Ding-a-ling—

The bell rang for the end of class.

Yan Weiqiu composed himself and went directly to the cafeteria instead of returning to the classroom.

Since the start of his senior year, Yan Weiqiu had stopped going home for lunch. With his heavy workload, it was too much trouble to go back and forth, so he simply ate a quick meal at school.

“What’s wrong?” Jiang Yuebai followed his gaze and turned to look behind him.

Two girls were standing not far behind him, their gazes frequently flitting towards them.

“Are they your classmates? Do they need something from you?” Jiang Yuebai asked.

Yan Weiqiu looked away, lowering his head, his grip on his chopsticks tightening until his knuckles turned white. When he looked up again, his expression had changed. He smiled faintly. “They’re not my classmates. I don’t know them.”

Jiang Yuebai had his doubts, but seeing that Yan Weiqiu didn’t want to talk about it, he didn’t press him further.

They were just two irrelevant people anyway; he had no interest in knowing them.

After lunch, Yan Weiqiu and Jiang Yuebai took a walk on the playground.

As usual, Jiang Yuebai put his arm around his shoulders.

Uncharacteristically, Yan Weiqiu didn’t stop him. Jiang Yuebai took advantage of this and put his arm around his neck, their actions very intimate.

Those who didn’t know them would think they were a couple.

The expression on Jiang Yuebai’s face softened considerably. He put his arm around Yan Weiqiu’s shoulders again and walked towards the classroom.

On the way back to the classroom, the atmosphere between them became subtle.
