Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 6: Coveting

In the blink of an eye, the day of military training arrived, and nothing out of the ordinary happened around Qiu Sui.

Thanks to his timely evasions, he hadn’t run into Shen Zhixiao again. His sleep at night improved greatly, and he finally stopped having nightmares. His mental state during the day gradually recovered.

Each department trained at different venues. Qiu Sui and Qiao Keren were in the same major, so their spots were close, but Qiu Shun’s Differentiation Research College was almost in the opposite direction from the School of Computer Science.

The Differentiation Research College and Art College were nearby, with the highest number of Omegas. Their training consisted of lighter, more performative routines.

Once Qiao Keren found out, he regretted it endlessly. The other colleges had separated the Omegas into their own units with reduced intensity compared to Alphas and Betas, but standing at attention and marching drills for hours were still grueling. He cried, wishing he could turn back time and switch to the biology training class with Qiu Shun.

It wasn’t surprising that Qiao Keren couldn’t hold back his tears. The Betas trained at high intensity alongside the Alphas, and even Qiu Sui was struggling a bit. The school’s medical station was constantly busy with people fainting and chugging saltwater-sugar solutions.

The separated Omega squads were usually positioned opposite the Alpha squads, intended to motivate each other. In reality, only the Alphas trying to catch the Omegas’ attention would cheer for extra practice.

Qiu Sui’s company had this exact issue. Every time they got a five-minute break, he sat exhausted on the scorching grass, head drooping with his flushed, feverish face as he caught his breath.

No Omega would be interested in those Alphas jumping around and hollering like primitives.

But those Alphas thought they were radiating charm, and some even got Omegas approaching them proactively.

During that morning’s twenty-minute free break, when an Omega headed toward their company, the Alphas perked up one after another. Casually rolling up their camouflage sleeves, they started doing push-ups.

Qiu Sui found a shady spot to sit, took off his hat to smooth out his flattened hair, and propped up his buzzing head with his eyes closed in fatigue.

Suddenly, a chill shocked his arm.

Qiu Sui groggily opened his eyes and tilted his head left. In his vision, he only caught two backsides darting away… and a bottle of ice-cold purified water placed beside his hand.

The Alphas propping themselves up fifty meters away grumbled in dissatisfaction upon seeing this, their glares toward the Betas filled with resentment.

Qiu Sui wiped the sweat from his temple, scooted his butt away from the water a bit, and leaned down curiously to check the note stuck on the bottle.

The condensation had blurred the writing somewhat, but the words were still legible.

[Handsome, hi! I’ve had my eye on you for two days, wuwuwu. You’re nothing like those cringey show-off Alphas. I really like you. Can we exchange contacts? My WeChat is ………, pleeease >v<]

Qiu Sui finished reading and quickly looked up. The two Omegas were almost back at their camp opposite, waving at him from afar.

Qiu Sui awkwardly cleared his throat. Clearly, they’d mistaken him for an Alpha.

With the surrounding Alphas eyeing him hostilely, Qiu Sui didn’t want to embarrass that Omega, so he pocketed the water. He peeled off the note, searched for the WeChat ID on his phone to send a friend request, then stuffed the paper deep into his pocket.

As he stood with the water in hand, he watched the friend request get accepted on his screen. He promptly transferred the money for the water and explained his secondary gender.

The Omega was embarrassed for a few seconds before sending a barrage of cute apology stickers.

Qiu Sui headed toward the quieter restroom, glancing down at his phone. He felt a bit regretful—if only Omegas were open to Betas. He actually really liked Omegas.

As he thought this, his vision suddenly went dark. A camouflage jacket had been thrown over his head.

Qiu Sui’s heart clenched instantly. His hands and feet thrashed with explosive force.

But the other had already seized his wrists the moment he’d let his guard down. His legs were clamped tight by a long, powerful hand, rendering him immobile.

Qiu Sui’s limbs flailed uselessly as the other slammed him through an unknown door.

The bottle of water from the Omega slipped from his grasp in the struggle, shattering against the ground with a crash that echoed alongside the slamming door in the empty space.

Qiu Sui’s back pressed flush against the culprit’s chest and abdomen. Every time he strained, he felt those solid muscles contract—that was the other exerting force to control him.

The other was definitely an Alpha, with strength far beyond Qiu Sui’s.

Qiu Sui’s hands and feet went ice-cold, his heart pounding like thunder. The heavy breathing in his ear felt like a death countdown, shredding his nerves.

Even without a single word, Qiu Sui’s frantic mind could clearly guess who had trapped him.

That Alpha who’d vanished for days.

Qiu Sui bit down in near-regret. Because the other hadn’t appeared, he’d gradually let his guard down during these training days.

Amid Qiu Sui’s anger and regret, the Alpha holding him finally spoke. With a low chuckle, he pressed his nose tip against the camouflage jacket, pinpointing Qiu Sui’s ear with eerie precision. His rough murmur grazed the shell: “Long time no see. You’re quite the charmer, darling.”

Qiu Sui felt the other’s other hand land on his thigh. Breathing ragged, he struggled fiercely, wanting to curse.

“Get the hell off me… mmph.”

The back of the hand gripping his wrist pressed against his lips, muffling his voice.

Sure enough, faint voices drifted from outside as someone passed by.

Qiu Sui tried to yell for attention, to break free and shout, but the Alpha blocked it effortlessly every time.

The other’s hand slipped into his pants pocket unnoticed. When it brushed the damp note, it pinched his thigh through the fabric in displeasure.

