Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 28: Off You Go

“Save me, please look back at me!”

—The above thoughts came from a certain eavesdropping Little Milk Dog.

Originally, it had been held in a bodyguard’s arms. Midway through, sensing some major drama to spectate, it had deliberately darted behind Lin Yuan’s wheelchair to hide. Now the drama had been watched, but it was scared stiff, not daring to breathe. Its little short legs slowly backed away, terrified it would be sent for electric shocks too.

Or worse—straight to the dissection table.

Hiss… The surveillance in Shen Leyuan’s room was set up by Lin Yuan, right?

How much did he see? Has he already realized I’m too smart to be a dog?

In the scorching summer heat, Huo Tingfeng broke out in a cold sweat from sheer fright.

As it dazed itself in fear, fate’s hand descended from above, grabbing its neck covered in white fur.

“Ying~ wu!” The Little Milk Dog trembled and let out a cry.

Lin Yuan lowered his gaze to it, his pupils pitch-black and profound.

Like owner, like pet. After its fur puffed up in terror, the Little Milk Dog shivered while pretending to stay calm—a perfect mimicry of the youth who had stormed off in anger.

His large palm covered the little creature’s soft neck, rubbing silently.

Frail, immature, easily controlled. Just like Lin Yao—a being he could kill effortlessly. If he truly couldn’t resist that temptation, the simplest way would settle it once and for all.

The simplest way… once and for all…

The hand stroking its neck tightened slightly, as if the next moment it would squeeze with lethal force.

Huo Tingfeng didn’t want to act so embarrassingly pathetic, but the Little Milk Dog’s body was too sensitive. Bathing in boiling killing intent, it couldn’t even control its own throat, nearly wailing with whimpers.

But in the end, the man merely cradled it and set it on the ground.

“Off you go.”

It heard those two words.

Without a second thought, Huo Tingfeng bolted. After running some distance, alarmed cries from the bodyguards echoed behind.

“Mr. Lin? Mr. Lin! Are you alright?!”

The Little Milk Dog glanced back, its pupils reflecting a face twisted in pain. The man clutched his heart, gasping, yet the gaze he cast was indifferent and calm.

“Where’d you run off to?”

Shen Leyuan scooped up the little dog pup and cradled it in his arms.

After his outburst, his emotions plummeted sharply. He felt utterly deflated, not wanting to say another word or even bother calling someone to take the dog back. He just held it as he went to visit the injured youth.

Before entering the room, he rubbed his face first, ensuring no trace of his anxiety lingered.

Lin Yao had changed the group chat name to “Father’s Enemies Alliance” and was spamming like a wild dog let loose.

Orphan: [You guys out yet?]

Orphan: [Did you notice the old man’s face? Tsk tsk, like a henpecked husband hiding pocket money, terrified that guy would scold him.]

Orphan: [Too bad I got dragged away before I saw enough.]

Orphan: [That guy really is mentally fragile. I just got a little hurt, and he nearly cried from distress. Insisted the bodyguards take me to a doctor.]

Orphan: [@Sheng Shisi @Little Deer? No peep out of you two?]

Orphan: [@Sheng Shisi @Little Deer dead?]

Boring.

Lin Yao set his phone aside, suspecting Little Deer and Sheng Shisi were with the Fox Spirit… with that guy, arguing fiercely with their old man and had no time for him.

Speaking of which, what was that guy’s WeChat ID?

He’d steal Little Deer’s phone sometime to check.

“Lin Yao, you there?”

Like an illusion, that person’s voice from his heart accompanied the knock—soft and gentle, as if afraid of disturbing him.

Heart guilty as a thief, Lin Yao shoved his phone under the blanket and called out, “Come in!”

Wait, why should I feel guilty?

He pulled the phone back out, pretending not to look at Shen Leyuan while his body tensed rigidly, suspecting the man’s gaze burned hot enough to ignite him through the covers.

“What’re you looking at?” He glared fiercely. “Wanna strip me?”

Shen Leyuan: “Can I?”

Lin Yao froze stiff, shrinking uncomfortably and stumbling, “Y-You wanna strip… then just…”

Halfway, he felt it sounded lame, like a kid being placated by a parent, so he bristled and snapped again, “Then strip me! Why ask?! You didn’t ask when you lifted my shirt earlier!”

“Sorry,” Shen Leyuan asked. “So, can I now?”

Lin Yao turned his face away. “Touch if you want! Why so wishy-washy? Not manly at all!”

The blanket was pulled back, then his shirt.

Cooler than the air was that hand, inching from his abdomen to his chest, igniting flames everywhere it touched. It scorched Lin Yao’s face burning hot; he didn’t dare turn back to check if he was blushing.

“Hey,” he asked awkwardly. “Done touching yet?”

Shen Leyuan said, “Yeah.”

That’s it? No more touches?

A bunch of gays outside begging to touch me, and I never let them. He stops after two and calls it? Doesn’t like what he sees?

“What?” Refusing to admit he fell short, he snarked passive-aggressively, “Prefer bigger ones you can bury your face in? This young model not good enough, huh?”

Shen Leyuan chuckled at that, the lingering gloom in his heart easing a bit. Holding back a laugh, he coaxed, “No, it felt great. Just worried such a pretty chest might scar.”

Lin Yao’s cheeks burned hotter, and he retorted disdainfully on purpose, “Scars are a man’s medals! A few make you manlier. You don’t appreciate it at all!”

After saying that, he thought regretfully: But I don’t scar much anyway.

As the data indicated, the shocks that should have caused massive damage barely affected Lin Yao. The burns were superficial, not reaching his organs. Shen Leyuan could set that worry aside for now.

