Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

The Cub Comes from Planet Meow 10

Chapter 10: Meow

They say villains get stun-locked when they hear a familiar sound, and “300 Nursery Rhymes” can exorcise demons. Fang Yuan was feeling exactly that right now.

He had just come over full of anger after being chewed out by the school leaders, but now, listening to the BGM of Black Cat Sheriff, Fang Yuan felt strangely healed.

At least now his mind was completely occupied by the image of his childhood friend taking care of a child, with no room for anything else.

The little cub was being held in his childhood friend’s arms, head resting on head, happily watching the Black Cat Sheriff cartoon on the phone.

Perhaps because their expressions, movements, and angles were so synchronized, the two bore an indescribable resemblance. Anyone who didn’t know better would really think they were father and son.

Fang Yuan quickly shook the weird thought out of his head and stepped fully into the room.

At this moment, only Jing Zhi and the little cub were in the ward. The couple in the next bed had been discharged today and had already packed up and left. The care worker had just gone out to buy food for herself and the little cub.

Seeing a familiar figure suddenly appear in their peripheral vision, both the big one and the little one looked over in unison.

Jing Mimi naturally recognized Fang Yuan. He was Papa’s good friend. When he visited their home, he always liked to tease Mimi in his kitten form. His favorite thing was to flick Mimi’s drooping ears back and forth with his index finger. Every time, Mimi would run away to find Papa, meowing and complaining about his crimes.

This person also loved to chatter, his mouth never stopping. Even a cat found it annoying. Every time Mimi heard him babbling non-stop, his little tail would flick impatiently.

However, he didn’t exactly hate this friend of Papa’s. When Papa was with him, Papa would be very relaxed and happy.

The kitten could feel it even when nestled in Papa’s arms.

“You’re here,” Jing Zhi paused the cartoon on his phone and smiled at him. “Did you bring the stuff?”

“Brought it.” Fang Yuan lifted the bag in his hand and walked straight to the bedside.

Before coming, Jing Zhi had asked him to bring some things along the way, including daily necessities, a phone charger, and a familiar little fish-shaped doll.

He handed the bag to Jing Zhi, who dumped everything onto the hospital bed.

Seeing the light blue little fish doll among the items, Jing Mimi’s eyes lit up instantly. He immediately reached out his small hand to touch it.

The soft, velvety texture was very different from when he played with it in his kitten form, and it was bigger too.

Soon, the little fish doll was hugged into his arms, and he rubbed his little face against it lovingly.

Seeing this, Jing Zhi gave Fang Yuan a look that only he could understand.

Fang Yuan didn’t think much of it.

He knew what Jing Zhi meant—this little fish doll was sold by a chain boutique store, made with materials and stuffing that felt great to the touch, and came in three sizes: large, medium, and small. Jing Zhi had once bought the smallest one for Mimi. The kitten loved it, always carrying it around in its mouth and hugging it while sleeping.

Now, he had asked Fang Yuan to buy a medium-sized one for the little cub, wanting to see the cub’s reaction to this familiar toy.

The reaction was one of surprise and inability to put it down.

It fit the setting of being possessed by the kitten Mimi.

But wasn’t it normal for children to like this kind of toy? He liked them too when he was a kid.

Forget about when he was a kid; he still liked them now.

Fang Yuan reached out carelessly, rubbed the little cub’s head, and deliberately asked him, “Mimi, do you like this toy?”

Since Jing Zhi insisted on thinking the little guy was possessed by Mimi, he would play along and treat the little guy as Mimi, fighting fire with fire to help him wake up sooner.

A normal, healthy emotional sustenance wasn’t a bad thing, but an abnormal, unscientific one could very well be a sign of mental illness.

As a childhood friend, he couldn’t just watch Jing Zhi make mistake after mistake.

Jing Mimi looked up at him, immersed in the joy of getting the toy, and nodded subconsciously.

Jing Zhi was stunned. He looked at the fluffy little head in his arms in disbelief, then looked up with wild joy. Taking advantage of the care worker’s absence, he couldn’t wait to seek confirmation from Fang Yuan: “He… he admitted it.”

Jing Mimi, who was rubbing his face against the little fish doll, froze, realizing something belatedly.

The Cat God said he couldn’t admit he was the kitten Mimi. Just now… just now…

Fang Yuan’s face remained calm. He looked at his childhood friend with a fake smile and said slowly, “You even gave him Mimi’s name?”

He remembered Jing Zhi saying that the little cub wouldn’t answer any questions and didn’t even know his name. He didn’t expect Jing Zhi to give him Mimi’s name directly.

Jing Zhi: “…”

Jing Zhi: “I really didn’t.”

Jing Zhi felt like he couldn’t explain himself even with a hundred mouths.

Fang Yuan leaned over and continued to ask the little cub in Jing Zhi’s arms, “Mimi, are you a cat or a human?”

