Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 58: Accidents Happen When You Least Expect Them

Lian Li looked for Yun Huizhou’s position and found that although the Su family had prepared a seat for him, he wasn’t sitting in it. Instead, he stood in a corner.

That corner was not far from Lian Li and was very well-hidden.

He kept his head down, so Lian Li couldn’t see his expression or tell what he was doing.

Lian Li, on the other hand, felt quite nervous. The opening remarks were a bit boring, and sitting still was somewhat agonizing.

He wanted to talk, but he had nothing to say to Madam Su, and he couldn’t speak to Yun Huizhou.

Therefore, he could only keep his head down, his eyes blinking as he prepared to doze off.

He had been tossed about until too late last night, and he had to wake up too early today to put on makeup. At this moment, he truly lacked energy.

Sensing his own state, he stole another glance at Yun Huizhou, thinking to himself: This guy couldn’t be hiding in that corner leaning his head down to catch up on sleep, could he?

Lian Li had actually guessed correctly. Yun Huizhou was indeed hiding in that corner with his eyes closed to rest his mind. However, he remained constantly alert to his surroundings to prevent anyone from taking the opportunity to approach Lian Li and discover that something was wrong with “Miss Su.”

Fortunately, the people who came—if nothing else—all had a bit of skill and reputation. For a while, no one tried to quietly approach “Miss Su.”

As Su Jun finished his opening speech, the martial arts marriage competition officially began.

Just as Su Jun stepped down from the stage and before he could even reach his seat, someone leaped onto the platform and announced his name.

“He Hao.”

He only gave his name without mentioning a sect. Generally, such people were independent Jianghu travelers without a formal affiliation.

Soon, a second person came up, likewise only giving a name without a sect.

Seeing the fight begin, Lian Li regained some spirit, preparing to watch the two men on the field exchange blows.

His mindset while watching the competition this time was completely different from a year ago.

A year ago, he was just watching the excitement to satisfy his curiosity and broaden his horizons.

Now, he was looking at the technicalities, observing the martial arts of others and then projecting himself into the situation, thinking about how he would fight if he encountered the opponent.

Yun Huizhou looked up at Lian Li. Seeing that Lian Li was seriously watching the match, he nodded with satisfaction and then lowered his head again to rest his eyes.

Soon, Lian Li discerned the martial arts styles of these two people and devised several moves and methods to deal with them in his mind.

Furthermore, he felt that even if he had never seen these two strike before, he could win if he faced them.

In his heart, he categorized these two as having martial arts inferior to his own. Then, he was surprised to discover that he wasn’t actually that much of a “noob” in the Jianghu.

He didn’t know if it was because his talent was good or if his sect was simply too formidable.

Considering the level of power held by his Master, Junior Uncle, and Yun Huizhou, he felt it was probably half and half.

The sect was formidable, and his own talent was also formidable.

The two on the field had already determined a winner, but the one who remained didn’t look like he could continue either.

Thus, the first two to start the show quickly departed.

Now, the third and fourth people were competing on the field.

After watching for a while, Lian Li’s interest began to wane. He understood why the Su Mansion had been so worried about Su Shan winning the martial arts marriage competition.

The people currently on stage were truly not much to look at. Lian Li felt he could easily defeat them, let alone Su Jun fighting them.

Thinking this, his gaze turned toward Yun Huizhou. He also somewhat understood why Master Su had been so keen on playing matchmaker for Yun Huizhou and Su Fu before.

If compared to the people currently on stage, saying Yun Huizhou was like a god descending to the mortal realm would not be an exaggeration.

After sitting for the entire morning, Lian Li’s back and waist were aching. Taking advantage of the screen blocking him, he began to adjust his posture in small movements.

However, looking at Madam Su, who sat perfectly upright, and Master Su, whose sitting posture was much more casual, Lian Li sighed in his heart. Miss Su and Madam Su really have it too hard.

No wonder Su Jun was so unwilling to let Su Fu come. Given Su Fu’s current physical condition, sitting here would likely cause her to faint.

Thinking that he still had to sit for the entire afternoon—and even for several more days—Lian Li had a face full of despair.

He would rather be dragged by Yun Huizhou to do Horse Stance and practice his skills than continue sitting here.