But it made him even more distressed, suspecting Lin Yao was just pretending to be tough.

He’d originally planned to ask what Lin Yao intended next—whether to move out, consider reporting to the police—but now he lost the will. He simply tucked in Lin Yao’s blanket and told him to rest well before standing.

He’s leaving???

Lin Yao’s face darkened. “Rushing off to tutor Little Deer?”

I’m injured here!

Shen Leyuan paused, then patted the affection-starved little wolf dog. “They’re both still locked in confinement. No classes. I just want to head back and rest.”

Lin Yao stared dumbly as he pushed the door open and left.

After a moment, a new message pinged in the group: [You two still not out?!]

For the first time in his life, his punishment had been lighter than others’. Little Deer was still in the confinement room, while he lounged comfortably in a hospital bed, scrolling his phone.

The Fox Spirit only saved me! Just me!

Lin Yao couldn’t suppress the grin on his face. After a thought, he deleted that message.

Then, he started acting petty.

Orphan: [That guy came to see me. Been to check on you two yet?]

Orphan: [Seems he doesn’t prefer older ones either. Just praised my pecs.]

Orphan: [Tsk tsk, that guy’s such a perv.]

Orphan: [@Sheng Shisi @Little Deer Has he groped your pecs too?]

Orphan: [@Sheng Shisi @Little Deer Say something!]

Unfortunately, the good mood lasted only a few hours.

That evening, a deranged Little Deer flooded the chat with rage and resentment—and amid it, Sheng Shisi’s curt two-word reply.

Sheng Shisi: [He has.]

Little Deer: [??????]

Little Deer: [Why yours too!!!]

Little Deer: [He said no casual kissing or cuddling. Gets mad if I kiss him once. How can he do that to you! He’s lying! He doesn’t keep his word!!!]

Little Deer: [I’m going to find the teacher. He has to kiss me to make it up!]

Now Lin Yao was the one spamming “??????”

Orphan: [@Little Deer He kissed you? When? How?]

Orphan: [What the hell did you do behind my back?!]

Orphan: [@Little Deer Get out here!]

Orphan: [Explain yourself!]

Seeing the shameless deer wouldn’t respond, Lin Yao tossed his phone aside. Ignoring his body’s faint ache, he stormed out the door, blazing with fury.

A bodyguard blocked him. “Young Master Lin…”

Lin Yao’s expression darkened further. “What, the old man told you to stop me?”

“No,” the bodyguard said awkwardly. “Teacher Shen was worried about you. Told me to make sure you rest.”

The anger on Lin Yao’s face stalled, then vanished into thin air.

“I’m just going for a walk,” he muttered. “That Shen guy’s such a busybody!”

The bodyguard said, “Teacher Shen cares about you. Worried about aftereffects.”

Lin Yao huffed lightly, scrutinizing the bodyguard pickily. “Teacher Shen this, Teacher Shen that. Looks like you’re pretty fond of him too.”

Bodyguard: …

Where’s all this jealousy coming from?

He said speechlessly, “I have a boyfriend. The one who brought you here this morning.”

Lin Yao felt uncomfortably seen through and shoved him aside, throwing a tantrum. “Outta my way, you door-blocking statue. You gonna stop me from going out?”

The bodyguard patiently pulled out his phone. “I’ll check with Teacher Shen.”

After connecting, the phone quickly made its way to Lin Yao.

The youth ducked into the room to take the call away from the bodyguard. No one knew what was said, but three minutes later, the phone was returned. The bad-tempered young master stopped demanding to leave and obediently lay back in bed.

It wasn’t much—Lin Yao had just mentioned Little Deer wanting to come over and asked if he should help.

Shen Leyuan wouldn’t dare let him.

If it were just Little Deer, he could talk his way out. Add a snarky, jealous vinegar jar like Lin Yao, and every time he dazed Little Deer, one line from Lin Yao would snap him awake, reigniting the fury.

With sweet talk, praise, and coaxing, he finally dissuaded the one pretending to help but mostly there for the show. Shen Leyuan wiped the cold sweat from his brow.

Handing himself over to Lin Yuan had been said in anger, but now he genuinely wanted to.

What a mess?

The whole family’s psych issues on him? He wasn’t a therapist!

Thinking of the biggest problem child filled him with resentment.

If you think I’m the issue, just say it. Report my situation if you want. Fun watching me tiptoe around hiding who I am? I even called the cops back then—couldn’t you just explain?

Calling me abnormal, a monster. I-I…

I’m quitting!

This isn’t a situation I can handle. I’m just an ordinary teacher—can’t shoulder this burden, can’t save this family, especially not that stubborn Lin Yuan!

Once Lin Yao recovers, I’ll hand over the novel’s contents. With the country backing me, I dare him to stop me from quitting!

As he stewed, urgent footsteps approached outside.

Little Deer’s shrill voice pierced the door: “Ol’—”

Whoosh. Shen Leyuan yanked the door open, his icy gaze landing on the boy. “Come in. Let’s talk.”

Little Deer: …

Not even finishing “teacher,” he instinctively backed up two steps on reflex.

“It’s late,” he hid his anger perfectly, speaking all soft and considerate. “Little Deer won’t disturb Teacher’s rest.”

Scared now?

Too late!

Shen Leyuan smiled. “I’ll count to three.”

Shen Leyuan transmigrated into a book, landing in the infamous city everyone knew about. Top 2 was the foster brother who snuck into bed in the middle of the night behind their dad's back, his favorite line a snide "little mom." Top 3 was the psychologist who wielded manipulative mind games and toys in tandem, plastering walls with photos of the protagonist bottom. Top 4 was the man who turned into a Tibetan Mastiff, boasting massive pecs once he shifted back to human form.
