Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 31: Breathtaking Beauty in Ancient Attire

Then came Fu Yanli’s strikingly chiseled, handsome, and regal face.

Even Nono didn’t appear right away.

Perhaps because his fondness for Fu Yanli had grown deeper, Jiang Shunnian wasn’t as indifferent as he’d been the first time he’d seen him return from a run. He stole a quiet, careful glance. This Fu Yanli really does draw me in a bit.

“Shunnian, have you had dinner yet?” Fu Yanli propped his phone up on a stand on the table, grabbed a towel from nearby to wipe off his sweat. The muscles in his arms flowed smoothly with the motion, casual and effortlessly dashing.

Jiang Shunnian’s cheeks warmed slightly. He replied, “Yeah, I have. What about you and Nono?”

“We ate at the company. Nono loves the little puddings from the restaurant there. He says you like sweets too, so next time he wants to bring you along.”

“A small pudding I can handle.” Ever since starting filming, Jiang Shunnian had been eating measured portions—no sweets for ages.

Fu Yanli chuckled lightly. “If you’re worried about gaining weight, I can take you to work out after. I’ve got a full gym setup here. Though the best way to tone up is swimming—great for shaping the body.”

Jiang Shunnian was a total lazybones. He’d only stuck with running to lose weight fast, and once he slimmed down, he’d gone full couch potato. Filming didn’t require him to show skin, or his figure wouldn’t pass muster. Still, Fu Yanli’s suggestion tempted him.

After all, that guy’s body lines are seriously perfect—slim in clothes, ripped underneath.

“Sure, if I ever need it, I’ll hit you up.”

Nono, not even tall enough for the table, listened blankly to his dads chatting. Wasn’t Dad gonna video call me?

Did they forget about Nono?

He bounced up. “Daddies! Do you miss Nono? I miss you guys so much!”

Only then did Jiang Shunnian snap back to reality. He’d actually forgotten the little one, unconsciously following Fu Yanli’s conversational lead.

Thinking back, in their previous chats, Fu Yanli seemed low-EQ, but he’d always ended up volunteering all the info Fu Yanli wanted.

This sly man.

A bit embarrassed and annoyed, Jiang Shunnian said directly, “Hand the phone to Nono. I have secret talk with him. You keep working out—we won’t hold you up.”

Fu Yanli sighed faintly. Finally got to chat more with the wife…

He had no choice but to comply, handing the phone to Nono.

Nono obediently clutched it and pattered out of the gym, his baby fat cheeks jiggling boing boing in the frame—adorably biteable.

He didn’t stop till the living room, clambered onto the sofa, and started chatting with Jiang Shunnian.

“Did Nono have fun at the company today?”

Nono nodded vigorously. “Daddy, I had so much fun! All the uncles and aunties love me. I even signed autographs for them. I learned tons today. Big Dad taught me finance stuff in the afternoon—says once I get K-lines, moving averages, MACD, and RSI down, he’ll open an account and let me trade.”

Jiang Shunnian: “…”

Is this even Chinese? I don’t understand a single word.

But he’d long accepted he was the dimmest bulb in the house. With Fu Yanli guiding him, he felt at ease. So he kept chatting with the kiddo. “Daddy’s got a makeup test and stills tomorrow—not sure when I’ll be back. Nono, stick with Big Dad, okay?”

“No problem, Daddy! I got this!”

Truth be told, Nono missed Jiang Shunnian terribly. But he knew other kids’ parents went out to work—to earn money for the family.

So Nono added, “Once I make money trading, Daddy won’t have to work so hard!”

Jiang Shunnian’s heart warmed. My little one’s the best in the world!

“Alright, then Daddy’ll wait for Nono to support me.”

The father-son duo chatted warmly for ages, while Fu Yanli sulked miserably in the gym.

After finishing his workout, he showered quickly, changed, and headed out to find his wife and kid.

