Chapter 13
The pleasant weekend ended, and a new week began.
The academic atmosphere at school was getting more and more intense. He arrived half an hour earlier than usual today, and the classroom was almost full.
The sounds of reading and discussing homework filled the air.
Yan Weiqiu walked into the classroom, holding a carton of warm milk, a biscuit in his mouth, and his eyes still sleepy.
He didn’t notice that from the moment he stepped into the classroom, the originally noisy room suddenly became quiet, everyone’s gaze subtly falling on him.
“Whew.” Yan Weiqiu casually stuffed his bag into his drawer and laid his head on the desk for a nap.
He had been working on practice problems until late last night, recopying the incorrect ones and even compiling a set of notes for Jiang Yuebai.
The surrounding students began whispering.
“Does the class monitor even know about this yet?”
“Should we tell him?”
Even the student sitting in front of him patted his deskmate’s shoulder, and the two exchanged glances.
The student in front nudged his chin, gesturing: You go.
His deskmate shook his head. After a brief argument, the student in front finally gave in.
He gently patted Yan Weiqiu’s shoulder and coughed lightly. “Class monitor.”
“What is it?” Yan Weiqiu didn’t look up, his voice listless and full of exhaustion.
The student in front scratched his head, hesitating, not knowing how to start. His deskmate gave him a look of disdain, annoyed by his hesitation, and took the initiative. “Class monitor, have you looked at the class group chat or the forum these past two days?”
Yan Weiqiu instinctively took out his phone and asked blankly, “What’s wrong?”
He had spent the past two days with Xiaobai, either going out or studying at home, barely having any time to look at his phone.
The student in front forwarded him some screenshots, his brow furrowed with worry. “Some guy posted a lot of your photos on the school forum. Although the admin deleted them later, many students still saw the post.”
“Photos?” Yan Weiqiu clicked on the pictures, his expression growing colder.
Most of the photos were taken secretly. Some were in the library, some on the school path, some on the basketball court, some in the cafeteria, and some even faintly showed Jiang Yuebai, though he had been cropped out.
Judging from the clarity of the photos, the person must have kept a certain distance from him, not daring to get too close, and not wanting to be discovered.
Moreover, with Jiang Yuebai, his bodyguard, by his side, the person could only take pictures from afar.
“Who’s so bored?” Yan Weiqiu pursed his lips, disgust flashing in his eyes.
This feeling of being followed, of being secretly watched, was truly disgusting.
The two students in front shook their heads simultaneously. “Everyone in class knows about it. We were discussing it this morning, but we couldn’t figure out who it was. This person doesn’t seem to be from our class. There isn’t a single photo of you in the classroom.”
The deskmate: “Actually, there’s one more thing.”
Yan Weiqiu looked up and asked expressionlessly, “What?”
The deskmate scrolled through his phone, opened the confession wall, and placed it in front of him. “Last night, someone confessed to you on the confession wall. The most exaggerated thing is that the person wrote a 3000-word essay!”
The student in front chimed in, “And the essay… it’s written as if they’re very familiar with you, making me wonder if it was Jiang Yuebai from Class 3. But it seems like the person who posted the photos and wrote the essay is the same person.”
Yan Weiqiu immediately dismissed the idea before even seeing the content.
“It can’t be Jiang Yuebai.”
“He wouldn’t be so bored.”
If Jiang Yuebai liked him, he wouldn’t confess on the confession wall. Even if he chose a grand gesture, it definitely wouldn’t be as simple as posting on the confession wall.
Even if Jiang Yuebai wasn’t trying to confess to him, even if he just wanted to play a prank, he wouldn’t be this bored.
The student in front breathed a sigh of relief. “I knew it. Jiang Yuebai, such a cold and aloof Alpha, doesn’t seem like the type to write a 3000-word confession essay, let alone post so many photos of you on the forum, cropping himself out and leaving only your solo shots.”
Yan Weiqiu smiled noncommittally.
He thought Jiang Yuebai would do something this stupid, just not post it on the confession wall.
And it might not even be limited to 3000 words.
After all, he still treasured the 5000-word apology letter Jiang Yuebai had written him, hidden in his drawer at home.
The student in front shuddered as he spoke. “I find it so creepy. There’s actually such a pervert in our school, stalking and taking secret photos… who knows how many photos he took, and whether the ones posted are just a part of them. Could there be even worse photos? Since he’s only revealing himself now, the class monitor definitely wouldn’t have noticed him before. It’s terrifying to imagine him following him even into the bathroom.”
Yan Weiqiu: “???”
He usually used the stalls in the bathroom, not the urinals, and he always locked the door.
The bathroom stalls had proper doors; there was no way for anyone to take pictures.
The deskmate discreetly pinched the student in front’s arm, signaling him to stop, and said comfortingly, “This is actually a good thing. He couldn’t help but reveal himself before he could cause any real harm to the class monitor. If he had remained hidden, he might have done something even worse when the class monitor wasn’t paying attention.”
The student in front pinched him back after hearing this.
Listen to what you’re saying; it’s even more alarmist than what I said.
Yan Weiqiu looked at his thin arms and legs and nodded seriously.
Perhaps he should carry pepper spray with him recently.
Should he test it on Jiang Yuebai?
Yan Weiqiu was distracted throughout the entire class.
As soon as the bell rang, Jiang Yuebai rushed over to him within a minute.
“Did you hear about what happened on the forum?”