The unfamiliar sensation made Qiu Sui reflexively arch his back. Right now, his only thought was to break free and tear the Alpha behind him apart. His spine tensed rigid from the stress.

Seizing the moment the other hand was away, he snapped his shoulders back in a swift strike.

The Alpha’s chest took the heavy blow unexpectedly, eliciting a muffled grunt. He low-laughed, tightening his embrace around the Beta.

As Qiu Sui’s emotions surged, that hoarse voice returned, enunciating each word slowly, growing icier toward the end: “Handsome, hi. I’ve had my eye on you for two days… You’re nothing like those cringey show-off Alphas. I really like you…”

By the end, Qiu Sui could feel the other’s seething rage through gritted teeth. He struggled futilely with his hands.

The Alpha glared at the words, crumpling the soggy note viciously in anger. He leaned toward the jacket, his forehead rubbing against Qiu Sui through the thin fabric as he warned in a low whisper: “Why’d you accept his water, baby? You like Omegas?!”

Qiu Sui couldn’t speak or move his head with his mouth covered, only feeling the Alpha’s high nose bridge pressing his cheek, sinking the flesh downward.

Qiu Sui sensed the Alpha straining to hold him and tried to wrench free, but the grip stayed ironclad.

Misinterpreting the struggle, the Alpha recalled the Omega and Beta together earlier, jealousy flaring hot.

Feeling Qiu Sui’s body heat, he couldn’t hide his emotions: “Delusional wishful thinking.”

“You like Omegas? Can you mark them? Give them a Permanent Mark?”

His palm slid along Qiu Sui’s calf, thigh, and buttock up to his tensed nape, exhaling a sinister hiss: “You can only be marked… by me.”

The other’s fingers brushed near Qiu Sui’s gland. In that instant, Qiu Sui’s eyes widened in fury, channeling every ounce of strength to resist.

Though just a Beta, his build rivaled an average Alpha’s—not easy to subdue.

The Alpha released his hand to pin the unruly legs instead. As if seeing the Beta’s panic through the jacket, he softened, murmuring low: “Scared already? Then you should obey me properly.”

As the hand left his nape, Qiu Sui’s tension visibly eased—but the next second, the Alpha’s hoarse voice sharpened: “But last time I sent you so many messages, and you ignored them all. Do you know how heartbroken I was?”

“You need to be punished. You never learn…” The Alpha sounded pained, fingers on Qiu Sui’s slim waist, breath heavy as he added coldly: “You forgot me.”

With the jacket over his head, Qiu Sui felt his brain burning from lack of oxygen. Before he could process the words, his whole body jolted, a crisp smack resounding from behind.

Fuck.

All thoughts of plot and vicious cannon fodder cleared from Qiu Sui’s mind. Enraged, he wanted to break free and pummel the Alpha senseless, but the hold was too tight—only his shoulders could manage feeble strikes.

Just an ordinary Beta, doing nothing wrong, yet constantly targeted by Alphas’ inexplicable hatred and coveting…

Ignoring the impacts on his chest, the Alpha embracing the Beta sank into the sweetness of the hug. After so many years apart, this close contact again—it was too nostalgic.

But the moment couldn’t last forever. Glancing at his watch, the Alpha regretfully grabbed a nearby strap to bind Qiu Sui’s legs temporarily.

“No seducing Omegas. Don’t get too close to them. I’ll always be watching you, baby.” Before leaving, he sweetly kissed Qiu Sui’s forehead through the jacket, beaming happily: “If you disobey, I’ll punish you.”

The instant the Alpha released him, Qiu Sui yanked off the jacket.

His eyes, smothered too long, spun dizzily in the dimness. The Equipment Room’s curtained windows cast hazy light; only the door before him clicked shut.

Qiu Sui tried to leap up and chase, but the bound legs foiled him.

Footsteps pounded past outside, voices discussing assembly.

Qiu Sui forced his heavy eyelids open, tightened his belt, and gnawed at the ropes on his ankles.

His limbs, immobilized too long, felt numb and moved sluggishly.

Clutching the Alpha’s left-behind camouflage jacket, he endured the stinging sensation on his backside, shoved open the Equipment Room door. The brilliant outdoor light made him squint.

Pausing at the threshold, he glanced back—no sign of the Omega’s water bottle on the floor.

Qiu Sui pursed his souring lips, cursing inwardly. With venting fury, he slammed the door and headed back to camp.

The Alpha had timed it perfectly. When Qiu Sui returned, reeking of Green Tea Pheromone, they were just lining up for roll call.

Unable to smell Pheromones, Qiu Sui chalked the Alphas’ odd stares to lingering grudge over the Omega’s water.

Meanwhile, at the assembly camp, someone else’s return was less punctual.

Shen Zhixiao strolled back to the Special Training Camp with a purified water bottle six minutes late. The instructor docked his entire five-minute rest, turning it into penalty drills.

His friend Wen Heng watched him get chewed out before rejoining, tilting his head sympathetically and muttering under his breath: “Where the hell were you? Took forever.”

Shen Zhixiao eyed the distant, dented-bottom water bottle. Unfazed by the punishment, he curved his lips in pleasure, replying curtly: “Buying water.”

“Took that long to buy water? There’s a convenience store right nearby.” Wen Heng shot him a skeptical look.

But Shen Zhixiao ignored him, straightening into position under the instructor’s warning to resume training.