Nono was still talking with Jiang Shunnian when Fu Yanli approached. “Big Dad, Daddy says he won’t be back till late tomorrow—not sure when.”

Fu Yanli’s heart stirred with an idea.

He sat beside Nono, scooped him onto his lap, and said to Jiang Shunnian, “Nono’s a hit at the company. Go ahead and focus on work.”

Jiang Shunnian smiled. “Of course I trust you.” Ever since adopting Nono, Fu Yanli had been flawless—a great father.

Under the lights, the young man was stunningly beautiful, his gentle smile impossible to look away from.

Fu Yanli stared openly at Jiang Shunnian, his gaze hot and direct, yet not offensive—just brimming with raw affection in those eyes.

He kept staring until Jiang Shunnian’s face flushed. He didn’t dare ask what, flusteredly looking away and saying to Nono, “Little one, Daddy needs rest. You sleep early too—I’ll call tomorrow.”

Nono, oblivious to the adults’ charged eye contact, replied happily, “Okay, Daddy! Sleep tight—hope you dream of me!”

“I definitely will dream of Nono.”

Yet that night, Jiang Shunnian dreamed of Fu Yanli—those deep golden eyes fixed on him, drawing closer and closer until…

The next morning, Jiang Shunnian woke in mild despair. At this rate, I won’t hold out long before I fall.

When he arrived at the makeup site, he discovered an extra contender for Su Yuqing.

The guy was young, delicately handsome, slim-built, decked in luxury brands. He eyed Jiang Shunnian with clear hostility.

Jiang Shunnian didn’t get it at first. Zhao Yuanzhou chatted with the executive producer and learned the kid had backing and wanted in with investment.

Zhao Yuanzhou wasn’t intimidated. Forget Fu Yanli behind Jiang Shunnian—even Huazhen under Pei Qingyi meant no backing down.

He’d talk it out first; if not, call Pei Qingyi.

Lin Yusong, big-name director, looked glamorous but was still beholden to capital.

He hated investor actors too—usually talentless, undisciplined, drama-killers.

But this kid’s backer was big: reportedly Qin Guanyue’s new favorite. Qin Family? Untouchable.

So he stayed silent, leaving it to the exec producer.

Before Zhao Yuanzhou wrapped talks, the kid sauntered over, chin tilted arrogantly. “I want this role. Name your price—I’ll let you.”

Jiang Shunnian found it amusing. “Kiddo, you think I’m short on cash?”

He wore an outfit Fu Yanli picked—fearing Jiang might seem undervalued—to wit, this season’s fashion week finale piece. Luxe, stylish, perfect on him.

The kid sized him up, realized he couldn’t afford it, and soured more. He schmoozed hard for his sugar daddy—why does this Jiang get it easy?

He huffed. “You’re how old? Got a kid? And playing Su Yuqing? Shameless. Age-appropriate roles only.”

“But I guarantee no immersion break.” Jiang Shunnian held firm, backed by Fu Yanli and Pei. “And saying that? Offends folks. Plenty in this circle play against type.”

“You—!” The kid was speechless, stormed off fuming, and called Qin Guanyue about some Jiang Shunnian stealing his role.

Qin Guanyue blinked. Who? Jiang Shunnian?

Talk about coincidence. Since the banquet, he hadn’t seen him, but his brother Qin Guanting promised a setup for Fu Yanli—he could wait.

Four years down; what was another bit?

This pretty young thing threw himself at him, so he took him on.

Generous with lovers, he greenlit a male third lead—no biggie.

Even if the role was cast, in Qin Guanyue’s world, fixable.

He hadn’t expected Jiang Shunnian’s spot.

Knowing Fu Yanli backed him, Qin Guanyue said, “Baby, we won’t fight for it. He’s got people too. Pick another role you like.”

The kid wanted to whine for it, but Qin Guanyue’s tone dropped—he cowered. Knew the guy’s power and playboy rep. No pushing luck, or dumped. “Fine.”

“Good boy—one more thing: help me with something.” Qin Guanyue assigned a task.

