The warm sunlight streamed through the window, the air clear.
A gentle spring breeze slipped into the room, rustling the row of neatly arranged thongs on the drying rack. The fish swam lively in the tank.
It was their first time going hiking outdoors, and the first time with Li Ge. Chen Shuo’s mood was as bright as the sun, he hadn’t been this excited even for his elementary school spring outings.
He first collected the new thongs he had bought for Li Ge, which had just arrived last night. Li Ge had insisted on wearing them, so he had to wash them all.

All week, Chen Shuo had spent his free time researching recipes and different breakfast ideas, making something new for Li Ge every day, putting extra effort into the breakfast.
On Monday, he made congee with preserved egg and lean pork; on Tuesday, he made egg pancakes; on Wednesday, he made plain noodles; on Thursday, he cooked small wontons. The wonton wrappers and pork shoulder were specially bought from the supermarket on Wednesday evening, and he had learned how to make the filling online. Li Ge ate a full bowl.
On Friday, he didn’t have time to make breakfast, being pestered by Li Ge for nearly half an hour, not being allowed to get out of bed. Yesterday, Saturday, was not even worth mentioning, he had no time to make breakfast at all.