Especially since he was pretending to be Su Fu, he had to maintain a relatively dignified sitting posture.

Right now, his entire body felt sore.

Looking at the people fighting in the arena, Lian Li was extremely envious. Although he was quite diligent in his practice, he had never wanted to move his muscles and bones as much as he did now.

On the third day of the martial arts marriage competition, those with real strength finally took the stage.

Disciples from famous sects and disciples of renowned Jianghu seniors began to appear one after another.

People of this level were basically the type who could crush Su Shan.

Lian Li glanced at Master Su and Madam Su and found that their eyes held obvious joy.

For their family, a young hero of this level could be considered a top expert.

According to the general knowledge Yun Huizhou had given him, these people’s martial arts belonged to the upper-middle tier of the second-rate level—not the kind of “second-rate” that Su Jun had reached by relying on reputation.

They were genuine upper-middle second-rate experts.

However, Lian Li could clearly see that these people were a large step behind Yun Huizhou. Yun Huizhou also seemed like he didn’t take them to heart much.

Moreover, Lian Li felt that if he continued practicing at his current pace, he should be able to reach their level within five years.

Thinking this, he felt he was simply amazing. He just didn’t know when he would be able to catch up to Yun Huizhou.

Once he caught up to Yun Huizhou, he would definitely give him a good thrashing to pay him back for bullying him when his martial arts were weak.

His hand touched the spot slightly below his lower back; he still remembered this man hitting him with a scabbard two days ago.

Just as one match ended and the next person was about to come up, Yun Huizhou suddenly opened his eyes.

At the same time, a burst of arrogant laughter rang out.

“A martial arts marriage competition, hahahahaha! How could you not invite me, Double-Bladed Steel? Though, it shouldn’t be too late for me to arrive now!”

Following that arrogant laughter, a group of figures appeared in the distance. At a rough glance, there were actually twenty or thirty people. They were approaching the competition grounds at an extremely high speed.

The one at the very front reached the top of the competition arena almost instantly. With a wave of his hand, he knocked aside the screen blocking Lian Li and then charged straight toward him.

This posture didn’t look like someone coming to participate in a marriage competition; rather, it looked like someone coming to wreck the place and kidnap the bride.

Lian Li looked up at the man. He appeared to be about forty or fifty years old, clearly not within the age range required for this competition.

Furthermore, the man’s face was covered in fleshy folds, with a bushy beard curling around his face. When he opened his mouth to speak, one could see a row of yellow teeth.

Lian Li: !!!

He looks so dirty! Don’t come over here!

He instinctively wanted to circulate his Lightness Skill and run, but then he remembered he was currently pretending to be the non-martial-artist Su Fu, so his movements faltered.

In that brief moment of hesitation, the bearded man had already nearly reached him.

He transmigrated into a novel. Unfortunately, he had never read this novel. It wasn't until the supporting male character kicked the male lead off the martial arts competition stage that he realized he was inside a book. The novel's supporting male character happened to be the great hero who had saved his puny life. All he knew was that this supporting character's martial arts skills would eventually deteriorate. To ensure the "golden thigh" he was clinging to grew even stronger, Lian Li began analyzing the reasons behind the stagnation of his protector's martial arts. After beating around the bush, he concluded that the big shot must have been plotted against while fighting for the hand of the "Number One Beauty Under Heaven." Not a big problem. He just needed to desensitize the golden thigh, seal his heart in cement, and make him focus solely on the Martial Dao! But who would have guessed that while he was busy clinging, the golden thigh's gaze started to look a bit off? It seemed he might have clung to the wrong... leg? Yun Huizhou hoisted Lian Li onto his shoulder and headed straight for a deserted area. After a long while, Lian Li looked completely bewildered. Wait... didn't you want to marry the Number One Beauty Under Heaven? What are you doing right now? Did you really fall for a femboy!? Just where did things go wrong? Much later, Lian Li realized that when Yun Huizhou said he wanted to marry the Number One Beauty Under Heaven, he wasn't technically wrong. Pfft! It's actually getting married TO the Number One Beauty Under Heaven! *** PS: Neither of them has a clue; they both keep thinking it's just pure brotherly affection between martial brothers. But in reality, they already harbor a trace of possessiveness toward each other.
