Chapter 27
Snowflakes fell from the sky, silently covering the entire city.
The snow had stopped, the morning mist gradually dispersed, and the winter sun shone through the thin clouds. Thick curtains blocked all the sunlight, and the dim room was quiet, only the sound of soft breathing could be heard.
Yan Weiqiu’s eyelashes fluttered, a wave of dizziness washing over him. He opened his eyes with difficulty, the dim light making it hard to tell the time.
He tried to raise his hand, but a wave of soreness shot through his body.
He froze, his breath catching in his throat, as he looked at the arm around his waist.
Memories of last night flashed through his mind, and his face flushed crimson.
His heart raced, his mind a mess.
He and Xiaobai…
The steady rhythm of breathing reached his ears. Jiang Yuebai was still asleep. Realizing this, Yan Weiqiu became stiff as a board, afraid of waking him up.
“Mm?” Jiang Yuebai stirred awake and kissed his cheek sweetly.
Yan Weiqiu held his breath, closing his eyes and pretending to be asleep.
Jiang Yuebai inhaled deeply and gently nibbled his earlobe.
Yan Weiqiu’s heart skipped a beat, and then…
He couldn’t pretend any longer. A sweet whimper escaped his lips.
The scent of lime and sweet orange filled the room.
…
…
It was the first time Jiang Yuebai had been like this, gently coaxing Yan Weiqiu while wickedly wanting to make him cry.
The desire in his heart grew stronger.
…
…
An hour later, Yan Weiqiu’s voice was hoarse from crying.
He kicked Jiang Yuebai with all his might.
“Get out.”
Jiang Yuebai held his ankle, leaned down, and kissed his slightly swollen lips, nuzzling his nose against his affectionately. He chuckled softly. “I’ll carry you to take a bath.”
Yan Weiqiu was lifted into his arms, his eyes red, glaring at him, his voice hoarse. “I want to wash myself.”
He instinctively rubbed his throat, then grievedly bit Jiang Yuebai’s shoulder, leaving a deep mark.
“You don’t have the strength.” Jiang Yuebai carried him into the bathtub, coaxing him with a smile. “Let’s do it here, okay?”
Yan Weiqiu looked at him in horror and tried to crawl away, but Jiang Yuebai grabbed his ankle and pulled him back.
“Alright, I’ll stop teasing you.”
The sound of running water filled the bathroom, the air hot and humid.
Yan Weiqiu lay in Jiang Yuebai’s arms, his eyes closed.
Jiang Yuebai looked at his exhausted face and kissed his forehead tenderly.
Just as Jiang Yuebai thought he had fallen asleep, Yan Weiqiu suddenly spoke. “Didn’t you always hate Omegas? Now you know, I’m an Omega too.”
Jiang Yuebai was silent for a moment, then said slowly, “I don’t hate Omegas, and I don’t particularly like Betas. I just didn’t want you to give up on your feelings for me because I’m an Alpha.”
“Xiaoqiu.” Jiang Yuebai held him tighter, burying his face in his neck, and said sadly, “I’m also worried that now that you’re an Omega, you might think I only marked you because you’re an Omega, because I couldn’t resist your pheromones.”
“But Xiaoqiu, do you know?”
“I’ve always been deeply captivated by you, regardless of your secondary gender.”
“And I’ve never thought our secondary genders were an obstacle between us.”
“Okay, I know, stop talking.” Yan Weiqiu covered his mouth, his face flushed by his cheesy words.
Jiang Yuebai held his hand, kissed his palm, and said, “So the Omega I encountered during my rut back then was you.”
Yan Weiqiu was annoyed at the mention of this and snorted. “I still remember the bruises on my back; it took a week for them to heal.”
Jiang Yuebai’s eyes reddened, and he choked out, “I’m sorry.”
Seeing Jiang Yuebai cry, Yan Weiqiu panicked. “I didn’t mean to blame you.”
“I’m sorry.” Jiang Yuebai hugged his waist, leaning against his shoulder, remembering their interactions over the past six months. He had been so careless, not noticing anything unusual, letting his Xiaoqiu endure so much pain alone. A lump formed in his throat. “I’m the one who made you feel insecure, I’m the one who made you suffer, I’m too stupid, I made you feel wronged.”
Yan Weiqiu pursed his lips, lowered his eyes, and chuckled self-deprecatingly. “How can you blame yourself? It’s clearly because I didn’t trust you, so I hid my Omega identity.”
He had wanted to tell Jiang Yuebai countless times, but he was worried that Jiang Yuebai wouldn’t accept him as an Omega, and they would end up going their separate ways.
But he had never given Jiang Yuebai a chance.
It was all just his assumptions.
“That’s not true, Xiaoqiu.” Jiang Yuebai shook his head, his tone serious. “If you were hesitant, it means I didn’t do well enough.”
For some reason, at this moment, Yan Weiqiu felt that Jiang Yuebai must really, really like him to say such a thing.
He was the one who hadn’t been replying to messages, answering calls, or agreeing to meet.
He was the one who had made Jiang Yuebai suffer.
He was the one who had made Jiang Yuebai feel insecure.
But Jiang Yuebai told him it wasn’t his fault.
Yan Weiqiu suddenly realized he could bully Jiang Yuebai without any reservations now.
Just as he thought this, a gust of cold wind blew in, and he sneezed, shivering.
“Are you cold?” Jiang Yuebai turned him over, making him lie against his chest.
“A little. What are you doing?” Before Yan Weiqiu could stop him, he struggled to get up, but Jiang Yuebai held him tightly, whispering in his ear, “…”
“I’ll do it myself, don’t touch me.” Yan Weiqiu’s face flushed crimson with embarrassment.
“You can’t reach.” Jiang Yuebai held his chin and kissed him, diverting his attention.
Yan Weiqiu whimpered uncontrollably and bit him hard.
He had thought he could bully Jiang Yuebai without any reservations.
It turned out he was wrong.
It was Jiang Yuebai who could bully him.
