Perhaps out of sheer shock, Qin Guanyue remained silent for a long while.
Fu Yanli had already pulled the car over to the roadside. His gaze turned icy, his tone flat. “President Qin, are you still there?”
Qin Guanyue naturally knew Fu Yanli. Shixu Media under the Fu Corporation competed directly with his own entertainment company. The Qin Group had previously tried to collaborate with the Fu Corporation, only to be rejected after due diligence, so they had always viewed the Fu Corporation as a threat.
They planned to swallow up the Fu Corporation when the right opportunity arose.
But why was Jiang Shunnian next to Fu Yanli?
That bitch, pretending to be some chaste martyr, and now he’s crawled straight into Fu Yanli’s bed!
The thought that Jiang Shunnian had been beaten to the punch by someone else made Qin Guanyue gnash his teeth in hatred. Yet Jiang Shunnian had gotten under his skin too deeply—he couldn’t let go without having him first.
And it wasn’t his first time anyway, so there was no need to hold back.
“President Fu, how did you end up with him?” Qin Guanyue shifted his tone, chuckling. “You might not know this, but Jiang Shunnian was with me for a while. He was greedy and insatiable, so I wanted to teach him a lesson. I don’t know how he seduced you, but President Fu, don’t let his looks deceive you.”
Jiang Shunnian glared furiously at his phone. Qin Guanyue was twisting the facts like this!
If the person on the call had been anyone else, they might have actually believed him and turned against Jiang Shunnian.
But Fu Yanli had stayed up late investigating Jiang Shunnian’s background. He already knew that Qin Guanyue had forced him out of the industry back then, and that Jiang Shunnian and Nono had missed their latest variety show recording because of Qin Guanyue’s meddling.
Fu Yanli’s gaze grew even colder. “President Qin, you must have mistaken him for someone else. Shunnian is my lover of four years. We’ve even had a child together—quite the coincidence, since you just tried to use him as leverage.”
Qin Guanyue drew in a sharp breath, grinding his teeth. “You’re joking, right, President Fu? He’s just a mere actor.”
“Mind your words, President Qin!” Fu Yanli’s tone turned abruptly frigid. “I may have a good temper, but I won’t tolerate anyone slandering my lover. If you don’t believe me, the Fu Family will host a banquet soon to announce that I have a child. An invitation will be sent to your residence—please honor us with your presence.”
“…Fine. Since President Fu has invited me, how could I refuse?” Qin Guanyue forced the words out through gritted teeth.
“Goodbye, President Qin.”
With that, he hung up directly.
As Jiang Shunnian listened to their back-and-forth, he gradually regained his composure, though his hands and feet remained ice-cold.
He couldn’t understand why a little beast like Qin Huan got to be the protagonist of a whole book. The entire Qin Family was rotten to the core!
“Sorry, Shunnian. That was just an expedient measure—I made up our relationship on the spot,” Fu Yanli apologized sincerely.
He had no intention of taking advantage; it was simply the most effective way to deal with Qin Guanyue.
Jiang Shunnian didn’t mind Fu Yanli’s words at all. His voice came out hoarse. “It’s fine. As long as Nono is safe, I’ll do anything. What did you mean about the banquet?”
Fu Yanli pondered Jiang Shunnian’s words. Jiang Shunnian was the one being lusted after by Qin Guanyue—why frame it around Nono’s safety?
Does that mean Nono is in danger?
Fu Yanli lowered his gaze to mask his thoughts and explained to Jiang Shunnian, “The plan isn’t fully formed yet. After you went to rest last night, I discussed it with Mom and Dad. We were going to talk it over with you today, but things got interrupted. Bringing Nono into the Fu Family will ensure no one dares bully you two—at least until we’ve achieved our goals.”
This was exactly what Jiang Shunnian needed most. The Fu Family’s regard for Nono touched him deeply. “Okay. I’ll follow your arrangements.”
Fu Yanli took a bottle of water from the cup holder and handed it to Jiang Shunnian, his voice gentle. “Shunnian, don’t be afraid. With the Fu Family here, Qin Guanyue won’t dare do anything.”