Facing this suddenly enlarged face, Jing Mimi reflexively shrank back into Papa’s arms, hugged the little fish doll tighter, and whispered remedially: “Human.”

He could tell that the person in front of him didn’t think he was the kitten Mimi.

He finally understood firsthand what the Cat God meant earlier—even if Papa recognized him as the kitten Mimi, others might not believe it.

Jing Mimi breathed a sigh of relief.

Fang Yuan gave Jing Zhi a “See?” expression.

Jing Zhi, however, calmed down unexpectedly.

Over the past few days, the little guy barely paid attention to anyone other than him. He even avoided answering questions from Jing Zhi himself, either burrowing into his arms or hugging his waist to brush them off.

Why was it that when Fang Yuan came and asked him two questions, he answered so cooperatively?

Especially the second one, asking if he was a cat or a human. The answer came a bit too quickly, as if trying hard to prove something. It was too much like trying to cover up something only to make it more conspicuous.

The kitten tail was almost showing.

If he wanted, there were actually many ways to prove it, but obviously, the little guy didn’t want to admit his identity. Why should he do things that made it difficult for him?

Jing Zhi raised his hand, pushed Fang Yuan’s shoulder to make him move away, and gently patted the small body clinging to him. “Don’t scare him.”

Fang Yuan straightened up and couldn’t help but say “Damn,” “Are you addicted to being a dad?”

Jing Zhi was too lazy to explain. He snorted lightly and said bluntly, “I am Mimi’s dad.”

Jing Mimi blinked his eyes, and many little kittens meowed happily in his heart.

That’s right, he is his Papa!

Fang Yuan couldn’t take it anymore. “We’re going to see a psychiatrist as soon as you’re discharged.”

Jing Zhi lowered his eyes noncommittally and tapped the phone screen to let the cartoon continue playing.

There were only 5 episodes of Black Cat Sheriff in total. They had already watched 4 episodes, with one last episode remaining.

The little cub loved watching it and didn’t even skip the songs.

“Come watch Black Cat Sheriff together. Let the Chinese teacher teach our Mimi to read,” Jing Zhi joked with a smile to Fang Yuan, who was standing aside like a post.

Fang Yuan: “…”

Fang Yuan: “I’m a high school Chinese teacher, not a kindergarten teacher, thanks.”

In the end, Fang Yuan watched the last episode of Black Cat Sheriff with the big one and the little one. However, he didn’t have the ability to teach such a small child to read; he purely wanted to purify his soul through childhood cartoons.

In the last episode, the plot about the cat-eating mouse scared Jing Mimi, who huddled in Papa’s arms and hugged the little fish doll tightly.

How can there be mice that eat cats… too scary…

The kitten Mimi was a beautiful pet cat bred in a cattery, kept by humans, with very low combat power. He had never caught a mouse, and even when he encountered wild rats while wandering, he avoided them.

The only mouse he had ever caught was the electric toy mouse his papas bought for him.

Jing Zhi was a bit worried that this episode would leave a psychological shadow on him. After all, from a kitten’s perspective, the cat-eating mouse was quite terrifying. He immediately searched for cute hamster photos online.

Jing Mimi’s attention was diverted.

Such cute mice.

Seeing the hamster photos, Fang Yuan suddenly said, “A student in my class was caught raising a hamster in the dorm by the dorm manager. It’s not allowed, and she couldn’t take it back home. The hamster and cage are now entrusted to me. I can’t take care of such small things and I’m afraid I’ll kill it. If you guys want to raise it, I’ll give it to you.”

After saying that, he suddenly realized something, leaned close to Jing Zhi’s ear, and whispered, “Do you really plan to adopt him? What did the police say? Will they agree?”

Leaving Mimi aside, this little cub was indeed cute and likable. Jing Zhi was fully capable of raising him financially. Plus, since he wasn’t straight and wouldn’t have his own children, adopting one would actually be quite nice.

Jing Zhi didn’t answer.

He didn’t know how to answer either.

After chatting with Fang Yuan last night, he actually looked up the adoption conditions a bit. The rest were fine, but one requirement was that the adopter must be at least 30 years old. He was only 27 this year, so he didn’t meet the requirement.

Moreover, who knew how the police station would handle this little guy…

Just then, the care worker walked in with lunch, interrupting their conversation.

Jing Mimi’s fever was almost gone. For the past few days, he had only eaten plain white porridge. Now he could eat a variety of other things.

Jing Zhi had originally wanted to order takeout to the ward, but the care worker, being an auntie of that age, always felt takeout was unhygienic and proactively suggested using the insulated lunch box she brought to get some food from nearby. Jing Zhi couldn’t say anything; after all, she meant well.

The care worker glanced at Fang Yuan, the stranger who had suddenly appeared, handed the lunch box for the little cub to him, and looked like she wanted to say something but stopped.

“What’s wrong?” Jing Zhi asked.

The care worker hemmed and hawed before finally speaking: “Is this your boyfriend?”

