Chapter 12
Large raindrops splattered against the ground, the smell of earth filling the air. As the rain intensified, the ground quickly became wet.
Inside the metal door, a pile of potatoes lay scattered.
Shi Nuo carried two heavy buckets, having just made it inside before the downpour started.
The wind whipped around him, partially soaking his clothes. He put down the buckets and was about to take off his muddy shoes so he could carry the potatoes to the storage room when he instinctively looked back and saw the white wolf standing outside the door.
The white wolf approached and, as Shi Nuo watched, puzzled, extended a forepaw and knocked over one of the buckets filled with potatoes.
The potatoes rolled out, still covered in dirt. Seemingly irritated, the wolf swatted the bottom of the bucket with its massive paw.
The remaining potatoes flew out, arcing through the air before landing on the ground.
It seemed like a gentle tap, but the force was considerable, though well-controlled, as the bucket wasn’t dented.
Shi Nuo assumed the wolf didn’t like him bringing the potatoes inside and was venting its frustration. He held his breath, his expression tense.
The white wolf righted the bucket with its paw and, glancing at Shi Nuo, saw the Omega’s anxious expression.
Impatient and unwilling to explain, it picked up the bucket handle in its teeth, shook its head slightly, and gestured for Shi Nuo to follow.
Shi Nuo stepped out into the rain, then stopped.
Unlike Alphas, this fragile Omega was delicate. A little wind or rain could make him sick, and if he got sick, the wolf’s due payment would be delayed.
Just as Shi Nuo stepped outside, he was pushed back inside by a large, fluffy white tail.
For a fleeting moment, the soft fur brushed against his cheek, as soft as it looked, but the giant tail was powerful.
The white wolf ran into the rain, the water not bothering it in the slightest. Like a white shadow, it vanished from sight.
Shi Nuo stood there for a moment, then picked up the scattered potatoes and added them to the pile.
He didn’t understand what the white wolf meant and didn’t dare put the potatoes in the storage room. He squatted by the pile, anxiously waiting for the wolf to return.
In the pouring rain, the white wolf quickly reached the riverbank. Live fish and shrimp were still jumping, trying to get back into the water.
Its eyes narrowed in displeasure. Reluctantly, it opened its mouth, grabbed a fish, and dropped it into the bucket. It repeated this, collecting four fish and about twenty shrimp.
Rainwater rolled off its back like beads, not wetting its fur. As for the mud under its paws, it was accustomed to traversing the natural world and had its own ways of avoiding and cleaning it.
The fish and shrimp, thirsty, jumped around in the bucket.
The white wolf picked up the bucket handle in its teeth and ran back.
Its reasoning was simple: the Omega always ate plants, and his thin, scrawny body wasn’t appealing. This displeased it.
Back at the house, Shi Nuo sat on the small stool, wiping the dirt off the potatoes one by one with a dry cloth.
A splashing sound came from the kitchen as the live fish and shrimp thrashed in the basin.
The white wolf was dozing on the soft, clean rug.
Shi Nuo couldn’t resist glancing at it, then quickly looked away, his lowered eyes filled with shame. So, Hugh Elvis hadn’t been displeased with his potatoes; he had simply wanted to use the bucket to bring back fish and shrimp. He had misunderstood.
He would have fish and shrimp to eat again.
His thoughts were consumed by food, remembering the delicious taste from last time.
Since arriving here, the monotonous and limited food had often led him to dream of various delicacies. Especially after eating the shrimp, he dreamed of all sorts of shrimp dishes: boiled, steamed, garlic-flavored, spicy, stir-fried, grilled, hot pot, and more.
He had been planning to try fishing in the river again in the next few days, but he hadn’t expected Hugh Elvis to be so considerate.
Noon. The drizzle continued, the outside world damp and cold, the distance shrouded in mist.
The dehumidification system was running, keeping the dampness out, and the bedroom was dry and comfortable.
Shi Nuo ate lunch with satisfaction. He had fish and shrimp and barely touched the boiled potatoes. After cleaning the kitchen and tidying up the storage room, he went back to his bedroom, took a shower, and went to bed.
Digging and searching for potatoes inevitably got his clothes and body dirty.
He was grateful, more than once, that the water and power systems in this unfinished house were fully functional. Otherwise, showering would be a problem.
He drew the curtains, dimmed the lights, and climbed into bed, yawning.
He had asked Hugh Elvis if he wanted to eat with him before, but the wolf had ignored him again, so he had eaten alone.
A normal Alpha, like other people, would eat three meals a day. But Hugh Elvis was different. Although he seemed to retain his reason, he had only appeared in his beast form so far, and his habits might be closer to those of a large carnivorous predator.
He had seen documentaries where wild animals could survive for a while after a single large meal. Perhaps the white wolf had eaten before appearing.
Reason.
This was different from what he had heard. Many rumors claimed that the Elvis family’s heir had lost his mind and regressed, becoming a beast, even highly aggressive. If not for several incidents of losing control, and the serious consequences of his berserk episode within the family at the age of fifteen, he wouldn’t have been sent to this deserted planet.