Jiang Shunnian had heard the whole conversation, and as Fu Yanli said, Qin Guanyue had shut up the moment he heard it.
“Thank you.”
“Shunnian, give me some time. Soon, the Qin Group won’t be a threat to you anymore.”
Jiang Shunnian looked at Fu Yanli’s profound, handsome face, and peace gradually settled in his heart. “I believe you.”
Once Fu Yanli confirmed Jiang Shunnian had recovered, he restarted the car. Jiang Shunnian wasn’t in the mood for talk, but the atmosphere in the car wasn’t awkward.
The car drove smoothly all the way to Mingde Hospital, where they met Cheng Jingming—every overbearing CEO’s requisite doctor friend.
Cheng Jingming was the same age as Fu Yanli, tall and slender, refined and scholarly, and outstanding in his own right. After graduating with a medical doctorate, he’d joined the family hospital and become close friends with Fu Yanli.
Close in the sense that Fu Yanli’s OCD equally traumatized everyone.
They respected his character and abilities but refused to spend time with him.
The Fu Family had investments in Mingde Hospital, so all checks went through the VIP channel. Cheng Jingming eyed the outwardly composed but actually lively pair with some curiosity toward Jiang Shunnian.
Fu Yanli had been celibate for years, avoiding both men and women like the plague, to the point that Cheng Jingming wanted to drag him to a urologist—men couldn’t go unused forever without issues.
But he kept his professionalism and didn’t pry. Instead, he personally escorted them through a full-body checkup.
During the ultrasound, Cheng Jingming had Jiang Shunnian lift his shirt—and immediately spotted the faint scar. It was unmistakably a C-section mark.
But Jiang Shunnian was unmistakably male.
Jiang Shunnian glanced at Fu Yanli, who nodded, before saying, “Dr. Cheng, I was pregnant four years ago. Since I had no uterus or birth canal, it was a C-section. I don’t know why I got pregnant, so we want a full check to see whose issue it is.”
The sheer information density left Cheng Jingming stunned for several seconds.
A man pregnant and giving birth, checking with Fu Yanli… so Jiang Shunnian had borne Fu Yanli’s child?!
Cheng Jingming’s schadenfreude flipped instantly to envy and jealousy. Why him? Handsome, capable—and now a high-value man bearing his kid!
But he maintained his professional demeanor and gave Jiang Shunnian a thorough exam.
The conclusion: Jiang Shunnian’s physiology was perfectly fine, with excellent postpartum recovery.
So the problem was with Fu Yanli?
Cheng Jingming’s eyes gleamed behind his glasses. He pointed to the exam bed. “Your turn, President Fu. Let’s check your issue.”
Fu Yanli: “…”
Jiang Shunnian stepped aside, wiping lubricant off his waist and abdomen with a tissue. A glance showed Fu Yanli already lying down, shirt hem lifted.
His tall frame made his legs dangle naturally off the bed’s edge, his abdominal muscles tensing into perfect lines.
Cheng Jingming fell into weird silence at the scene. Seeing Jiang Shunnian’s obliviousness, mischief sparked in his eyes. Oh ho, thought it was mutual love—turns out it’s an unrequited crush.
They finished all the checks and got a thick stack of reports.
After reviewing them carefully, Cheng Jingming concluded that both men’s physiologies were perfectly normal and healthy. Fu Yanli, thanks to consistent exercise and great genetics, had the vitality of a twenty-year-old despite being over thirty.
Jiang Shunnian was in for some trouble.
“We’ve checked everything but the last step.” Cheng Jingming stifled a laugh, grabbing a transparent plastic cup and test tube, dangling it toward Fu Yanli. “Go collect a sample. Let’s see if you’ve got superhuman fertility.”
Fu Yanli: “…”
His whole body screamed refusal.
Jiang Shunnian covered his mouth to stifle a laugh.
He could hardly imagine the upright, restrained Fu Yanli collecting a sample—but then he recalled that night on the bed, when Fu Yanli had said “one more time” without much restraint.
