Chapter 12
Hearing Lin Ling’s words, Shi Changyuan paused for a moment, then decided to defend himself. “Actually, there are many things in the Abyss.”
As he spoke, Shi Changyuan lowered his head and leaned closer.
The little flower demon froze, instinctively stepping back, but Shi Changyuan reached out and gently pressed the back of Lin Ling’s head, pulling him closer, their foreheads touching.
“Why are you running?” Shi Changyuan smiled and coaxed in a low voice, “Close your eyes.”
The little flower demon subconsciously obeyed the command. As he closed his eyes, the entire Abyss space appeared in his mind.
In his mind, Lin Ling could see rows and rows of small box-like spaces in the boundless darkness, containing all sorts of different things.
When the little flower demon extended his mental power, it was like extending a small tentacle, opening those little boxes one by one.
When he opened those spaces, he could look down on everything inside from a high, God’s-eye view.
A jumble of trees, stones, human-made clothes, food, books, antiques, gems, gold, and currencies from all over the world were piled together haphazardly, presumably things the Abyss had swallowed from human cities during its expansion.
Lin Ling stared in a daze, taking great effort to scan each space.
Those spaces contained all sorts of things. There was even a castle in a corner somewhere!
Lin Ling randomly chose a few seemingly full spaces to look at and immediately felt his head spin—
His brain couldn’t store so much information.
The little flower demon opened his eyes, dizzily took two steps back, disconnecting the “shared connection” with Shi Changyuan, and then was caught and led to a small sofa that had appeared at some point.
“There really are a lot of things,” Lin Ling nestled into the sofa, making a conservative estimate, “You’ve probably swallowed half a human base.”
And that was just the part he had seen, which was already so vast.
“Mm.”
Shi Changyuan didn’t deny it, nor did he think there was anything wrong with hoarding so many things. He just looked at his seed and asked, “Is there anything Ling Ling wants?”
His tone of inquiry was as if he could find anything Lin Ling wanted.
Lin Ling seemed to understand this as well, blinking and tentatively asking, “Anything?”
Shi Changyuan nodded and said matter-of-factly, “Of course.”
These things were originally meant for his seed.
After Shi Changyuan awakened because he lost his seed, he expanded and searched for his seed while also encountering many new things. At that time, he thought he should keep these things to show his seed.
So, the Abyss’s devouring no longer meant destruction.
Sometimes, Shi Changyuan even accidentally swallowed living creatures, and he would keep them in the space, wanting to show them to his seed.
But although other living creatures were fluffy and he thought his seed would like them, those fluffy creatures would produce waste and poop, not at all as well-behaved as his seed, so the Abyss disdainfully threw them all out.
His seed was still the cutest.
Shi Changyuan looked at the little flower in front of him and added, both before and after sprouting.
“Actually, I don’t really want anything,” Lin Ling rolled on the soft sofa, then hung upside down from the sofa, looking at Shi Changyuan, who was standing in front of him.
“But, I’m so curious, when we first met, how did you accurately find that small jar of fertilizer among so many messy things?”
Lin Ling thought for a moment and added, “And that towel for drying hair, the shirt, and the little yellow duck raincoat.”
“I didn’t see them just now.”
Shi Changyuan looked at the carefree, unguarded little flower demon and deliberately said, “Rather than being curious about that, you should be curious about where your main body went.”
“Oh, right!” Lin Ling sat up, looking around in confusion. “Where’s my main body?”
Shi Changyuan didn’t speak, so Lin Ling looked around, his gaze finally locking onto the table, which had a few things on it.
Lin Ling walked over. First, there was a bouquet of small white flowers, placed in a beautiful vase, covering most of the table.
“You’ve taken such good care of this bouquet too!” Lin Ling’s eyes lit up, and he turned to look at Shi Changyuan.
Anyone would be happy if the gift they gave was treated with care, right!
Behind the bouquet was the first small white flower Lin Ling had given him when they first met. It was placed in a display glass bottle, sealed with a lid, showing no signs of wilting.
Finally, in the very center of the table was the antique flowerpot that Lin Ling was very familiar with, along with his main body, the little flower.
“Wow, you put everything here?” Lin Ling exclaimed.
“Mm.”
Shi Changyuan followed him, stood behind Lin Ling, thought for a moment, and then said, “Important things shouldn’t be left lying around.”
These words made Lin Ling freeze. He looked at the space in the center of the Abyss, then at the table placed in the center of this space, then at the flowerpot placed in the center of this table…
And in the center of this flowerpot was planted his main body, the little flower.
Lin Ling suddenly felt as if a small sign had been hung on his main body, clearly stating “Most Important.”
With a “boom,” the heat from his ears spread across his entire face, and his long eyelashes fluttered like butterfly wings.
“Th-that’s good,” Lin Ling changed the subject in a fluster, “Th-then where did you put your seed before?”
Shi Changyuan, almost without hesitation, reached out and pointed at the antique flowerpot in front of Lin Ling.
“Here.”
Lin Ling’s eyes widened abruptly.
His mind was reeling. He hesitantly repeated, “You mean, here? This flowerpot?”
Shi Changyuan nodded in confirmation.
“Th-then haven’t I taken Little Seed’s place?” Lin Ling couldn’t believe it, his face filled with the anguish of being a bad person.
“No.” Shi Changyuan rubbed Lin Ling’s head and said in a very casual tone,
“This is your place.”
Lin Ling didn’t understand.
“Does Ling Ling really not remember anything?”
Shi Changyuan’s tone finally revealed some emotion, a hint of loss that he might not even be aware of. “I thought you would remember after you came back.”
Lin Ling looked again at the empty space, and the only things in the space, all related to him, and finally realized—
“I’m the seed you lost?”
Lin Ling’s voice was very soft, his gaze slowly shifting to his main body, the little flower. There was no need for a sign that said “Most Important” on the little flower.
Because it already had a sign that clearly stated “Abyss’s”!!!