Large families always had their secrets. Shi Nuo, coming from a minor noble family, knew that beneath the glamorous facade lay hidden shadows.
His current situation, both his and Hugh Elvis’s, could be considered exile. He had no contact with the vast Elvis family.
A sense of heaviness weighed on his heart, and he frowned, turning over and pulling the soft blanket tighter around himself. The Elvis family was too distant. Listening to the rain outside, his thoughts drifted elsewhere.
Normal Alphas, even in their beast forms, could speak. But Hugh Elvis hadn’t uttered a word so far. Perhaps his vocal cords had been injured.
Or perhaps, having been here for so long, he had lost the ability to speak. After all, Hugh Elvis had been alone on this planet for ten years.
The former heir, considered uncontrollable and untamable by everyone outside, actually retained his reason, hadn’t completely regressed, and might even be a kind-hearted Alpha.
Shi Nuo thought of the white wolf again.
The dim bedroom was filled with the Alpha’s pheromones, the cold fragrance enveloping him, bringing a deep sense of security and comfort. He drifted off to sleep.
After an unknown amount of time, Shi Nuo felt a warmth against him.
Soft, fluffy fur, like cotton, brushed against his stomach and chest. He instinctively reached out and touched it, his fingers sinking into the warm, soft fur, as if petting an animal.
Half-asleep, he thought his long-haired pet rabbit from before had come to him, but this rabbit was much larger, almost covering his entire body.
Then his neck was licked, the rough warmth making him open his eyes.
The room was still dim. The small bed in the corner was crowded. Even though the white wolf had shrunk to half its size, only a meter and a half tall at the shoulder, it was still massive to Shi Nuo.
It had climbed onto the bed, engulfing him.
After a moment of confusion, Shi Nuo came to his senses. His blanket was gone, and he was exposed, his pajama top missing.
After showering, he had locked the bedroom door and, as usual when he was alone, hadn’t bothered with pajama bottoms, only wearing the top.
Shame flooded him, his cheeks and ears burning. He froze, not daring to move.
As for the white wolf, it was busy enjoying its payment, not bothering to look at the Omega, indifferent to his thoughts.
The sweet scent of tea olive blossoms intensified with his anxiety, trembling like a small animal threatened with its life, huddled beneath the wolf, surrendering completely.
The white wolf was pleased and impatient. It flipped Shi Nuo over, the Omega’s fair, delicate neck exposed before it.
Its fangs sank into the Omega’s scent gland, drawing out the sweet pheromones, instantly calming its restlessness.
Shi Nuo was terrified of the wolf’s fangs and didn’t dare move, afraid that the slightest movement would cause the sharp teeth to pierce his gland and then his throat.
Hot breath brushed against his neck as the wolf sniffed deeply.
After the pheromones in his gland were drained, an overwhelming surge of dominant pheromones flooded his body.
Shi Nuo’s eyes widened, his body trembling uncontrollably.
The forceful intrusion of pheromones filled him, his scent gland aching, even more painful than the first temporary marking. He couldn’t breathe, his eyes losing focus and their light, his strength draining away. His slender, pale fingers tried to grip the pillow but couldn’t find the strength.
Five minutes later, the white wolf released its bite.
Shi Nuo lay limp and weak, unable to move for a long time.
A mere temporary marking could drive an Omega into heat. Shi Nuo’s mind, already numb, couldn’t process this, let alone what it implied about the white wolf’s even more formidable abilities in certain areas.
The white wolf was pleased with the scent it smelled. It used its mouth to pull off the Omega’s only remaining piece of clothing.
Shi Nuo had brought it pleasure, so it was patient, careful not to tear the fabric.
“No.”
Shi Nuo weakly raised his hand, but the fabric had already slid down to his ankles. He couldn’t stop it.
The intertwining of their pheromones triggered a very real response.
Just as the fish and shrimp craved water, the mature Alpha craved the Omega’s sweet nectar.
Like a stream, it flowed, like a spring, inexhaustible.
Having presented as an Omega, his physiology was naturally different. The clear liquid was pure and untainted, another manifestation of his pheromones.
The “torment” lasted a long time. Shi Nuo was almost completely consumed, tears streaming down his face, his body trembling with involuntary cries.
As his mind slowly cleared, he saw the white wolf, not the least bit disheveled, while he himself had been a mess for nearly two hours. Tears rolled down his cheeks and into his hair.
The white wolf, licking its lips contentedly, suddenly heard a faint, hoarse sob. It looked up and saw the Omega’s tightly closed eyes, the corners reddened.
It tilted its head, puzzled, and sniffed the Omega’s cheek.
The dependence created by the temporary marking was mutual. Its previous indifference towards the Omega had shifted to patient observation, though it couldn’t understand the crying.
It had protected him today, helped him find food, and even brought him fish and shrimp. The payment should have been even more generous.
Shi Nuo didn’t resist the Alpha’s approach. The mark, on the contrary, made him feel safer. He was simply too ashamed to open his eyes.
Then, a large hand gently cupped his cheek. The oppressive weight of the giant wolf vanished, replaced by the long, strong body of a man.