She had heard a bit about Jing Zhi’s sexual orientation. Although she didn’t understand how one could like the same sex, that was his business and had nothing to do with her, so it didn’t affect their daily interactions.

Jing Zhi almost choked on his saliva and hurriedly denied: “No, he’s my buddy.”

“Cough cough cough…” Fang Yuan was just about to speak, but hearing such a shocking sentence, he choked on his saliva.

Luckily Jiang Suifeng couldn’t hear this. Otherwise, with that brother’s petty nature, he would definitely whisper pillow talk to Jing Zhi and stop him from carrying Fang Yuan in games to rank up for a while.

It wasn’t like this hadn’t happened before; it brought tears just talking about it.

“Oh oh, sorry about that.” The care worker looked apologetic.

Jing Zhi smiled at her indifferently, opening the lunch box while saying, “It’s fine.”

Although Fang Yuan wasn’t fine, he could only say, “It’s fine.”

It was getting late, and Fang Yuan had to eat lunch and go back to work, so he left in a hurry, rather ungracefully.

Jing Zhi familiarly placed the lunch box with dishes on the bedside table, picked up the rice, scooped a little with a spoon, added a bit of dish with chopsticks, blew on it to cool it down, and fed it to the little cub sitting obediently on the bed.

Jing Mimi took a bite, nom nom nom, his cheek bulging into a cute little ball.

Regarding human food, the kitten Mimi first tasted it while wandering. Accompanied by the strange smell of the trash can, it wasn’t tasty, but it filled the stomach.

Later, after being brought home by his papas, he had secretly tasted their food out of curiosity. The kitten’s health was poor and his stomach fragile, so every time he stole food, he would get diarrhea. Later, his papas became extra vigilant, and the cat almost never succeeded again.

Since coming to the hospital, he had been eating bland food and didn’t feel much. Today, tasting food cooked with oil and salt, a door to a new world suddenly opened.

Human food (chew chew chew) is actually so delicious (chew chew chew). What kind of hard life (chew chew chew) did the kitten live before?

What the kitten couldn’t eat before, he would eat it all back now that he was a little human!

The little glutton Mimi ate very happily.

The care worker on the side also opened her lunch box. Suddenly thinking of something, she asked curiously, “Then will your boyfriend come tomorrow, Little Jing? Painless gastroscopy requires an escort to sign.”

Jing Zhi didn’t know how she was sure he had a boyfriend; maybe she just subconsciously felt he had one. While bringing the spoon with cooled food to the little cub’s mouth, he said in a flat voice, “We’ve broken up. Could you please sign for me, Big Sister? I’ll send you a red envelope as payment for hiring you as an escort.”

The gastroscopy was quick and wouldn’t take long. He had already planned to ask the care worker to escort him.

As the end of the term approached, Fang Yuan was too busy with work, and his classes clashed with the gastroscopy time. Jing Zhi didn’t want to trouble him. Anyway, the little cub wasn’t hard to take care of, and the care worker was quite free, so helping him was just a convenient favor.

As soon as he finished speaking, Jing Zhi froze.

The little cub, who had been eating obediently, suddenly clamped his mouth shut. The spoon he offered hung in mid-air, unable to feed him.

Jing Mimi hugged the little fish doll and stared at Papa in shock.

His mind was filled with four big words—They have broken up.

After Jing Mimi died, it went to Planet Meow.

The God of Planet Meow said to it: Mimi, welcome to the Cat Paradise. All the cats here will be your new family.

Mimi let out a "meow" and burst into tears: I want Papa.

The soft-hearted Cat God eventually sent this crybaby kitten back to its fathers' side.

In exchange, Mimi had to assist the Cat God in fulfilling the wishes of the kittens on Planet Meow.

For example, placing a kitten's favorite foxtail grass at their owner's doorstep; rubbing a little hand cream on the hand of a human scratched by a kitten; or giving a gentle kiss to the owner's newborn baby...

**

On the day the cat they had raised together for many years passed away, after yet another argument, Jing Zhi broke down and asked to break up.

Not long after, Jing Zhi found a sleeping little cub at his doorstep.

The little cub didn't cry or fuss; he just loved to burrow into his arms.

Soon, he learned his very first sound: "Meow."

**

After a cooling-off period following the breakup, Jiang Suifeng finally returned from his business trip. The first thing he did was buy a bouquet of Jing Zhi's favorite Chinese roses to apologize and seek reconciliation.

Unexpectedly, from a distance, he saw his boyfriend holding a little cub in his arms. The cub was calling out "Papa" with every breath, and his appearance actually bore a resemblance to his boyfriend.

Jiang Suifeng felt like he had been struck by a bolt from the blue. His brain crashed, unable to think. The flowers in his hand fell to the ground as he strode swiftly up to Jing Zhi, his eyes red, demanding an explanation.

The little cub blinked his eyes, suddenly giggled at him, and called out "Papa" again.

Jing Zhi looked at him as well. "Don't you think he looks a bit like you, too?"
