The Spirit Cult Leader no longer hesitated. She raised her hand with a wave, reclaiming the Great Elder from the East Island Lord’s grasp, and with another gesture, the swarm of insects retreated entirely.
Finally, she turned and departed.
It was over.
Lian Li let out a long sigh of relief. He turned back toward Sui Xin Monk, only to find that he had already vanished.
It made sense; the Spirit Cult members were gone, and everyone remaining was on the same side. If the East Island Lord decided to kill him then and there, no one present would say a word.
Lian Li bent down to help Yun Huizhou up as the East Island Lord approached.
Yun Huizhou called out, “Senior Uncle.”
Lian Li also called out softly, “Senior Uncle.”
The East Island Lord glanced at Lian Li and nodded. She then raised her hand and tapped several points on Yun Huizhou’s body; in the next second, Yun Huizhou slumped limply against Lian Li.
Lian Li scrambled to catch the man before he could hit the ground. Looking utterly bewildered, he asked the East Island Lord, “Senior Uncle?”
The East Island Lord, knowing that Lian Li had only recently joined the sect, explained, “It’s better for him to be unconscious right now.”
She pointed at Lian Li and said, “Take him and go. If he weren’t unconscious, he likely wouldn’t let anyone carry him away.”
“Oh, okay.” Lian Li nodded like a chicken pecking grain. “Got it, I understand.”
He held onto Yun Huizhou, shifting around for a good while to find the right position.
Yun Huizhou was half a head taller than him and a size larger in build. While Lian Li could physically lift him, he wasn’t easy to carry. His shoulders weren’t broad enough, and his shoulder would likely end up digging into Yun Huizhou’s abdomen the entire time.
If he carried him over his shoulder the whole way, Yun Huizhou would likely vomit from the pressure even while unconscious. A princess carry, however, would somewhat obstruct his vision. Finally, just as the East Island Lord was about to step in and take the man himself, she at last made up her mind.
On his back.
The East Island Lord watched him busy himself and scratched his head. Although she didn’t understand, she didn’t say anything.
Once they were finished on their end, Zhao Honglan and Qu Tingquan were also ready to depart at any time.
With the East Island Lord present, they were not worried about anyone else attempting to intercept them. They made it out of the forest where the Spirit Cult was located without any trouble. However, it was still quite a distance to the nearest town. Lian Li and Zhao Honglan whistled, and before long, Ice Treader, Zhao Honglan’s horse, and Lian Li’s horse came galloping toward them from several directions.
Seeing Lian Li about to lift Yun Huizhou onto Ice Treader, the East Island Lord finally came over to lend a hand. After Yun Huizhou was settled, Lian Li vaulted onto Ice Treader’s back. Zhao Honglan and Qu Tingquan were naturally sharing a horse, so Lian Li could only ride Ice Treader with Yun Huizhou, leaving his own horse for the East Island Lord.
After everyone had mounted their horses, East Island Lord said, “Head to the vicinity of Shanyun Town. Xi Yu is there.”
Lian Li was stunned for a moment before realizing that Xi Yu was West Island Lord’s name.
He hadn’t expected that not only had East Island Lord come, but West Island Lord had also arrived.
It was a good thing the West Island Lord had come. Since Yun Huizhou was injured, the West Island Lord could examine his wounds and check if that Great Elder had used any underhanded tricks. Shanyun Town was completely outside the Southern Border’s territory and was quite far from here. Although it was far, being away from the Southern Border was also safer.
For now, the Spirit Cult members were still dazed by the East Island Lord’s sudden strike. If they were to regain their senses later and send a swarm of ordinary disciples to hunt them down, it would be a nuisance.
After traveling for some time, the group finally arrived near Shanyun Town.
The East Island Lord led them to a secluded residence on the outskirts.
As soon as she dismounted, the East Island Lord approached Lian Li. Lifting Lian Li with one hand and tucking Yun Huizhou under her other arm, she flew into a small courtyard and shouted to the person inside the room, “Xiyu, I’ve brought them back. I’ll leave the rest to you.”
Seeing the door open, she tossed Yun Huizhou onto Lian Li, then used a gust of palm wind to sweep Lian Li into the room before turning away to head toward another small courtyard.
Zhao Honglan and Qu Tingquan arrived at that moment. Just as they were about to speak from outside the door, the West Island Lord spoke first. “There are clothes in the next room. Go and change first.”
Qu Tingquan looked down at herself and realized she was still wrapped in a curtain, with Zhao Honglan’s outer robe layered over it. The situation had been too urgent before to care about such things, but now that she was out of danger, it was indeed inappropriate to see others looking like this.
Inside the room, Lian Li stared at the West Island Lord’s dark expression as he moved Yun Huizhou onto the only bed. Then, he turned and looked at the West Island Lord pleadingly.
The West Island Lord felt irritated just looking at him. He had given them so many high-quality medicines before they left, yet one of them still managed to return in such a half-dead state.
They were truly courting death. With two people who hadn’t even reached the Super First-class rank and one who was only at the Third-class level, they actually dared to infiltrate the Spirit Cult’s headquarters.
When he received the news sent back by Yun Huizhou, he was nearly driven to death by anger because of those two. If it weren’t for the fact that three Island Lords arriving at once would give the Spirit Cult too much face, Nanrong would likely have gone with Dong Qing to give those two old fogies a sound thrashing. Now that they were back, one was lying in bed unconscious, while the other was dressed in a hideously ugly Spirit Cult disciple’s uniform, face smeared filthy, looking at him with a pitiful expression.
He really wanted to slap them both to death and be done with it.
The West Island Lord rubbed his chest in frustration, only to hear Lian Li call out meekly once more, “Junior Uncle~”
“Shut up!” The West Island Lord glared at him. “I’ll settle the score with you two later.”
Lian Li immediately shut his mouth and sat down obediently at the foot of the bed, continuing to watch the West Island Lord.
The West Island Lord walked to the bedside, raised his foot and kicked Lian Li aside slightly before sitting down. He reached out and placed his hand on Yun Huizhou’s wrist to check his condition.
Lian Li stood to the side, nervously looking back and forth between the West Island Lord and Yun Huizhou.
After a long moment, the West Island Lord withdrew his hand.
Lian Li stared at the West Island Lord’s face, trying to glean something from his expression. However, the West Island Lord had no intention of letting him see anything; he simply pulled his hand back and said flatly, “Undress him.”
Realizing he couldn’t judge Yun Huizhou’s condition from the West Island Lord’s expression, Lian Li felt a sense of trepidation.
After hearing the West Island Lord say this, Lian Li immediately climbed onto the bed and began tugging at Yun Huizhou’s belt.
The West Island Lord glanced at his posture and movements, finding them strange no matter how he looked at them. In the end, he simply closed his eyes, deciding that what the eye doesn’t see, the heart doesn’t grieve over.
He heard the rustling sounds continue without stopping, and since Lian Li still hadn’t called for him, he felt it was a bit odd, so he opened his eyes and looked over.
It would have been better if he hadn’t looked, but now that he had, he was about to explode.
“You stripped him naked?” the West Island Lord asked in disbelief, pointing at Lian Li, who was in the middle of pulling off Yun Huizhou’s underpants.
Lian Li looked up with a bewildered expression. “Huh? I’m not supposed to take it all off? I thought it would be more convenient for the treatment if everything was removed.”
He looked at his hand resting on the undergarments, then at the West Island Lord, and asked timidly, “Then… should I put them on him now?”
The West Island Lord replied, “…Forget it. Since things have already come to this, let’s give him a bath first.”
