Jiang Shunnian was caught completely off guard and kissed squarely on the lips.
He instinctively reached out to push the man away, but Fu Yanli seized his wrists and pinned them to the pillow beside him, rendering him immobile.
At first, Jiang Shunnian was a bit annoyed—how could Fu Yanli just kiss him without warning? But soon, his young body shifted from resistance to eager response after tasting the pleasure of the kiss.
Unlike the restraint they’d shown during the day, this kiss delved deep and heavy.
The two restrained their movements and sounds, afraid of waking Nono, but as their breaths intertwined, the temperature between them rose higher and higher. Only when Fu Yanli’s hand slid downward did Jiang Shunnian snap back to his senses. He twisted his body in firm refusal.
Fu Yanli’s breathing grew heavy, his eyes dark with desire even in the night shadows. Jiang Shunnian felt as if scorched and turned his face away, not daring to look. In a breathy whisper, he said, “Enough, enough.”
“But you’re already…” Fu Yanli murmured back in a low voice, pecking kisses along his ear and neck, trying to coax him into continuing.
Nonsense, Jiang Shunnian thought, I’m a normal twenty-six-year-old man. Of course I’ll get worked up if someone pins me down and kisses me like this. But that night had hurt so much, and besides, there was nothing in the house.
Moreover, his feelings for Fu Yanli hadn’t reached that level yet.
It felt a little scummy to admit, but this was Jiang Shunnian’s first relationship—he naturally wanted to proceed with utmost caution.
“It’s fine. I just don’t want to right now,” Jiang Shunnian replied.
Seeing Jiang Shunnian wouldn’t budge, Fu Yanli could only let out a soft sigh, his tone helpless yet indulgent. “Alright, everything on your terms. Shall we each handle it in the bathroom separately?”
“Sure. You go to the guest one outside.”
And so the two adults slipped out of bed on tiptoe. Fu Yanli headed to the guest bathroom, but the moment he left, Jiang Shunnian immediately locked the door.
Fu Yanli had zero credibility left with him. The man could go four times—or more—in a single night. What good would one quick trip to the bathroom do? The moment their bodies touched again, it’d reignite everything. If they wanted any sleep tonight, separate beds were the safest bet.
Imagining Fu Yanli’s baffled expression when he couldn’t twist the doorknob open later, Jiang Shunnian couldn’t help but cover his mouth to stifle his laughter.
The joy of a successful prank soothed him completely—no need to “handle” anything. He just washed his face in the bathroom and felt settled.
He climbed back into bed, where Nono slept peacefully, blissfully unaware of what the two wicked adults had gotten up to while he slumbered.
Jiang Shunnian’s heart softened. My baby has grown so much. I really want to watch him grow up forever.
Thanks to the earlier tussle, he was now brimming with youthful vigor—no chill left in his body. Nono beside him was like a little furnace too, warm and cozy as they snuggled.
Jiang Shunnian didn’t fall asleep right away. He waited, and it wasn’t until half an hour later that he heard Fu Yanli turning the doorknob.
He shook with laughter under the covers.
Moments later, a message pinged on his phone—from Fu Yanli.
Fu Yanli: Shunnian, let me in.
Jiang Shunnian silenced his phone and typed back: Go sleep in the guest room. No opening the door—I’m going to bed.
Fu Yanli’s handsome brows furrowed in helplessness. He could find a spare key, but tonight’s kiss had cost him all trust. He was starting to doubt his own self-control too.
But Jiang Shunnian’s pull on him was too strong—he couldn’t rein himself in. So he replied: Okay. Shunnian, I’ll miss you. Goodnight.
Words sometimes struck deeper than speech. That simple “I’ll miss you” set Jiang Shunnian’s heart fluttering uncontrollably.
He draped an arm over his eyes, unable to deny his growing feelings for Fu Yanli anymore.
One day, when I’ve built up enough affection, I can start a relationship with him—even marriage.
And the process of accumulating that affection filled Jiang Shunnian with joy.
He drifted off without realizing it. The next morning, he woke later than Nono and opened his eyes to meet his son’s puzzled big stare. “Daddy, where’s Big Daddy?”
“Uh…” Jiang Shunnian racked his brain for an excuse to fob off the innocent child. Luckily, a knock sounded at the door, followed by Fu Yanli’s voice: “Shunnian, you awake? I made breakfast.”
Jiang Shunnian seized the out. “Big Daddy’s making us breakfast.”
Nono took it at face value and cheered enthusiastically, “Big Daddy’s the best!”
He slid off the bed to open the door, but Jiang Shunnian swiftly scooped him back—door still locked.
After sending Nono to the bathroom to freshen up, Jiang Shunnian unlocked the door. Fu Yanli stood waiting outside and smiled at the sight of him. “Shunnian, sleep well last night?”
“Of course. Sleeping with Nono guarantees good rest.” Jiang Shunnian deliberately turned the question back. “And you, Mr. Fu?”
“Tossed and turned alone in an empty bed.” Fu Yanli answered deadpan.
Earning himself a glare from Jiang Shunnian.
It was Jiang Shunnian’s first time eating Fu Yanli’s cooking, and it was surprisingly delicious. As expected of a child of heaven—cooking came effortlessly to him too.
After breakfast, Fu Yanli didn’t rush off. Instead, he said to Nono, “Nono, kindergarten’s less than a month away. You’re a big kid now. I hear all the kindergarteners sleep by themselves. Want to give it a try?”
Jiang Shunnian caught on immediately—Fu Yanli was working through Nono.