The kid glanced at Jiang Shunnian, surprised, then nodded. “Got it—I’ll find an opening.”

Qin Guanyue smiled, pleased.

Soon, the exec producer got word: kid dropped Su Yuqing for the villain role.

The original villain actor paled—no backing against capital. Exec coaxed him out.

Jiang Shunnian frowned, hating the practice. Par for the course in showbiz, sadly.

Not his fault, but the displaced actor seemed pitiful. He had Li Hehe dig into the guy’s rep and skills—for future roles, he’d recommend if good.

With the drama settled, time had flown.

Leads had private makeup rooms; no one peeked during the fuss—jaded, probably.

As male third lead, low-tier, Jiang Shunnian queued sans dedicated stylist.

Focus was leads’ tests and stills. His outfits were minimal—one female look as highlight. Simple.

His turn came afternoon. He ate the crew box lunch, then makeup began.

Figuring it’d run late, he had his assistant check flights post-9 PM.

He texted Nono: Back late tonight.

Nono replied quick: “Okay.”

Unbeknownst, Fu Yanli blasted through daytime work, had his assistant book 3 PM flights to B City.

“Nono, let’s go pick up Daddy.” Fu Yanli donned casuals, tucked the kid in his arms, and strode out.

Nono lit up, eyes sparkling. “Yay! Early Daddy time! Big Dad, you’re the best!”

Thrilled, he planted a kiss on Fu Yanli’s cheek.

Fu Yanli kissed his forehead back. This is for seeing Shunnian sooner—Nono misses you tons as cover.

Kids really are the best glue sometimes.

Oblivious Nono stayed hyped on the flight but polite—no loud noise, just whispers with Fu Yanli.

Big Dad said keep it secret—for Daddy’s surprise!

Smooth flight to B City. Fu Yanli pinged Li Hehe for Jiang Shunnian’s spot—still working—got the address.

B City branch head sent a driver and car.

Post-makeup, Jiang Shunnian stunned everyone anew.

Even the female lead joked, smiling, “You could play the heroine, seriously.”

Top beauties blended masculine and feminine—Jiang Shunnian embodied it.

His face was already refined and androgynous, soft contours. With the makeup artist’s god-tier skills, he emerged an indistinguishably radiant stunner.

Male lead Mo Zhen stared at Jiang Shunnian, dazed.

He’d seen plenty of hotties in the industry, but this standout beauty? Rare.

If there’s a shot, maybe pursue.

Jiang Shunnian eyed his mirror self, surprised and intrigued. Female getup doesn’t clash at all.

Unseen, someone snapped sneaky phone pics—mostly side profiles from a bad angle.

The costume fitting photo shoot went exceptionally smoothly. With his formal training, Jiang Shunnian boasted solid acting chops and lively, expressive eyes—the shots came out so perfectly they hardly needed any retouching.

Once it wrapped up, Li Hehe suddenly told him that Nono was there to pick him up, waiting in the lounge on the same floor.

Jiang Shunnian was overjoyed. He didn’t even bother changing out of his outfit before dashing off to find Nono.

He knocked on the door, and a hand shot out from inside, yanking Jiang Shunnian swiftly through the threshold.

“Nono!” Jiang Shunnian spotted his son and moved to scoop him up in a hug. But Nono didn’t reach back. Instead, he tilted his head and gave Jiang Shunnian’s look a serious once-over before declaring, “Daddy looks so pretty today—like Mommy.”

Jiang Shunnian froze. Only then did he remember he was still dressed in women’s clothing.

The pink hue, soft as rosy clouds, set off his features in a vibrant, alluring glow. The long hair and exquisite makeup could easily fool a little kid about his gender.

From behind him, Fu Yanli’s voice rumbled. “Indeed, very pretty.”

The tone was low and husky, laced with something held tightly in check.

Jiang Shunnian whipped around—and locked eyes with Fu Yanli’s scorching gaze.