“Yes.” Yan Weiqiu handed him his water bottle. “Want some?”
Jiang Yuebai took it and drank a large gulp. Yan Weiqiu silently took the bottle back, looking at the water level, which had dropped by two-thirds, and didn’t know what to say.
Pepper spray might not be enough.
Seeing his expression, Jiang Yuebai patted his head. “Don’t worry, I’ve already asked the teacher to help investigate the surveillance footage.”
Yan Weiqiu was stunned for a moment, then smiled faintly. “Mm.”
“Class monitor, the teacher wants to see you in his office.”
Yan Weiqiu responded, and Jiang Yuebai followed closely behind him.
“Why are you following me? The teacher only called for me.” Yan Weiqiu suddenly stopped, and Jiang Yuebai thankfully managed to stop in time.
Jiang Yuebai looked around and said seriously, “The pervert might be lurking nearby, watching us.”
Yan Weiqiu retorted, “Stop creeping me out. He must be crazy to be interested in a Beta like me.”
Jiang Yuebai disagreed. “What’s wrong with being a Beta? Our Xiaoqiu is beautiful and smart. I can begrudgingly admit he has good taste.”
Yan Weiqiu: “…”
It wasn’t just the student in front, or his deskmate, who had a strange way of thinking; even Jiang Yuebai did.
Class 1’s homeroom teacher looked at Jiang Yuebai, who was following behind Yan Weiqiu, and felt a headache coming on. “Jiang Yuebai, what are you doing here?”
…
…
After a brief exchange, Jiang Yuebai spoke again. “Teacher, can I really not transfer to Class 1?”
Class 3’s homeroom teacher, who had been listening from the side, said with a smile, “Get back to class.”
Jiang Yuebai spread his hands. “Fine.”
Class 1’s homeroom teacher had only learned about this incident in the morning.
The school immediately deleted the posts, temporarily shut down the forum, and closed the confession wall.
After all, it was the final sprint before the college entrance exams. Yan Weiqiu also understood the school’s difficulties. This matter wasn’t a big deal, but it wasn’t a small deal either. They couldn’t let one bad apple affect all the senior students.
Homeroom teacher: “I’m worried this will affect your studies.”
Yan Weiqiu shook his head. “It won’t.”
His grades had always been stable. This incident was just a silly prank to him and wouldn’t have any substantial impact.
Simply put, one of his secret admirers was a bit of a pervert, a peeping Tom, who liked to follow him and take pictures. But in reality, the person only dared to take pictures from afar and wouldn’t have the chance to capture anything scandalous.
From the long post on the confession wall, it seemed like this person had liked him for a long time but was worried about being rejected, so they decided to confess before the college entrance exams, hoping he would give them a chance.
The person even subtly expressed their dislike and resentment towards Jiang Yuebai in 500 words.
But it was written very vaguely.
Yan Weiqiu thought the most likely reason for the person’s anonymity was fear of Jiang Yuebai finding out who they were and beating them up.
Just a cowardly, bored person.
The bell rang for class.
Class 3’s homeroom teacher just walked out of the office and saw Jiang Yuebai standing at the door. He pointed to the security camera on the wall and said, “Jiang Yuebai, do you see this?”
“A security camera.” Jiang Yuebai blinked innocently.
Class 3’s homeroom teacher gritted his teeth, a hint of anger on his face. “Then why aren’t you back in class? Yan Weiqiu has security cameras to escort him; he doesn’t need you.”
Jiang Yuebai: “Are you sure this camera isn’t broken?”
“It’s not broken!” Looking at the empty corridor, Class 3’s homeroom teacher dragged him towards the classroom.
Not long after, Yan Weiqiu also came out of the office.
As he passed by Class 3, he discreetly waved to Jiang Yuebai.
As his gaze swept past the students by the window, he seemed to make eye contact with a boy for a split second. When he looked again, the gaze was gone, as if it had been an illusion.
After Yan Weiqiu returned to the classroom, the student in front passed him a note.
[Class monitor, have they caught the bad guy yet?]
Yan Weiqiu: Not yet.
Student in front: That’s how efficient our school is?
Yan Weiqiu: Let’s wait until after the college entrance exams.
Student in front: That’s outrageous! What if he’s a hidden sex offender?!
Yan Weiqiu: You have quite the imagination. You’ll definitely get full marks on the essay portion of the college entrance exam.
Student in front: I’m serious! He could be a perverted sex fiend!
Yan Weiqiu: Then you’re in danger.
Student in front: !!!
After class, the student in front turned to Yan Weiqiu and asked cautiously, “Class monitor, since you’ve reported this to the teacher, and it’s a way of rejecting him, do you think he’ll switch targets? After all, he could be a perverted sex fiend!”
Yan Weiqiu nodded seriously, glancing at the students playing around, making sure no one was paying attention to them, before whispering conspiratorially, “So you should be careful. You’re so good-looking; you could be the perverted sex fiend’s next target.”
“Ah!” The student in front shrieked.
The surrounding students immediately turned to look at him.
He waved his hands frantically. “It’s nothing, it’s nothing.”
His deskmate looked at him helplessly and said, “Didn’t you realize the class monitor was just teasing you?”
The student in front shook his head vigorously.
His deskmate patted his head and said with a loving expression, “Just focus on your studies. I’m worried you’ll fail the college entrance exam.”
Student in front: “Shut up! Don’t jinx me!”
