaged the group around nine, inviting him for lunch. Now past eleven, he fibbed he’d overslept.

They’d guessed as much, unsurprised—they’d eaten and were chatting tomorrow’s plans.

Qiu Sui thought of his state and swollen nape—tomorrow would be no better; they’d spot it immediately. Anxiously tugging his hair, he didn’t know what to do.

Qiao Keren: My dormmates want to hike. Temps dropping, not so hot.

Qiu Shun agreed readily.

Seeing “hike,” Qiu Sui’s butt twinged. He excused himself out for tomorrow—accompanying a friend for birthday.

Qiao Keren: ? Which friend?

Qiao Keren: Xiao Mu?

Qiu Sui’s eyelid twitched at Xiao Mu—though unintentional, a key factor in this mess.

He replied almost instantly: No.

Qiao Keren: Didn’t know you had other friends.

Qiao Keren: Does Shun’er know?

Qiu Shun: No.

Qiao Keren: Hmph hmph, secrets then.

Seeing no reply, Qiu Shun @’d him.

Qiao Keren ramped up: Bet it’s your ambiguous crush?!

Qiao Keren: No wonder you said you wanted a partner—do you have a target?!

Qiao Keren: Knew it, knew it.

Qiu Sui: I don’t!

Qiu Sui: Just an ordinary friend.

After sending those words, Qiu Sui flushed with embarrassment. He turned to message his counselor first, requesting leave to calm down.

Theoretically, it was hard to get leave approved the day before vacation, but their counselor was easygoing and quickly approved it.

Qiu Sui checked the group chat again. Qiao Keren and Qiu Shun had been having a field day teasing him, but they’d already moved on to other topics.

He breathed a sigh of relief and exited the chat interface. When he turned back, he found the Alpha staring fixatedly at his phone screen, a fierce aura brewing between his brows.

Qiu Sui followed his gaze and saw dozens of messages from Xiao Mu.

He waved his finger over them, but Shen Zhixiao kept glaring at those two characters, his resentment barely concealed.

Qiu Sui covered Xiao Mu’s name, and the other’s expression improved instantly. But the next second, he tapped into the chat. The Alpha lunged forward in fury, snatching his phone away.

Afraid the guy would send something reckless, Qiu Sui reached to grab it back. “I won’t look, I won’t look! Give me back my phone,” he said hurriedly.

Shen Zhixiao stared at the few lines on the screen with surging emotion, his steady Pheromones showing signs of roiling once more.

The blood vessels in his body heated and throbbed wildly. Before Qiu Sui could snatch the phone back, his fingers tapped into the account and directly deleted Xiao Mu from WeChat. With a dark expression, he let out a righteous grunt: “No. You can’t be with him.”

Qiu Sui stared at Shen Zhixiao in shock. In that moment, Xiao Mu’s words from last night flashed inappropriately in his mind—that Shen Zhixiao seemed to dislike him. It turned out it was true.

He grabbed his phone back and looked at the deleted contact. After a moment of awkward hesitation, he thought, Whatever, it’s deleted now. He can explain in person if they meet.

After last night’s events, Qiu Sui had planned to keep his distance from Xiao Mu anyway.

Lost in thought, a scorching heat pressed against his back once more. He froze and turned to find Shen Zhixiao—who had seemed normal just moments ago—once again overtaken by restless desire on his face. His palm pressed against Qiu Sui’s shoulder, revealing sharp fangs itching to bite.

Qiu Sui startled and grabbed the Suppressant from earlier, hurrying to inject it. Shen Zhixiao swiftly seized his wrist, forehead veins throbbing as he lunged toward the Gland.

Qiu Sui’s nape Gland was still throbbing and swollen—he had no desire to relive the sensation of being forcibly flooded with Pheromones. He clutched Shen Zhixiao’s hair, yanking his head slightly aside, and brushed his lips ever so lightly against the Alpha’s cheek.

The restless Alpha sensed the soft touch on his cheek and froze solid, his heavy breaths halting in place. Before he could savor it, the next second, a thick syringe of Suppressant plunged steadily into his arm.

Qiu Sui rubbed that head with one hand while pushing the plunger all the way with the other and quickly pulling the needle out.

Shen Zhixiao’s flushed face revealed a trace of incredulous hurt. He gazed at Qiu Sui, a teardrop welling in his eyes.

Qiu Sui tossed the syringe aside and averted his gaze uncomfortably. He wanted to get up and grab a few more Suppressants from the drawer just in case—with Shen Zhixiao’s current state, one dose wouldn’t hold him for more than twenty minutes.

But Shen Zhixiao clutched Qiu Sui’s clothes tightly, refusing to let him move. His body temperature had already returned to normal. With those teary eyes fixed on Qiu Sui, his other hand touched his own cheek, voice choked: “…More.”