Fu Yanli’s next question confirmed Jiang Shunnian’s view was spot-on. “If we can’t find a cause, that means pregnancy is still possible in the future.”
Jiang Shunnian’s face flushed crimson.
What did that mean? Who wanted to keep rolling in the sheets with him? He was so big, and his skills were so poor—no, that’s not the point. The point was they weren’t even lovers!
Cheng Jingming found it hilarious—his friend was thinking ahead—but as a doctor, he replied, “That’s possible, so use protection, or get a vasectomy.”
Fu Yanli nodded. “Got it.”
He turned to Jiang Shunnian. “Anything else you want to ask? Or should I take you home?”
Jiang Shunnian was still flustered, his head practically smoking from the bold talk. He couldn’t meet Fu Yanli’s eyes, staring at the floor. “I-I won’t go back with you.”
What if he said more weird stuff?
Amusement flickered in Fu Yanli’s amber-gold eyes. He laid it bare. “Shunnian, I won’t force you into anything, but I hope you’ll understand my feelings and give me a chance to pursue you.”
Cheng Jingming watched the drama in confusion but didn’t dare interrupt his friend’s confession, staying silent on the sidelines.
Jiang Shunnian was already a three-year-old’s dad but had zero dating experience. If he and Fu Yanli started something now, it’d be love after the baby?
He wasn’t sure if he should accept Fu Yanli—he had no interest in romance right now.
But Fu Yanli had promised to help dismantle the Qin Family last night, and now he was hosting a banquet to publicly claim Nono. With a child already born, reason and emotion both suggested he shouldn’t refuse.
Fu Yanli saw his hesitation and sighed softly. He was being too hasty.
“Shunnian, don’t overthink it. Follow your heart. If you don’t like it, I won’t bring it up again.”
Jiang Shunnian had zero doubt in Fu Yanli’s words. In his mind, Fu Yanli was already utterly reliable and trustworthy.
So he let down his guard and left with Fu Yanli.
Cheng Jingming rubbed his chin. This Jiang Shunnian is way too easy to fool.
On the drive back, Fu Yanli proactively asked about Nono’s childhood. Once started, Jiang Shunnian chattered on endlessly, his eyes lighting up.
“Nono was so obedient from the start. He’d only hum a bit when he needed something, and once satisfied, he’d give you the sweetest smile.” Jiang Shunnian was endlessly grateful for Nono—every time he saw that smile, he felt like the happiest person alive. “The first time he called me ‘Daddy,’ I nearly burst into tears from the emotion.”
Fu Yanli listened intently, as if compensating for the years he’d missed this way.
“Nono takes after you in personality.”
Jiang Shunnian agreed—mostly. He grinned teasingly. “Good thing it’s not fully like you, or I’d be collapsing too.”
He was lazy and tossed things around haphazardly; the house wasn’t tidy, but Nono never complained!
“True. If he were like me, my mom would’ve shipped me to outer space multiple times as a kid.”
The line hit Jiang Shunnian’s funny bone; he collapsed against the seatback, laughing until he couldn’t straighten up.
Somehow, he wanted to meet little Fu Yanli.
“I remember Nono saying you were checking schools for him? Any favorites?” Fu Yanli changed topics.
“Yeah, I looked at a few, but held off because of the fees.” Jiang Shunnian was frank about his finances—no shame.
Fu Yanli read the room perfectly. “I’ll cover all the costs.”
“Half is fine.” Jiang Shunnian knew the Fu Family was wealthy, but Nono was his son. He could earn to raise him; no freeloading.
Fu Yanli didn’t argue, just smiled. “Okay, whatever you say.”
The low, magnetic voice laced with laughter sounded so good that Jiang Shunnian subconsciously rubbed his earlobes, feeling them tingle.
Why talk like that? he grumbled inwardly.
Fu Yanli had returned early anyway; work could wait.
Privately, he wanted more time with Jiang Shunnian, so he messaged his assistant to clear his entire schedule.