Nono pondered seriously. Yeah, big kids slept alone. He adored clinging to Jiang Shunnian, but he knew he couldn’t forever.
“Then tonight, I’ll sleep by myself.” Nono fell for it hook, line, and sinker.
Jiang Shunnian wanted to protest, but then he remembered the previous life. He and Nono had always shared a bed—small home was part of it, but so was their mutual dependence as a lone father-son duo.
That had left Nono lacking independence, overly attached to family, ripe for Qin Huan’s deception.
It was my fault. A flicker of regret crossed Jiang Shunnian’s eyes. If only I’d raised him independent and strong.
With that thought, he had no reason to object. “Nono’s awesome! You can totally sleep alone!”
Flattered, Nono beamed, wishing it were bedtime already so he could show off his independence.
Fu Yanli’s intentions weren’t pure—not just for Nono’s growth, but to make nighttime mischief easier. Spotting Jiang Shunnian’s thoughtful look, he knew the man was dwelling on the past life.
“Shunnian, no rush. We have plenty of time.”
Jiang Shunnian glanced at Fu Yanli, steady as a mountain, and gradually relaxed.
Yes, this life was already worlds apart. He had Fu Yanli now.
After Fu Yanli left for work, Jiang Shunnian pulled out a laptop to check the emails from agent Zhao Yuanzhou.
Most invites for Nono were kids’ products: formula, toys, daily essentials. Jiang Shunnian had done tons of research raising Nono, so he knew the good brands. He quickly picked a baby shampoo ad collab.
It was the one Nono had used since little, with flavors like peach. Jiang Shunnian loved the peach scent—after baths, Nono smelled like a sweet, fragrant peach, tempting him to nibble those chubby white arms.
“Nono, want to shoot a shampoo ad?” Jiang Shunnian consulted him.
Nono leaned in and lit up at the familiar brand. “Daddy, that’s the shampoo I use.”
“Right?” Jiang Shunnian smiled. “Nono’s so smart—they want to work with us too.”
Nono snuggled against him happily. “Then I’ll do the ad with Daddy.”
Once decided, Jiang Shunnian messaged Zhao Yuanzhou, who replied “OK” soon after, saying he’d negotiate the deal.
He skimmed more scripts next—many wanted Nono as the male lead’s childhood self.
Curious if Nono inherited his acting talent, Jiang Shunnian grabbed a line: “Nono, come read this dialogue for Daddy? Can you act it out?”
Nono, always eager to please Jiang Shunnian, nodded right away.
He knew all the words. It was the male lead as a kid, abandoned by his dad, clutching his clothes and tearfully begging him not to leave him and Mommy.
Nono memorized it and performed, brewing emotions forever but no tears coming. He tugged Jiang Shunnian’s shirt in fake sobs: “Daddy, don’t abandon us. I’ll be good—”
Jiang Shunnian burst out laughing, unable to hold it.
So Nono couldn’t act. The line delivery and expressions were too adorable.
Maybe he’d never learned—after all, Nono the Great King could do anything.
Afterward, Nono got shy and buried his face in Jiang Shunnian’s chest, voice soft and whiny: “Daddy, no laughing at me.”
“Okay, no laughing. If Nono learns acting, you’ll be better than Daddy.”
Nono had zero interest in acting, so Jiang Shunnian told Zhao Yuanzhou to decline all film/TV offers.
He rehearsed lines during the day, cooked dinner in the evening to wait for Fu Yanli. They were starting to feel like a real family of three.
After Nono’s finance lesson with Fu Yanli and bath time, he headed to the kids’ room on his own.
Shen Boheng had decked it out like a fairy-tale wonderland, cozy and cute.
Jiang Shunnian followed Nono in, watching him hop onto the bed effortlessly, burrow under the covers, and fiddle with a Rubik’s Cube. His tiny fingers twisted at lightning speed, solving it in seconds.
A visual feast.
Still worried, Jiang Shunnian asked, “Nono, you sure you can do this alone?”
Maybe it was a dad thing—knowing independence was key, but hating to leave such a little one solo.
“It’s okay, Daddy. I can do it,” Nono assured him. Then, remembering something, he turned to Fu Yanli. “Big Daddy, Daddy might not be used to sleeping alone tonight. Can you keep him company?”
Nono was sensitive like that, always sensing when Jiang Shunnian leaned on him too.
Mission accomplished, Fu Yanli smiled. “Don’t worry, Nono. I’ll stay with him.”
Jiang Shunnian couldn’t contradict him outright and nodded along.
Once they stepped out and shut the door, he said immediately, “I’m sleeping alone tonight too. Guest room or upstairs for you.”
Fu Yanli picked the former. “Guest room it is. But Shunnian, if you can’t sleep, come find me. Door won’t be locked.”
“No way,” Jiang Shunnian declared confidently.
I’d slept alone the night before last. No reason home would be different.
But reality hit hard—he was wide awake.
Last night, Nono’s warmth and the sleepy air had lulled him easy. Now, the vast room felt empty, the sheets ice-cold.
He tossed and turned forever, sleep nowhere in sight.
He realized clearly: Nono was his own person now. He couldn’t cling forever.
Fu Yanli, you sly fox, he griped inwardly, itching to drag him out for a beating.
But slinking to his room defeated? No way.
Eyes shut tight, he forced sleepiness—then a knock. Fu Yanli’s voice in the night stirred his heart irresistibly: “Shunnian, need me?”
I know they’re kinda flirting, but it feels really underhanded of Fu Yanli to use Jiang Shunnian’s weaknesses like that to push their relationship further. Trust should be earned & relationships built not forced. :/
Thaks for the hardwork!
